NewTexas

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Repeal: "Enabling The Disabled In Academia"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal Resolution: GA#404 Proposed by: Imperium Anglorum

General Assembly Resolution #404 "Enabling The Disabled In Academia" (Category: Education and Creativity; Area of Effect: Educational) shall be struck out"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Oh yeah, we have an Insta-Repeal™! When this one came around ten days ago, Texans were pretty split on it by a vote of 3 for and 2 against. As a nation, we did not like it because we thought the WA was trampling on your national sovereignty and pulling at your heartstrings about the "poor" disabled people just trying to get an education. The author of this Resolution points out the exorbitant cost of implementing this Resolution amongst several other good points. As a reminder, the issue here is the REPEAL of the existing law. A vote AGAINST this Resolution means you are in favor of the existing law and do not want it repealed. A vote FOR this Resolution means you want the law off the books. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was flat on the last GA vote -- Limitations on banishment -- which was defeated after gaining only 19.6% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 4 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 1 FOR and 3 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were almost unanimous.

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. As we have been saying for years, Texas is a force in the WA. Many feel that Texas can influence the overall vote if it votes first. There is an observed "lemming effect" that occurs during voting. Apparently, a large number of votes are cast based on whichever side of the issue is leading when voters vote. Therefore, to get the most impact from our vote, we are now voting first. We will re-evaluate our original vote at midnight prior to the current vote. As always, we are open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect the opinion of the populace. Comments are welcome from all nations, both WA Members as well as those who are not. Please make your voice heard on the current issue either on this message board or on our offsite message board. But, by all means, please vote on the WA Page!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All WA Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known in Texas by 11:00 PM Saturday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00 AM Texas Time on Sunday the 6th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 3690 Votes AGAINST: 907

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new Security Council Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Commend Christian Democrats
A resolution to recognize outstanding contribution by a nation or region.

Category: Commendation Nominee: Christian Democrats Proposed by: United Massachusetts

The World Assembly,

Aware of the political controversy surrounding Christian Democrats, one of the most prominent"...

<see the Security Council for full text and to vote>

WooHoo! We have a Commendation to vote on. And guess what? It is just as controversial as all of them. Surprise, surprise. For those unaware, Christian Democrats has been around as a nation since the end of July, 2009. That is a long time in NS-years. The Resolution author details much of the back story of CD, as many call them. They have been quite active in Texas over the years often weighing-in on our offsite on WA issues and maintaining a puppet in Texas on occasion. We have a love/hate relationship with them. They are quite the spammer. They are one of less than 5 people we block TGs from. However, while annoying, they have done some good stuff over the years (see the list above). Additionally, they have been recognized for their immense knowledge of the WA's body of work and the rules governing adding to it. They are recognized for that through their appointment to the World Assembly General Assembly Secretariat. That is pretty high praise there for that is one small group. Overall, they have done some good work in The World. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was down on the last SC vote -- Condemn Wrektopia -- which was defeated after gaining only 29.0% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 3 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 0 FOR and 3 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!

A local radio station mentioned the Bay Bridge. It took until the second mention for me to realize they weren't referring to The Bay Bridge in San Francisco, but instead the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Yay! It is Texas Saturday Breakfast! We are keeping it simple today with Sausage & Biscuit Saturday! We will have plenty of varieties of homemade Sausage (pork, beef, chicken, turkey, chorizo, hot, mild, sweet or sage) expertly-formed into patties and browned up to perfection. Our featured sausage is the House Special - a whole hog, Texas-raised pork patty seasoned with the perfect blend of sage, maple and chili flakes. Also on the bill are some sweet and savory chicken and apple sausages with or without onion. Don't miss our super spicy red chorizo chock full of chili powder and super-juicy, super-spicy all-beef sausage with jalapeños, thyme, and chili flakes. We even have a Mild Italian Bomber full of fennel seed, garlic, flat-leaf parsley and a hint of chili flakes for those who like breakfast a little funky. We will even serve it with our homemade Fresh Tomato and Caramelized Onion Jam. All these blends can be ordered fried or grilled. And the biscuits are to die for! Lovingly-made, homemade biscuits come in both buttermilk and flaky styles. We will be cranking out these luscious chunks of leavened bread today in sizes ranging from a silver dollar to a salad plate. The sausages will be sized accordingly. So, pick a biscuit size and style and a sausage style and cooking method and let us do the rest! To accompany these wonderful gut grenades, we will make sure The Juice Bar is stocked up with all the standard juices - Orange, Apple, Grapefruit, and Tomato. Today's Funky Stuff is Serrano Mango Lime Slushie! It doesn't get much better than this! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Texas coffee doesn't get much better. Enjoy Texas! You know you want to!®

***** Texas Election Reminder *****

In Texas Election News, Second Trimester 2017 Texas Elections Nominations Week is winding down. Speech & Campaign Week starts Sunday, August 6, 2017, at High Noon Texas Time (GMT -6). So you only have about 1¼ days if you have any Texans to nominate for the Texas Government Cabinet and Texas Representative Council positions. We have a good slate of candidates, but you can never be too light on nominations. So, get out there and nominate your friend, your neighbor or even your enemy!

Almost all Cabinet nominees have accepted their nominations. And, almost all TRC nominees have as well. This is a rapidly changing landscape. Safj, Clear Creek, and Dennisov should check the Election forum if they would like to be on the ballot.

If you would like to make some Constitutional Amendments or Repeals to offer and or would like to propose new Articles, then you have until Sunday, August 13, 2017! Or, if you just have questions on how this works, there is a link to the forum at the top of this page! Just to be clear:

Why am I not seeing Borscht (with sour cream) in the morning breakfast......?
How am I suppose to feel loved when out of the 250+ words in this menu I can't find 1 mentioning of a sweet & tangy Ghiveci....? ? ? ? ?

Because it is Sausage & Biscuits for breakfast silly! You will just have to wait for Ghiveci for Breakfast Saturday, but don't hold your breath.

Jus be happy that you are being invited for the Breakfast. Stop making a fuss over the food. If you are not happy with the menu, don't attend the Breakfast session.

Are you planning on working in a pub in London?

The Grand Old Duchy of Ineptia wrote:Are you planning on working in a pub in London?

No but if i want to keep my job in the Australian Federal Police then i need to be an Australian citizen but i don't want to live in Australia forever and the commissioner has given me 2 weeks to get it otherwise i will have to resign and i don't want to do that.

Just because you have citizenship, doesn't mean you're stuck in that country.
