Parthenopias

Thalass News Now:

Following an extensive debate in the Chambers of the Serene Council, the Thalassocracy is set to ratify a new constitution which will abolish the position of President and reorder the national government to be more parliamentary based. Retaining their veto power, the Serene Council will be elected to 10 year terms and in that time each of the 5 members will serve a single two year term as Archon. The first Archon will be the incumbent President of the Council Alyssandra de Carro. The general public has met this outcome with some optimism though the markets and the private sector have yet to settle the volatility the debate brought about.

Thalass News Now

At 10:13 this morning, the National Emergency Network (NEN) was triggered following an 8.1 earthquake off the southern coast of Parthenopias. No initial reports of casualties were reported and damage to buildings was considered minor. An initial tsunami warning was issued but was later cancelled when no wave arrived. At this time the government of Archon de Caro expressed great relief at the state of the nation following what could have been a terrible catastrophe.

Thalass News Now

To mark the 20th Anniversary of the Palantina Bombings, Archon de Caro laid a white wreath draped in black ribbons at the memorial site in the coastal city of Tolosa. In 2001 a group of extremists from the Amphi Highlands carried out a series of bombings across the city of Palantina in an effort to cause mass hysteria. The resulting public outcry was met with a military deployment and brief conflict in the Highlands between the National Military of Parthenopias and the Extremists. By 2006 the conflict was declared over though some simmering violence would linger until 2008.

Breaking: Three MP's were kicked out of Parliament today on grounds of Treason. The three MP's were trying to sell Franconian secrets to enemies.. Treasonous acts were called out by the Empress. Treason is punishable by law and would ban the citizens for life from ever returning.

Heated Discussions: The Empress was seeing red on the Parliamentary floor today after the treason story from yesterday. It sparked the debate of whether or not the Empress was being too harsh on the MP's.

MP Cathy Ioni: Empress Xemptoworth, it is barbaric that you sent the three MP's away from the Empire, knowing DANG WELL that one of the MP's had a wife and two children. I have to ask you, what went through your mind?

Xemptoworth: What went through my mind was that three of my MP's were caught selling government secrets to an enemy nation! What did you expect me to do, flog them? Publicly execute them? No! We are the FREAKING Franconian Government! We DO NOT act like this! I implore this behavior. Just because you are a parent and are part of helping the Franconian Governmental Process work DOES NOT mean you are above the law! I implore your statement Mrs. Ioni. Your whole party is behind you looking at you in awe because of how ignorant you look right now. Because of these three MP's we are now more vulnerable than ever. And we will find the FEBI agents who helped these MP's and exparté them from the Motherland as well...

The Empress is in flames tonight as she tries to figure out what to do with her Parliament. She is down 3 more members. That is now 14 members including the newly counted 11 people from the Naval Ship Detonation in the Southern Empire. Special elections are being called, but when?

[OOC] I think I'm finally ready to jump back into things!

Breaking: Xemptoworth's latest explosion at Parliament is echoing from coast to coast. The Empire now upset to figure out that their elected MP's are acting like defects in Parliament. 3 Selling Government secrets to an enemy nation (not found out yet) and 11 MP's participating in an attack on a Homeland Naval Ship. People are now pressuring the Empress to sweep and interrogate all of Parliament to make sure that there are no defects. The People are also wanting stricter requirements for running for MP or any other public office. The newest rounds of DT are happening at a government level and are counting on the Empress to stop it all.

Sartorian News Network
Various city governments along the coast have issued weather warnings, asking local residents to stay indoors amid heavy rains and flash floods. Suderia Mayor Giacomo Belucci has said that he is in constant contact with the state and national governments to ensure that emergency services are ready to be provided to those affected.

Breaking: Northern FE has banned all combustion engines by FE Calendar 2424. Gasoline powered cars are not common much anymore, but for the people that use them it won't be much use to you in the coming years. By FE 2424 if anyone in Northern FE who is driving a car with a combustion engine will be fined with a pollution ticket.

More breaking: Xemptoworth is now in FE's most prestigious magazine after blowing up on Parliament. The article says "Watch out. Don't get on her bad side or else she'll blow..." more on that later.

Disarray in Parliament: Much of the nation is in awe at the moment as the FCP (Franconian Conservative Party) are using Ancient American tactics to, all of a sudden, stop legislation from passing.

(Xemptoworth on Parliament Floor): I'm upset at the FCP right now because I thought we as Parliament were better than that. I understand that there are disagreements because we both are on opposite sides of the aisle, but to use extremism against a Naval Ship, selling Government secrets to an enemy nation, and now [you're going to love this one] presenting legislation to build an oil rig on one of the most volatile... *tears up* parts of the ocean close to us even though we are a country who uses 62% green energy. This is not okay. In my executive power, I, Empress Xemptoworth, am not fearful that the FCP is starting to turn out how most opposition parties turned put in Ancient America and declare it an Exremist party...

(Back in the Newsroom): The Empress, who seems to be ready for a massive Parliamentary fight, is not turning down any ideas from the FCP and has said that she will "take any comments from the FCP about me, will continue to run the nation as normal, and won't stop trying to calm the FCP down."

When will the Domestic Extremism end?

Sartorian News Network
Captain Giacomo Bellucci has resurfaced on the news cycle after suggesting that the Sartorian Navy is obstructing efforts to investigate the explosion of a small cargo ship near the Soltane Islands. Bellucci, who leads the Carabinieri Office of Technical Investigations, says that the Navy has taken control of the investigation of the explosion and refuses to accept Carabinieri jurisdiction over the matter.

While in prior instances the Navy has argued that it has tried to work with Captain Bellucci, in this case the Navy has refused to comment beyond a brief statement that the matter is subject to national security considerations.

Breaking: The Franconian Parliament is voting on a spending bill that could possibly send the FE into a new Era of spending that may increase our debt by at lease 1 Trillion Astrons. On this spending bill, massive increases may be set for infrastructure for maintenance of the vast railway network across the nation. Increases in spending for education will make sure that our schools are up to date and has the current curriculum that our children need for the future and also sets a fixed price to how expensive University books cost. Economists are saying that most of the funding will be in Environmental Protection. The Empress is said to speak about the planned oil rig later this week. She says she is openly denying funding for oil related services.

So what's not in this spending bill?

(MP Hilda McGinnis): Looking over this plan, I do not see any clear statement on whether or not we will continue to support Airline, telecommunications, Fixed mortgages, or any form of universal Pre-K or Elementary school.

(The Empress): Those topics will be further discussed with your committee and will be campaigned once agreed upon. I understand we need to continue to fund those items, but increases in military spending and education are essential to make business run as usual here in the Empire.

Parliament will continue to discuss what is being increased and what is being decreased. The spending bill is at about 2.1 trillion Astrons and is said to be the biggest budget the Empire has seen. More on this later.

Breaking: A 54 year old has been arrested for killing the last known flamingo in the Franconia Empire. The FCP giving praise to the man, but environmentalists, and pretty much everybody else, are miffed.

(Amy Wilson - Citizen) Whoever did it should be ashamed of themselves. They don't care and only wanted to make the next exotic jerkey only to sell it at an extremely high margin because it will be the last meat of it's kind in the Empire. That is sick.

(Markus Aardvark- Member of the Empire's Most Loved Animals TV Show): Fran the Friendly Flamingo will be missed and WE DEMAND THAT EXOTIC ANIMALS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE FOOD IN THE EMPIRE! It's so sad to see what we do to exotic animals. Most of them are on the endangered species list.

The Empress has not made any remarks on this situation yet, but speculation is that she might be hospitalized due to her recently more stressful days in office. Her medical team have been informed that high blood pressure may result in serious anxiety attacks. They are watching her and have informed her on the situation.

Trending Now: A new drink has hit the market and is sweeping the Empire by storm. It is a vitamin drink, usually served hot, made with lemons, lemon juice, honey, and oregano. It is supposed to help you sleep better and clear your immune system if drank regularly when ill. It was first developed by Ancient North Americans as a medicine, the purpose now the same, but also as a vitamin drink. Some Franconian versions include it blended with whipped cream and honey drizzle, or simply iced.

Headlines: A former Emperial Navyman is calling out to the Empire to ask of there is any better way to protect Naval Ships from being attacked by Homeland Extremists. The Empress has said that she and about 25 other MP's are working on an Anti-Extremist bill, but no details have been released. The former Navyman said that if anything goes awry then he'll do something about it himself. Maybe a new candidate could be taking shape.

Mid-term elections are around the corner. More and more FDP representatives are running than ever for Parliament to fill those 14 missing spots. Only 8 people in the FCP have registered to run a campaign (or reelection in some cases) to run for the position, which sounds troubling for the future of the party. With Parliament being upset and angry that their fellow MP's are acting the way they are, this sounds like a breath of fresh air. 28 FDP representatives are running a campaign for election.

Heavy rain is expected for most of the Empire today as storms make it from West to East. The Weather Service has issued flood watches and warnings for the Southern parts of the Empire. The South has been hit by drought for 3 years and has seemed to only recover by just 9% with water run-off from melted snow in the mountains.

Breaking: Promises to update and fix the power grid are being acted on, but why is it taking FEG&E so long to build certain sections. The answer? ...Well nobody really knows. Just today, the grid lost electricity to 2,000 residents in San Juarez leaving them in the dark since possibly overnight. People, antsy and curious, don't know how they'll live until it's on..

(Resident): "When the grid coming back, man! I take care of my sick grandmother and we haven't had power for 7 hours. I heard the click at about 2 am when my internet shut off and my doors unlocked from my Smart security system. I've been up since because I'm scared there might be looting, but thank goodness SJPD is here to help..."

Hundreds taking to Social Media asking and atting the Empress on what to do.

(The Empress): Please be patient. FEG&E is working on it. Expansion to the grid may cut out some customers for hours or even a day or two, but we are progressing to what the FE needs to be in the future.

Residents aren't accepting that as an answer and will not take no for an answer, even though the Empress isn't denying them anything. We will update you as the story progresses.

Breaking: Communal neighborhoods are starting to become a normal thing. Many cities agreed to change the style and layout to look "eco and not an eyesore to both citizens and visitors". Many residents in the not-so-attractive "snake neighborhoods" (a nickname for free flowing suburbs) are happy because these neighborhoods will include a community garden, parks, schooling, medical, police, and self extinguishing fire systems, all within 5 to 6 minutes from where they live. Shopping markets will connect these neighborhoods and lots start as low as 85,000 Astrons. The Empress, not so keen on Parliament's decision while she was touring the power grid expansion project, says that she will try to look at this as a step in the right direction when it comes to affordable housing and expanding the Healthcare and Education network. The decision to switch suburb styles nationwide was voted on 25 yea to 12 nae to 3 undecided.

More information on the Communal Housing Project will be released tomorrow as the Empress will speak about the cost, environmental impact, and building codes and safety measures she would like to add to prevent injury in a natural disaster.

Socialist nations and socialists are allowed in the region, if that's what you're asking. There's even one as regional delegate :p

[Sartoria 101] Unit 16

The Office of Technical Investigations, also known as Unit 16, is a division within the Carabinieri -the Sartorian national police- tasked with investigating unexplained phenomena. Unit 16 was formed in 1978 to manage a sudden surge of cases that defied rational explanation. Over time Unit 16 transitioned from merely consolidating cold cases to actively investigating them, slowly gaining notoriety among government circles for a tendency to ask uncomfortable questions. While many have pushed over the years for Unit 16 to be disbanded, those efforts have been fruitless due to timely interventions by sympathetic lawmakers.

Unit 16 has become more prominent in recent years under the command of Captain Giacomo Bellucci, who has had several high profile confrontations with the Sartorian Navy over unexplained happenings in the Soltane Islands, which are alleged to be the site of multiple UFO sightings.
