My lady, I am a bald headed old fart who has been rode hard and put up wet more times than can be counted just this year. I've already been dead once. I am not worried about what comes next. There are some days I actually look forward to the day I am allowed back in the other side.

When the Fates are finished with me and Atropos cuts my thread, I want to come sliding in at Thanatos' feet in a well used body with the words "Wow! What a ride" on my lips. Who knows. That might even give old Cloak and Bones a smile as he collects my soul for the trip to whatever come next.

But thank you for your concern, Lady Leia. Please give my best to Verner.

Good morning Texans!

First, I would like to thank everyone in Texas who prayed for me to get well and recover from my heart attack. Your prayers are very much appreciated and I thank you from the bottom of my still recovering heart.

Secondly, I would like to thank everyone in Texas who replied to my question:
What do you enjoy watching on YouTube and what are your favorite channels, Texans?

I asked the question above in order to find new channels and videos to watch and new music to listen to on YouTube. I will be going through your replies and having fun watching or listening to the videos and channels suggested. Thank you all again. Nyah ha ha ha! :)

Lastly, my heart will be filled with joy if I could consider everyone in this Texas region as my buddies. :)

Verner, of Fort Verden, we do not know what happened to you, but you better get well! Texas needs you and all your family, as just that, a family. We know you will be ok because you are one tough old coot. So, suck it up and win this challenge. We know you can do it Iron Dad!

Big Tex, I had a heart attack and nearly died. I did not know it was possible for fit and healthy young athletes to have heart attacks until it happened to me. My heart is no longer bulletproof, strong and powerful. :(

I do not deserve to be called Iron Dad but thank you for giving me that title and for the encouraging Texas Shout Out, buddy!

NewTexas wrote:BTW, we didn't really think he was an "old coot", we just wanted to try and get his goat since calling youngsters like your dad "old" seems to bother them. We thought it might cause a rise out of him if he was up and around to see it. He will just have to wait. Get well soon, Verner!

Good try buddy, but you will not get a rise out of me that easily. Additionally, I am much honored to be called an “old coot” by an actual “old coot” and hope to live long enough to actually deserve to be called an “old coot” eventually. Nyah ha ha ha! :)

Big Tex 0: 1 Verner Von Richthofen

When I was ten years old and my Dad hit me with the baseball bat hard enough to break my arms and legs and all my ribs, he gave me massive internal damage and bleeding as well. I ended up in the ICU for two months and the regular hospital ward for one month and whenever I was conscious, tears flowed out of me. Unfortunately the dying boy survived but was very broken and damaged inside. I had too much anguish, hurt, pain and sadness inside my heart. There was no hate because for some unknown reason, I did not hate my Dad. My heart wanted to explode with all these negative emotions. I turned into an endless fountain of tears and I cried a lot.

My maternal uncle and aunt raised me after my drunk and abusive Dad tried to end my life. The turning point came when my aunt and uncle were asked to meet the Principal. Not because I was a mischievous prankster like my sons but for crying too much in school. The Principal told my aunt and uncle, “Your nephew is a broken and damaged child. He keeps crying. We know what happened to him and we are sorry but please do not send him back to school until he is fully healed.”

My uncle taught me to meditate in order to calm myself down and control my emotions. It worked very well and instead of merely meditating for a few minutes, half an hour, or even an hour, I decided to meditate the entire day. Whenever I am awake I am continuously meditating to keep myself calm. All it takes to meditate continuously were the words, “I am calm. I am in control.” repeating eternally in my head.

Later my uncle introduced me to Star Trek and I discovered Vulcans. Vulcans possessed impressive emotional control and were emotionless. I admired the Vulcans, wanted to be like a Vulcan and started to suppress and purge my emotions. I have purged most of my emotions. As of today, the only emotions I am unable to purge are joy and love but I do not feel the need to purge these positive emotions. Therefore Big Tex, you cannot get a rise out of me because my heart is filled with, and can only feel joy and love and I have been meditating continuously to remain calm since I was ten years old. Nyah ha ha ha! :)

Edge Calibur wrote:Great Scott! Your Dad had a Heart Attack at 38 years old?! That sucks!! :(

It sucks indeed and my heart attack was waiting to happen since the Thursday before that Friday morning.

At the office on Thursday, we received the new furnitures we ordered and were exchanging and moving furniture around. I pulled my weight and pitched in to move the furnitures where they needed to go in order to show off my ability to lift and move heavy stuff. I am 6’ 3” tall and on Thursday morning, I weighted 170 lbs. I have a lanky physique and I am unused to lifting any heavy weights. Since my marriage to my beloved wife, whenever I needed anything heavy lifted at home, I would call one or both of my brother-in-laws over. They would always carry out any heavy lifting for me.

I should have let my younger or older and more muscular employees lift and move the heavy furnitures at work. By showing off my macho-ness, I as good as killed myself. That said, I believe I would have been fine if I did not have a severely blocked artery in my heart. The strenuous activity of lifting and moving around heavy furniture when I was unused to that type of exertion for too many years put too much strain upon my heart with the blocked artery.

Quetzalleia wrote: We are doing our best to support Verner. However, I’ve failed him. I’m not just my lord’s wife. I’m his primary care physician and primary cardiologist too. Last year I failed to persuade him to have a coronary angiogram that could have detected this blockage and prevented his heart attack this year. He won the final argument by saying he was a fit and healthy young athlete with no known family history of heart disease. I’ll always be extremely sorry because I let him win this argument. Because as a result he almost died and is now a heart patient and heart attack survivor. :(

Leia my love, you did not fail me, are not to be blamed and do not need to feel sorry. The fault was entirely mine and the blame rests solely upon me for being adamant that I did not need to have an angiogram.

NewTexas wrote:Wow, just wow! It just goes to show, you never know. You can "do everything right" and even excel at that and it still can get you whether "it" be a Heart Attack or Cancer or Stroke or whatever. It is just so tragic when it happens to someone who is arguably or obviously more healthy than someone else.

Go Verner, Superman Junior!

Big Tex, I do not deserve to be called Superman Junior but thank you buddy!

Big Tex 1: 1 Verner Von Richthofen

Unfortunately I did not do everything right. I should have agreed to have the coronary angiogram recommended by my beloved wife to completely check my heart for hidden problems. Due to my winning those arguments my beloved wife mentioned, I did not succeed in completely bulletproofing my strong and powerful athlete’s heart.

Stars and Suns Imperium wrote: A Happy Belated 39th Birthday to Verner of Fort Verden. Since you’re probably still being hospitalized, I’ve no idea whether you had a good birthday. I hope you’re feeling better and have many more and happier birthdays in future. :)

A big thank you to everyone who wished me Happy Birthday but that was the worst birthday I have ever celebrated. As my beloved wife mentioned, I suffered nine cardiac arrests on my birthday. I did not put any strain upon my heart. All I did was wake up and for the next hour my heart kept going into cardiac arrests and attempted to stop beating. I regained consciousness the previous day and was still confused and disoriented. I did not know that I was on life support and therefore unable to die. I loudly begged God to end my suffering and call me back to him, I was ready to die. Being defibrillated nine times in the span of an hour hurts despite being on intravenous painkillers. I never want to celebrate another birthday like it for the rest of my life. Fortunately, I am feeling much better and hope to have many more happier birthdays in future too.

NewTexas: Big Tex my buddy, I would have loved to have received a Texas Shout Out wishing me a Happy Birthday. Where is it? :(

Cajun Winterfell wrote: Vincent, I was going to suggest playing your Dad’s favorite music to him if he didn’t become conscious soon.

Good idea Falcona! Except instead of my favorite music, my three sons would probably have played or sung to me the most annoying piece of music I have ever heard. The Skyrim Theme Song, the Song of the Dragonborn! I enjoyed Skyrim when I was checking it out before permitting my sons to play it. But one, two or all three of my sons are always singing this song and it appears to be the only music they can sing. It was driving me nuts. Nyaaa….!

Edge Calibur wrote: Verner wants to give up and die? Leia, please tell Verner he had better live!! He needs to live!

In high school, I lost my faith in God and became an Atheist. God was unfair and didn’t answer my prayers. I stopped going to church. But due to the need to pray and light prayer candles for Verner to get well, I started going to church and became a Christian again. So tell Verner he had better live because he rekindled my faith in God. And if he dies, all the time I spent in church praying for him to recover and all the candles I lit for him will be for nothing!!! Grrrr!

My beloved wife does not need to tell me now that I have seen the message myself. I am very glad to have rekindled your faith in God. Thank you for your prayers and for lighting prayer candles for me, Emmett. Why did you lose your faith in God and became an Atheist?

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Defending The Rights Of Sexual And Gender Minorities
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Civil Rights Strength: Significant Proposed by: Maowi

HOLDING that the sexuality or gender of an individual does not make them inferior"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Synopsis: The General Assembly wants to take command of Civil Rights in your nation on this one that attempts to "ORDER" you to "to provide the same civil marriage services for individuals of all sexualities and genders". That is all great and dandy if you already do that. Not so much if you don't. It is your call if you want to relenquish freedom of choice. No Stars. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was up on the last GA vote -- Right To Self-Defense -- which was defeated after gaining only 34.6% of the vote. Hi everyone. Just founded this nation (although I'm not new to the game). The premise behind my nation is that English King Henry V didn't die of dysentery at a young age (as he did in the real timeline) and went on to conquer the whole of France after his victory at Agincourt. Nice to meet you all anyway!

Interesting! It never occurred to me to set up a nation based upon a particular counterfactual. And that's a good one to contemplate.

Good morning Texans!

My uncle and aunt had six children when they adopted me into their family. At the time, I became the first and only boy in my new family. My aunt did not want me to corrupt her six well mannered daughters. She set a few rules for me to obey and the first rule was “No profanity”. The first and only time I broke the rule and used profanity was when I stubbed my toe against a piece of furniture in the living room. That really hurt and I used the F-bomb. My aunt was in the room and slapped me on both sides of my face until I turned as red as a tomato for using profanity. She only needed to punish me once and I never misbehaved in any way again. Until today I still remembered those slaps whenever I felt like using profanity and controlled myself.

Indeed, it $*¥%™&£ well hurt! However, I will not lose control and use profanity even when I am dying.

But I did use profanity when I was ten years old and dying in the hospital emergency room after my drunk and abusive Dad tried to end my life. My Dad could swear like a sailor. He raised me when I was five years old. By the time I was six years old I could do the same. Having chest compressions and defibrillations done on me when all my ribs were broken hurts much worse than merely being defibrillated internally by my Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator.

Issues Test Bed wrote:Oddly enough I died when I was 37. Fairly close to your age.

The last question is the easiest. You are going live your life to the fullest extent you are able. You are going to watch your children grow up, you are going to be there when they ask you advice, and you will help them up when they stumble.

A very wise man once said words to the effect of, "Argue for your limitations and you shall have them." From what I read here, my guess is you are not the type of person to argue for them.

As for advice... I'm not sure I am the right person to be giving that. My death experience was more of an awakening then anything. People look at me funny when I say it is the best thing that ever happened to me.

However, there is one thing. When you go for cardiac rehab where they will have you rowing the boat that isn't there and pedaling the bicycle to nowhere, keep in mind that a kind of zen philosophy exists in the process. There is pain for the therapist's pleasure. There is pain for your benefit. Nirvana exists in that scarce bit of pain where those two conditions overlap.

Strive for that balance and you will regain your strength.
