Titanne wrote:But they are all the same server. They’re tied together, you can’t deny it. The census bore the face of your campaign. It was a brainchild of the same group that made your campaign. Published at the same time. If you’re telling me they’re entirely unrelated... I don’t know what to say.

But a working group has limits on the number of people in it. Otherwise it’s not really a group, it’s just the population of the region, which is what we already have. Everyone should be involved in the process, not just a select few. And if these working groups are made by you and Korsinia, then it’s just a renamed cabinet. And what’s the point of getting all of the ministers involved in every decision? I don’t understand the point of making the Justice Minister weigh in on Culture Affairs, or vice versa. You have to let people work independently or things would never get done. On another level, if you can’t trust someone to make good decisions, maybe they shouldn’t be a minister or in charge of something. Besides, inter-departmental cooperation already exists! It doesn’t have to be forced. When I was CM, I cooperated with Korsinia and Levantx planning interregional Olympics, which we never got around to. I cooperated with Fishergate to plan a gala for our region's birthday. It’s just more efficient for the ministers to cooperate then as it is for them to cooperate on everything. Lastly, if everyone can share thoughts, what is the point of a working group?!?!

I don’t like the idea. It needlessly limits power. It wastes time. It removes specialization from the executive.

They're tied? And? Who does f.cking care? They helped me in doing a census that has nothing to do with this campaign. We got this idea off the Leftist Assembly's regional census when we spoke with Bigtopia & others of making a proper NSWiki Thaecia page. That's all.

I just use the "working group" to give examples, stop playing the words. I trust the ministers in their job, and I won't force anyone to do inter-department cooperation. The idea of dividing the theory and practice is based on the fact that people right now need to be part of a ministry to access it and debate on its policies. This would remove such barriers. While the ministers and their appointed staff will always decide on how they manage their ministry, everyone from executive officials to legislative members to simple citizens will be able to share their thoughts with the executive. It's about opening the executive to the whole region, and effectively making Thaecia a big working group instead of a compartmentalized & small administration.

This idea does not limit power, it does not waste time and it, of course, removes specialization from the executive. You spoke of 'elitism'. That's exactly what you would push for if keeping the executive divided and specialized. Who cares of specialization? If people have ideas, even only one, they can share it at any time. If they want to give help one day in a month, then do nothing, they can.

In the census, one of the ideas given by the residents was to create more positions for the residents to get involved. This translates a lack of campaigning by the executive for its ministerial and department positions. This is exactly what I want to push for. And if I had to come back to the wasting time argument, again, who cares? If we make the executive better, easier to access and make more residents involved, who cares about the time it takes?

You're a legislator, and you perfectly know how the legislative can be slow. So please, don't talk of time. We both know it's a pointless argument as long as it does not affect any other parts of the region.

I like this back and forth, even if there is a good bit of time in between each response!

Terentiland wrote:I like this back and forth, even if there is a good bit of time in between each response!

RMB debate. 🤷
And here the both of us actually debate on our policies, instead of discord where Titanne had to give you pre-made answers.

Me! It’s not right that a government endorsed survey was put forward by a presidential candidate and his campaign group. If you can’t see the problem this isn’t worth debating.

Ok, that’s really not what “working group” implies so yeah I do agree that people should have a voice. I’d have ministers keep their decisions open to the people to give thoughts. That term is very confusing, as “town hall” or even “peanut gallery” would be more accurate.

And for the legislative crap: of course it moves slow every piece of legislation has to be dissected and watched closely. The executive is about making the region more fun, in my opinion. The legislative is about making it more functional.

Apologies for misunderstanding the working group meaning it’s a very misleading term for what you just described.

Well, my working group may back me in my campaign but so does it with Al0ne and Korsinia. There also is Rayekka (which is the PP leader) in it. I don't see that as a problem because we encompass lots of people, including Aexodius who just rejoined the region and speak about a lot of things. From the NSWiki, the census, the campaigns, general meme & joke discussions to politics and reforms. This group was first assembled to discuss the reformation of our democracy by changing the executive, then it grew into a multi campaign hub, the regional census crew, and plenty of other things. It's like a mini #general from main Thaecia discord.

And yeah, sorry for the word. I was just searching an example of this and the working group came in because it's basically people I regrouped to discuss theory and practice over one subject. And of course, English's not my first language.

For the legislative & the executive I totally agree, and that is exactly what I am pushing for with all of these ideas. Both can be slow, but as long as they function correctly, why would we care about their speed? (There's still a limit on speed, but like not having gigantic delays after one person speaks, etc)

That doesn’t explain why the census had your campaign face + coloring on it but ok.

It’s fine. I think we’ve exhausted the topic though: Terentiland are there more questions?

woop woop

Titanne wrote:That doesn’t explain why the census had your campaign face + coloring on it but ok.

Well uh because blue would have copy/pasted the LA's colors, and because we had a joke about a pharmaceutical group & pain killers for this picture so I put it in the form 🤷

Ok then 😂😂😂

do we have anymore questions or is the debate over?

Post self-deleted by Zajit.

Well as it seems like the debate has dwindled you can all make final statements whenever you want! If you are already asleep you can make it tomorrow morning.

In your final statement, please answer the question: Why are you the best presidential candidates?

It was made clear during the two Presidential debates and the campaigning that Titanne & I both have similar views but different ideas for the executive. Both of us are convinced and try to persuade you that our ideas are the best.

My ideas are based on reforming how the executive work, how it is presented and how we see it. I want it to be apolitical, simple to access and be part of, make the region fun and finally, efficient when it comes to running our region. I base them on opening the executive to anyone, even if you come for only one time. On overhauling the way the ministries and departments work by dividing theory and practice, where Theory is the part accessible by everyone, and Practice is the part done only by the ministerial/departmental staff. I plan on making it apolitical by removing the executive this arbitrary power to say which political party is one or not and giving it to the Electoral Commission, by removing the political affiliations from the government factbooks on the executive. I wish to see our democracy reformed into a mixed Presidential or Semi-Presidential system. If unicameralism becomes law, I want to create commissions that will help the legislative in doing its work. And finally, I oppose bad things like everyone such as supraregional organisations.

If I had to prove why I am the best presidential candidate, it should be because of my atypical path. I am not a politician. I am a Justice who studied and worked on the law, advised legislators and officials on their actions. I am an old member of the FAM, where I advised the minister and helped initiatives. I am and was an advisor to the IM and the RM. Finally, I had and still have the chance to lead the Thaecian Roleplay, which just entered its 5th season. This is literally a country in a country, we have our own elected Head of State (me) and the administration. For now, almost a year serving in the roleplay, I accumulated experience and experience on how to lead a group, create rules, help the people in need, listen to the roleplayers' ideas and complaints, enforced my rules, appointed an administration, made hard choices, fought for my views. And after so much time, I am still here, Roleplay Secretary for now 3 seasons in a row (4 if we count my administratorship with Brototh), liked by the community.

On the other hand, Titanne is a 'perfect' politician. He leads a political party, is a legislator in the heart. He has this typical path still today people like Korsinia & Marvinton have, and what Rayekka had. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but this is for me the reason that makes me the best presidential candidate.

In the end, every critic, complaint, idea, comment and of course vote matters. This is why, if you have any critic to make, a complaint to formalise, an idea to propose, comment to send, do it. We should have more debates like these where the candidates explain their policies, they defend them, even change them sometimes, reveal more ideas.

Your vote matters. Make your vote count.

I do sincerely apologize for my absence. I hope I didn't miss too much. I am not available on the weekends.

Welcome to the Spring 2020 Inauguration of Titanne to the Presidency and Korsinia to the Prime Ministry!

Schedule:

- Titanne's Oath of Office

- Titanne's Inaugural Address

- Korsinia's Oath of Office

- Korsinia's Inaugural Address

- Closing

Everything is ready for the coming inauguration and installation of the two highest elected executive officials in the land. Chief Justice Rhyssua has verified the results as accurate and we stand here today to carry out those results and in doing so carry out the will of Thaecians.

Thank you for joining us in the Thaecian Stadium today for the swearing-in of two newly-elected Thaecian leaders!

I, the Electoral Commissioner, will administer the presidential oath of office. Titanne please raise your right hand and repeat after me:

"I, Titanne, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of Thaecia, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Thaecia."

I, Titanne, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of Thaecia, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Thaecia.

after the applause, hugs, handshakes, celebratory cheers are over

Congratulations, Titanne! You are officially the President of Thaecia.

You may now make your inaugural address.

This is unreal. Like, seriously, has this all been a fever dream? Did I make it all up in my head? The love and support I and so many others have received from this community is truly incredible. It’s just awesome that we are as supportive as we are. But I want to expand on that. As your president, I will raise awareness for mental health. As your president, I will understand that real-life comes first. I mean, it is just a game. But even so, it’s a wonderful game. As your president, I will also get citizens as involved in the process as possible, so that one day they can be leaders, and so that they are ready for that. But there’s also a lot of fixing to be done. The WA recommendation system is in shambles. I’ll get it back up and running, and revise it so that it’s as streamlined but also as open as possible. The WA is a great place to build regional influence, and I plan to do just that. The Executive Staff needs either vast change or to be cut. I plan to do the first one. But back to the election. I just can’t believe it. Thank you all so, so much for casting your votes for me, or just casting your ballots at all. And also, for supporting me even if you didn’t vote for me. I know for a fact that half of the congratulations on the RMB came from people who supported my opponent. This election heralds in a new era in Thaecia. A human era. There’s lots of work to be done, so let’s get to it.

after a fresh round of applause, hugs, handshakes, celebratory cheers are over

I, the Electoral Commissioner, will administer the prime ministerial oath of office. Korsinia please raise your right hand and repeat after me:

"I, Korsinia, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of Prime Minister of Thaecia, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Thaecia."

I, Korsinia, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of Prime Minister of Thaecia, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Thaecia.

after the applause, hugs, handshakes, celebratory cheers are over

Congratulations, Korsinia! You are officially the Prime Minister of Thaecia.

You may now make your inaugural address.
