WELCOME TO VALSORA

Valsora is the premier roleplaying map of the East Pacific RMB, and is home to a wide variety of nations created by people all around the world. These factbooks contain all the information you need in order to get started, as well as much more! Hold conferences between nations that have had years of writing put into them. Go to war to increase the size of your empire. Develop a space program, flying to the far off reaches of the Suliasystem. And most of all, join a warm and welcoming community of people who are passionate about worldbuilding, roleplaying, and just having a good time. To navigate the pages of this factbook, simply click on the various links contained above.

THE CLAIM PROCESS

In order to claim a spot on the Valsora map, follow this process:

  • Decide what you want your nation will be. This is the first process of making a claim, as it will impact several key decisions. Do some worldbuilding. It doesn't have to be super in-depth, just think of the basic cultural values of your nation.

  • Once you have a basic understanding of your nation, compare its culture with that of cultures in the real world. Try to figure out what culture it most closely resembles.

  • Match this culture with the culture of one of the continents on the map. Each continent on the map roughly corresponds to a culture group in real life. Nonscio, Araseos, and Solitas are all inspired by Western Europe, with Araseos being generally more Germanic, Solitas being more colonial, and Nonscio having no specific leaning. Yastreovakia is inspired by Eastern Europe and Slavic culture. Orientalis is inspired by the Far East, whether that be China, Japan, Korea etc. Usnistan is inspired by African and Middle-Eastern culture. Antarctia (yes, it's spelt antarctia) is identical to the antarctica of the real word and generally exists only for research and exploration RP's (the climate is inhospitable and cannot sustain a nation.)

  • Finally you are ready to send a telegram to Valsora detailing your nation, where it will be located, and why it will be located there. Exceptions can be made for placing nations in other cultural zones, but such is not encouraged. In your telegram, please include a Linkpicture with your claim. This prevents confusing exchanges as the Cartographer attempts to decipher where exactly your nation will be, how large it is, and the shape of the borders. If you are unsure how to attach an image, we generally use Linkimgur, from there please ensure you copy the image address and attach it with your claim request.

  • Finally, why not join our LinkDiscord Server? It's just one click away, and it's where you can easily talk to the management of the map.

VALSORA RULES AND GUIDELINES

GENERAL RULES:

Rules on CTE:
If your nations ceases to exist, you will be removed from Valsora. Please note your land cannot be claimed by other nations, even if you are in a union.

Removal Guidelines:
If your nation is not deemed active on Valsora, and does not RP for at least 1 month, you will be removed from the map to save space. IF you need an exemption from this (eg. holiday, irl responsibilities) you should alert the council.

Rules on purchasing land:
Large amounts of land may NOT be purchased on Valsora, there is no direct size limit in place, and the ruling left to the cartography council. For example a nation may purchase a tract of land the size of a small city / county IF they extensively RP the purchase and all parties agree.

Rules on Nuclear Weaponry:
Nuclear weapons ARE permitted on Valsora, but with strict guidelines surrounding them and their use.

Firstly, nuclear weapons are only capable of being developed by nations with a GDP no lower than 6 trillion. Any nation with a GDP below this is barred from developing, purchasing or utilizing nuclear weaponry. This rule is implemented to avoid past situations, where fledglings immediately lob nukes at each other the second they begin a conflict.

Secondly, a cap of 500 kt will be placed on all nuclear weapons. (For reference, the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were 13-18kt and 19-23kt respectively.) A limit of 1 use per conflict is also enforced. For example Nation A can fire a nuclear missile at Nation B ONCE and no more, and it must be of a 500kt size or below. Please note nuclear weapons CAN be and often are shot down, so use it wisely if you choose to go that route. Please note nuclear weapons are generally frowned upon in RP, and should really only be used in an in-depth RP, consented to by both sides as the affects are not simple to condense into an RP post.

Rules on Metagaming:

Metagaming is a term used to describe taking information from OOC and acting upon it IC.

OOC = Out of Character
IC = In Character

IF you come across information about say, a planned invasion on Discord, you may NOT take IC action upon such. You RP as an IC nation, and if you gain information OOC you may NOT act on it in roleplay, if you are found to have metagamed you will be investigated and run the risk of being banned.

Rules on Godmodding:

Godmodding is a broad term to describe several situations.

Godmodding can be used to describe a nation committing an action outside their control or the realms of possibilty. For example if a nation is in an active war RP and suddenly decides that they have destroyed their opponents entire army instantly with a magic weapon, it would be referred to as godmodding.

Godmodding can also describe a user controlling someone elses characters or actions. For example Nation A RP's the actions of a soldier from Nation B. This is not permitted, you may only RP with your own characters unless both sides consent to acting otherwise.

Any number of situations could fall under the term 'godmodding', but as a general rule, try to avoid acting on things outside of your control, and try to maintain realism to the best of your ability. Godmodding is strictly prohibited and frowned upon in Valsora, so do your upmost to avoid it.

Rules on Fantasy / Magic:

In some rare examples, fantasy elements are permitted in Valsora, such as currently dragons and deity's in RP. Please note that any and ALL fantasy elements MUST go by the cartographer before use in RP. It must be approved before you are permitted to use it.

If you would like to request a fantasy species / character be added to the map, please submit a detailed explanation to the Valsora account

Rules on Alliance Size:

There have been multiple problems in the past due with the size of alliances; if there was no limit, then the map would be dominated by mega alliances. If they were too harsh, then they wouldn't allow for any substantial alliances to take form. With the current iteration of this rule, alliances are limited to around 8 members each. Additional, but separate, alliances cannot be created to subvert this ruling. This limit does not apply to observer states, as long as they are prohibited from activities an alliance might commence in its lifetime (Voting on bills, military conflicts, directly taking part, directly influencing, etc). This also prohibits a nation to be within multiple alliances at once, though this does not apply to treaty's as long as they follow the guidelines above

TECHNOLOGY

Technology on Valsora follows MTRP guidelines (Modern Tech Roleplay). The general ruleset to follow, is that technology utilized in Valsoran RP is what can be used today, and in the near future (2030 max.) Specific examples are included below, but if you are unsure of a technology's use on Valsora, please contact the Cartographer before use.

Examples of BAD MTRP:

We figure it is best to go into more specific examples as to what sort of technology is considered 'too far' per Valsora's rules. While Valsora is set in the 2030's (Valsora is always 10 years in the future of the current year), this does not mean extensive futuristic technology is permitted.

As a general rule, think forward to the next decade and what developments the world may have made in technology by then. Nothing insane right? Probably just more advanced versions of what we see today. For example, we will not in 10 years have developed advanced robots or cyborgs, we will not have replaced conventional firearms with laser weaponry. We will not have clones walking around, nor genetic modification outside of perhaps very basic changes to prevent things such as disease or sickness. Space also provides an interesting case study, while space travel, even commercial space travel is definitely plausible by 2030, colonisation of moons and planets is simply not feasible within a decade, as much as we'd like to think it is. For this reason space RP in Valsora is generally limited to satellites, moon and lunar landings and anti-satellite weaponry in warfare. Generally utilize a common sense approach in relation to matters of technology, and you'll be fine.

NATURAL EXPANSION

Natural Expansion involves growing your nations borders through RP. You can utilize natural expansion in many ways, such as roleplaying colonization, land purchase or invasion! Natural Expansion is permitted as to give players an opportunity to grow themselves over time, though there are rules in place to avoid abuse of this.

Natural Expansion is only permitted once every 2 months. This is to stop nations from abusing natural expansion and growing too quickly

Here are some examples of Linkfair natural expansion, and Linkbad natural expansion

Natural Expansion must be heavily roleplayed, requiring at least 800 words of writing, whether that be in one long post, or several shorter ones. To submit a natural expansion, you need to send your writing to the Valsora account via telegram, attaching an image of your intended expansion along with it.

Please note that the Cartographer(s) hold the right to refuse natural expansion requests if they so choose, whether it be due to size, a nations inactivity, or other reasons reliant on fairness.

LEAVING THE MAP

If at any time you would like to leave Valsora, please contact the Cartographer and let them know. Please note that you cannot reserve land for yourself later on, or a friend, nor any specific nation. You may not also transfer any land, weapons, currency or anything that may act as a positive to another nation before you leave unless specified otherwise by the Cartographer.

I've looked into your nation a little and after viewing it I have decided that if I make it onto Valsora, I will offer to guarantee your independence. I am not the biggest or most powerful nation, I am just a few economically prosperous islands but we islands need to stick together to hold any influence on the world stage.

You
With your back turned against the force of the wind
Push out the feeling
Of remembrance
From the catapults of Winter's ease
The duscontentment of the moonlit river
Webbed throughout the shiny overtures
Of the moonlight shown from above

The silkiness of her hair strands
Bullied the backlight of the bosom
As if someone had taken a stick
And drew lines within it

A quickening of temptations
Accentuated by the breeze
As her lover in quiet distance
Hurried to arms unembraced
In the total shallowness of the hills
In the total stillness of the mountains
Where forgotten quarrels
Frightened the heart

Sovietwomble is an artist with his editing. He suffers greatly from his lack of uploads. Templin Institute has to be be on of the most unique youtube channels I have seen.

In May, 2024, on the 16th, Max Barry will release an update that will increase the number of BBCode shortcuts on the RMB

It will be Spoilers, List, Sup, & Sub Shortcuts.

Yep, other than that 40K drama I believe the TI will make continuing strides in video content! Hell, they just might make another Stellaris Invictus!

Still waiting for them to fix the RMBomb...tested it recently and it's still capable of wrecking RMBs.
