**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Freedom Of Expression For Organisations
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: Furtherment of Democracy Strength: Significant Proposed by: Uan aa Boa

The World Assembly,

Reaffirming the right of individuals to express themselves freely without fear of reprisal from the state"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Synopsis: Our friends over in Forest are going for a two-fer with this General Assembly Resolution that attempts to declare corporations and organizations as "persons" and then grants rights to them. This one is a little shaky. We are just not too sure about this. We will give it a chance, but something is striking us as being a bit off. Two Stars. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response barely emerged from the gutter on the last GA vote -- Uniform Labeling Of Hazardous Goods -- which was passed after gaining 92.8% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 2 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 2 FOR and 0 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All Texas WA Member nations please vote. Please make your Texan opinions known in Texas by 11:00 PM Thursday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00 AM Texas Time on Friday the 24th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 1390 Votes AGAINST: 5700

That strikes me as something that should be left to individual nations and not mandated by the WA. My WA slave... errr, I meant WA nation will be voting against.

The concern of Narusegawa is that this is a slippery slope. If a corporation has the same freedom of expression as an individual, they actually have more power and agency to express their views than the average citizen. Consider the power of advertising, and how much more access corporations have to buy ad space about their particular issue or viewpoint.

Purely from an equity stance, corporations should not have the same rights as a person, because they are far greater than any one person but not controlled by the people - unless the state owns them. If the state does not, then corporations are the voices of the board of directors and CEO, not a group of like-minded individuals.

Organizations, on the other hand, are ostensibly a group of like-minded citizens that have joined together out of a particular interest or viewpoint. In theory, they do enjoy the freedom of speech as their members join forces and speak out.

At this time, we cannot support the resolution - we are still considering it. If the language would address only certain types of organizations and leave profit-seeking entities out of it, we would be more in favor.

I taught electronics at a community college years ago. Maybe that is something I should consider when I get too old to be on the road.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Administrative Compliance Act
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: Furtherment of Democracy Strength: Significant Proposed by: Separatist Peoples

Understanding that many nations deliberately contravene international laws to gain an unfair advantage over their neighbours"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Synopsis: The General Assembly is trying to increase its size and power under the auspices of "succor[ing] its victims". Yeah right. "Succoring"? Really? We think the last time that word was used was the mid-1800s. Thank you, but no thank you; we will not be succored by this one. No Stars. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was way up on the last GA vote -- Freedom Of Expression For Organisations -- which was defeated after gaining only 20.9% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 6 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 4 FOR and 2 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were somewhat split on that one.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new Security Council Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Commend Confederation Of Corrupt Dictators
A resolution to recognize outstanding contribution by a nation or region.

Category: Commendation Nominee: Confederation of Corrupt Dictators Proposed by: ShrewLlamaLand

The Security Council,

Acknowleding the efforts made by the Confederation of Corrupt Dictators (herein the Confederation) in creating the most populous collective of fascist nations in the world"...

<see the Security Council for full text and to vote>

Synopsis: The World Assembly is allowing one of its member nations to attempt to commend itself in the Security Council again. This never goes well as it is generally considered quite gauche to promote ones' self. Plus, did we mention, they are fascists. For those who need a little background on fascism, it is radical authoritarian ultranationalism, characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy. Fascists are scary. No Stars. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was flat on the last SC vote -- Commend Greater Dienstad -- which was passed after gaining 91.2% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! President Sara Hawkins expresses her deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Senator John McCain, that passed away today. The US Flag will be lowered today for a fallen hero.

Ryanvile and Egregious erudition

In 2008 the left in this nation called John McCain a racist, misogynist, sexist, ignorant, and many other things.

The Huffington Post declared Sen. McCain to be "Unfit for the Presidency."[1] The Slate's Christopher Hitchens declared McCain to be mentally ill.[2]

Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV (Jackass-WV), CBS's Bob Schieffer, Gen. Wesley Clark and hundreds of others in and around the media went out of their way to discredit McCain's service during Vietnam. And not just discredit his service, but to slander it and call him a war criminal.[3]

They did all this in spite of the common knowledge that McCain refused an early release from Hell.

The LGBT community, atheists, progressives, and anyone else afraid of a church went nuts when McCain selected Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. To hear the howling one would would have thought McCain selected Satan himself for the second seat in the nation.

But today, the Left is praising the late Sen. McCain as "a hero," "a man who put principal above politics," and "a friend to the poor." To read all the accolades pouring in from the Left, one would think they lost one of their own.

The only difference between now and all that hate from 2008-2014 is that Sen. McCain made nationwide headlines venting his hatred for President Trump. McCain's votes to derail President Trump's attempts to fix this mess helped a lot too.

But the people on the left, the New American Socialist Victim Workers Party, will tell you they absolutely do not practice revisionist history.

Go figure...

To be fair there are plenty of Trump's supporters that spout the same BS just because the Toddler in Chief doesnt like him.....

Look around online, and there are still plenty of people who don't like McCain. May not have agreed with all his politics but will still honor his service.

It IS possible to disagree with someone politically and still respect them and their beliefs. I think that's what is most wrong with the world right now, we have adopted this idea that disagreement means we have to hate each other.

I have disagreed with something every single president has done since I was old enough to understand just what I was talking about. But that doesn't mean I didn't respect them. On the contrary, I have enormous respect for all of our former presidents. They kept it classy, even after they were no longer in office.

Happy LBJ's Birthday Texas! For those unaware, today is a State Holiday in Texas. In case you need a refresher course on Lyndon Baines Johnson, LBJ served as the 36th President of the United States from 1963 to 1969 after his service as the 37th Vice President of the United States from 1961 to 1963. He is one of four Presidents - along with John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, and Richard Nixon - who served in all four elected Federal offices of the United States: Congressman, Senator, Vice President and President. He also has a bitchin' ranch that is a National Historical Park and is about 2.5 mi². It is located in Stonewall and protects the birthplace, home, ranch, and final resting place of LBJ. He would have been 110 today.
