Also since we're now one week away from the elections, I'm opening declarations for peeps planning on running.

I know how distraught y'all will be to lose your magnificent ducktator, and that's entirely fair. No-one can hope to be wonderful enough to hope to replace me.
So all you foolish peeps who want to try, please declare your candidacy now.

So you all know, my final misuse of power will be to banject anyone I dislike who tries to run for delegate <3
Goodnight.

Well, you’ve a good run. All good things must come to an end. A duck in the stomach is worth two in a gunsight.

Vote Pants, assuming there is an election.

:)

Now, is it "pants" as in a pair of slacks? Or "pants" as in the act of an animal panting?

Definition 1, description (h). See definition 2 for further information. :P

Wow...I never knew the other British definitions for "pants." Looks like we've another "fanny" situation, here. Quite humorous. Do you know how the "rubbish" definition came about?

I will wear both definitions with pride.

Panther wrote:I will wear both definitions with pride.

You should. 😜

I think it relate to underpants. Said garments being on the less attractive end of the clothing scale, hence underpants = pants = rubbish, or garbage, as you would say. Yes, we often find it hilarious when you lot refer to the “f” word. I think Inigo Montoya put it best....

Store bought black tea with milk and two sugars.

I have simple tastes.

Can't you be re-elected?

Johanneslanden Isn't it time to change the region flag to something more pride?

Rivierenland wrote:Johanneslanden Isn't it time to change the region flag to something more pride?

I agree, instead of a picture as our region's flag, how about a nice simplistic but still interesting design?

Republic of Gran Colombia wrote:Can't you be re-elected?

I could run again, but I'm choosing not to.

Rivierenland wrote:Johanneslanden Isn't it time to change the region flag to something more pride?

Good point

Nah, we had a regional competition, and we voted on this as our flag. It's not the most complex flag ever... looks at Bhutan

Then we could keep the current design, but make small adjustments, (colour change, add small details etc.)

Not this time, I'll wait til I have at least 12 billion people.

What we could need is a pride version of this flag

I agree. Good idea! 👏

That's sad. But why? 😔
If you ever want to look at complex flag designs, might I suggest: the flag of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

I ran for the first time because the only other candidate was someone who'd almost never interacted with the region. I ran the second time because there were a couple of things I'd wanted to finish from my first term.
I don't have any reason to run for a third time, provided I think there's a decent candidate running, and it'd be healthier for the region to have a change of delegate rather than me sitting on top for another six months.

Meh, the saudi's flag's a bit boring. I really like Iran's; the kufic script border looks really pretty

Many nations and delegates have come and gone during my time here. And as one era ends, let another begin. I wish any candidates who choose to run the best of luck*. I will throw my hat into the ring again at some point. IMHO the delegacy should have a term limit applied to it. At a future election I will make this part of my platform. Let’s have a good clean contest, maybe.

*Vote Pants!

Chicago isn't any better. The looters struck only a few blocks from my home.

Ah Chicago. Loved my trip there. Nicer when it isn't on fire, of course.

Densaner wrote:Ah Chicago. Loved my trip there. Nicer when it isn't on fire, of course.

All I know about Chicago is from the Midtown Madness game, when I was a kid.

I suppose I should officially announce that I will be running for the delegacy. I had this whole "thing" planned, starting with this dispatch:

Panther for Delegate
Tyrant
Zealot
Delegate

Have you ever thought your life lacked oppression?

Have you ever considered that this region might just be a bit too free?

Did you ever desire Cake?

Vote PANTHER for Delegate.

The Authority is Capricious
The Zealotry is Omnipresent
The Cake is Free

"A touch of madness is just what this region needs."
~ Peter O'Toole

Read dispatch

...but with everything going on, my heart just isn't in it. Doesn't feel like the time for being frivolous about authority and oppression when there's desert camo humvees parked a couple blocks away and dudes with machine guns patrolling Broad Street.

There's a sad desperation permeating my city at the moment, and it has driven folks from peaceful protest and into the welcoming arms of avaricious looting and a general lust for destruction. The poorest neighborhoods in the city are eating themselves alive, and it's really awful to watch. Entrenched poverty is a terrible thing, and when combined with years of systemic oppression, well, periodic explosions of frustration, such as this, often results.

I feel a great sadness at the moment. And exhaustion, from days on end of constant worry and a morbid desire to follow every single new movement and development.

All of this is to say, I would still like to serve as delegate of this region, but I don't think I can be very fun at the moment, so I apologize if the campaign turns out boring. Hopefully the malaise doesn't endure.

Rivierenland wrote:Johanneslanden Isn't it time to change the region flag to something more pride?

I could see if I can whip up something "prideful" that would be suitable for the region and the occasion. Would probably be a nice distraction to work on something like that.

For the interested, here is Philadelphia's own version of the pride flag:

I haven't been following the events of Chicago. I used to live there, and feel a strong affinity for the city. What's the sense in the air? And is the rioting contained to the South Side, or is it elsewhere, too?

Panther wrote:~snip~

Your campaign's already more interesting than mine was. So don't worry about that <3
A pride version of the regional flag would be lovely, but only if you want to

Johanneslanden wrote:

I think a vote may be in order; three options for a new pride flag as well as the option for no pride flag.
