The animal would be changed depending on the current WA delegate's national animal.

Nah, we'll have a pride flag if Panther makes one

Panther for Delegate
Tyrant

Delegate

Have you ever thought your life lacked oppression?

Have you ever considered that this region might just be a bit too free?

Did you ever desire Cake?

Vote PANTHER for Delegate.

The Authority is Capricious
The Zealotry is Omnipresent
The Cake is Free

As a dark mode enthusiast, I very much approve of the dark theme you have in your dispatch.

You've won my vote purely on dispatch aesthetics 👍

Densaner wrote:Ah Chicago. Loved my trip there. Nicer when it isn't on fire, of course.

I fell in love with the city when I came here for Uni and never left.

I believe this is the fourth burning. The first in 1871 with the great Chicago fire followed by the riots after the Martin Luther King assassination and the Democratic National Convention in 1968 where Mayor Daley said "Gentlemen, get the thing straight once and for all – the policeman isn't there to create disorder, the policeman is there to preserve disorder."

Panther wrote:I haven't been following the events of Chicago. I used to live there, and feel a strong affinity for the city. What's the sense in the air? And is the rioting contained to the South Side, or is it elsewhere, too?

I spent a year in Philly for Grad School, until I changed directions, and it pains me to see what's happening there. I lived in Paoli at the time. I hope that nothing happens to damage the Wanamakers Grand Court Organ.

The riots and looting are not only in the city but range to the far Northern, Southern, and Western upscale suburbs, Napierville and Gurney for example. We have Antifa and other factions coming from out of state to fan the flames. In one way, Daley's 1968 quote seems to have repeated itself.

Iggly iggle

The first completely official flag of Iggly Iggle is now being used. The dark green represents the country's path to a greener, healthier country. The giant panda is the country's official animal, and the six white stars along the side are simply there for aesthetic purposes.

The panda's so cute!
Love it. Are you an asian nation?

Rivierenland, thought I'd just poke you to say that if you intend on running for delegate, you need to make your official declaration some time this week.

I really hope that means that pandas aren't endangered in your nation :((

I had a quick thinking to myself and have come to the conclusion that i'm not going to run. Because if i would, i'd possibly be here until 2021 which isn't my intention

Why don't you just bribe Maowi into bringing in their WA nation here to run?

Forgive my (so-long) indiffirence on the matter. But, how are Regional Heads voted into power, in NS?

Some regions have elections, others it's just public confidence that comes into play while other times it's just random selection

I cannot access that link you provided, but I would be interested to see what you have in mind.

I'll have a couple design ideas today for folks to look at. I turned my brain off most of yesterday, so did not work on anything.

Your new flag looks great, by the way.

That's right, I seem to remember you mentioning that before. It is, indeed, a great city. It could be amazing, if it weren't for all the segregation. I remember when a friend of mine from Philly came to visit me in Chicago...we walked around all of the beautiful places on the North Side, where I lived, and at one point she just stopped and remarked: "Where are all of the Black people?" And all I could do was give an uncomfortable smile and tell her that they're all on the South Side, and then try to explain some of the more unfortunate parts of Chicago's history.

Looks like they lifted all of the bridges into the Loop. That's crazy. I've never seen them do that before...

A Down and Dusky Blonde wrote:I spent a year in Philly for Grad School, until I changed directions, and it pains me to see what's happening there. I lived in Paoli at the time. I hope that nothing happens to damage the Wanamakers Grand Court Organ.

Oh yes, I know the area of Paoli, though I've not been there specifically. I do not envy what must have been your commute into the city proper for school...

Regarding the Wanamaker Organ...that's actually a good question. I have no information good information regarding its present state. I know the square directly across the street from the Macy's that it lives in was one of the main epicenters for the protests, and that the store itself was vandalized and looted:

Police say rioters breached Macy’s at 13th and Chestnut.

A rioter is hanging out of the window of the second floor at Macy’s.

Macy’s has been over run by rioters.

Police ask how many officers are at the Macy’s and they’re told there are zero. They are all responding now.

SWAT clears out first hot spot with sweeping arrests, zeroing in on all rioters. They have cleared out their first search of Macy’s.

The rioters busted windows to get out of Macy’s fled.

Officers are now zeroing in on lone-rogue rioters walking around. Macy’s is still looking for the men hiding men’s department, 10 of them. Macy’s called from Florida as they were watching the surveillance from their home.

Looters are in the menswear department, approximately ten of them, according to Macy’s protection department.

‘we have a looter.’ Macy’s lone-rioter runs out with items.

That's all the relevant info about the Macy's. I'll let you know the status if and when this is all over...

It depends where one lives. In my suburb, we have blacks, hispanics, asians and white. One of my neighbor families is black and the other is hispanic. Is that integrated enough?

The drive wasn't so bad. I had either 30 0r 202 to take into the city. I was used to commuting in large metro areas from my time at Northwestern.

The reason that I am concerned about the Wanamaker organ is that it is, and hopefully still is the world's largest "working" pipe organ. I attended its centenary concert in 2011.
