Hey so I'm Snalland and I want to serve you all in Congress. There's a couple of things I'd like to do. Priority number one is getting the convention under way, which, if you don't already know, will be occurring soon. We're going to rewrite the constitution and I'll try my hardest to get some reform through. It seems like the current congress is content with just rewording the constitution without really changing anything. While not inherently awful, it would be best to reform and refine our current process. So that's the first thing that we'll try to get done, reform the constitution and make it better.

Second thing, we're going to get the rest of congress to actually do something. It's a problem when the president is the one writing half of the legislation. It's an even bigger problem when four people are the authors of everything in either docket. Now you're probably thinking, "Hey you aren't one of those four people, idiot." And you are absolutely correct. Moving on, we're going to need to have the people who know how to write competent legislation teach, or co-author, the people who don't know how to. In my own escapades in writing legislation, it was helpful to have an experienced legislator assist.

Putting away the boring stuff, let's talk about me! Everybody loves me, so I'm down to do that. I served a term as MP before, starting in my first week in Thaecia. So I'm pretty much a prodigy. I'm currently the Justice Minister, and I've only lost, like, two cases. Granted that's half of the cases I've done, but I think I did a decent job anyways. Other things I've done: lost an argument about the definition of "shall," did not get reelected to the house, and probably something else I don't remember.

Now, let's be optimistic and say I win not only this election, but the next couple as well. What's the bigger plan. Clearly I haven't given enough reforms in place to fill much more than this one term. To assuage your worries, let's just say I've some big ideas. To not spoil them, I'll give some ideas that I'm fine bringing to the public at this time. Expand the power of the executive. Currently the executive branch serves a purpose that is dwarfed by the legislative branch. It's no secret that Legislators have access to more power than the executive. To solve this issue, I propose the following list of reforms.

Giving the ability to veto legislation as long as it has not met a 2/3 vote in one chamber of Congress.
The ability for the President and Prime Minister to sponsor legislation.

Ultimately, the hope is to eventually transform Thaecia into a direct democracy. Voting me will at least get a plan on the floor during the convention. So a vote for me is a vote for a plan to never have to vote for me ever again, win-win.

Hi all. I wanted to give notice of my departure from the HC and NationStates itself.

I have been on NS since August 2016, and during the last 5 years both in NS and IRL I have achieved a lot and life has changed a lot. In NS I was a member of New Western Atlantic, a name that OGs will remember. More recently in 2019 (or 2018?) I joined Thaecia and have loved every stage since. I’ve served as an MP, Speaker, Electoral Commissioner, Prime Minister, Senator & now Chief Justice of the High Court. I am honestly so privileged to have been given these experiences by this region and I thank everyone who has been apart of my NS journey.

In real life a lot has changed, and with all these changes my priorities have changed and with that I no longer have enough time or the priority of NS. I have loved my experience but it is time for me to say goodbye.

I’ll be officially standing down as Chief Justice of the High Court on Sunday 13th June, beforehand I will ensure a new CJ is in place to continue the workings of the court. And from there I will leave Rayekka to the graveyard of NationStates where so many nations rest. I will remain in this discord server to say Hi every now and then because however busy my life gets I’ll always find a spare few for discord.
