Jaffa Oranges? As in the Jaffa Cakes that are chocolate-covered orange-flavored things? I've tried them purely because of their name. They're absolutely disgusting in my opinion (and I like both oranges and chocolate).

I know that i just moved this nation in here, but I have a question. I already telegrammed Wrapper, but I was wondering if I could move Lenlyvit here as well. I'm a lot more active on my main nation >_>

Yay, I'm in my favorite region \o/

So, ah, is anyone else pissed they discontinued Stargate: Atlantis? I just finished watching it for the upteenth time, and that cliffhanger at the end still drives me crazy >_<

It wasn't as bad of a cliffhanger as Universe. In my mind, the way they left that one, I'm convinced they all died in the end.

Our officer nominations so far:

Commanding Officer (WA Delegate) -- Casl
Executive Officer
Secretary of State
Secretary of Defense -- SouthEast Brightonburg
ROTC Recruiter

Two weeks left to get our nominations in before elections start.

Speaking of which.... I nominate Nto-08 as XO.

I never watched Universe. I thought it was a knock off :/

I wasn't a big fan of Universe, but thought it could have come into its own given enough time. Problem was that it targeted a different demographic than what the Stargate franchise built its fan base off of. Stargate was about cool sci-fi tech and generally good and likable main characters that you want to root for. Universe had little of the former and an absolute lack of the latter. Sure, dark and gritty worked for Battlestar Galactica because there's been several decades of separation between the original series and the reboot, so it's a completely different generation of fans to work with, but that's not the case for the Stargate franchise. It's the same generation who didn't get what they expected from a well-established franchise - not always bad in and of itself, but it was in this case. So yeah, it did come off as a knock off that used the Stargate name but otherwise had little to do with Stargate save for their use of a near-instantaneous wormhole travel via a circular gateway. It might have fared better on its own without trying to be a part of the Stargate franchise. Perhaps you can watch it with that in mind.

Maybe, or I could keep re-watching SG1 and Atlantis.......

Knock off of what? And what were you expecting?

Nto-08 wrote:Knock off of what? And what were you expecting?

A knock off of Stargate in general. From what I hear, all it is is a crew stuck on a ship with no way off. I prefer the original Stargate SG1 and Stargate: Atlantis.

Universe was a tale only partly told. It came to TV at a time when scifi was waxing and 'reality' shows were waning. If it had been allowed to continue, the writiers might have been able to flesh out the Stargate universe with much greater depth and on a larger scale.

*5 hours ago: The Colony of Greater Cesnica of the region RGBN proposed constructing embassies. *

I do not believe we are a good match with them. After all, they have an embassy with a 'My Little Pony'-themed region.

***NEW STARGATE WEBISODE SERIES ANNOUNCED: STARGATE: ORIGINS***

Just announced last night at Comic Con. Courtesy of our friends at GateWorld:

Stargate Origins is a 10-episode digital series, which will explore the untold backstory of Catherine Langford — who first appeared in the 1994 feature film and then in Stargate SG-1‘s first season. “Young Catherine embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save Earth from unimaginable darkness.”....

The subscription-based Stargate Command platform is meant to be MGM’s new home for the franchise and its fans, offering exclusive content not only from the production of SGO but also from the franchise’s 20-year history. MGM regards the project as a way to give back to Stargate’s fans.....

Stargate Command will have both free elements and paid content for subscribers. The studio also hopes to make the platform available to the fan community worldwide, though international plans are still being hammered out. Expect updates on both of these fronts soon.

Looks like the series is for ten episodes, each ten minutes long.
