If you're reading this you've probably just joined and are wondering what to do. This guide should help with the most common questions a new player might have, and if you have more there are links to more comprehensive guides at the end.

Your nation and how to govern it

Issues, policy and stats:
Answering ISSUES is the how you change the laws of your nation. You will receive several issues a day at random, each of which presents you with some sort of dilemmia and a number of options to respond to it. Upon making your choice you'll be informed of the effect the choice had on your nation and it's laws. These effects can range from statistical changes to the implementation of a broader policy such as are seen in the policy page. All these changes then go on to change how your nation page describes your nation. You will also get a message under The Talking Point more specific to the issue choice. Don't worry too much about these. They are meant to be more a humorous extreme then accurately reflect your decision.

Going feudal:
You probably noticed that most issues are geared toward modern nations while we RP as a medieval feudalistic realm. Keep an eye out for these issues and choose the indicated options, which will give you the feudal policy:

Settings and Customization
The SETTINGS page is where you'll find options for customizing your nation, including a national animal, currency, motto, or changing your classification(at 500 million you can enter a custom one). For every 250 million population you will unlock new custom fields; your leader, capital, and religion.

This page also allows you to change and upload your nation's flag, as well as modify the behavior of the banners at the top of your nation page, change how often you get issues, and the most important setting; set an email so you can recover your nation if you forget the password. There's a bunch of other more niche options in settings, check them out!
Telegrams
You're probably getting a lot of telegrams right now. Most of them are recruitment telegrams(like ours, sorry :c), these telegrams will stop after a while(you're getting them because you're new) but you can stop them by blocking them in your telegram settings

The World Assembly
You can only have one WA nation on NationStates at any time
The World Assembly, or WA, is sort of like the UN of NationStates. It has two bodies;
The General Assembly, which passes legislation on topics from environmental regulation to international trade, and
The Security Council, which deals with international security and recognizing great contributions to, or crimes against, the community.
Joining the WA entitles you to vote on WA resolutions and trade endorsements with other players. It's also requirement to join the ranks of Palatine's nobility.
Joining the WA
To join the world assembly you need to:

Go to settings
Set an email for your nation.(best to use the same email for all your nations)
Go to the world assembly page
Click  Apply to join.
Access your email and find the email from NationStates titled "[your nation's name] World Assembly Invitation"
follow the link provided
click the confirm button

Congrats! you're now a bonafide member of the World Assembly

I've joined, now what?
First? Endorse our Delegate. This helps make our region more influential abroad.
You can endorse someone from their nation page, just scroll to the bottom and you'll see the endorse button.
After that you'll be able to join in discussions on how our region votes and get help writing your own proposals.

How do I go to war?
You can't, but kind of can? Nationstates has military gameplay through the Raiding/Defending game. This is a form of gameplay that emerged from the way the WA delegacy works. A WA delegate has near total control of a region that has no founder(our region has a founder, so we can't be raided). Many regions have groups that move into these "founderless" regions and endorse each other with the hope of seizing the delegacy and using it to grief the region, either by destroying it, seizing it as a trophy, or through simple vandalism. These groups, called "invaders" or "raiders" are opposed by others, called "defenders" who track these raiders and either prevent them from seizing the delegacy in the first place, or take it back to save the region.

So are we raiders or defenders?
We are independent, which means we sometimes engage in either form of gameplay, depending on the circumstances. Generally however we defend other regions through our military, the Order of the Grail, doing so requires a significant number of WA nations. If you are a WA member and you're interested in participating in military gameplay you should join the discord and ask for the page role.
