FYI, the debate will be in #june-presidential-debate, not #debate.

It's occasionally infuriating, but The Atlantic has quite a few good thought-provoking pieces as far as left-leaning sites go, though the Kevin Williamson debacle remains ridiculous. It was probably actually my main go-to site until they paywalled it, and it ironically enough has not seemed as good since even after they loosened it up. I try to read Vox (italicizing the one-word sites looks weird for some reason) and they can be all right, and occasionally informative but the amount of self-congratulatory nonsense they get up to about being supposedly so high-minded and intelligent ends up getting to be too grating at times.

I've found The Federalist to be an interesting kind of hit-or-miss, occasionally excellent articles looking at the culture wars and the like, and occasionally pieces that just seem to be written to be shallow and bitter. On the whole, though, I tend to like it, more depth than most conservative sites in my mind.

The Economist was my main go-to for a long time, but I've ended up dropping them pretty much entirely, as they gave up on the liberal part of being a classically liberal site with swerving all the way to the authoritarian left on cultural issues and it wasn't worth trying to slip past their article limits, which they cracked down on anyways.

For more short-form sites, RedState was just the craziest thing in what happened to it. It had a full-on purge and turned a hard 180 from the anti-Trump capital to full-bore 'trigger the libs' support, I can't think of anyone else that managed to pull such a full conversion in the blink of an eye like that. Not even really worth checking anymore.

I despise the Atlantic, to me it’s the capital of classic democratic elites. Very very occasionally someone writes something worthwhile on it, but mostly it’s just “[left-wing framing of a terrible right-wing solution] to [insert issue]”

Is there anything you *don't* despise?

I hope neither, but probably one of those two... Sad... I would like Kosiniak-Kamysz to win :/

PO and PIS seem to become hegemonies and that is no good for democracy. Both of them are very socialist in economy and they only differ slightly on social matters. This would not be good for the country.

Let's get the Library Commission going.

Horatius Cocles, would you want to chair a Library Commission? Roborian, The Gallant Old Republic, and The Catholic State of Eire, would you like to be members?

Anyone but PiS in my book. I, like you, support PSL.

I like the party ,they would be my pick, but in my country you can't tell who you're gonna vote for... Because that would be "vote agitation"

I don't know much about Polish politics but I love the fact that they made Jesus Christ their king.

Polish army accidentally started occupation in a Czech city... I hope it doesn't get too far in international politics.

In media? Very, very little.

These two speak a whole lot of sense and they look at things not just at surface level but also call out what are the systemic problems in the U.S.. One is a Democrat and the other a Republican but are both focused on helping the working class and they detest the corporatist neo-liberals in both parties :

By this article it seems the Czechs are reasonable and understanding, I don't think anything major will happen by this incident:

We had this incident in 1995, but, as it shows, humans are usually reasonable and take the right decisions:

We do have an issue to decide on -- my re-election as President, per the Omnibus Act, leaves my Senate seat open and vacant. Our Constitution does not have a provision for special elections; the President is fully in his power to appoint anyone to fill any vacancy in the Senate. Having said that, the Senate term is far from over and the next scheduled Senate elections will not be for months. Thus, I'm considering hosting a de facto special elections (some unofficial polling, if you will) to see who citizens would like to fill the seats. Perhaps such an election can also be a trial run for a few things. For instance, does ranked-choice voting work? Is it too confusing? Well, there's one way to find out!

Also, Library Commission members, check your telegram inboxes! <3

I updated the regional dispatch and the world factbook entry. (Recommendations for changes are welcome.)

Some items to add to the regional to-do list:
* The High Court is vacant right now, so United massachusetts needs to nominate three justices.
* The Senate no longer has a size or electoral method, so the Congress needs to pass a law on that.
* Likewise, the Congress needs to enact a law providing for the election of the Assembly's Speaker.
* Both houses of Congress should pass rules of procedure, and the High Court should do the same.

Also, a number of you need to update your forum profiles:

In particular, please make sure your avatars, display names, and display groups are up to date.

I find it interesting how closely support for PO and PiS matches the parts of Poland that were formerly part of Germany before Yalta and the parts that were not.

I only go there incidentally, normal reads for me are simply the Catholic Herald, Postliberal Thought, and the Imaginative Conservative, with occasional dips into First Things and the New Oxford Review. Often I choose to ignore the world and the media.

I've opened a new thread in the new Assembly forum to discuss legislative elections:

https://nsrighttolife.proboards.com/thread/153/legislative-elections-discussion-thread

There are two issues: (1) senatorial elections and (2) speakership elections.
