So, after the Franco-Saxon War (Saxon Kingdom being the predecessor to Oceania) of 1124, the Duchy of Normandy, which had previously been part of a real union with the Saxon King was ceded to the Frankreichian Tzar as part of the Frankreichian Tzardom in perpetuity. While it was mostly a group of barbarian tribes tenuously leal to the Saxon King, and remained so until the Frankreichian Unification Campaign of 1824, under the Ordensstaat (formed 1789 following the failed Ost-Paris revolt, which led to the move to Dijon and the establishment of the Bloody Burgundian System), which led to the unification of the Duchy to the Ordensstaat. It was unjustly reannexed to Oceania in the cataclysmic Franco-Flumen War of 1906.
