Fantastic!

Hello! Hope your nations are peaceful.

I think it's time to resume our activity. I'll be working on some stuff this week. Let's aim for daily updates, maybe even starting some collaboration?

Breaking: Labs in Franconia Empire have discovered a new microbe in the waters of Northern Franconia Empire that, if invested, can cause stomach pain and headache. Officials in Climate County, NFE have issued a warning not to drink the water in the Empire. Hundreds of thousands are effected, but luckily no illnesses to report.

After a heated civil war pertenia is now become a "free and democratic" state.

Congratulations. Much success on your nation's new journey and best wishes.

Breaking: Head of the Defense Department of Franconian Homeland, Marcia Duvall, has passed away from an unknown cause. When she was found, no DNA was found at the scene and no damage was done to the Head Defense Minister. Autopsy reports will be back on Tuesday. This is huge as the FE is fighting with some underground domestic terrorism from the previous election cycle. If it was the URFE (Underground Republic of Forgotten Emperials) Terror Group than how did they enter the Trapezoid, the most secure place in the Empire aside from the Leader's Residence. EBI reports have not come in, but Agents will be on patrol of the Nation's Capital for anything fishy. No word from Xemptoworth just yet.

Second Councillor Benedetto Sciutto participated yesterday in a ceremony to formally open the 2133 Mountaineering Season. While the season was technically opened in December, every January a formal ceremony is organised by the Sartorian Mountaineering Association (SMA) to bid good fortune to climbers and to open the season's base camp of Rotale, the nation's highest peak. In the ceremony Second Councillor Sciutto spoke of the mountaineering tradition and referred to Patrizio Giordano, a former climber who was subsequently elected Prince of Sartoria in the early 21st century, asking climbers to refer to him as an example of gallantry and sportsmanship when up in the mountain.

The Second Councillor also congratulated the SMA on its efforts to revive the Unity Expedition, an international trekking and climbing event that brought together people and companies from various nations for charity purposes. The Foreign Office has confirmed that invitations to participate have been sent out to all countries who wish to participate.

[OOC] I'll post a dispatch later about the Unity Expedition. Post here on the RMB if you're interested! Special shout out to Franconia Empire, in case they're interested.

We're in! You know the FE loves expedition.

Breaking: The Empress, alongside with Parliament, passed a 3.9 Trillion Astron infrastructure project that will get the Empire "storm ready". Flooding is now becoming a big part of Franconian life in the north and east due to sea level rise. The Empress has already declared a climate emergency last year and the effects are still being felt. This bill is to include funding for sea walls, so flooding on the coast will be temporarily stopped, but what about the Empire's rivers? The Empire will be spending surplus money out of the Reserve to fund for better drainage in river cities and "River Walls" on populated parts of the river. This bill will also include citizen restrictions and visiting hours for popular fishing spots during the rainy period of the year (varies by part of the Empire). Tornado shelters will also be included in this bill.

First Councillor Bonaventura visited the First National Hospital in Messelia, where he inspected ongoing works that will modernise its infrastructure and expand its capacity. Following his visit, the First Councillor remarked that "[his] government has a permanent commitment to ensuring top of the line healthcare for all citizens" and committed to fulfilling his promise of increased funding in the next annual budget. The Leader of the Opposition welcomed the expansion of the First National Hospital but criticised the Government for "waiting this long to increase funding", saying that healthcare spending should've been increased the moment the government assumed office.

Welcome to the LXVIII Unity Expedition!

First held in the aftermath of the 1992 Rotale Disaster, the Expedition is an international charity event organised by the International Mountaineering Association. The event involves trekkers and climbers coming together to explore mountain regions and raising awareness and funds for charitable causes. Initially consisting a single mountain climb, the Expedition has since been expanded to include several subsidiary climbs and a trek that is open to the general public; this allows amateur climbers and the public to participate and contribute to various charitable causes.

This year the Expedition will take place in Alpanio Natural Park, deep within the mountain regions of Sartoria. Alpanio Natural Park is home to many world-renowned sites and trekking routes, including Alpanio, which at 8,739m is the world's highest mountain. While the dates for the Expedition may always change, mainly due to weather conditions, the projected dates are as follows:

  • Alpanio Base Camp Trek & Subsidiary Treks: 13 February - 25 February 2133

  • Alpanio Unity Climb & Subsidiary Climbs: 10 April 2133 (expected summit date for Alpanio)

Breaking: Empress Xemptoworth has signed an executive order to raise minimum wage from 20 Astrons per Hour to 23 Astrons per Hour. The executive decision comes from reasoning about how the people in the working sector are not paid enough, but the people in this sector of Franconian life are barely able to get by because of their tax bracket. This executive order also included tax decreases for the working sector, shipping sector, and schoolworkers (the most common subsects of the Franconian Economy). Taxes in these economic subsects will fall from 63% to 58%.

More Breaking: Economists don't expect the stock market to fall anytime soon. The National Treasury has stated that the FE has a surplus of Astrons, making it possible for the Government to send out checks of Å3200 (Å= Astrons). Parliament will vote on this alongside the Empress on Tuesday.

More news later.

The Sartorian Mountaineering Association (SMA) has confirmed that Silvana Girotto will join the Sartorian Delegation to the Alpanio Unity Climb. Ms Girotto joins Gianni Galliani, Ernesto Manca and Flavia Pichetto as one of the four climbers who will attempt to summit Alpanio, the country's highest mountain, as part of the biennial Unity Expedition. The SMA has also confirmed that it will participate in the subsidiary climbs to Cinquazzuri, Mt Vincenzo and Rotale with individual teams for each mountain.

This announcement comes as the Government of Tavoletro, the state where the Expedition will take place, rejects criticism from opposition parties that hosting the event represents a waste of valuable funds. Governor Mario Endrizzi said in a recent press conference that his administration is committed to the various charity causes championed by the Expedition and that the benefits from hosting the event vastly outweigh the costs of from organising it. The International Mountaineering Association has repeatedly said that there have been no issues with the Tavoletri Government and that organisation has been seamless.

Breaking: New laws against domestic terrorism have been unanimously voted on in Parliament tonight as domestic terrorism is becoming an issue in the FE. The problem arises as new groups from the former Second Urong state, Golden Cliffs, come into the forefront. These groups believe that the Franconia Empire is doing wrong for their people and that people should take matters into their own hands and overthrow the Empress. FENN is forced into neutrality by Federal Law, so no opinions can be made at this time. The Emperial Government has stated that anybody who is caught committing an act of domestic terror, the Franconian Government will place you on a no fly list and you will be tried as Public Enemy No. 1.

More news later...

Breaking: A new round of domestic terrorism started this morning in West San Juarez where an explosion from an unknown source killed 16 this morning. Investigators say they found no traces of the people who set off the explosion, but there were tire marks on one of the main avenues leading West. FEBI is on the scene and will be issuing a curfew for West SJ. People in the area did not catch a glimpse of the car leaving. More on this later...

Breaking: Tax season is upon us and the working sector of the economy is happy. The Department of Taxes and Tax Refunds will be giving out bigger refunds this year thanks to Empress Xemptoworth's petition to make sure the Working Sector of the economy gains the traction it needs to support the many families in that sector. Empress Xemptoworth asked governors of every Franconian state to cut Working Sector Wage taxes by 11.35% due to the national surplus. The Treasury Department stated that the Taxes and Refunds office (for short) will also include a check from the treasury for 3,200 Astrons as a Government Surplus Check. You'll only be able to recieve the Surplus Check if you file your taxes by May 3rd. Tax penalties and charges of tax evasion will happen if you don't do your taxes. They're pretty important. Happy Taxes, Franconia.

LXVIII Unity Expedition | Alpanio Natural Park, Sartoria
Week 1 News Summary

It's the end of Week 1 of the CXVI Unity Expedition, meaning it's time for a news summary of this week's events. The highlight of the Expedition thus far is the progress made with the Alpanio Base Camp Trek. Participants left from Castanoglia on February 13 and trekked almost non-stop until they reached Ponte di Saurino the next day. There they spent a full day to acclimatise, since they had ascended from an altitude of 1,400m to nearly 2,800m in 24 hours. There trekkers also had an opportunity to learn about the Battle of Saurino, one of the bloodiest engagements in the Third Sacuri War.

Following their day of acclimatisation, trekkers left for Giampierina and arrived at Abruzzo on February 17. Both cities also had prominent roles in the Third Sacuri War: Giampierina was a sanctuary for anti-Sacuri refugees and was never conquered by Bloody Hand, whereas Abruzzo was one of the Bloody Hand's early conquests and at one point served as their capital. Following their stays at these historic cities, trekkers spent last night at the Designated Rest Point, an outdoors camping sight where they could gaze at the unpolluted night sky.

Today trekkers should arrive at Festa D'Arezzo, a town that, sitting at an altitude of 4,751m, represents the first opportunity for trekkers to acclimatise to the higher altitudes of the region.

Subsidiary Treks

The Subsidiary Treks are also well on their way. Thousands of participants are reported to be on schedule, with particularly high numbers of trekkers choosing to go on the Rotale Base Camp Trek. Today also marks the end of the Giordano Natural Park Trek, which at 6 days long was one of the the shortest of the treks. Maria Ventresca, Mayor of Giordano, is expected to preside over the arrival and closing ceremony for the trek, and she will also offer a special dinner to all participants.

The Vittaca Trail is expected to finish tomorrow with the arrival of participants at Vittaca, a small town close to Rotale Base Camp. Finally, the Highlands Trail finished on February 17 after 4 days of enthusiastic participation from hundreds of trekkers who explored the Highlands, a region of Giordano Natural Park known for its vibrant vegetation.

Emperial Recognition: Mountain climbers are heading to Justinian Kalominos for an Expedition the FE has been waiting for! These Mountain climbers are not only from the Franconian Mountaineering Association, but they're also eco experts looking at the effects of climate change up above the many valleys here in the Empire. This Expedition won't only give the Empire to mix and mingle with the global community, but may also give us answers. On the way up, the FMA members will be only observing snow pack and snow melt on sunny days and will be observing wildlife patterns to see how bad climate change can effect the higher elevations. Reports will not be published until full research is 100% complete.

FENN News.

Unusual Weather: Snow and temperatures in the -20s have been recorded in the West close to the Southern border of Golden Cliffs. Power grid failure from ice taking down power lines in West Rhine Hillside. FEG&E working hard to repair the lines so people can get to work and cook again. Temperatures will be 12 below 0 tomorrow in North Edge. Saddleback Industries and Trash will see snow and -17. Be careful, Franconia.
