Emazia

Just noting this, but two folks need to withdraw their endorsements from Titanne or else he’ll re-take the Delegate spot at the next game update.

Kors is on 113 rn and Titanne is on 114.

This course gives a general summary of all of the government roles and functions, and how they all work together as a team. It is recommended for use to help new residents find what branch of government they might be interested in, and then look at the corresponding factbook for that branch later in the Education Ministry Course.

The government of Thaecia is very complex, but nothing too difficult to understand. The several different branches and parts of the government work together in many different ways to provide all of our citizens and residents with the best possible experiences. I myself interact with lots of the Thaecian government just being EM. It's important to understand all of these interactions to understand how to get involved in the region and the government. Between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, there's a lot to learn, but this dispatch will hopefully give you a basic rundown of what you need to know. As always, if you have any questions at all, my telegram inbox is always open, as is the rest of the executive's. We are here to serve you, so don't be shy, come on down and get to learning about the region.

The executive branch of the government is the largest one, and the one where most citizens get involved to start. It is composed of the Prime Minister, the President, and the cabinet, which is in turn made up of several ministers, who are appointed by the Prime Minister. Here is a rundown of who currently all of the largest executive slots.

So, you're probably wondering what all of those posts mean, and what we (the ministers and executive) actually do.

Well, the President serves as the head of state for the region, and is our WA delegate, meaning he oversees all WA legislation on behalf of the region. He also manages parts of the region, helping to moderate the Discord and regional message board. There is currently no occupant of this post, due to a nasty bit of controversy related to the last general election. However, a snap election is scheduled to choose a replacement, with the two declared candidates being The marconian state and Snowflame. Normally, the post is elected every four months.

The Prime Minister is tasked with managing the rest of the executive, and appoints and chooses the rest of the Ministers, overseeing all of their projects and working to create cohesion in the Cabinet. Korsinia is the incumbent Prime Minister, having served since February. The post is elected every four months.

The Foreign Affairs Minister handles embassies for the region, and deals with foreign dignitaries and representatives to discuss treaties, or proposals, or to smooth over any diplomatic incidents that may occur. The Bigtopia has been serving in this post for several months. The Education Minister manages the very factbook series you currently are reading, and teaches the members of the region about history or government, or whatever else. I (Titanne) am the first Education Minister for the region. The Justice Minister serves as the legal representation for the government in all disputes, and is tied with the Court system. There is no official incumbent, but The helvetic imperium is currently having his house hearing. The Interior Minister handles lots of little things, including the management of the RMB and Discord, welcoming new members to the region, and other work for the rest of the executive. No-one has been named as it's appointee yet, buth with the Culture Minister, who hosts fun events for the region and tries to generally improve the quality of life here and make it more fun, Antenion is awaiting his confirmation hearing, similar to Helvetic.

The legislative branch of the government is the second largest branch of the government, writing the laws for the region, and confirming both judicial and ministerial appointees as chosen by the Prime Minister, in both instances. The legislature is split into two houses, the Senate, consisting of 7 members, and the House of Commons, consisting of 11 members. The following 7 citizens are currently serving as Senators: Marvinville, Andusre, Islonia, Brototh, Dendrobium, and World Trade. One seat is currently vacant. Marvinville currently serves as the Senate Chair, meaning he handles the docket, and decides the timescale for when things go to vote or debate in the chamber.

The Senate is in charge of approving judicial nominees, and sort of unofficially is the senior chamber of the legislative branch, given it has less members than the House of Commons. As for the House of Commons, there are 11 members, who are as follows: Zanaana, Bahnhof, Rhyssua, Prussian sail nation, Zon island, Indian genius, Satherland islands, Shoila, Hoping for the best. Currently two seats are vacant. Zanaana is the current speaker of the House, having served since the midterms in April. The House is the larger chamber of Congress, and is in charge of confirming ministerial nominees. The House also differentiates from the Senate in the way that it is split into committees, the Executive Overreach Committee, the Domestic Affairs Committee, and the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The judicial branch is by far the smallest and most prestigious of the three branches of the government. The three justices that make up the branch are Lemonadia, who is the Chief Justice, and Broustan and Cerdenia. The Court hears cases on all sorts of disputes within the region, whether it be an argument between citizens, a concerned resident who feels that the government has disregarded the law or just a simple constitutional review, where a citizen needs to know exactly what a law or phrase in the Constitution means, and if it applies to the situation they think it does.

The judiciary also has a Deputy Justice, so that there's an option to step up onto the bench should a vacancy come up without any notice. The Chief Justice is additionally tasked with administering the Thaecian Bar Exam, which is the course all residents must take if they want to become certified lawyers. These lawyers can be called upon if a party involved in a court case can't or doesn't want to defend themselves. Two types of these lawyers exist: public defenders, who can't decline cases, and prosecutors, who can.

Finally, despite not being an official branch of government, the electoral commission operates outside of the rest of the structure of government, setting the schedule for elections, tabulating votes, holding debates, and doing whatever else they see fit to make the election season as fun and as fair as possible. The commissioner is nominated by the President and confirmed by the House of Commons.

The current electoral commissioner is Hulldom.
