The Unity Conference
Foreign heads of state and diplomats have flown into Behr this evening. The leaders of Cathartes Aura, New Leinster, Ozyrnia, Nuevo Helios, the Common Union of the States, Aidia, Floyssauu, Baikala, Madison and Wisconsin, Provident Nation and of course Bagnallia.
Being held in CUS, the Administration plans to show the guests many of the most wondrous technological innovations CUSian engineers have come up with, including the invisible headset.
Next, a classic game of bowling will determine the best nation.
To wrap up the fun festivities, the leaders will play the hit game “Secret ISNA” which bears a striking resemblance to the modern game based on a mustached German leader.
The next morning true talks will begin over a delicious lunch provided by Panda Express, where the leaders will discuss trade policy, international relations, defense, and other geopolitical issues concerning the world.

Stay tuned as the CUS unity conference is only getting started!

Baikalan delegation banned from Unity Conference amid genocide accusations

(9 JANUARY 2022) | KASSYM – During the second Unity Conference that is currently held in Behr, the capital of the Common Union of the States, the delegation of the North Islaian nation of Baikala has walked out after disagreeing with a non aggression pact between the prospected member states of the international organisation that the Conference’s purpose is to found. Statements from some nations, including Bagnallia and the host country, later indicated however that Baikala was banned from the Conference due to suspicions that the Baikalan government is afflicting genocide on a local minority group known as the Sand People, whereas it was also suggested that Baikala used the Conference to spy on the other participating nations.

“We are of course collectively flabbergasted”, foreign minister Elo Tandylynne said. “This Conference is of course a big step for many nations, and we still have to find out how much we can all trust each other, but it seems that Baikala has entered the Conference with no intention to cooperate and just wanted to check out the other participants’ tactics.” She didn’t want to comment on the accusations of genocide. “Our partners and we need to look into that in more detail”, she said. “Some nations seem very convinced of certain facts, but before the (Ozyrnian) government will take a stance, we need more information.”

The Conference will go on as scheduled, with many more subjects to be addressed. Instead of Baikala, it has been confirmed that Givorondia will join the table in Behr.

Floyssauuan Frigate Shot at After Straying Too Close to Corridor
The AMFC's mine corridor, dubbed the "Corridor of Death," was the subject of much tension recently as a Floyssauuan frigate strayed too close to the opening for the comfort of one particular submarine. While it remained within international waters, the ARN Warhammer, a Scythe-class Nuclear Attack Submarine, noticed it creeping too close, and in an attempt to drive the frigate off, launched two timer-fused torpedoes and aimed them near, but not at or too close to, the frigate. The resulting explosions rocked the ship around, but the shockwaves weren't serious enough to do any damage and the frigate was allowed to turn back for the rest of the fleet. Second of Third Cassius Macer later reported that he carried out the "warning shot" as a means of protecting the corridor from surveillance, but Lead First of Second Fidiculania Metella claims he did nothing but "expose the corridor's location to the enemy."

Fidiculania has decided to not take any disciplinary action against Cassius, but she has made it clear to the rest of the submarines in the corridor that none of them are to ever engage unless an enemy ship enters Aidian territorial waters. The Aidian government has also made a statement that while the incident was unfortunate, they won't be apologetic about it.
"Frankly, they can [censored] off. They started this, so they can deal with the consequences," President Scaeva stated in a press conference shortly after the incident.

Art Exhibit Vandalized by Ill-Tempered Children
Tragically, an art exhibit from famous 12th century Aidian artist, Gaius Bantius Figulus, was absolutely devastaed by a group of ill-tempered pre-teens that were caught multiple times shouting "art sucks, streaming is better" at patrons. This was the first time these particular pieces were taken out of secured fixtures for years, and the AICC (or Aidian Internal Protection Agency) has taken the children into custody and is currently awaiting a date for their trial, as the exhibit and art piece owners are pressing charges.

Kaesertor Announces Huge Government Contract
Kaesertor Industries, specifically their Kaesertor Automobiles Branch, has announced that they are excited to sign a massive contract with the Aidian Peace Forces to produce a "huge number" of land vehicles for their efforts to militarize the nation for the new defense initiative. This, along with another, even more massive, contract with Interstellar Shipping and Shipwright Incorporated, marks the last contract the APF will make, according to President Scaeva.

"We intend to go back to our debt-free governmental policy after this crisis, and with Floyssauu's inaction, along with massive waves of support from both allies and friends, we don't believe this... situation will escalate much further. Should they decide to attack, it will be a devastating push towards our lands, and we already have enough built up to deal with and repel an invasion." He would later continue with, "honestly, this whole ordeal is just a waste of resources for both of us."

Aidia's Government Supports Baikala's Removal from Conference.
The Senate has decided to take the initiate this time, and Chief Senator Minidius Regulus made an announcement shortly after a session was held in response to Baikala's removal from the Unity Conference.
"We in the Aidian government applaud the Unity Conference's organizers for their quick removal of Baikala. They took the noble goal of peace, as well as our [all the nations in the conference's] trust, and abused it for their own gain. It's shameful, really. First Floyssauu's attacks and now this. We're starting to see that some parts of the world have even less honor than the Nadris, which is shocking to say the least."

After the Chief Senator's announcement was made, President Scaeva added some remarks during the conference.
"Aidia is proud to be apart of an organization that takes action against these things," he spoke, "but I'll be honest, we don't feel like this is enough. Their official ally, a nation that is actively closing us in and blockading us from the world, is still allowed to attend without consequence. I hate to do this after such an event, but I feel the need to. Floyssauu needs to be removed. They shouldn't be allowed to attend a conference of peace while they actively wage hostility against us."

Opponents of freedom of movement demonstrate in front of Foreign Affairs Ministry

KASSYM – A large crowd gathered in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today to protest the prospect that all citizens of the nations currently participating in the second Unity Conference in Behr, capital of the Common Union of the States (C.U.S.), will have the possibility to travel to Ozyrnia without restrictions, should the government join the international organisation that is the intended outcome of the conference. Although the protest was announced by the small extraparliamentary right-wing party ZO (Zazonym Ozyrny, ‘Basic Ozyrnia’), the event was picked up and shared on social media, so that the Ysyl Šamra (Islai Square) in front of the Ministry was soon occupied by several thousands of protesters. The demonstration had been approved by the mayor of Kassym, but as the real number of protesters was much larger than expected, additional police units had to be deployed to make sure that public order could be maintained. The organisation reported no incidents.

“Tourism is good but there should be restrictions as to who is allowed to enter this country”, ZO party chairman Karmo Bužacyvanne explained. “Unemployment is already much higher than the government wants us to believe (you can find the real figures on our website!), so when those foreigners can come here to live and work in our country, we common Ozyrnians will be pushed away. This is our country so this should not happen! The government is trying to sell us out to foreign nations!”

President Tasno Erandyk, who attended the first conference in Whitehall but let Foreign Minister Elo Tandylynne represent the Ozyrnian government during the second conference, reacted with confusion and surprise to this scenario: “What? But no, how can they think that? The intention is that foreign companies will be able to settle here with less restrictions so that they can hire Ozyrnians, and for Ozyrnian companies to hire foreign assets so that they can grow; both of those will be beneficial for Ozyrnia and the Ozyrnians. At the same time the labour market will be expanded by these agreements, so this will allow Ozyrnians who’d like to work abroad to find jobs in other countries more easily. Besides, we are still negotiating; we will draw out what is in the best interest for our nation.”

The conference in Behr is still going on, with more topics to be discussed. The conference already caused controversy when the Baikalan delegation was forced to leave the negotiations following suspicions that the Baikalan government was committing genocide on the so called Sand People, an indigenous tribe living within Baikalan borders, while the most recent point of potential conflict has been identified as the Floysarian way of handling nuclear weapons and the military and sanitary hazards that it will impose on free trade and free movement between the member states of the prospective organisation.

Aidian Review: It's That Time Again....

Aidian Government Announces New High-Speed Rail
In an effort to increase employment and help modernization along, the Aidian Senate has announced that it has put forward contracts for a new national high-speed rail. This is one of a few projects the government has started in its new "Renewal Policy," a policy that the Sociales Democratici senate has been pushing, and the policy is mostly in favor of projects that will "end up paying for themselves in the long-run."

Cor Urbis' part of the rail has already been snagged by one of its own local contracting firms, but most of the rest of the nation has yet to pick from the many candidates they have suddenly gotten offers from.
"It's a good problem to have," Chief Treasurer Aconius Murena said in passing. "We're excited for what else this policy comes up with as we begin healing our centuries-old wounds."

SetllaAtra Signs Contract for Trains
StellaAtra has shocked most of the nation after the announcement of the high-speed rail when they, an aerospace company that rarely branches out, decided to pick up the first and largest contract for designing and manufacturing the trains.

"We're excited to expand our already-close relationship with the government by branching out into unknown territory for their benefit. This will certainly be... fun," StellaAtra's CEO, Daniel Evans, stated during his announcement.
StellaAtra won't be an exclusive train manufacturer for the rail system, but being the first will certainly have its perks.

Drought Ends in Sincomid
After nearly a year of unending drought, the farmers of Sincomid, the state that is essentially Aidia's breadbasket, woke up a few days ago to find that it had finally started to rain again. Since then, the rain has been unceasing but not heavy, creating ideal conditions for the once dried-out fields of Sincomid.

"This is just... amazing. It's, frankly, a miracle if you ask me. The few of us who could afford it had to import water from the other states to keep our businesses afloat, and now finally we're seeing rain again," a farmer rejoiced during an on-site interview. The government has already begun subsidizing the farms of Sincomid to get on their feet for the next crop rotation, and spirits are high once more in the state.

Aidians Rejoice at Peace Conference Progress
The Unity Conference, despite a few bumps some weeks ago, has drawn a lot of praise from the Aidian people, who have named it a "crowning achievement for world peace."

Many people pulled from the streets for our annoying questions gave a lot of positive feedback, stating that it was a "breath of fresh air after the [censored] we went through" (Anonymous). Some even said that anything else during the conference was of "little consequence" as long as the organization brought peace to its members.

Unity Conference
The neighboring nation of Common Union of the States V2 has been hosting a unity conference with several nations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not sent an observer to the conference citing "more pressing matters". The conference is not without its controversy such as the removal of the nation of Baikala, an ally of Hausklo. The Foreign Minister only said
"Well it seems that, per usual, a hasty removal was done for those nations to save face regardless of their own atrocities"

Tenelian Saint Canonized
St. Boniface of Tenelia was canonized by the Church today as the patron of the Tenelian Vicariate and all Tenelians. Boniface was a monk that helped spread Christianity to Tenelia. Himself a convert, he was maryted for his beliefs. Tenelian Christians both here and abroad celebrated his sainthood.

Outrage as armed conflict in Baikala resumes, but motion to boycott Baikala not carried in Chamber

KASSYM – Public and political outrage emerged after news broke that armed conflict has resumed in Baikala between government troops and the so called Sand People, with the former dealing a severe blow to the latter in a military operation named Operation Sandstinger. According to Baikalan government sources, the government troops killed around 75 Sand People, and wounded and captured even more. The tags #SaveSandBois, which originated in Nuevo Helios, as well as its Ozyrnian version #IridzerRumovezek has now become popular on Ozyrnian social media as well, and a call for a boycott of Baikalan products seems to gain momentum.

A motion in the Chamber of the People, the Ozyrnian parliament, to issue an official boycott against Baikala was however not carried, to the utmost dissatisfaction of the Nature Party (OP) that presented it: apart from the 14 members of the Nature Party, only 16 of 25 members of the socialdemocrat SKP and 2 of 10 members of the libertarian DPP voted in favour. 36 votes were needed for a majority. According to OP leader Dunno Zenyrdy, the government can still call for a boycott on its own accord, but it would have had a stronger base if it had been supported by the Chamber.

Just outside of Aidian territorial waters

A soft wind blows across the waves.

The bows of a Floyssauuan strike force cut through the sea and wind. At the center of the force is the helicopter carrier IFN Valentine, carrying 4 Emerald helicopter gunships armed to combat submarine threats and another 4 KELSTRA-61 attack helicopters, heavily armed. In front of the force is the cruiser Torrent, accompanied by the frigates Spellblade, Endeavour, Ethereal, Amity, and Exarch, with the minesweeper Sunburst.

For a force meant to land the first strikes in the Floyssauuan invasion of Greater Aidia, it is a rather small force.

For the past few months, tensions were at a high with Floyssauuan warships patrolling the waters outside Aidia. Aidian Sky Guard aircraft harassed Floyssauuan vessels with radio interference, and a few months back, a Floyssauuan frigate strayed too close to Aidian territorial waters resulting in a warning shot from an Aidian submarine.

Despite this, people still thought tensions would eventually die down. This was a reasonable thought. Things seemed like it would eventually cool down, just a temporary standoff between two nations. As long as no one struck the match, Floyssauuan warships would eventually leave and the two nations would have a rocky, but still somewhat cordial relationship.

Except, the match was struck.

Onboard the frigate Spellblade

...and Floyssauu will restore its lost glory! Glory to the imperium! Glory to Floyssauu!

Cheers erupt from the Spellblade's crew as the captain's speech over the intercom ends. They are getting evermore closer to breaching Aidian territorial waters. There is a sense of nervousness among the crew, but most feel determined.

As the Spellblade, and the rest of the force prepare for the invasion, they do not realize how much trouble they are in. How much trouble Floyssauu is in.

A few months back, the IFN Spellblade was the same frigate that strayed too close to Aidian territorial waters, and was the same one that got shot at by an Aidian sub. Had something gone wrong, say, a miscommunication, or if she was a bit closer, or if she even breached the waters, anything, it could've gone horribly wrong for the frigate. She may have cheated death that time.

But not this time.

A soft wind blows across the waves.
