Major Stratus Deal

Following the recent incident in which an aircraft was forced to land due to a rudder failure, plans to replace much of Trectomer's airliner fleet have been pushed to the forefront. Earlier today it was announced that Trectomer will be replacing its stock of P51s with new Stratus P-810 Pelicans and P-500s. Stratus was chosen as it focuses on larger passenger counts and longer ranges than other companies.

Cambrian Added to Curriculum

Last week it was announced that Cambrian will be added as an optional language for schools in Trectomer, in order to prepare Trectomerians to work in unison with other nations. According to Head of Education, Zhidao Daolo " We live in a rapidly changing world, with much more international cooperation, communication and involvement abroad. This is why it is important for people to learn foreign languages. Cambrian was the obvious choice as it is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world."

Eco Talks With Vekkla

Shizi Dailing flew to Vekkla last week in order to hold talks with Orgo Leemm about topics such as climate change, carbon capture and carbon emissions reduction. The main focus point however, was about methods of installing Hydrogen car infrastructure in both nations. Hydrogen cars have been a hot topic in Trectomer recently, after multiple Albanese companies have started building factories in Trectomer for producing them. The talks are part of a larger scale push towards making Trectomer more environmentally friendly.

Our Kingdom Shall Not Be Tarnished

Amidst rising unfounded criticism against Taehung and its culture, many people have taken to sharing their opinions. As for the Nighthawks’ controversial statements, many Taehunians have taken offense to such an insult to their culture. People on social media have told the Nighthawks to first “talk about the Albanese Militarized Police with defunct Military grade drones.” People have also thanked the Albanese left for “defending the National and Cultural Honor of Taehung” as “fellow brothers and sisters.”

As for the criticism by the Albanese Government, Taehung’s Government has yet to respond, as relations remain still fragile.

As for Hunton, Taehung’s Government has stated that the statement is “a grave insult to the People and Nation of Taehung.”

Death of an Archon

The Taehunian Government has sent their condolences to Mydia in regards to the death of Architzi. At the Taehunian Embassy in Mydia during the Daily Flag Raising Ceremony, the Mydian Flag was flown next to the Taehunian flag, Military service members carrying the Blue and Gold of Mydia, their footsteps echoing powerfully throughout the Embassy Grounds. The two flags were tossed into the air powerfully in sync with each other, the Soldiers leaving their hand in the air for a second before saluting the National Treasures of Mydia and Taehung, the Mydian National Anthem playing before the Taehunian National Anthem as the banners climbed to the sky.

Taehung Remembers

Flags throughout Taehung were lowered to half-mast today as Taehung remembers the Gyesong Massacre, committed by Cambria in 1874. The massacre happened during the attempted Cambrian Expedition to then-Isolationist Taehung, which had failed. The massacre resulted in the deaths of more than 5,000 Taehunians, where Cambrian Soldiers brutally tortured and murdered civilians. In schools, the massacre is taught about to remember the victims of the terrible massacre on Taehunian Soil, and to remember the Freedom Fighters who fought the Cambrian Soldiers to the bitter end.

Taehunians have continuously directed their anger towards Albany for their refusal to apologize to Taehung for this massacre, and today is no different. A moment of silence was held in Parliament at 7:26 PM, the approximate time Cambrian Troops entered Gyesong.

In a ceremony in Incheon, Troops carried the Taehunian Flag and the Taeguk Flag that flew in Gyesong to be raised into the sky, the powerful flag toss echoing throughout Taehung.

Seol Sun-Hee gave a speech, discussing the terrible massacre, as well as requesting once again that Albany apologize for Cambria’s actions, as Albany is Cambria’s successor state, and Cambria never gave an apology to Taehung before its collapse.

Gyesong Anniversary
The Union of Albany faced with requests by the Taehunian people and sovereign to apologize for the Gyesong Massacre that occurred in 1874 during the time of the Cambrian Empire has once again refused to do so. Foreign Minister Julia Atwell stated during a press conference that it was still the position of the Union that an apology for the actions and disgraceful deeds of the Cambrian Empire would not come from the Union’s own. Instead the Foreign Minister highlighted that the Union today had long denounced the Cambrian Empire, its actions and had maintained a policy of refusing to apologize for the Old Empire’s atrocities as the apology would potentially be an admittance of guilt which could not legally be applied to the modern Union. Instead the Foreign Minister also noted that no member of House Lennox remained in the Union today and that only they could legally offer an apology as descendants of those that would have been instrumental in ordering such an act as well as those responsible for the lack of an apology.

The Union Ambassador to the Taehunian Kingdom was recalled to be replaced by Grant Welles who will take up his position upon confirmation by the Taehunian Foreign Minister. The outgoing Ambassador has noted their resignation to take up a post as a professor of international relations at Elizabeth Imperial College in New Gate, instead of the rumors that they were not getting on well with Prime Minister Prescott.

Aerodyne Investigation
In a virtually unheard of move, raids were carried out across the Aero Corporate District along the coast of Hudson. Aerodyne headquarters in New Haven, New Gate and Aerodyne’s corporate city of Aera saw nearly two thousand police deployed as data was collected from the company, their sites and their employees about the spate of recent malfunctions of the P-100 and P-110 series drones in use by nearly six dozen municipal police forces including New Haven, Galavant, Bhaldraithe and Lancelia. The Ministry of Justice announced an all encompassing investigation into the handling of the malfunctions, whether there was a need for a recall and how much the engineering division knew about any existing issues with the design. Stock prices in Aerodyne fluctuated through the day after opening nearly 30% down. CEO Alistaire Dyne signaled that the company would cooperate fully with the investigation.

Aerodyne Recall and Apology
Alistair Dyne, 64 year old CEO of Aerodyne Corporation has issued a formal apology to all those affected by malfunctions of the P-100 and P-110 series drones in use across the world. Dyne also stated that the company was beginning a mandatory recall effort covering nearly 16,000 drones for servicing to fix an engineering flaw. This comes as the company is under investigation by the Justice Ministry at the direction of Prime Minister Prescott. She noted that Aerodyne was a major corporate power in Albany and while the government appreciated the partnership, the failings of the company costing lives needlessly was worth getting to the bottom of.

Already some have called for criminal investigations into the top ranks of Aerodyne and the Dyne Family for what knowledge they would have had about the flaw. Media speculation has been rampant as to whether or not Alistaire Dyne would resign to make way for a younger generation of Dynes to help rehabilitate the company.

Seizing on their competitors' PR nightmare, Stratus Industries alongside Artilihawk announced the newest generation of security drones titled the SA-100 series. Fully capable of all tasks given to them in security work, the SA drones are meant to accompany police personnel as well as helping in hazardous situations by remote operation and limited autonomy. The latter feature is considered the first in the industry within the main market.

Gyesong Massacre Act
Days after the 203rd anniversary of the Gyesong Massacre, the Union Parliament passed the Gyesong Massacre Act that formally recognized the event as a genocide as well as noting 18 other incidents during the Cambrian Empire as genocide events and pledged rememberances would be commemorated on March 2 in years going forward. What the Act however did not do was claim in any way that Albany was responsible indirectly or otherwise for the genocides. It also did not provide or establish mechanisms for compensation to descendants.

The Union Parliament in its floor debate on the Act noted that Cambria no longer existed and it was not on the shoulders of the Union to make amends for acts of an evil empire that Albany happened to succeed. Prime Minister Prescott who helped shepherd the bill through the lower house alongside opposition leader Alexander Poe, hailed the Act as a solid declaration that the Union was an aware nation that was willing to criticize abhorrent events in history. The Act passed with just 17 MPs and 6 Lords against.

Reactions

Upon the passing of the Gyesong Massacre Act in Albany, reactions across Taehung have been mostly positive. Many have been thankful that Albany is recognizing the action as a genocide and that remembrances would be happening in Albany in the future for the horrific actions Cambria has committed to Taehung and other countries across Vesta.

As for the Ambassador situation, the Taehunian MOFA has confirmed the Ambassador change, and has allowed Mr. Welles to take up his position as Albanese Ambassador to Taehung.

Remembrance ceremonies are still ongoing, especially in Gyesong, where people float lanterns to honor the victims of the massacre. An artillery salute on the Sacred River was performed by the Empress’ Own Artillery Regiment in honor of those who fought the Cambrian attackers. The Taehunian Flag flew aside the Taeguk Flag as Troops and Civilians alike saluted. Many were seen crying for their fallen brothers and sisters who had died centuries ago.

PolitiNow Poll
Martha Prescott, Incumbent Prime Minister of the Union of Albany is currently sitting at a nearly 52% chance to remain Prime Minister after the election of the 14th of March. Next up is the Opposition’s leader, Alexander Poe at nearly 46% chance to become Prime Minister and move into Uppington Avenue. National polling in the Union is usually considered accurate and these polls suggest a close race. The next parliament is unlikely to be able to tackle large agenda items of either party as neither is expected to get a sweep. Prime Minister Prescott has been holding rallies throughout the Union and predominantly near New Haven and Galavant which are seen as traditional Democratic strongholds, her efforts to put the Metropoli into play is considered a long shot move politically but could award surprise victories come election night. Democratic and Opposition Leader Alexander Poe has been staging counter rallies in the Metropoli and some rallies in Saxonia and Hudson in efforts to bolster the base turnout for his party.

The various minor parties are spread throughout the Union and nearly a fifth of all seats in the parliament are expected to be held by these minor parties. Yuppies as they are called generally form alliances with the larger Conservative and Democratic parties to serve in pseudo-coalitions to achieve larger or outright majorities. While their influence is generally minimal, the yuppies are expected to post large gains in this election and for the first time since the 2040s, neither the Democratic or Conservative parties are expected to win outright majorities.

Aerodyne Disaster
Following the public apology by Alistair Dyne, CEO of Aerodyne Corporation there had been an absolute nightmare selloff of the company’s stock and within twenty four hours of the apology, Alistair Dyne had been removed from the company his own family had a controlling stake in. His daughter Margaret Dyne has been named CEO and his son Rupert Dyne has been named Chairman of the Board. The move further entrenched the family’s influence and control over the corporation at a time when steady leadership and rapid PR triage was necessary.

Horizon Noir to be Broken Up
After weeks of negotiations, the government has announced their plan to break up the Akarusian branch of the Albany-based Horizon Noir corporation. The plan would see its Akarusian branch separated from its parent corporation, and split into three regional entities. These new companies would be democratized, reverting to being a worker-owned collective.

Negotiations within the Akarusian government were stalled due to the Union Democratique's reluctance to support the break-up plan. A preliminary proposal with the Akarusian government brought an end to the chemical workers' strike, however dissatisfaction at the continued lack of an official agreement led to union leaders threatening a resumption of the strikes. Some leaders were accusing the UD of purposefully stalling negotiations. This political pressure led to a split in the vote among the UD, providing the government with a majority backing for the agreement.

The announcement lead to celebrations from labour activists across the country.

Opposition leaders have expressed their concern about reactions from Albany over the agreement.

Death of a Loving Mother

Tragedy has struck in Taehung. Prime Minister Kim Hyo Soo’s mother, Ri Sol-Jong, has passed away at the age of 92. Ri was a loving mother and a former service member of the Royal Marines under Emperor Park Hyung Jang. By personal order of the Empress, a state of national morning has been instated, and national and state flags are being lowered to half-mast.

Kim Hyo Soo personally helped carry her mother’s flag-draped coffin, visibly crying. Marines guided the way, carrying the National Colors and the Royal Marine Banner. The Commander of her Platoon, the 51st Mechanized, carried a photograph of Ri in her dress uniform. Surviving members of Ri’s Platoon were present at the funeral, as well as other service members from the Royal Marine Corps. The Royal Marine Band played Taps, the Royal Marine Hymn, Arirang, and the National Anthem before the casket was lowered into the ground. Attendees, including the Empress, bowed their heads as a sign of respect. The Marine Honor Guard fired a 21-gun salute for the fallen Captain as she was buried.

Ri was notably very patriotic and a proud Taehunian, a powerful Captain who helped foil several terrorist operations as her time in the Marines, and will be dearly missed.

  • House sworn in with first Social majority since 2071
The House of Councillors met this morning to swear in its members, who were elected or re-elected earlier this year. The session was presided by Maria Lorenzo, the longest continuously serving councillor in the chamber, who chaired the committee that was charged with swearing in all members. While the ceremony itself was no different from others held in the past, this particular occasion marked the first time that the Socials are projected to form a majority coalition since 2071, when they lost 37 seats and overall control of the House to the Nationals.

Silvio Aggio, Leader of the Social Party, addressed the House after all members had been sworn in. In his address, Aggio vowed to prioritise several initiatives at the top of the Social manifesto intended to facilitate access to education and healthcare across state lines, but also dedicated a significant amount of time to recognise the various national identities that comprise Sartoria, stating that under a Social government there will be no tolerance for what he called "sabotage of the sovereign will of our constituent nations" in a clear reference to the recent Soltane Bribery Scandal.

Aggio also confirmed that, while efforts will be made to promote a more liberal and institutionalist approach to international affairs, making use of the World Society to solve controversies, there will be an "effort of the highest order to strengthen the Valentian Alliance" and ensure that it continues to play a "fundamental role in world affairs", remarking that the world needs the Valentian Alliance to resist what he called "illiberal and militaristic" forces abroad. This was held by analysts to be an unusually hawkish stance for a Social politician, who tend to lean toward more liberal approaches, but this was seen as being consistent with recent efforts by Socials to appeal to undecided voters who might have voted National were it not for recent scandals.

  • Bonaventura has final question time and bids farewell to the House
First Minister Marco Bonaventura participated today in what is expected to be the final question time of his premiership, shortly after members were sworn in. A staple of parliamentary politics, question time is held the morning of every Monday and is an chance for councillors from all parties to ask questions to the First Minister. While the First Minister is often not the leader of the majority coalition, but a trusted member from it, they frequently answer several questions from the Leader of the Opposition, who is the leader of the larger opposition party.

In today's session, Bonaventura thanked the House for its trust in him over the past six years and remarked that it had been a privilege not only to serve as their colleague, but also to work on behalf of the entire country during most of the decade. Social Leader Silvio Aggio was gracious towards the First Minister, stating that even when they had disagreed on policy, Bonaventura had been willing to answer questions and meet with party leaders from across the political spectrum to find common ground when needed, something for which the First Minister was sometimes criticised within the National Heritage Party.

Bonaventura, who remains as First Minister in a caretaker capacity until the House elects a successor, has stated that his efforts moving forward will be directed at seeing that whoever succeeds him "finds in this office an engaged and trusted partner" as they work together to ensure a smooth transition.

  • Elisa Martinelli tapped by Socials to be First Minister
The Social Parliamentary Party is expected to hold an internal vote this afternoon to name councillor Elisa Martinelli as its nominee for First Minister, ratifying a decision made last month after consultations with party leaders and backbenchers alike. While there will be a number of councillors who will submit contending names for consideration, Martinelli already has a significant lead in endorsements and, with the support of party leadership, is widely expected to win the nomination.

Elisa Martinelli is a native of South Laminia currently serving her third term as councillor, noted for being a prominent member of the party's moderate wing who gets along with councillors left of her as well councillors from parties opposite. Martinelli attracted media attention last term for her work in brokering a deal between Socials and Nationals that resulted in the passage of the International Space Cooperation Expansion Law. Social Leader Silvio Aggio has stated that, while an official vote is yet to happen, he has no doubt that Richetti would be an effective head of government, both due to her bona fides as a Social politician and her ability to work within the parliamentary party and across the aisle.

  • Soltane Greens sworn in following repudiation of traditional parties
Four members of the Green Movement were sworn in today as councillors to represent Soltane, a historic first that constitutes clear evidence of the repudiation of traditional parties that shocked political analysts on election night.

In the aftermath of the Soltane Bribery Scandal, where officials from the People's Party and the National Party bribed state legislators in an effort to defeat an amendment to the state constitution to change the state name, a significant number of voters abandoned the traditional parties and instead cast protest votes for the Green Movement or spoiled their ballots. While the scandal was primarily focused on the two parties mentioned above, discontent apparently also affected the nationalist Five Suns Party (PQP).

Polls indicate that, while voters did not blame PQP for the scandal, they did feel a general discontent for the intrusion of federal parties into state politics and a failure to deliver on the promise of the state name change. The Green Movement seemed to have capitalised on this discontent by presenting itself as a mature option that looked beyond the traditional divisions of unionists and nationalists and instead wanted to fight for the interests of all residents, bringing attention to the effects of climate change and looking to represent all their constituents fairly. This discourse proved effective, and the Greens gained 4 out of 12 seats, a dramatic increase from its results in the 2074 election.

Green Leader Luciano Bove said that he was please to stand beside the four councillors who were sworn in today, remarking that "the Green Movement has always sought to look beyond traditional partisan politics and focus on the key challenges of our time, and Soltane knows better than any state how important it is to tackle the climate change crisis".

Happy Birthday Yoo Chen-Keol

Today is the Birthday of Yoo Chen-Keol, the first Emperor of the Kingdom of Taehung. At the age of 32, he was crowned Emperor after the Taehunian Grand Revolution many centuries ago. Under his reign, he built up Taehung and laid the groundwork for what the country is today and what it shall forever stand for. His family chain is so long, Seol Sun-Hee is even related to him.

To commemorate the Great Emepror’s birthday, ceremonies across the countries are held. In Incheon, a flag raising ceremony is scheduled to raise the National Colors and the first Taehunian Flag to fly in Incheon.

In Boseong, a Parade is held, where people dress as warriors from that era. It is a national holiday, and all non-essential businesses are closed because of this. In Island Cities, such as Gyesong and Innae, other cultural festivals are held, as people offer prayers to the Emperor at different religious temples across the country.

Back in Incheon, the ceremony is about to begin. Battalions of Soldiers attend, standing at attention with their weapons. A Unit wearing historical military attire carried the actual battle flag of Emperor Yoo. Standing next to the Unit was the 76th Royal Honor Guard, who held Seol Sun-Hee’s Battle Flag, both banners waving in the breeze.

Then the flag raising ceremony began. General Pak Jong-Hye ordered the troops to salute the two Taehunian Banners as troops slowly marched towards the Flagpoles, preparing to raise the banners, their footsteps beating so loudly, you could hear it from a mile away. As the instruments got louder, the Soldiers attached the banners to their respective flagpoles, then powerfully tossed them into the air.

The first song to play was “The Great Taehunian Way.” (https://youtu.be/OARTR8joSac) This song is very special, as it was written when the final battle of the Taehunian Grand Revolution commenced.

As the first song finished, the National Anthem then played as the two banners now flew in the sky, side by side, new and old. The Red, Blue, White, and Yellow of the First Taehunian Flag accompanying the modern flag of Taehung.

Following the Aerodyne incident, Taehung has temporarily instated a temporary ban on the operation of all Aerodyne products in the Kingdom of Taehung until the technological faults have been confirmed to be fixed.

UXO Cleanup In Huangye

Another Unexploded Ordnance cleanup operation was held in Huangye in the past few weeks, much to the delight of residents.

UXO has been a major issue in Trectomer ever since the Great War. The problem has been especially bad in Huangye, which was the center of the fighting during the conflict and was further worsened after the Tongku War. This operation focused on the outskirts of Huangye, in land that is soon to be developed into a residential area, thus it was inportant that the operation was carried out to the best of Trectomer's ability.

Even so, UXO remains an issue and will most probably remain one for quite some time.

Museum Ship Catches Alight

A museum ship in Gonias caught on fire earlier today, destroying it, as well as alslmost spreading it to the surrounding area.

The ship was laid down in 1710, as part of The Kingdom of Alaya's plan to rebuild its military. It saw no combat during it's service and stood as a monument to Trectomerian history.

The lower decks of the ship caught on fire first, spreading throughout the ship until fire services could stop it from spreading to other docked vessels. The cause of the fire was unknown and there have been no deaths or injuries from ilthe incident.

24 Hours of Saina End, Hydrogen Remains Triumphant

Last week the 24 Hours of Saina were held at the Bei Huan circuit, just outside of Shamo. The race is known for its hot temperatures, which test both the drivers and cars, as well as its high altitudes, which reduce downforce and engine power in combustion engines.

This year, Huanzi Racing won, with only 10 seconds between first and second. Huanzi are known for their highly efficient hydrogen engines, which alllowed them to run lighter cars, gaining an advantage. The race had an attendance of over 200,000 fans coming from all across Trectomer.

Corporate States Chaffe
Government raids at corporate offices across all 14 Corporate States were hailed as “unprecedented” by Prime Minister Prescott who announced the raids from the Oval Office in New Gate. The Prime Minister announced extraordinary measures being enacted by Parliament to reign in the semi-autonomy that had been afforded to the Corporate States citing Aerodyne as the latest in a string of major blunders needing solutions.

Already the 15 largest corporations in Albany have filed a joint lawsuit to stop the government’s efforts citing the 2046 Corporate Responsibility Act which endowed certain types of corporate entities far ranging autonomy over tracts of land upon which major cities were built. Government lawyers from the Ministry of Justice have attempted to dismiss the lawsuit citing that the 2046 CRA was signed by a weakened Union government that was bankrupt and near collapse following the disaster of the Egian War which had ended just two years prior.

Prime Minister Martha Prescott is staking her political future, that of her party and that of the current system on the general belief that the public will back the government over the massive corporations that have come to nearly define the Union in the current era. The Prime Minister had been considered a general ally to business during her first term but in 2073, after winning the midterms in a landslide, Prescott embarked on efforts to begin to gradually reduce the power and influence companies had on the government and public policy. The 2074 Corporate Understanding Resolution that passed Parliament with bipartisan support, was meant to reign in the rampant excesses by the corporate executives by making their salaries and compensation public.

PolitiNow Poll
Prime Minister Prescott has edged slightly ahead in the polls rising from 52% to 55% while Opposition Leader Alexander Poe has fallen to 41%. Underperforming Democratic candidates in the Corporate States, Metropoli and Western Coast have seen the party struggle to make the case that the Conservative Party is not fit to govern. PM Prescott has held massive rallies throughout the noted areas as well as through the strongholds of the Conservative Party in the north, central and south-central coasts as well as through the interior to the Heartlands. The strong showing comes as the media have speculated that Prescott is benefitting from being a known figure nationally and having strong security credentials at a time when most in the Union favor security and strength over foreign engagement.

The last debate between the leading party candidates is tonight at 9pm CST in New Haven on the steps of the Mayor’s Mansion. Prescott is anticipated to make a strong showing and is likely to try to defend her raids on the Corporate States during an election. Opposition Leader Poe has called for reigning in the elitist corporations as well as conducting raids in the past but has been relatively silent on the matter as of late.

Horizon Noir Buyout Bid
In light of the recent attempts to break up the Akarusian branch of HN, the Union government has approved an effort by United Energy to purchase the Union portion of the company. UE has a strong record in the Union as being one of the most advanced energy companies technologically as well as having the best customer reputation among the general public for customer interaction and reliability. Workers are unionized and protected more heavily than at most leading competitors in the Union and the bid passed the Regulation Board without issue. The exact buyout figure has not been released but the offer in the bid is said to be around £180 billion.

Foreign Visits on Offer
Archon Margot Xedes, alongside Social Democratic Leader Georgios Mastanakis, extended an invitation to whoever emerges as the Sartorian leader following the recent elections. Archon Xedes and SD Leader Mastanakis were both jubilant at the recent shift away from the Nationals who had led Sartoria for the last two terms. The Mydic Empire had made a similar shift two years prior when Conservative Archon Lydia Galanis was forced to resign and snap elections yielded the first left wing government in the Empire in nearly 20 years. Education, the environment, sustained cooperation on projects and engagement in new areas were said to be items at the top of the Mydian wishlist for such a meeting.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed that the Ambassador in Messelia had been made aware and that the Foreign Minister had passed the offer along to the relevant personnel at the Sartorian Foreign Ministry. Separately the Foreign Minister also confirmed that the government at the direction of Basileus Leto IV had extended an invitation to the government of Hunton for a state visit by their reigning sovereign. The bid is seen as an attempt to further bilateral relations, understanding and cultural heritage as the trip would travel to some of the most important cultural sites in the Empire.

Confusion and Concern
The Trade Ministry issued a comment of concern to the WTO about the ongoing situation in Albany and sought clarification on how wide ranging the raids in the Corporate States had been and whether or not any international corporations had been caught up in the matter. There was specific concern noted for six Mydic corporations that operated out of Aera, the Aerodyne Corporate District. The six corporations in question are Helicon Atomic Energy, Elysian Pharmaceuticals, Cleian Automotive, Atlanta Industries and Galanis Corp. Additional concern was passed by the Ambassador of the Empire to the Union for what the Foreign Ministry characterized as unlawful detainment of a diplomatic person at the site of one of the companies.

Economic Brace
Facing the potential blowback economically, Vesta’s third largest economy took measures today to head off ripples from the Albanese raids on the Corporate States. The central bank was ordered to identify the most at risk companies and to relay the information to relevant imperial ministries to begin triage. The Empire had extensive government stakes in most major companies in Mydia. This left the Mydic Empire particularly vulnerable to economic upsets in markets where it had extensive interests such as the Valentian Alliance’s common market or in the Union which was the second largest economic partner for the Empire. Recessions in Albany and before that Cambria were nearly perfectly mirrored in Mydia within one year each of the twelve times that they had occurred since 2010. The economic domino could not be afforded by the Empire as the government had committed to heavy environmental, education and military overhauls over the last four years and would face tough austerity should the economy suffer long term.

Economic Minister Elaine Barzan in a press conference called the measures by the government and the central bank to be in line with current policy and nothing the general public should be concerned with at this time. Minister Barzan made clear that the current health and projected economic outlook of the Empire’s economy was good and the government still believed that it could maintain its goal to hit 2.4% annualized gdp growth for the year.

Midterms

It is officially the middle of Prime Minister Fjölden's term as Prime Minister, which means it is Midterms season! Former Prime Minister Xemptoworth is set to win the seat as MP in her home state of The New East. Her competitor is in a lot of hot water right now, but that is for a different story later on. Trust me. It's a lot. As the Commoners Party is still dominating parliament, it may look as though a resurgence of the LFP as a secondary party is possible. A lot of that has to deal with how progressive their candidates have been lately and their support for expanding the green energy market from the main island to the Protector Isles.

(Xemptoworth): "It is clear that we need more green energy. The Protector Isles States are the most polluted in the FE and that is mainly a big concern for the species native to the Isles. It is saddening to see forest destruction to build new homes in the ever rapidly expanding population of Sunlight and Ft. Hazel. I'm against height restrictions on buildings, and so is most of the LFP. Maybe it's time to protect the trees and start making buildings taller so we can gain more space for solar farms and wind farms."

It is likely that the Commoners Party will continue their reign for midterms, but the LFP has a little bit more "oomph" this year. More on this later.

Taehunian Emperor Celebrates Birthday

The Emperor of Taehung, Yoo Chen-Keol, is celebrating his 31st birthday! Emperor Heiden wished him a happy birthday via social media saying "We may differ from one another, but it doesn't mean that we cannot still have a joyful time. Happiest of birthdays from one Emperor to another. Be wise."

For international viewers, the salutations "be wise" here in Franconia is not a threat and is said with positivity. It means "Continue your journey" or "We depart with peace".

Communications Satellite Launch Will Help Franconia Reach New Speeds

FESA had a little help from Mydia to build a communications satellite to help launch the next generation of public access internet. Franconia On Line (FOL), the Empire's solution to provide internet completely free to those who do not have it and cannot afford it (one of the many successes in the Xemptoworth administration). The satellite launched yesterday at 4pm Franconian Eastern Time. Many Franconian officials attended: including Former Prime Minister Xemptoworth, Current Prime Minister Fjölden, Franconian Space Minister Yusef Ibrakiv, and Emperor Heiden and Empress Consort Yülisa Heiden. Amongst the Franconian officials were also Mydic officials. This includes Mydic Space Minister Jains Jessero and Mydic Minister of Technology Hypatia Attalid. About 300 were in attendance for the launch on the warm, clear day. The launch went successfully and low income Franconians are gearing up to get the fastest internet speeds ever to exist to date. Franconian Minister of Technology says the new 8G modems should be released in the coming week and to check your emails for updates from FOL headquarters.

Dithering Opposition
Following an absolute blowout performance by Martha Prescott against Alexander Poe many say that if the Dems fail to secure a majority in parliament post election then the Opposition leader should resign, a notion so far echoed by some of the rank and file of the Democratic Party. Prescott performed well over expectations for the final debate of this snap election, capping what many have said has been a whirlwind comeback for the Union’s “Iron Lady.” Polling shows that as Opposition Leader Poe was unable to outright denounce the corporate state model, Prescott seized on the momentum and was able to solidify her pulling of the Conservatives toward responsible oversight and that the Democrats appeared weak. Prescott also heralded that the Justice Ministry was carrying out still more raids into several Corporate States in an effort to seize records from corporations that had failed to comply with oversight requests by the government.

Some among the Democratic Party had even taken to saying that the Prime Minister was pursuing an anti-corporate attitude to win votes and was not genuine about efforts to alter the status quo. Democratic MP Marjorie White went so far as to say that if Martha Prescott was reelected then the Union could face an exodus of corporations. A notion that was resoundingly mocked across the news media and even by the Prime Minister’s spokesman during the daily press briefing. As the election is just a few days away the Opposition appears poised to face a potential collapse in public support if new polls are to be believed. PolitiNow polls are showing Prescott netting nearly 64% of the vote following last night’s debate, while Alexander Poe is polling sub 35% with notable third party candidates seemingly eating up much of his small party cushion.

Justice Ministry Blacklists Aerodyne
Justice Minister Justine Maxwell declared from the steps of the Justice Ministry at a press conference that the Aera Corporate State would be dismantled following the government’s ongoing dispute with the company Aerodyne. The Justice Minister stated that the government had placed Aerodyne on a blacklist freezing the company’s assets within the Union’s financial system and that the Union had passed along requests to do so to the rest of the Commonwealth as well as Sartoria and Mydia. Minister Maxwell laid out an elaborate case of malfeasance, corruption, embezzlement and criminal neglect that had become rampant within Aerodyne. The Minister also noted that the government was beginning the legal proceedings to seize Aerodyne and nationalize the company for what Minister Maxwell called “corporate rehabilitation.” The Minister declined to take questions and the Justice Ministry’s spokesman stated that all pertinent information would be made public in the coming weeks as the cases to take over Aerodyne and to abolish the Corporate State of Aera went before the courts.

Anti-Piracy Operations
Admiral Beckett aboard flagship Philipa I of the 4th Fleet was wounded when a missile hit a helicopter on the deck of the supercarrier. The old great war era missile was fired by pirates from one of the dozen or so former Cambrian warforts that stand in the Eastern Strait. Periodic anti-piracy raids clear out the menace but the historical significance of the structures has rendered demolishing them a non-starter. The wounding of Admiral Beckett however has changed the dynamic and the Union’s Admiralty signaled that the Union would be carrying out the demolishing of all known Cambrian warforts to prevent dangerous elements from hindering international trade and the safe navigation of international waters by merchant vessels.

Assets Frozen

With the dismantling of the Corporate State of Aera in Albany, as well as Albany’s requests to Commonwealth countries, as well as Sartoria to freeze Aerodyne’s assets, Taehung has decided that in a move to further decrease tensions with Albany, Aerodyne’s assets in Taehung have been officially frozen until further notice. This is not only a political move, as many Taehunian Government Officials have been suspicious of Aerodyne’s practices ever since the incident that killed protestors earlier this year, and the squabble between the Albanese Government and Aerodyne did not help Aerodyne’s case, and some politicians believed Aerodyne was a “concern to the integrity of not only Albany’s Government, but to all nations.” The ban on Aerodyne products is also still in effect, and will remain in effect until further notice as well.

Task Failed Successfully

Franconia has recently wished former-Emperor Yoo Chen-Keol a Happy Birthday. This has been met initial gratefulness and thanks, then with confusion. And why is that? Franconia has wished Emperor Yoo a Happy 31st Birthday and asked him to stay wise. Only problem is, Emperor Yoo has been dead for centuries. For many Taehunians they just found this mistake by Franconia either confusing or funny.

There was some concern, however, about the Franconian Government, as it should have been widely known knowledge to all nations that Seol Sun-Hee is the Empress, and if Emperor Yoo was alive, he would’ve been leading, and some are concerned that the Franconian Government may be disorganized or be outdated in terms of International News.

Trectomer Times

Kuon Synthetics Stays In Albany

Kuon Synthetics has issued a statement, saying that they will be monitoring the situation in Albany before considering a move back to Trectomer.

The Company has had quite a few controversies in the past, the most recent being the moving if its headquarters to the Nyte Corporate State in the Northwest of Albany, which is run by United Energy. The move was assumed to have been made in order to avoid scrutiny from the Trectomerian government while keeping their manufacturing in Trectomer in order to avoid environmental laws.

Aerodyne Assets Frozen

Following a request from its close ally Albany, the Trectomerian government has frozen all Aerodyne assets within the country. This move has been met with some resistance from Zhulo residents, as an Aerodyne factory was set to be built there and will be delayed by the move.

Cambrian Warforts Cause Issues

Following the wounding of the Albanese Admiral Beckett after a missile was fired from a Cambrian warfort in the Eastern Sea, the danger these platforms present have become clear to see and in response, the Trectomerian government will be demolishing 5 of the 7 near or in Trectomerian waters. The remaining two will be made safe and turned into tourist sites, showcasing great war era technology and military equipment.

Vekkla News Now Breaking Alert

Aerodyne Assets Frozen

Following the urge to freeze all assets from Aerodyne, stationed in Albany, President Leemm has ordered all Aerodyne assets to be frozen in Vekkla. This goes as the Albanese government was investigating faulty drones. The investigation stonewalled, but evidence of unchecked capitalism and systemic corruption was revealed. Albany is now aiming to nationalize the company so Aerodyne doesn't commit these horrendous acts again.

(Leemm): "...We are not taking Aerodyne's products off of our shelves because we want to. We have to. These guys misused the system of their Homeland and are now upset that they are losing billions of Union Pounds every day because of a [Vekkeli curse word] they did. Let me be clear. Vekkla has plenty of great companies to shop from. As far as we all know, they are here for the Vekkeli people. Aerodyne doesn't share our values anymore and only cares about big corporate profit... All Aerodyne products will be off the shelves by next week and will remain until further notice."

President Leemm is clearly upset at this, but it is a little ironic that he is upset about how corrupt the business was being when Vekkla clearly has big corruption issues of its own.

Vekkeli Planes See Pop of Color

Central Vekkla is home to many bright flowers and they are in full bloom as spring is quickly approaching. Weather is making excellent conditions for gardenias and petunias to grow. Of course this means that the Vekkeli government will be issuing statements about these flowers soon. Nobody knows what the speech will be about, but some are speculating that Leemm will make a law about protecting these flowers native to Vekkla. Already, safety barriers have been put up to protect the miles of fields so people can look at them from a safe distance. Some are also speculating a new national park dedicated to the petunias and other flora that are native in the central part of the nation. Only time will tell if these flowers will be protected or not, but all we can do is stop and smell the flowers.

Bellucci elected First Minister; invited to merenda with President Pellegrini
Giuliana Bellucci was elected this morning by the House of Councillors as their designate for First Minister, prevailing in a 273-264 vote over National nominee Claudio Falcone. Bellucci was widely expected to be elected given the Social majority in the House, though there was a small degree of uncertainty given how slim that majority is. In the end the Socials were joined by the Solidars and the Greens in voting to elect Bellucci, while the Nationals were joined by the Sustainables in voting for Falcone.

Bellucci addressed the House immediately after her election to thank councillors for their confidence, saying that she would work to implement in good faith the Social platform while ensuring that government continued to operate based on compromise and the spirit of cooperation between both sides of the aisle. Bellucci gave a nod to the various peoples of Sartoria, saying that national identities should be recognised and celebrated without that having to constitute a threat to national unity. Bellucci closed by promising to continue strengthening the leading role of Sartoria and the Valentian Alliance on the world stage, prompting applause from both Socials and Nationals.

President Fabrizio Pellegrini swiftly extended an invitation to Ms Bellucci to meet at House Baglio, his official residence and workplace, to have a private merenda and discuss matters of national interest. While the meeting as primarily a ceremonial act, meant to show that the President complies with the mandate from the House, it does serve the purpose of allowing both leaders to have a first meeting and discuss their mutual interests and priorities in a private setting. Following the merenda, President Pellegrini is expected to hold a small ceremony where he will sign the decree to formally appoint Bellucci as First Minister of Sartoria.
