The Empire of Narusegawa has decided to provide its citizens with free bags of popcorn as they watch the debate over this resolution.

Today I am honoring the memories of those that rushed in while others ran out. Never forget.

Safj wrote:Can't remember the last time I've received so many telegrams over a WA Resolution.

Yes, me too. I got three against and one for. This was my response to the one pleading for my vote in favor.

--------------------------------------

If this ridiculously bad, poorly thought out resolution passes, this nation will simply make criminals "disappear."

What bleeding heart people like yourself fail to realize is that some people need executing. Terrorist that blow the limbs and lives off of innocent shoppers in a market. Activists ambushing police officers. Predators so heinous that describing the details brought forth in the trials I covered would probably result in a ban from this site.

If one does the crime, one agrees the penalty can be death. The system may not be perfect, but warehousing them is not the answer.

I proudly voted against this nonsense. Let member nations set their own internal standards.

Yes, I came in today to five. Completely nuts.

Hey guys. I got to go catch a hurricane. Might be gone for a while, primarily because the infrastructure is about to get clobbered and internet access might be a pain in the a... errr, tail.

If anything comes up, leave a message with NewTexas.

Apparently, the WA co-author on the Ban has read the writing on the wall and is offering up something similar, yet watered-down, in Preventing The Execution Of Innocents. Hang on to your shorts, this ride ain't over yet. That goes for you too Issues Test Bed! We look forward to the coverage. Which channel should we watch?

Well what do the good folk of Texas think of my new flag. I figure new Coach new Flag

A mushroom, or toadstool, is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source.

That's what I saw too.

I knew the answer, was curious if other Texnas did.

I am here. Not only is the Waffle House open and cooking, but Jim Cantore came in and had breakfast with us. (After a live shot with the Waffle House crew, that is...)

Agreed, but you take what you can get.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Preventing The Execution Of Innocents
A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Civil Rights Strength: Mild Proposed by: Imperium Anglorum

Whereas there is considerable disagreement in the Assembly about the merits of banning capital punishment"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>"

Synopsis: The General Assembly wants to ban the Death Penalty in your nation again, but does not flat out say that, instead, it requires you to have a WA agent from "Division" review your findings and approve the capital punishment. Be aware, there is a limit Division will see - 1 per 1 million in population. In a nation the size of NewTexas, that would be roughly 34,000+ cases a year. Needless to say, NewTexas has nowhere near that many capital cases a year, so all of them will be reviewed by the WA, because, well, mistakes sometimes happen. This is up to you. Zero Stars. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was up again the last GA vote -- Ban On Capital Punishment -- which was defeated after gaining only 43.7% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 8 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 1 FOR and 7 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were almost unanimous!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All Texas WA Member nations please vote. Please make your Texan opinions known in Texas by 11:00 PM Sunday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00 PM Texas Time on Monday the 17th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 6701 Votes AGAINST: 5592

Big Tex

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Giddyup Texans! Saturday breakfast time for both you and your horsies! Today we are pleased to present Oatmeal-A-Rama! For our health-conscious, heart-healthy Texans, we present a breakfast dedicated to one of Nature's finest grains - the oat! We will start it off with classic Oatmeal kicked up a notch. Also known as porridge, our Oatmeal is made using de-husked, rolled, flattened and lightly toasted oats that are then boiled to tender perfection - not too mushy, not too chewy, not too cold, not too hot - just right. The magic starts there with the endless quantity of toppings you can add to your Oatmeal. We will be offering up a couple of pre-prepared favorites, but customization is also an option and the way many like to go. The Classic is, well, a classic with brown sugar cinnamon, butter, and cream. The Pumpkin-Pie-inator has cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and vanilla extract for a treat we bet you have never tasted before. The Apple Deluxe has diced, genuine Texas Granny Smith apples cooked in with the Oatmeal along with a splash of almond milk, a dash of maple syrup and topped off with chopped toasted pecans. Woo, that is good stuff! Our custom Oatmeal add-ons include, but are not limited to: sliced almonds, pear pieces, shredded coconut, dehydrated cranberries, dark chocolate mini-chips, chopped bacon, pepitas, dry-roasted hazelnuts, honey, ginger snaps, applesauce, pistachios, dried apricots, walnuts, raisins, banana slices, graham crackers, apple chunks, peanut butter, peach jam and maple butter. The combinations are staggering. Not into porridge? We have fresh, homemade Granola or Muesli if you want a different oat-delivery vehicle. We will also be dishing up our ever-popular Oatmeal pancakes with or without blueberries. Toasted Oatmeal bread is a meal in itself. Complimentary Oatmeal mini-muffins are on every table. Remember, Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy. Oh Boy! Oatmeal-A-Rama Shama-Lama-Ding-Dong! The Juice Bar will be open with Apple Juice and Orange Juice. Today's funky one is Pineapple-Mango Madness - sweet, tart and tangy! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Texas Coffee doesn't get much better. Come on down and start your day right Texas. You know you want to!

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours.

The Texas Chat Site is here: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php

Please register with your nation name. This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans, and plenty of Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 706 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 14 years! Check it out! Good stuff!

Yes, he's cool. We've worked a few hurricanes and one shuttle launch together over the years.
