For a second, I though you said someone's name. Then I realized that you meant the Kingdom of Leon.
I mean, he was cynical and the event offered me a choice between 50 piety and that. And, frankly, I figured it would be less in-character to take the piety.
Still, the Spanish have not always been in conflict with Muslims. The Timurids and Castile got very friendly towards each other, to the point that Timur himself said he saw Enrique III as basically being a son.
Granted, this was mostly due to mutual hatred of other Muslims (namely, the Ottomans and the Mamluks), but, hey, it's something.
Anyway, my Reconquista is still going along significantly faster than it did historically. Just 28 more holdings and an extra kingdom, and I'll be able to crown myself the Spanish Emperor.
Of course, dealing with the on-again-off-again Umayyad/Abbasid hot potato empire isn't the problem. It's France, Eastern Europe, and really most of the world.
Both! There are two a day: minor (12 pm) and major (12 am - midnight). Now that's if you're in Eastern Time.
And how about the hellhole that's been left there?
Do you realise how bad it is?
That violet realm just above the centre, there?
That's the Kingdom of the Franks. The guy in charge isn't even Frankish. He's French. He's just accepted that France is not a feasible idea and is trying to reverse the failure of the Karlings.
Lombardy isn't even Lombard. They were initially, yeah, but then they formed the Italian Empire, conquered Rome, and temporarily got rid of the pentarch there. Then the emperor died and the realm got inherited by Hungarians, who went on to exile the Lombard realms to Ruthenia and proclaimed themselves the Lombard Emperors. And then the Hungarians went nuts, or at least more nuts than they had already gone, which was certainly not lacking in nuttiness.
*Shoots myself in the head*
There are two Burgundian kingdoms. After the whole "collapse of France" thing, the Duke of Burgundy decided he wanted to be a king and so he created the custom Kingdom of Burgundy, not to be confused with the Kingdom of Burgundy. And the Kingdom of Burgundy survived long enough that it now has de jure territory, albeit only in Normandy. The new Burgundy is French; the old Burgundy is Ostrogothic. Additionally, the old Burgundy owns Flanders, which they only conquered because it was previously conquered by a Hindu Norman who got thrown aside in a holy war. The original Burgundy also owns Oxford, but I'm not sure how that one came about.
Sweden conquered modern-day Slovakia.
There are a good few Mongol rulers in Europe, despite there being exactly zero Mongols in Mongolia. It is Mongolia, nonetheless, and it is ruled by a Chalcedonian Khazar. Coincidentally, most realms on the steppe are Chalcedonian, with the exception of a few isolated provinces belonging to the Afghan kingdom, which is still Zunist and has even managed to convert some of its territory.
The Kerajids are Kharijites with the Shia Caliph as a vassal.
The Byzantines have been ruled by Monothelite Croats for decades.
-Probably court physician shenanigans
-A lot of independent rulers in Europe means a lot of missionary opportunities
-Bulgaria conquered some land from Serbia, then suddenly it got taken over by a Mongol khanate which went on to conquer all of Avaria and Bulgaria before collapsing; the Mongols stayed around
-Basileus made a bad decision on who should educate his kid
-Shia Caliphate rose up in Algiers and won, and then got overthrown a few decades later by the Kerajids, who have since forced the Caliphate into southern Morocco

So im gonna be in a slight day of sorrow today as my grandmothers dog died overnight to what we believe was Kidney Failure. She lived a good life and we were lucky to give her another chance when we adopted her about 7 years ago. We didn't know how old she was just that out of the 5 dogs in the family she was probably the 2nd oldest.
