Happy Confederate Heroes Day! For those unaware, Texas and six other states observe a holiday today to honor those who died fighting for the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. Normally, we would suggest that you thank a veteran today, however, we are pretty sure they have all moved on. So remember the brave soldiers and decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers if you get a chance.
Kudos to Issues Test Bed on his victories in the Forest Photo Contest!

We start the guac with farm-fresh, 100% Texan, perfectly-ripened, Haas Avocados, gently mashed with just the right amount of freshly-squeezed lime juice, diced Roma tomatoes, diced red onions, salt, and a pinch of chopped cilantro. We pair this with a healthy serving of fresh, hearty, rich, and fluffy, electric yellow, Grade AA, scrambled eggs. The taco is hermetically sealed in a Stay-Warm® pouch that is wrapped in the same ol' aluminum foil we are all so familiar with for our breakfast taco. We are trying to keep it real, peeps. For your beverage accompaniment, a packet of Sanka, Tang and a Lipton Tea bag will be included with every delivery as well as salt and pepper and a napkin. Yes, it is different, but it works and you do not even have to leave your residence. Woo! And, watch out for the drones! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. ***** Texas Chat Reminder *****
The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, or 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.
The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php
Please register with your nation name. This is an excellent opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, debate, and talk about the weather, stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff, and more. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and discussing the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans, VirtualTexans, and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome.
We have added a new feature to Texas Chat, Texas Movie Chat! Chat with Texans while watching a movie. Fun stuff! So far we have watched Halloween, Shootout at the OK Corral, Red, and recently a few new Star Trek series episodes. Want to watch something together?
Texas Chat, 922 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 18¼ years! Check it out! Good stuff!
Greetings from the International Democratic Union! Gardavasque is this year's host nation for our region's premiere annual cultural role play event, the IDU Film Festival. I'm pleased to announce an extended deadline for participating in our film festival. Nations of Texas are hereby invited/encouraged/welcomed to take part. (OOC, As an erstwhile resident of San Antonio, I think It'd be real nice to have some Texas representation in our event.)
In the time-honored tradition of IDU Film Festivals, the deadline for submitting nominated films has been extended one final time, until February 5th. This will allow a couple extra weeks to submit those entries. Here's all you need to know to participate in this creative and fun role play event.
WHO: Any film produced in an IDU resident nation is eligible for nomination in any category except "Best World Cinema Feature Film." Any film produced in a nation located within IDU embassy regions (North Pacific, 10000 Islands, Forest, Antarctic Oasis, World Assembly Legislative League, Yggdrasil, Texas, Europe, Balder, The South Pacific) is eligible for nomination in the category "Best World Cinema Feature Film." Multiple submissions are acceptable, and films may be nominated in more than one category.
WHAT: By nominating your film, you are simply giving a written description of your film (no actual filming or editing is necessary).
WHEN: Please submit your nominations as soon as possible. Why not today? The deadline for submitting nominated films from your nation has been extended one final time to allow for greater participation. The deadline for submitting your nominated film is Sunday, February 4th, 2023 at 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time. On Monday, February 5th, 2023, a new voting thread will be created and all IDU nations (whether or not they submitted an film from their nation) will be allowed to vote on the categories Best Picture, Best Director, Best Lead Performance, Best Supporting Performance, Best Documentary, Best Costume Design, and Best Special Effects Design. Each IDU resident nation and each nation from an IDU Embassy Region is invited to participate in the voting process by voting for one film per category. Nations submitting a film nomination may cast one additional vote per category (maximum of 2 votes).
WHERE: Nominations are being collected on this thread: https://idugov.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2373&pid=22798#pid22798. If you don't have access to the IDU Regional Forum, find me on Discord or send me a NS Telegram with the required information, and I will post it on your behalf.
WHY: The art of motion pictures is an outstanding way for you to express the the uniqueness and cultural beauty of your nation while also describing what audiences in your nation find remarkable. It is interesting and fun to express your nation's culture and ideals through this medium. And best of all, the nation who submits the film that wins for Best Picture will have the honor of hosting the next IDU Film Festival.
HOW: To nominate a film produced in your nation, go to this thread (https://idugov.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2373&pid=22798#pid22798). Then cut and paste these prompts into your reply on the thread:
Film Title, Language, Run Time:
Briefly, explain why this picture/performance/director/design is nominated:
And Voila, that's it you're done, just like that, easy peasy. Please feel free to find on the IDU Discord or send me an NS Telegram with any questions.
What are you doing in the rejected realms?
