Paglaum worried about new alliance, calls for new Panama Talks
"The proposal of this alliance, in the middle of a diplomatic crisis, and amidst the spectacularly failed talks on regards to Panama, is extremely irresponsible. Quite frankly, this might have been the very worst timing to call for such an alliance. It threatens to further aggravate tensions between the foreign powers involved in Mexico, and reignite the conflict along the lines of two power blocs." Has said David Welch, the lead opposition figure within the Paglaumian parliament, and one of the most influential members of the Social Democratic party.
The actual government has refused to comment on the Paris meeting entirely, and has so far ignored the invitations to this alliance. Instead, it has called for a second round of talks, in regards to the issue of the Panama Canal. To be held in Arcadie. In a joint statement with 
Ascoobis.
Political analyst, Enzo Perturabo. Brother of famed General Julius Perturabo, has had this to say about Paglaum's complex geopolitical issue. Explaining why, so far, Paglaum has steadfastly refused to even consider this alliance. Despite its usually positive relations to France:
"The Paglaumians are very worried of war reigniting in Mexico, as they are the one nation invited to this proposed alliance, that actually borders the North American state. That has to deal with the consequences of violence within Mexico.
The Mexican Refugee Crisis has already lead to a destabilisation of our society. Culminating with the rise of far right, populist sentiments within Paglaum. It has also contributed to a major rise in cross-border cartel activity. The Conservative Party is all but dead, and the government is now controlled by the fragile Nationalist-Libertarian Coalition.
The Archon, Jean-Philippe Bolzonaro, was sympathetic to the Ramón regime. He is also spearheding the move to ban anarchist parties in Paglaum, as hate groups. President Jessica Bernier is a staunch libertarian, and saw the Mexican rebels as misguided but well-meaning ideological partners. In practice, the Libertarians and Nationalists have been forced to compromise on a neutral stance, on such issues.
These internal politics, and the fear of an even worsening Mexican Crisis right at their doorstep, not to mention the trade ties between ATCO and Paglaum. Are all what have ultimately has lead to the Unified Republics to call for urgent dialogue.
Ascoobis, while not neutral during the conflict as Paglaum was, still shares many of our concerns. As it borders Mexico too. It is only natural that the two nations have jointly called for this summit.
We can only hope that pressure from both nations brings the belligerents back to a negotiating table, and that a lasting peace is negotiated soon."

Crumbling Conference
Ascoobian diplomats return from the talks with the newly established Confederacy of Nordamy at an impasse. The diplomatic team reports that a deal had been initially reached involving humanitarian aid to the crumbling nation and the status of the tens of thousands of Nord asylum seekers in Ascoobis, however talks broke down when the controversial subject of the Panama Canal was addressed. According to the report released by the Department of Foreign Affairs, both the Nords(and their allies) and the ATCO became unyielding in their proposals. This issue was compounded by the overall unprofessionalism displayed by their Nord hosts. Rather than continuing the dialogue with irrationality, Ascoobian diplomats withdrew and look forward to the conference on neutral ground to be held by the Paglaumians and the Diplomatic Corps are mobilizing in preparation. This time we will not fail to ensure the stability of the Nord State and a new beginning for Nord-Ascoobian relations.
In the meantime, ATCO forces are mobilizing throughout the Northern Hemisphere, should the disillusioned Nords and their short-sighted allies attempt to use violence to achieve their ends.

With the Second Civil War in Nordamy over and the negotiation unable to find a solution, the Department of Internal Affairs has announced that it will go ahead with a plan to put the nationless Nords onto the path of Ascoobian citizenship. Details of the process remain unclear, but representatives of Ascoobian industry, the Armed Forces, and the Department of Education are scheduled to meet with the DoIA to hammer out a policy to turn these victims into productive members of Ascoobian society.

First election poll published
With the month of March dawning on the nation, the first official polls for January's election have been published by the Government's polling organisation, newspapers and independent polling groups. Whilst each poll will, naturally, predict a different result one must take an average of these polls which is what this organisation will be doing in our poll of polls. Our averages suggest that currently, before the start of real campaigning, the numbers look similar to how they did 5 years ago; the Nationalists as the largest party but needing Liberal and Conservative support to form a majority Government. Although this poll is indicative of the current mood in the Empire, one must remember that the election is still a long way off and campaigning is yet to officially begin.

Following a few days of talks, PM Larathael is back on her plane and out of Nuak. Although having spent several days in the nation, the Prime Minister denies having discussed much of importance stating "the discussions in Nuak have been mostly advisory and informal with little weight to any of our words." Although the Prime Minister has already visited the nation of New Zealand, around two years ago, relating to matters of the formation of the Oriental Concordat, she's today returning to the island nation on the invitation of their Prime Minister.

BIRTH OF NEW ALLIANCES
A new alliance of eastern nations has been declared, known as the Oriental Concordat. The Empire of Karthspire, the Empire of Japan, and the Republic of Nieuw Zealandia, have declared their economic and military support for one another by the signing of this pact. Forming a far-eastern bloc with mutually supporting interests, the Oriental Concordat may face diplomatic wariness from the World Treaty Organisation, whose strength lies primarily in its American signatories.
- Furthermore, another bloc concentrated more within Europe has also been declared. At the invitation of the Franko-Italian Union, delegations from Mexico, Nuak, Italy, and Paglaum have been requested to journey to Paris to engage in talks regarding a new alliance to counter both the Oriental Concordat and the World Treaty Organisation.
- Along with Taralus in the north, Ephyra stands apart from the growing number and influence of such supranational organisations. Whether individual relations between the Freehold and member-states of the new alliances can be maintained, or if individual sovereignty will be replaced by supranational decisions on foreign policy remains to be seen, as does the consequence of these developments upon the Ephyral people.

The end of the term of Archon Laerthos is approaching, and a year from now, elections will commence to decide his successor, and new entries into the Senate via election to other offices.
- Candidacies are not yet announced, but will as is the norm be drawn from the higher echelons. General opinions of the tenure of Laerthos have been positive. The quelling of the Selian Suffrage Shift, the victory achieved in the eastern provinces against the rebel forces, growth in tourism, economic strength, and general national unity, have all lent themselves to a more positive view of Laerthos' Archonship. Critics of the Archon range from opposition to his actions or declarations that they were not enough, and could lead to a split in preference for the upcoming candidates. It may be that the supporters of Laerthos act as the decider in the upcoming elections.

News From Taralus
Prince Rokar missing
In a strange turn of events that has troubled the royal family Prince Rokar was officially declared missing early this morning. On discovery of a note left in his private residence it became apparent that he left on his own accord, the King has declared that security forces within Taralus to not search for him as he has left the country and journeyed eastwards to parts unknown. Despite this the King hopes that Rokar will return in time as he would regret adding his name to the list of "The Lost Ones", which is a short list of Taran royals who have left the royal family and never returned for whatever reasons throughout history.

In light of recent events on the international stage, the King and the Council of Cthonia have announced that Taralus will not be interested in joining any of the alliances that have started to spring up across the World. This announcement came as it was believed by some Tarans that the ruling hierarchy was considering joining one of the new alliances.

Kathspiri-Nieuw Zealandia Talks Conclude
Kathspiri Prime Minister Kristina Larathael met with NZ Prime Minister William Davis yesterday. The talks have resulted in a free trade agreement and easing of immigration red tape between the two countries. Allyria is also going to be supplying the Nieuw Zealandian Defence Force with their latest body armour, aircraft refuelling trucks, and other utilities. Joint military exercises have been announced, although the exact date of when they will be held has not yet been released.
The Foreign Ministry has been praised for getting this state visit established and Foreign Minister Alexander Finch seems to have redeemed himself from his subpar performance during Jack Wyodi's office.
Colmar Brunton polling shows that William Davis is NZ's prefered PM, with 68% approval, an all-time high.

TALA (Trans Atlantic Liberty Alliance), officially founded.

Today, after long talks with the diplomats of all nations who arrived in Paris, a final decision was made.
TALA would be founded. The french parliament released information detailing some aspects of the alliance:
"This alliance is a economic alliance and military alliance, but unlike most alliances today, we have no say over the internal decisions of our members. That means that the alliance can't impose any rules on how one of their members is run, and can't sanction them for their decisions.
However, when it comes to decisions about the alliance itself, member nations will discuss the situation, and then democratically decide with a majority vote. (However keep in mind, in case of emergency situations about alliance decisions, Nordamy and Franko-Italy have veto power.)
The common rule is if one nation is attacked, all allies will protect that nation, with Nuak as a exception (If a ally is attacked, Nuak won't have to join in to protect them, as they'd like to keep neutrality.)
Nordamy also has some special rules applied to them.
Nordamy won't be completely part of the alliance. They'll will be part of almost every part of the alliance, including alliance decision making, trade, and everything else, and other nations in the alliance will also be able to defend Nordamy if they are attacked, but TALA can not station any military personnel in Nordamese soil or give them weapons or supplies during peacetime. Full integration (Meaning alliance members can station troops and conduct operations in Nordamy), will only happen in the event of war.
Current members of TALA include: The Franko-Italian Union, The Sicilio-Milan Union, Nuak, and Nordamy. With new members always being accepted. May this great point in our history, this point of French history in which we refused to sit down as the world crumbled around us, be remembered forever."
The French government is yet waiting for an international response, and when prime minister De'Luffon was asked if any other nations are joining, he refused to comment.

Pizarski declares support for TALA
In a rousing speech to a national televised audience, Head Director Aukip Pizarski declared a international crisis in the pooling of power, saying that the ATCO had ruled for too long. To quote:
"The international cabal of businessmen and kleptocrats running the ATCO have grasped an inhumane amount of power to extend their greedy tendrils out across the globe! Just look at the situation in Mexico, comrades, where the supposed 'Republic' of Washington threatened global thermonuclear war once the business friendly Ramon government was toppled! It will only be a matter of time before they squeeze out any last resisting nations with embargo, funding of extremist terror groups, and eventually invasion. We must seize the initiative, and act now before we are acted upon, we must seize the day before the day seizes us.
We did not sit and accept total hegemony from a few corrupt capitalists in the revolution of 1930 comrades, we threw them out and took power! And so today, I have contacted the Franco-Italian Prime Minister, and we will be joining TALA, not to say yes to global capitalism, but to say no to international monopoly!"
It is expected the the UWF will be joining the TALA in the next few days officially, although this comes as an extremely surprising announcement. Such an action will surely tip the global balance of power.

Larathael addresses Parliament
Upon her return in the nation early Tuesday morning, Mrs. Larathael seems to have swiftly recovered from diplomatic fatigue and jet lag to have been able to give one of the greatest speeches of her Premiership so far on Wednesday morning. In one of the first sessions of Parliament to be televised internationally, Mrs. Larathael gave her state of the nation address with a fire and zeal not demonstrated by any Karthspiri political leader since the founder of the National Front; Former Prime Minister Elár Direnni. The following is a transcript of her speech:
"Entering this new year, I feel as though it is safe to say that our great nation has come a long way; not only in the past century but in the past 5 years alone. The Karthspiri tiger now stands guard over all Asia, pouncing on all those who harm her interests and those of her friends. For too long have we, and our allies, lived with foreign interference on our doorsteps; threats of foreign upstarts having echoed over the centuries. It is time for a new century to begin, one led by the emergence of our nation as not only the world's dominant power but also as the bulwark of freedom and democracy, the light of the torch of liberty admired the world over and the defender of the just!"
The Prime Minister paused for a moment, receiving zealous applause from members of her Party and coalition which thundered through the 1000 member chamber; continuing:
"This Asian century will be led not only by our strengthened and reinvigorated nation, the Empire which has long guarded the Indus, but by our new friends and allies in the Oriental Concordat; Japan, New Zealand and, sometimes, Russia. As we look around our broken world what we see is the furthering of the agendas of fracturing and weakening nations, the posturing of the morally weak and decrepit and the death and despair of millions. If there is one thing the Concordat stands for, it is to stand against the chaos our broken world has seen too much of. Be it through diplomacy or the fire of war, be sure that our Concordat will bring justice and liberty back to the world; standing against the cowards in the ATCO and the TALA upstarts."
She paused again, surveying the room:
"To show our commitment to this new security in the Austro-Asian region, the recently announced war games in the Pacific will go ahead with full Karthspiri support. As well as this, our allies in Japan and New Zealand will also be participating with an open invitation to the Russian and Mexican Governments. Not only will we learn from one another's tactics and experiences, share some of the world's most advanced equipment and ensure our ability to work together efficiently but we'll show to the world that our continent is no longer willing to be ignored or pushed around; the Empire and her allies will no longer be sidelined to make way for the will of the morally decaying hegemonies of the ATCO!
Following this speech, the Prime Minister's approval rating has shot up from 50 to 70%, a welcome boost to both her and her National Front party before January's election.

Election Campaign kicks off
Although the official campaign period is yet to start, Prime Minister Larathael was addressing the National Front Party vanguard in her home state of Falinesti. In the most fiery speech of her career, even more so than the one given to Parliament several weeks back, the Prime Minister promised that, in the event of a National-led Government, she would embark upon a new military expansion; funding new R&D projects, increasing troop and equipment numbers and boosting the presence of Karthspiri troops around the globe. Being showered in flowers from the crowd, the Prime Minister continued to push on with economic reforms. Although the Empire has seen much growth over the past century, many areas of the country remain poor in-terms of development and some sectors, such as agriculture, are in need of major restructuring and modernisation.

Military Spending Increased
With the publication of this financial year's budget, an increase in military spending has been declared. The Defence Force budget has up until this point been 1.5 per cent of the GDP or 4.5 billion Nieuw Zealandian dollars. This will be increased to 2 per cent or 6 billion Nieuw Zealandian dollars.
This move has been praised by the majority of the population and the Centrists, citing the current state of world affairs. However, the liberals are against the increase in NZDF spending, saying that it makes Nieuw Zealandia 'look like a warmongering nation'.
Doctor-Assisted Suicide Legalised
The 'Doctor-Assisted Suicide for the Terminally Ill' bill has passed through Parliament today with a 74 per cent majority. This bill will allow patients with terminal illnesses to end their own lives with the assistance of a medical professional, granted that the patient is an adult.

An election was held in January for the Senate seats of Blue Canaria North and New Republica South, with a special election for the Himes West Senate seat as well. Sargon reman ran unopposed for Blue Canaria North while Twobagger and Siuts ran in a very tight race for Himes West. Jabberwocky and the esteemed Markanite contended for the New Republica South Senate seat but Markanite withdrew after being chosen as the new Minister of Education just three days before the conclusion of the election. Sargon reman, Jabberwocky and Twobagger are the January election winners.

On Sunday, February 17th 2019, Chief Executive Woonsocket of 10000 Islands declared his intent to resign from his position after two years of running the region. As his successor he has chosen Markanite, three time WA Delegate and Heart of the Islands recipient. Both Woonsocket and Markanite are highly well like among the community of XKI, and while many of us are sad to see Woonsocket step down after doing such a good job we know that he couldn't have made a better choice for the person to replace him.
In his statement of resignation Woonsocket had much to say about his successor, and much to say about his time as Chief Executive. To the delight of many, he has also declared his intent to stick around and not leave the community entirely.

Thanks to you all for letting me serve you for the last couple of years; this is an amazing region with amazing people in it and I am blessed to have had a chance to be a part of it! I am not leaving the Islands though, I will be staying around and continuing to participate in our fine region! Reconstruction of Tenochitlan Nearly Complete
Reconstruction efforts in Tenochitlan are nearing completion and will be finished by the end of the month. Several companies from here and abroad were contracted by city council to assist in the cleanup. New projects include a war memorial, an upgraded metro system and new skyscrapers. Many of these projects were built with green technology with very little funding from the Federal Council. The fundings came from donations and the paychecks from the Federal Council members. Tenochitlan will serve as an example to the world that Mexico can rise from the ashes of conflict, a nation reborn.

The city of Alcapulco will host the Freedom Conference, now branded as Anarchapulco. The week long event will feature libertarian, voluntaryist and agorist speakers from Mexico and from all around the world. Events will include conferences, speeches, workshops, music and much more. Unique topics this year include:Anarchy and Spirituality, Cryptocurrency and Banking, Ultimate Man and, Living Decentralized. The company that makes the Real, Maximón, will be in attendance and stated they will present their latest project, Simón, a cryptocurrency of the Real. The Simón is intended to be used on an international scale, will not be taxed and will be on the blockchain.
ATCO Troops Still Stationed
ATCO troops remain in the canal still under a no movement order from the Mexican government. Mexican troops remain stationed in what can be described as a "friendly standoff". As the politicians bicker about the state of the canal and how to handle the stationed troops, both sides do not seem to care. Mexican troops will go into the canal zone to drink, socialize and play cards with the ATCO troops. Last night both sides held what could only be described as "a giant pool party". Photos show troops swimming in the canal, drinking and eating. This shows that there is hope
