a sandbox godfather game where youre actually fighting for control over a city against rival gangs

The Knights of the Old Republic series. They had canon endings before Disney. They have really good stories. They helped form the basis of a lot of lore or at least reinforced it. They have a bunch of stories in and connecting to them.

Question of the Day:

What is your nation's equivalent of Mount Everest, as a location for explorers to challenge?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
The impossible planet, from the pseudo-universe the Tethysian Armada was trapped in long ago. The size of a star and teleporting erratically through space, it requires specialised equipment to visit without succumbing to the intense gravity, and the crystalline mountains across its surface can be up to to a hundred kilometres tall. The views from the summits in the moment the planet undergoes a 'shift' are said to be unimaginably beautiful, however.

Probably the stürm mountain range that is located in the north east of the country. The mountain is shared by 3 other nations, Smalltopia in the west, New blackfire to the east, and The pacificss to the North.

At the northern pole of Arx is the Citadel of the Titans. Those who manage to pass through the planet's crust from their home will have the opportunity for climbing the World Tree. A massive tree that reaches high into the heavens, holding a myriad of stars and demiplanes, and serving as the home of the King of the Dragonian Pantheon. The top of the tree is the closest any can make it to the star at the center of Arx without committing blasphemy. The view from the top allows one to have a complete view of the entirety of the Dragonian Homeland. Very few pieces of technology work around the tree and only select magics/reality warping abilities. It is also most sacred ground and seen as a pilgrimage for the worthy.

The Ty Dreigiau Nature Reserve is less of a challenge on the surface, but its deep lake moryddraig has proven to be challenging to navigate with caves, underwater trenches, and even several shipwrecks. As of now, only 35% of the lake has been visited by humans, and a well fitting nickname for the lake "waters of the dead" is fitting as it is estimated that 76% of reported sunken ship has never been found.

Due to it's remoteness, the Ty Dreigiau Nature Reserve is arguably the most valuable place for dragon research, as 70% of Anaxopia's dragon species can be spotted around the reserve all year round. Other than dragons, the lake also offers an abundance of fish, and while controversial, a light carrier AFV Dreigiau is deployed in the lake to serve as training grounds for new carrier pilots, although the vessel is required to stop operating during the winter months.

The longest underwater cave system in Anaxopia can be found here, with lengths estimated to be up to 452 kilometers. Although the cave system sits at a shallow 50 meter below surface on average, some branches extend to 800 meters in depth. The farthest dive into the cave barely scratched the entrance as it only reached the 427 meters mark.

One day while traveling the cosmos, a space fleet found an solar system which is the most chaotic system in existance, as thus it was named "The Afterlife System". The system itself contains 10 planets and a Red Giant Star in its center. The planets are more than 1.3 billion kms away from the star, as to not get sucked up or burned to a crisp. The planets all share the same orbit and are somehow habitable. These planets all have their own challenges to pass for one to complete the dreaded "Afterlife Challange", where they have to survive on every planet for 10 days. But since the star is a red giant, the system will only live for 200000 more years.

The Lachluse Hills which are populated, but sparsely and only on a few dozen acres of cleared land on the edges because of the many poisonous plants and vines that grow there, coupled with the uniquely evolved local snakes which are immune to the poisonous plants. The snakes don't attack people, but nibble on the poisonous plants for food and to add the poison to their skin, making them undesirable to eat.

There were hopes that the land might be able to be cleared of poisonous plants by just burning them all, but after finding out that the plants' roots poison the soil and make it uninhabitable for any worthwhile crops to grow for at least 50 years, the Lachluse Hills have recently been declared a natural preserve thanks to an initiative spearheaded by the Green party. Every year some daredevil adventurers try to make it from one side of the hills to the other without dying (though no one has died doing this), and a lot of them come out the other side with rashes and blisters. It is also a popular stop for biologists who try to study the local fauna and flora while coated in heavy protective gear.

North aurelia

Perhaps this is a humble brag but upon looking at my statistics I noticed a curiosity about Osiris. North Aurelia is within the top 1% for intelligence, but not for scientific advancement.

One might assume these two things should correlate fairly consistently. That they do not suggests Osiris leads in technology without always understanding it.

I would propose we recognize these nations and individuals as the Redneck Rocketeers of Osiris. Their scientific stumbling leads the way!

As someone in the top 10% for science and bottom 2% for intelligence I absolutely think we deserve an award of some sort.

Truly who could forget the compelling history of The Free Islands in the centuries past! The ingenuity of the Coarsal Pirates, who many years ago looked upon their foreign neighbors with passionate envy, desiring the foreign things of immense value amd prestige and putting into motion the plans to acquire them. These ignoble men and women, tasking themselves with the grand labors of scientific discovering in the pre-industrial world, taking the felled trees of a decimated forest and tirelessly smacking these logs together until at some point... somehow... great seafaring vessels were formed, so they might set out to plunder those who had the Things!

Those foreign idiots could have had ships themselves but they had some "smarty" wittle away with trial and error instead of smacking lumber into submission.

Phraeatre FrA-7 (or as it is better known today, Fel Fetrea), an old Gauthierian mine and shipyard located atop the Versacede mountain ranges of Frer Ahkan. It was formerly used for building large warships during the Araeli Civil War, but most of it was destroyed during a French attack. The complex itself is extremely large, covering two thirds of the planet's South pole with its peak reaching just about 27km. The place is most notable for being the training place of the Fraetharean military, and the large pass being the result of a French warship laser. The place has definitely seen much more popularity in recent years following the system wide terraformation program for all inhabited planets, because who doesn't like forests.

--- I genuinely took a lot of time here because I had to think about what information I would keep and what I would leave out without it being too vague.

The Heirespire, a large tower leading to purgatory, where you either get a second chance at your current life, an escalator to heaven, or a train ticket back to [drum roll] Autonik. There is nothing supernatural going on in the tower itself, no tricks or magic, just a test of patience and endurance, because it's a 2 million step trip. There's a stop every 2.5k steps, lift service to the top is still being worked on.
