Trollshaw Realms:

-in Angmar, at the throne room-

After hearing what the hunters had to say, Torogok replied:
"Ah, yes, the Lonely Mountain. Brothers, you remember about the Lonely Mountain, right? You know, they educated us on this when we had those high cultured lessons, you know, there, in the swamps of Ettenmoors", and then Torogok, and the rest of the nearby trolls, started laughting at the absurdity of what was just said.
"Aye, you're good lads. You make me laugh.", Torogok continued. "Look, outside of the places we've already been, and that we have memories of, we think not of the outside world. Obviously, now as I'm the leader of this pack of trolls, I took an interest in those that border us. But more than that? This (pointing to his head) may be big, but I'm not witted like you. You could say that I am battle smart, not books smart. Heck, we only heard of those dwarves of Mirkwood because they sent us this nice message claiming that we're their mortal enemies. And we only heard of you and your kin to the West after we captured Angmar from the humans and orcs."

" I am sure that if we expand our lands we will meet many more, like you, like others. But my goal is to punish those that wronged me and my folk in the past; I have no wrongdoers in Forochel. We claim the lands of those that need to be punished, we help our allies if we have any, and we protect our lands if we're attacked. We have no interest in Forochel, unless Forochel has an interest in us. And if that happens, they're going to be some wrongdoers in Forochel for us to come and punish."

"And we come round to you. What exactly were you doing, spying on Angmar? While we were talking your kin are preparing their axes? Is this a diversion? You better tell me now ... "

*Skirmishes on the border with the Druwaith Folk resulted in the capture of a scout*

From out the interrogation tent emerge Snicklefritz and two smaller orcs – both of whom are wiping hands on trousers.

Alright boys, the bit that interested me the most from all that was when he talked about the humans that lie somewheres to their west. ‘Coldvar,’ I think he called them."

The other two orcs nodded dumbly at this, just as they would have done to anything their chieftain had said.

That scout claimed there was ‘darkness’ in them, and were ‘frightening’ during dealings. Well, if they’re someone to be wary of, they’re someone I want on our side. These humans might just be the right sorts of humans, ya understand?

Both orcs continued to nod in agreement.

Good. Now go and find these humans. Go and find this ‘Coldvar.’ Be sneaky ‘bout it, ‘cause you’re passing through these others’ lands. And when you find ‘em, you tell ‘em what I told you. Are you both clear?

Both orcs – already still nodding from before – continue to do so but with more vigor. Snicklefritz watched one of their earrings fly off with the enthusiasm being put into his rattling head nods. He sighed, and pulled out some parchment and began scrawling a hasty message. At the end, it is made clear that only one orc messenger is expected back, and that the humans are welcome to do with the other as they find fit.

Attacks Dorwinion from Horse Plains with full forces present there

King Alexius Comnenus receives a messenger from the Woodland Enclave, with a message requesting him to attack King Cvog and the Gundabad Dwellers. As he is thinking, a messenger arrives. He says, "My Lord, the reinforcements from the Withered Heath have arrived." The King says out loud, "Good. With this increased force will acquiesce to Queen Barazturg's request. Messenger! Inform her of this development." The messenger nods and leaves. His general, Erasmus, walks in and says, "My King is the attack to occur?" The King replies, "Yes. Go. Lead my men." The general nods and leaves. The King though, is secretly worried. If this attack is successful, he would not dare take another province for himself. But then what would his allies think of him? But then a small voice pops into his head and says, "That is a debate for another time. Focus on this first." He shakes his head, and the voice disappears.

Clan Frostbeard:

-In Angmar, at Torogok's throne room-

"Not at all, Warchief...", the old hunter replied clearing his throat : "We were send here in orther to know about those trolls scouting our eastern borders... recently my folk has been battling against the wolf-hides, ye see... We were worry that those savages were yer allies or that ye support them... We now know that is not like that for the good of each realms... Ye have yer own business, we have ours ... but they do not intersect in any way, that is clear."

"Thats why my Lord Dralvik, send us here...", the old dwarf continued: "his council was worried, and he is a resonable king and wants what is best for his people. So with that said I think the best thing is that we turn on our heels and go back on our way, after all this was just a misunderstanding, I have nothin' against ye and ye have nothin' against me..."

The old dwarf raised his hands with his palms facing the war chief, shrugging his shoulders: "What do ye say Warchief? What should I tell my Lord Dralvik?..."

The room was silent, for an instant, and then the voices of the trolls surrounding Torogok began to echo.

Trollshaw Realms:

- In Angmar, at Torogok's throne room -

The voices of the trolls surrounding Torogok began to echo. And then the ground began to tremble. At first, slowly, and then harder and harder. In a short while you could hear some commotion outside, while the trembling intensified. And then the doors violently snapped open, showing an exhausted huge troll, collapsing from the run.

Torogok paused the conversation with the dwarf-hunters and turned his attention towards the troll by the door.
"We'll continue immediately. Stay here.", Torogok informed the dwarf-hunters, and stood up from his impromptu throne and approached the troll by the door. He rose him up and both walked to another section of the fortress, leaving the rest of the trolls with the dwarf-hunters in the throne room.

- Torogok, in another section of the fortress -

"What?! The Orcs of Gundabad are marching a huge army on Angmar? So big that the whole land turned to black, on their crossing? It's all because you let those peons escape from Angmar!". Torogok slapped the troll in front of him, effectivelly slamming him into the ground. The earth viciously trembled again.

"Now its too late to bicker about it. And its too late to give orders to the other trolls of Ettenmoors to come to our aid. Drats, and we canth even do a surprise attack on their encampments on the High Pass because we don't have enough slave-soldiers after we sent 860 of them towards us, to guard Angmar."

Torogok thought about what to do.
"Prepare spike traps. Put the rest of the soldiers in two trenches. Prepare the fires. Let's fight for Angmar. If we win this, then we're going to swap the armies of Ettenmoors with those of Angmar; we'll bring them here and we move to the High Pass. And we'll crush those orcs on two sides. But only if we win this ... Go, make the preparations. "

The other troll was still on the ground, after the earlier slap. After Torogok spoke the last phrase, the other troll rose up and said "It shall be done", while still visibly shaken by the experience.

He didn't even move three steps away when Torogok stopped him.

"Wait."

A few more moments passed by.

"Not right now. We still have dwarf-guests ... they've spied enough. I'll quickly dispatch them off, and then we'll make the due preparations.".

Torogok turned around and started to slowly move towards the throne room, where the dwaves expected him to be back.

- in Angmar, back in the throne room -

Torogok: "I'm back. Affairs of the realm that needed to be taken care of.

Ah, yes. Returning to what you said. You do you, we do us. Pretty much sums up what I also believe in. I have nothing against you. And, apparently, you have nothing against me. You know what, I'll believe you.

in so much that I'm going to personally give you one of my best armed guards to escort you towards the border of Angmar, so that you arrive safely back to your king."

"Tell him that, to show our commitment, we propose a non aggression pact of five clicks, more than the norm. It's the least we can do. We wouldn't expect anything less from your king, either. And maybe this is the beginning of something anew between us. I am not against it."

Torogok then called his armed guards to escort the dwarves towards the border, as proposed.

THE TALK FROM THE OLD UPDATE... :

.

Druwaith Folk (message 1 of 2):

The Dru folk somewhat resemble dwarves in stature, with their short thick legs, fat arms, fat bellies and heavy buttocks. The main difference between the Dru folk and the dwarves was their long, wide and expresionless face, flat noses, curly hair and big black eyes that glowed red when angered or threathened.

So when the stumpy and fat Dru folk of the Noman-lands heard about a dwarf army at the border between the Mirkwood Forest and the edge of the Brown Lands, their eyes immediately turned red and many went in hiding. The few that were brave enough went on towards Garahir's army that was nearby, as Garahir just recently arrived with his tribesmen and secured the Brown Lands. After informing Garahir, a stand-still between the Dru folk and the dwarves of The Woodland Enclave ensued.

There was visible tension in the air, after the refusal from the Druwaith Folk to let the dwarves cross into the Foothills on their quest towards Redhorn Gate.
Afraid for his realm, Garahir turned around and inquired about other factions that can guarantee his realm's safety. Thus, he sent a message to the humans of Rohan, of the Coldvar Empire and of the Variag Order, as well as to the orcs of the Broken Tooth Tribe.

To the humans of Rohan:
"King Theoden, due to your benevolent nature the Dru folk have risen and are now strong. However, we fear for our lands and we ask of assistance. Please reply."

To the humans of the Empire of Coldvar:
"Humans of Anfalas, know that the marshes of Ithilien, the Foothills and the devastated regions of Dagorlad and the Brown Lands are all inhabited by the Dru folk. We do not want anything to do with the outside realm, as we like to live in our own world. We will protect your western borders as long as you protect our eastern ones. Please reply."

To the humans of the Variag Order:
"Humans of the South, we've heard of your long history in the deserted lands south of the mountains of Nurn and Gorgoroth. We have a similar story as many of our folk migrated to these lands from Khand and Harondor in the distant past. We're now inhabiting the deserted lands of Brown Lands and Dagorlad and we strive to survive in this land where we can be hidden and have peace. But to have peace we need secure borders. Will you reply?"

One more message, to the orcs of the Broken Tooth Tribe. The eyes of Garahir suddenly turned red. The Dru folk had distrust for all outside races and a deep hatred of orcs. Yes, the Dru folk were both feared and loathed by other Men of the region and they were considered little better than Orcs, and there was much enmity between those peoples. But the history between the Dru folk and Orcs was far darker than the persecutions from Men throughout the years.

Garahir hoped to change the general state of affairs between the Dru folk and the Men races with his recent messages, but a normalization of affairs between the Dru and the Orcs was, maybe, also in order. Selecting one of his guards to send the message to the orcs, Garahid wrote the following:
"To the Broken Tooth Tribe, we know that to the east of our Dagorlad lie your capitol and that to the south of the mountains of Gorgoroth lie your fortresses. And we also know that your armies border our provinces. From all the races, the Orcs are the ones we trust the least. But we want peace with all of the outside world, so we bring a peace offer and non aggression until the end of times."

Etyangoldi Alliance (message 1 of 2):
King Curufinwe received a message from the odd humans of the Druwaith Folk, announcing that the dwarves of The Woodland Enclave were planning to attack the Redhorn Gate. "What an ugly race of creatures, these Dru folk are. At first I thought that they were dwarves as their definitely resemble somes. Was just about to execute them ... " Curufinwe mentioned.

This changed his plans. Knowing that a dwarf retribution might come towards his lands is not very timely, especially now that his Non Aggression Pact with the Empire of Coldvar is to cease and that the Kingdom of Arthedain is still a nuisance. But none of these are urgent. An ally to the west of the Kingdom of Arthedain will definitely deter any incursions into his lands from the humans of Arthedain and the dwarves of the Woodland Enclave were still far away from Redhorn Gate, so the humans of the Empire of Coldvar were, now, the biggest threat. Especially since there were reports of curious movements at the borders between the two factions, some of them concluded with men of the Empire locked up in the Etyangoldi Alliance's cells.

"Why make someone an enemy when you can keep them closer and fight on other fronts?" Curufinwe thought to himself, adding "Send a message to the Empire of Coldvar" to one of most trusted vanguard elves.
"To Nikolai Naves of the Empire of Coldvar,
The Non Aggression Pact between our two realms is to end soon enough. We definitely can say that we both profited from it, and that it proved that we can live in mutal respect of our borders and desires. Personally, I share your expansionism ideals and I propose a union beween us in the form of a confederation of the South, of Etyangoldi Alliance and the Empire of Coldvar. Together we definitely can conquer the East, the West and the North. And, obviously, we will divide equally the spoils of the land."

King Curufinwe's attention turned towards the Trollfolk of Ettenmoors. They proved to be loyal enough. And if an attack from the dwarves is imminent, then a buffer between him and the dwarves is going to be really helpful. Surely, the trolls lack the understanding of these subtle nuances of things, so there's no need to let them know of the full scale of the problem. The following message was for the trolls:
"Torogok of the Trolls,
Your fealty towards the Etyangoldi Alliance in the recent past has not been unnoticed. The Non Aggression-Pact between our two races is soon going to expire, so I am going to extend to you an offer of an official Friendship. It's the best I can do seeing as I already have as ally one elf and, possibly, the humans of the South. We send you this offer as we've had contacts from the east announcing us that dwarves set their axes towards you, so we want to help as you've helped us in the past."

That should have been enough of official enactments if it wasnt for the envoy from Elvea-Falasse asking for updates between, what can it be, between the Kingdom of Arthedain and the Etyangoldi Alliance. As a reply was expected, the following was noted:
"Ally from the west, race of my race and friend,

You've asked about Arthedain. Know that the Kingdom of Arthedain is nothing more than a kingdom in passing in our lifespan. We've seen so many of them that we lost count. Do you not remember, since the old days up to now? Indeed, the ambitions of Men pale when put to the time scale that the Valar bestowed Elves with. Little guilds beneath a chieftain and little chieftains beneath a ruler? Please ... we will deal with them and absorb their lands back into our Alliance. After all, the Valar offered to us the guidance for all other races, under one banner to rule Middle Earth. Thus, the Men of the realm will be better protected against the outside forces if they are part of our Alliance. Our fair, honest Alliance of Men, Elves, even of Orcs! Can you imagine? An alliance of all races? Well.. except the dark shadows coming from the East ... but do not worry of that, as we will keep your borders secure from any threats coming from the East.

Certainly you agree that Arthedain must remain a part of our Alliance."

Kingdom of Arthedain (message 1 of 2):
Amlaith Minyatur received the emissary from the Elvea-Falasse and drafted a reply.
"King Cirdan of the Mithlond and of the Lindon Elves,
Your most recent message put hopes in our souls and hearts. The elves of the Alliance are ruthless conquerors, they act very much so like a crumbling empire ... draining all the resources of the land and conscripting all the souls that could muster weapons into their so-called "Alliance". We have first-hand experiences from the folk of The Shire, for example, that broke-off from the hold of the Etyangoldi and joined our Kingdom.

If not contained, we are unsure what will happen to us ... and, I fear, to the rest of the world. Thus, we will declare war on them, but we have to make sure that you understand our intentions and agree to our plea."

The Variag Order:
Ulwarth plans for uniting the nomads of Khand, Sutherland and Harondor are complete. Now its time for expansion. But before any of this, there was the matter of the non aggression pact with the Empire of Coldvar. It's soon expiring. Ulwarth liked how things were in the past in his relationship with the Empire, and so things can continue.

"Send a new Non-Aggression pact request to the Empire of Coldvar. Tell them that we respect their desires, and we will turn our attention to things in our part of the world, they to things in their part of the world, and that our borders are safe."

"Now, as that matter is taken care of, try and contact the Corsairs of the Great Sea. Tell them that there's enough riches in Middle Earth and that, if they'd like, they can dock in Harondor and dig up some of the treasures awaiting them. Also that we are in search for more able men as we're attacking the fortresses of Mordor at the plateau of Gorgoroth and in the plains Nurn. The lands are inhabited by a cunning race of orcs, but nothing the corsairs have not encountered on the seas."

The last was a notification to the Broken Tooth Tribe orcs of the new status quo between the two factions; does not matter if this emissary gets lost in the orc's lands, like the ones that were sent before; the thought has to count.
With that in mind, the preparations for the armies are put in motion. They'll attack Nurn with all the mercenaries Ulwarth has mustered in such a short time. The small detachment still present on the mountain gap at the entrance to Nurn was to report of any enemy movements.

The Woodland Enclave (message 1 of 2):
Queen Barazturg did not like, at all, the message from the Druwaith Folk. Redhorn Gate was to be reclaimed. With so much passion, she personally and her army in Southern Mirkwod will clear the way for the attack. The Dru folk might mind, but it is for the greater dwarf glory. The dwarves of Middle Earth are neither weak nor to be toyed with.

----
Attack with 500 soldiers from Southern Mirkwood the province of Foothills, without declaring the Druwaith Folk as enemies

.

Trollshaw Realm (message 1 of 5):

While stationed in Angmar, Torogok received the message from the King Curufinwe of the Etyangoldi Alliance and leered over it. "Fealty?", Torogok put emphasis on this word. "Heh, the trolls of Trollshaw have no fealty for the Etyangoldi Alliance, they're merely a convenience. Especially now that we're in bad terms with the Orcs of Gundabad and with the dwarves of the Woodland Enclave. So we'll agree with their friendship request, even if we do not agree with their terms. For now it's more important to keep our borders to the South secured.".
Torogok called one emissary from the newer batch of human emissaries. You could tell that they represent the function by the fact that they do not have weaponsn but still have all their limbs attached.
"So tell them that we agree. And you better come back again with their answer. Don't you dare run away ..." Torogok said to the emissary.

In the mean time, news of dwarf-hunters from the West, from the dwarf lands of Forochel, reached the ear of Torogok. They were definitely trying to spy on their forces camped in Angmar. Knowing well of the war declaration of the dwarves of the Woodland Enclave, Torogok expected that this war party was sent exactly to check the state of affairs and strength of his armies. Nonetheless, this was the first interaction between Clan Frostbeard and the Trollshaws, and Torogok was big but not that stupid. There was no official stance from Clan Frostbeard, so he'll not assume that they are enemies just because they're dwarves. Although its tempting, there's enough trouble on the eastern borders ... and to create trouble on the west is ... careless, at best. Torogok did not advance so much just to be crushed by his ego.

Thus, an attack party was to be send to try to capture and not to kill the dwarf-hunters encroaching into his lands. Torogok stressed on this. The dwarves are to be captured, not killed. If the dwarves surrender they will be interrogated and asked about their leader whereabouts and plans. If they refuse to surrender then they will be treated accordingly. And if they have anything interesting to say, they'll be escorted directly to Torogok.

And, finally, in order to secure all the border provinces against the Orcs of Gundabad, a redistribution of forces was necessary. It was decided to bring in 860 slave-soldiers freshly trained in Ettenmoors towards the fortress of Angmar and to station them there.
----
Send 860 soldiers from Ettenmoors towards Angmar
Send an armed party to meet the dwarf-hunter party that was sent by the Clan Frostbeard. The Clan Frostbeard decides if the dwarves surrender and talk with Torogok (if they surrender they will meet Torogok in person) or if they do not surrender and either die or flee in the fight

.
Clan Frostbeard (message 1 of 5):

As they reached their destination and made a fire, the hunters could hear a clanking sound behind them.

"If ye think those are trolls, remain calm and slowly back away", said the old hunter.

"What do you mean? Its goin down?", asked the other one while grabbing his axe.

"I don't know, lad... just be on guard, aye? If ye're brave enough, or foolish enough, to fight a troll without usin' a shield, then ye'd better be an expert fighter...", replied the old dwarf.

They didn't have to turn around to see if the trolls were coming. The sound of galloping stomping and the crash of trees giving way was very clear over the whistling wind.

With an explosive cracking sound of the nearby trees, They were suddenly surrounded by trolls clad in dark armor, vambraces, helmets, and wielding hughs swords and maces.

"Lay down yer axe lad", said the old dwarf. The axe wielder stopped swinging his feet and laid down his weapon.

Directing his voice to the nearest troll and raising his arms, the old dwaf said: "We are Dwarves from the Clan Frostbeard, we do not come to harm ye. By order of Dralvik II son and heir of Drolvuk Frozenhelm, sovereign king of the Clan Frostbeard and ruler of Khazâd-gund... we would like to speak with yer Warchief."

The trolls stood silence looking at the hunters. Nothing but silence, they just opened their formation and whom it seem to be the leader said: "Follow along..."

"King Alexius Comnenus,

.
Trollshaw Realms (message 2 of 5):
In Angmar, the troll-detachment sent by Torogok to capture the dwarves just returned to the warchief with them. No harm done, as instructed. It was a bit difficult to convince the dwarves that the hoods over their heads were placed as not to leak any information en route, but no notable incident happened along the way. The dwarves have been quite obedient.

Care was still given at the meeting, as the dwarves could be cunning assassins, disguising as mere footsoldiers just wanting a meeting with their leader. A thoroughout body search ensued, as well as a temporary confiscation of any lethal instruments found in the dwarves possession.

After all was done, the meeting could proceed. The place was the throne room of the newly conquered fortress of Angmar. Torogok laid down, quite amusingly, on the too-small-for-a-troll throne ... or what was left of it, after it got hit and bashed into the ground; the remaining stone foundation proved to be a more suitable throne for the warchief. After a brief moment, when both parties analyzed the other, Torogok initiated the talks:

"Salutations, dwarves of the Clan Frostbeard, and welcome to the Trollshaw Realm.
I know that your treks into our realms were not unfruitful and that your expedition's goal is to learn more about us. This, I think, is a good occasion for you to get more info and for me to suit up and measure your race's worth."

Torogok continued, "I admit, when I was younger I had some dealings with dwarves. Not my days of glory as I was mere a slave of a warlord, as I am now the warlord for other slaves. Even if I killed many a dwarf of the East, now my hands ask for the blood of those that crossed me. So, even since my escape and rout towards the Ettenmoors I brew plans to rise up against these Kings and give them as good as I received. I think that I did decent ..."

Torogok paused for a bit.

"You see, we trolls don't actually care for war. We stay in our swamps, content with our simple life. We eat some flesh here and there, but only of animals or of those that cross our realms; we don't go hunting past our borders. And, then, we have orcs. Trolls and orcs fought alongside many a time, but only if having been coerced by the situation, by a warlord or by slavery itself. I have as much enmity for the orcs as I do for the human warlords of Angmar that took us trolls from the Ettenmoors for all those times of the past. I don't have any hostility towards the dwarves ... but that might change soon enough."

Torogok then threw some maps on the ground in front of the dwarves. They were maps of the realm east and south-east of Angmar. On the maps, clearly, there was a section circled with red, somewhere past the realms of Anduin, in the forests of Mirkwood.

Torogok waits for an answer from the dwarf delegation of Clan Frostbeard, to continue the talks.

We will send you a delegation of healers, loremasters, and educators along with the first shipments of medicine and food. Future arrangements over goods that can be traded for cultural and economic benefits can be made at your convenience.
May providence and good fortune find you,

To The Frostbeard Clan
Greetings King Dralvik! I'd like to apologize for the lack of communication from Elvea-Falasse since we last met in your lands. We have been busy dealing with are easterly neighbors. Are fellow elves in the Etyangoldi Alliance have been accused of slavery and warmongering by a human nation of the Dunedain and Hobbits of central Eriador. So far these claims have carried weight but haven't be confirmed yet. I look forward to the day when The Black Enemy is destroyed and all will dwell together in Arda Unmarred. I wanted to thanks you again for

Respectfully yours,
Cirdan

.
The Empire of Coldvar:

Emperor Nikolai looks out over the Bay of Belfalas. He is in deep thought about the growing tensions in Middle Earth.

He turns as a messenger runs to him.
"Sir, a message."

The Emperor takes the scroll and dismisses the man. He reads through it. The Emperor walks back to his command tent. In the tent sits General Elkins.

"General, I just recently received a message from the Etyangoldi Alliance. They ask us to form a Confederation with them. What do you think?"

"The final decision is up to you. But, lets just say that we do form this Confederacy. We gain an ally, but we may anger many more. You want to expand the Empire, but if we anger everyone in Middle Earth, before we have the ability to defend ourselves."

"Very true. If we wait we may get another chance at an alliance, but now is not the right time."

Emperor Nikolai sits at his desk and begins to write a message back to the Etyangoldi Alliance.
"To the Etyangoldi Alliance,
The Empire of Coldvar will not join in this Confederacy. Yes, we both did profit off of the initial non-aggression pact. That is why I propose another pact.

Emperor Nikolai"

He rolls up the scroll just as another messenger walks in. The young boy puts the message on the desk and then runs out of the tent.

"You should be more kind Nikolai."

"Shut up General."

The Emperor reads the message.
"Hmm, another non-aggression pact."

He quickly writes another message to the Druwaith Folk.

Elvea Falasse (message 2 of 2):

They say that the elves age through their eyes; in the eyes of Cirdan could be seen the memories that both poisoned the past and taught of the future. But what ought we must do in the present? For this was the question acrossed all of Elvea-Falasse. The messengers rode hard and fast to bring news of the east, and a council was called in the Grey Havens to plan how to play the Lindon elves' hand. Representatives and esteemed men and elves from everywhere gathered, amongst their number was Magolhir the Captain of the Armed Host, Alphrovon the Navigator, Gwilwilether Captain of the Rangers, and the Lady Gannoriel. Before the devising of their plan Cirdan did beseech and call upon the Valar and Maiar, and even to Eru Iluvatar Himself. Hear now the prayer of Cirdan...

"In times when the Deceiver yet walked amongst Arda, the Firstborn did commit great evils unto themselves. From the east coast of Aman, to the Havens of Sirion. Also haughty at times were we, to treat fellow Children of Iluvatar as game to hunt or mortals to stroke our own arrogance. But hear now my plea if it pleases you, oh Lords of the West, and Almighty One. For we look to the stars of Varda for a sign, and to Her ears will do call. To the seas our ships do entreat an audience with Ulmo. And on every watchtower we look to Manwe and the Holy Mountain for his word and his eagles. And to Eru what can we do? What action is great enough to seek out Him. I humbly ask, what shall we do?"

To King Minyatur, the Hobbits, and Dunedain
I have prayed to Eru and the Western Lords, I await their reply. In the meantime know that we will not attack either you or our elf kin at this moment, and I ask of you to postpone you attack until we have gathered further information and have a reply from the West. I also ask if our rangers may pass through your territory into the Etyangoldi Alliance to gather information on the doing of King Curufinwe and his land discreetly. Also Magolhir, the Captain of the Armed Host, stands ready to defend your territory from a potential attack from King Curufinwe, if so may he advance into your realm to defend at a place of your need. Myself and a fellow elf named Gannoriel will be seeking an audience with King Curufinwe, we may end up inviting you as well.
I again implore you to postpone your attack until we hear from the West and have all the information we need,
Respectfully yours,
Cirdan

To King Curufinwe and his Alliance
Your reply my King, to be frank, is troubling. You well know that Middle Earth belongs to no race, and that to invade sovereign peoples under a just rule is wrong. If the free peoples of Middle Earth cannot unite to stand against evil, then what perhaps is the point of fighting against evil? All are gathered in Mando's Halls. I ask that you recieve myself personally, the wise Gannoriel, and several others from Elvea-Falasse in a your capital to negotiate and discuss all that is occuring. If proper I'd like to invite King Minyatur. In the meantime please cease any sort of arms against the innocent.
Hopefully we will see each other soon,
Respectfully yours,
Cirdan

Trollshaw Realms (message 3 of 5):

"West of Angmar?" Torogok replied, visibly surprised by the question.

"You see that circle? On the map?" Torogok rose his hand and pointed with his huge fingers in the air in front of him, towards the map. "We received death threats from there. The dwarves of Mirkwood, my scouts inform me. And I know very well that where there's a dwarf, there's many a dwarves. You dwarves stand united like orcs grow like shrooms. So if there's a dwarf wanting my head, there's at least one other dwarf nearby, also wanting my head."

Torogok's tone increased.

"And what's this talk of mines? Of iron? Of what's under the land? Do you look at us and think that we're miners, now? Look around, lad. There's no pickaxe here. For us, the only way of going underground is once we're dead and buried. I care the least of mines, of iron or of other precious resources of under the ground. We attacked the Rhudaur folk to conquer their castles; We attacked Angmar's fortress. We plan to attack Gundabad as well. The fortress, not some mines under the ground!"

Torogok was visibly frustrated.

Etyangoldi Alliance (message 2 of 2):

Things have not unfolded as to Curufinwe's plans for quite some while. Troublesome. Suddenly, the Southern borders were not as secure. There was a dwarf threat from the East and, in the West, his elf-ally wasn't acting like an ally. At least the trolls agree to a Friendship ... And as for the Empire of Coldvar, Curufinwe agreed to an extension of the non-aggression.

Not all was black, however; Curufinwe's quest to the Redhorn Gate reaps success, as a small elite force of elves salute him. They are carrying some sort of swords that glow in a dark blue shade, and not just only in sunlight; the light appears to shine outwards from within in a curious, bizzare, play on lights. Their armor looks to be different, as well; it is lighter than steel but definitely more times stronger.

Curufinwe sent them towards the Northern Cardolan, with a plan only he, and those he confided in, appear to know of.

The rest of his army camped in Hollin is to march on to Minhiriath. He once had plans to mark and delimitate the lands between the two elf-lands ... oh, how those plans flew by. But Minhiriath was still to be his. "And we'll see afterwards..." Curufinwe thought to himself.

Coerced by the situation, Curufinwe also agreed to meet a delegation from Elvea-Falasse. The king thought to himself that, under the guise of a party and sweet words, some other interesting things could happen, elsewhere. And when its all too late, Curufinwe thought to himself that others will see things his way. His glorious way.
"King of Elvea-Falasse,

We will agree to those terms, to honor you and to honor our friendship. Right now we are busy in Minhiriath - I won't bore you of the details, sic - but after we can make room and plans to meet your delegation in Cardolan. The humans of Arthedain are, usually, not welcomed, but we will make an exception this time for you. Thus, also invite the Human King. Let it be known that I will discuss only with him and with no-one else from his lands."

"Two birds, one stone ... " Curufinwe thought to himself, and sent the message.

Clan Frostbeard (message 3 of 5):

Winds and snow from the blizzard had been lashing the entire Ice bay for several days. The docks were not only washed out but buried in snow and debris.

Dralvik II was looking at the wind through a window of is hall built in the glacier mountain surrounded by his Steward and Auxitius.

"By my Father's Beard! Damn blizzard!, now our supplies of bronze-scaled whale fat are cut out...", Dralvik continued: “I wouldn't send my worst enemy to sail in this storm… I still cannot bear to know what happened to the hunters we sent to Angmar. Any news Frulvik? Who did you send?"

Frulvik replied: “An old acquaintance of your father, Dolim and his nephew... but I'm afraid that we did received word yet, my lord”. The Steward raised a finger and said: “but we have received several messages from our friends and allies, my lord. Let me see…”, Frulvik pulled out a bunch of scrolls from a metal box and handled them to Dralvik.

Dralvik read the scrolls one by one.

Frulvik continued: “There were also several reports of Men scouting the southern borders of our kingdom. We don't know their intentions, but we know that they have something to do with Etyangoldi Alliance as King Cirdan express in the message”.

Dralvik took his eyes off his reading for a moment, and said: "We don't know if they also want to expand to the West and take the forges of the Blue Mountains, do we?... I will not allow them to enslave any dwarf for their purposes! Send a message to their leader tell him that we do mean no harm to the people, just stay away from our business.”

“Will do, my lord”, Frulvik replied and then proceed: “What about our friend, Queen Barazturg and her plans to attack Redhorn Gate?”

“Let her know that she have our full support, and we currently have delegates on troll ground. Hopefully they won't suffer the same fate as hers at Redhorn gate. Tell her we will keep her update, as the north is uneasy at he moment and we must prepare the infrastructure for a possible war. We will aid the forges and mines of the Blue Mountain, and then we will provide her with as much equipment and machinery as we can for her goal”

“Very well, My Lord. Anything else”, Frulvik said.

Dralvik: “Yes send this message to Lord Cirdan, and send word to Baldur to double the defenses that would be all… thank you.”

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////
//////// To King Cirdan Shipwright of Elvea-Falasse
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Honorable King Cirdan,

I like to hear that Bizârul is to your liking. Take good care of it since it is treasured by my kin.

But the reason for this message is covered by a gray veil. I have received reports from the East, informing that the trolls of Trollshaw realm have been responsible for the death of a delegation of dwarves of my friendly realm The Woodland Enclave, in the Redhorn Gate.

I am afraid that the trolls are also scouting the eastern borders of my realm, so we are preparing for a possible war. The men who occupy Western Arthedain also bring me no rest to my mind, since I do not know what their intentions are, but I will not allow them to take the dwarves of the Blue Mountains by force and seize their forges and resources; if they decide to continue expanding through these lands.

So I would like to let you know that I will assist the citizens of the Blue Mountains in any way, and against any threat they may have there, in exchange for mutual aid. We will prepare the mines -a risky task for anyone- and build a trading post from their docks. The dwarves in that area already know me and trade with my people.

Honoring our friendship and alliance agreement, I inform you that I will not march on any elven soil as we agreed in "The Treaty of Emyn Uial", your fellow citizens can be safe and calm because the north welcomes them with open arms. This action and the build of a trading company in the shores of the Blue Mountains will refine trade routes between our kingdoms.

I hope that, when the time comes, and if my readings are correct, we can help each other against the looming threats.

As for your representative Angbor and his family, if any, they can stay in Khazâd-gund. I will make the necessary arrangements for a suitable stay in this frozen land, I will order the construction of a winter garden so that he does not miss his land.

May the winds from the west bring you to good judgment and unite our people,

Dralvik II

"I mean west of the Lonely Mountain, Warchief, as ye said exactly the Mirkwood forest. We dwarves guide ourselves accordin' to the mountains and the stars, I admit it can be a bit confusin' ... I apologize for that", the old hunter replied, surprised by the mistake of Torogok.

The old dwarf continued: "But sometimes our tongues cheat on our true thoughts and reveal them. For example, as a veteran dwarf I like to think about the value of the land, that's why I mentioned the black iron mines or that your people really want to crush the dwarves of Mirkwood, I do not respond for those dwarves and their actions we are not the same kin... But you mentioned the West of Angmar my lord, there lies my home... Forochel, What are your intentionts there? "

The Defender's Fjord

Trollshaw Realms (message 5 of 5):

The Empire of Coldvar:

Emperor Nikolai sits in a chair, in the far corner of the Command tent. He is reading a book called, "Rođen od magije". An old book from a different age. The author is unknown.

He has been reading the book for weeks. Trying to learn as much as he could.

Nikolai hears a knock on the wooden pole out front. He quickly stands and walks toward his desk. He presses his hand on the book, and watches as it slowly fades. He opens a draw and drops it in.

"Who is it?"

"Elkins."

"Come in."

The General strides in. "Sir, you have a visitor."

"Who is it?"

"You might want to come look."

Emperor Nikolai's eyes narrow. He walks toward his armor and picks up his sword in it's sheath. He straps it around his back.

"Lead the way."

General Elkins leads Nikolai towards the outskirts of the camp. Where two soldiers stand with their arms crossed. Sitting on the ground next to them are two orcs.

Elkins addresses the Orcs. "This is the Emperor."

The Orcs scramble to stand. One of the orcs nods and reaches into his clothes. The two soldiers unsheathe their swords. The orc stops, looks at the soldiers, and then continues.

He produces a scroll, and slowly hands it to Nikolai. Nikolai reads the scroll. When he reaches the bottom of the message.

He pauses. In a flash, he grasps his sword and brings it in an arc at one of the orcs heads. He halts the blade about an inch from the orcs skull.

The orc flinches and stumbles to the ground. Emperor Nikolai stands over the fallen orc and presses his sword into it's throat.

The Emperor's head flicks up, "General, bring some chains and more soldiers. We have a prisoner."

"Yes, sir." General Elkins addresses the two men standing near. The two soldiers run to do as the Emperor requested.

They return and quickly take the orc to a holding cell outside the camp.

"General, we are being asked by the Broken Tooth Tribe for a Treaty of Friendship. An Orc asking for friendship? That's a new one."

"Emperor, we live in strange times. War has broken out all over Middle Earth. Allies are very hard to come by. Especially, because we are human. Well, "Human" or whatever we are."

"Are you saying that I should accept this treaty?"

"That is up to you. I'm just saying we have many Non-aggression pacts and no alliances. Would agreeing to this be that bad?"

"No. I suppose not. General fetch me something to write with and some paper."

"Right away sir."

Nikolai turns to the remaining Orc. Who is just standing there looking a bit confused. Emperor Nikolai looks the creature up and down.

"What do you think of your leader?"

The Orc just nods his head very enthusiastically. Nikolai rubs his hand through his short hair.
The General returns and hands the Emperor the materials.

"To the Broken Tooth Tribe,

The Empire of Coldvar accepts your treaty."

He rolls up the short message and hands it to the orc. The orc takes it and puts it in his clothes. The orc turns and wanders away from the camp.

"General, I feel like I will live to either regret this decision, or I will accept this decision. We have other matters to attend to."

General Elkins and Emperor Nikolai turn and walk back into the camp.

Clan Frostbeard:

The reopening of the mines in the Blue Mountains soon echoed and many of the wandering dwarves from the north joined Dralvik in their halls and signed up for mining and construction jobs. But not everything was cause for celebration as tunnels three and seven had collapsed, causing extensive damage and loss.

"Do you have any clues of what may have happened foreman?, we need to know what went wrong in order to communicate it to the families", Dralvik II said while looking at a list of names: "This was not supposed to happened..."

The foreman, while looking at the tunnels entrance, replied: "Well, you've had me working down here for days now my lord. It's not the time that's getting to me though, it's your workers… I've told them countless times to add extra supports to the weak sections of the tunnels but they just replied “that’s not the way we mine in Forochel”... well, this is not Forochel, and look at the result… One cannot rush this things my lord if only we had more of those beams with iron bottoms we might be able to dig deeper, quicker and safer”.

"You will have your beams, I don't want to lost any dwarven life, regardless they are from Forochel or the Blue Mouintains... please do teach them your ways of mining and if they have anything against it, please let the Lieutenant know about it..." Dralvik said as he pointed to an armed dwarf from head to toe clad in an iron armor with red garments and a crested helmet.

The foreman smiled, and said enthusiastically: "Will do!, thank you King Dralvik".

The dwarf king nodded, and signed the list. He left the foreman and the lieutenant in the mine entrance, in order to meet a group of nobles gathered in the main halls.

Addressed to the entire court as he walked in the main hall, Dralvik II said: "Greetings..."- the court responded to the salute- "Do we have any news from the East?”

A bright red hair dwarf took step forward and bow, then while adjusting his purple garment said: "I am afraid that we do not have any word from the East, my lord... just rumors. Some divisions located in Emyn Uial have reported an armed patrol of trolls escorting two dwarves near the border of Angmar... we do not know anything more about that matter for now, my lord".

"That worries me my lords... for the moment, there is no need to jump to conclusions but just in case, make the forges and the armories double their production…”, Dralvik made a pause while frowning: “Do we have a response of the Men of the south?".

"Yet again, I am afraid that we do not have any response to the message send to the Kingdom of Arthedain...", said the dwarf in purple garment.

"By my father's beard! A war is about to break out in these lands, I can feel it... And we haven't heard any news!", Dralvik cried out. Then the king looked at the excessive ration reflected in the eyes of the court: “My apologies my lords... I... today I have lost good dwarves in the tunnels, and it is not an easy task to bear the weight of the crown. I blame myself for it, for the loss of those miners and the acceleration of the excavations...”

“We know my king, that you seek the best for your people. If it's any consolation, or at least cheers you up ... the trading post on the docks is ready to start trading with the ports of Lindon. The boats will set sail this afternoon with some of the best crafts and minerals, surely the elves there will receive them with great expectation”, said the dwarf in purple garment.

“... That seems great to me, thanks Nrulvim”, Dralvik II said will taking his hand off his temple: “that trade route will benefit both the elves and us ... but, but I cannot get out of my head what news the hunters bring from Angmar... I will go to Khazâd-gund with my personal guard, I must go! Nrulvim you will remain in charge here, the rest of the soldiers will report to you. You must report to me and only to me, understood? ”

“Yes my lord Dralvik, it's an honor.”, Nrulvim respond an took a step backwards.

Druwaith Folk:

In Fangorn, king Garahir felt a huge shock when his scouts reported that their path back into the Foothills was cut off by a dwarf army invading it from the North.
Isolated, his army was definitely not enough to push through with an attack and regroup in Dagorlad, and as the humans of Rohan offered no replies to his plea of friendship, moving his army through the lands of Rohan were even more perilous than attacking the dwarves that took the Foothills.

The only thing Garahir could do, for the moment, was to send emissaries towards the Etyangoldi Alliance and let them know of the Dru folk's impediment, and hope that it counts to something. In the message, king Garahir wrote about the sudden surprise attack on Foothills from the dwarves of the Woodland Enclave, the stranded army in Fangorn, and that the dwarves are not to be trusted for acting in such an unprovoked manner.

Gundabad Dwellers:
The orcs of Cvog suffered their first defeat. Absorbing what was left of the hill-folk and orcs of Angmar could prove to be more than was bargained for; An army in the thousands, having more soldiers than were ever mustered together in these times, got pushed back by the troll-defenders of Angmar in one bloody battle that left both sides nearly decimated, but his side taking the heaviest toll of casualties.

And if that was not enough, news of a surprise attack on Upper Anduin by dwarves! Having the lines of communication with the orcs of High Pass cut off also meant that there was little Cvog could do to help them if his enemies advance.

Right now, Cvog's remaining lands are between hammer and anvil, and Cvog has no answer. "At least they can't get Gundabad...", he said, while licking his wounds.

IC

The Variag Order:

When Ulwarth first proposed the plan of starting a war with the Broken Tooth Tribe by capturing Nurn, his inner circle of commanders were definitely against the idea. "Lots of bloodshed is to follow" was the general feeling.

But these thoughts changed after capturing Nurn. The action was definitely more easy than was thought of; may have been because of the ingenious attack plan, may have been due to having those paid scouts at the mountain pass into Nurn, spying on the army movements at the border .. whatever helped, the army of the Variag Order is now into Nurn.

And as new scouting information was scarce, more scouts were dispatched due north and east.

In the mean time, scouts of the North-West, from the lands of Ithilien, arrived to report to Ulwarth. Apparently there are some men that inhabit the lands there and near Rohan. Peaceful men, that, apparently, only care about tending to their lands. "We could use that sort of men at our borders ..." Ulwarth thought to himself.
"So let's try to get them to our side. I'm sure that you can be quite persuasive, Moroduk. Go and talk with them. Offer then a Non Aggression Pact, but inquire about a Friendship. We might need to pass through their lands ..."

IC

Trollshaw Realm:

Torogok was victorious today. A great battle was won against the orcs of Gundabad, although the heavy losses meant that the armies of Trollshaw are seriously lacking in manpower and are easily vulnerable. Even Torogok suffered injuries after that fight ... not life-threathening, but serious enough to having them tended for by a human physician. Troll-medicine isn't as good ... but the Man anatomy is very much different to a Troll one ... and Torogok's injuries do make him more irritable.

"Proper healing and rest for the moment" was the reply from the physician after patching-up one long sword cut on Torogok's left leg. But this also meant that his proposed attack on the orcs of High Pass was to be delayed, if it ever was planned to be. And with the troops from Ettenmoors soon arriving at Angmar, any proper rest implies losing tempo, and losing tempo in a state of war is very dangerous.

"We'll rest in Upper Anduin", Torogok said, then added "when our trollsfolk and slave-soldier of Ettenmoors arrive to Angmar those of us that still are here will move to the fortress of Upper Anduin. There we will rest for a bit ..."

Broken Tooth Tribe

*Word arrived that an attack had come from their southern flank. Humans. Calling themselves 'The Variag'.*

Snicklefritz walloped the messenger over the head with his club. “I thought that tribe of humans was supposed to not be a threat? The exact words that were used were ‘cowardly’ and ‘lazy!

The messenger whined and cringed on the ground. “They was, boss. We saw ‘em with our own eyes, being all lazy and cowardly. Something must have changed down theres with them.”

Snicklefritz fingered the necklace of Dwarf teeth hanging round his neck. “Go get word to the army in the north, and get ‘em back down here, fast as they can move.”

The messenger reached up from the ground with another scroll and offered it to his chieftain, who snatched it up and hastily read the message from the Dwarfs of Defender’s Fjord, demanding an explanation for his most recent northern incursion.

Snicklefritz began to scratch a message on the back of the scroll: Just shoring up our northern flank. Here, in the south, the place is crawling with stinking humans. Can’t spit without hitting one in the eye. Required further resources to combat their swarming tendencies, and the only available were in the lands between our two domains. Rest assured that no further northern expansion will occur.

As the messenger skulked away with this scroll, smarting from the scolding and the wallop, another messenger stepped past him, grinning smugly with the assurance of one who knows they bring their master good news.

The humans of Coldvar accept your treaty of friendship, boss.”

Snicklefritz’s entire demeanor changed and, beaming, he clapped this new messenger on the back. “Good news for a change. You did well. This calls for a drink! Come, you can tell me all about these dark and scary humans over some draught.”

As they sauntered off, this messenger looked over to where the first still stood, watching dumbly, and pointedly stuck out his tongue at his less-fortunate companion, who could do nothing but trudge off to begin his journey north.

Send emissary to King Alexius Comnenus

Move entire army from Dorwinion to Upper Nurn

OOC: If possible, also attack The Variag Order in Nurn from both Upper Nurn and Gorgoroth. But only if it is possible for both armies to attack. Not sure whether an army can move like that and still have an action left to make an attack. Wasn’t able to locate an answer in the FAQ.

King Alexius had recently arrived in Iron Hills to find an Orc awaiting him. The Orce handed him a scroll. The King read it, and his reaction was a mix of elation and anger. He said, "It is great to see the threat was nonexistent. You may go, Orc." The Orc trudged out. "I will tell the men we are turning around and heading back to Upper Anduin. Tell them the threat was nonexistent, and that tomorrow, we take Gundabad!" He says to himself. "Then he calls for his general, Erasmus. "Erasmus, send your fastest riders to recall and intercept the messenger sent to Queen Barazturg, we will pretend this whole incident never happened." The general bows and leaves. After addressing the army, the men are mad they had to march all this way for nothing, but are galvanized by the fact that they will soon meet the Orcs of Gundabad in battle. They set off on the long march back.

Clan Frostbeard:

"There was something unsettling about the corpse near Emyn Uial allright... but i'm affraid to tell ye that Commander Baldur's concerns were right, my lord...", the old dwarf-hunter said and continued after taking a deep breath: "As we expected there are trolls in Angmar, they are under a Warchief name Toroglok, Torogok... one of those troll names... anyway he attacked the humans and orcs of Gundabad, and they don't take prisoners, my lord... We saw the remains... they were literally torn apart, rent limb from limb. Yet they are not mere animals like bears my lord... oh no, they are not... they are coordinate, their leader was capable of planning an full-size attack on a fortress."

"Go on", Dralvik said.

While stroking his beard, the old dwarf-hunter said: "We've found out that they are planning an attack againts the Wooden Enclave, since Torogok recive a death threat from Queen Barazturg for the crime against our kin in Redhorn Gate, the trolls marked Mirkwood as one of their potencial objectives on their maps sir."

"What about their weapons? ", Frulvik asked.

the old hunter said while laughing: "Ha! their weapons were big allright... but We do know, that they don't mine their lands, the Warchief didn't even knew about the Black Iron mines in Angmar. But we couldn't get anything else, since the orcs of Gundabad were attacking back the fortress, a huge army sir... Huge! the land was shaking under our feet. An armored patrol escorted us to the border..."

"Thank you for your services, mister...?", Dralvik II said.

"Dolim, Dolim Thundertongue", replied the old dwarf while smiling.

The monarch dismissed the hunters with the payment agreed and approached his Steward, Frulvik.

"What do you thing Frulvik?, talk to me", Dralvik said while resting his arm on Frulik's shoulder.

"Well sir, it seems that your fears were true, we have an army of trolls at the entrance of our lands ... the gods alone know what these beasts are capable of, strangely the hunters brought this ", The Steward, he took out of his clothes the non-aggression agreement brought by the hunters and gave it to the king.

Dralvik read it.

Frulvik continued: "It seems that they are willing to negotiate with us, that is good, but on the other hand, my lord, you have to do your duty towards the other dwarf kingdoms..."

Dralvik looked at his Steward.

Frulvik said while looking at the window:"My lord, we have the machinery and the armies, we now have the support of the Blue Mountains. We don't know if these trolls will honor their treaty, as they surely betrayed the Angmar orcs, trolls and orcs are always together... furthermore Gundabad is under attack by our allied dwarven-kingdoms and these filthy trolls are meddling in a thriving border union between the dwarf kind. It may even be that the trolls' forces are wounded or that the remaining orcs are severely injured. ", the he paused and looked at Dralvik right in the eyes: "March my lord!, march for your people, march... Dralvik you are ready... Your soldiers support you, your subjects support you, they know that you do the best for your people! Sound the horns of war!"

Dralvik's eyes shone brightly, blinded by Frulvik's words. The king shook his head, went to his throne, and from a chest he took out a beautiful reddish masked-helmet with a dragon-shaped crest decorated in gold and silver. Dralvik admired the helmet for a moment and putting it on his head he said:
"Alert the dwarf-kingdoms, tell them about the trolls' plans, tell them that they are at war with the Gundabad orcs and that they are seeking the queen's head... But more importantly, let them know that The Clan Frostbeard is on the march!"

With an evil smile Frulvik replied: "right away my Lord", an he threw the parchment it at the nearest bonfire.

The dwarf replied, "I bring terrible news, O Great King, the trolls of Trollshaw have attacked Angmar and taken it from the Orcs of Gundabad. They intend to conquer Gundabad, then attack you and Queen Barazturg, hoping to gain Upper Anduin, and kill her for threatening them after they took Redhorn Gate. Dralvik wishes you to know that he is on the move to take Angmar." The King sat there and thought for a moment, unmoving. "Tell your King that we will stay here, and if the trolls do attack us, we will repel them with all our dwarven might!" The dwarf bows and leaves. The King calls for his best general, and tells him, "Erasmus, prepare defensive positions around our base here, and dig in. We are expecting a force of trolls to attack soon." "Trolls, my Lord?" Erasmus asks. "Yes. Trolls." The King replies.

The Empire of Coldvar:

Emperor Nikolai sits at his desk reading reports from scouts in other provinces. He is writing reports for his ministers back at the capital.

"Hello, sir." General Elkins slips through the tent flaps.

"Hello, General. How are the men?"

The General sits in a chair in front of the Emperor's desk.
"They are well rested, but some of them are already restless for some battles."

The Emperor still sifting through papers, "Well, we have no reason to attack anyone at this moment, but we have reinforcements in the capital. I'll send some to the north. There is a lot of action on that border."

"That should keep them in good health. Speaking of which I noticed you really digging through the reports from the capital. Why is that?"

Emperor Nikolai freezes and looks the General dead in the eye's. "General, keep watch of that tongue of yours."

"I'm just saying. I wonder how Aldira is doing being cooped up in the capital? She must really want to escape."

"Aldira is probably fine. Also, she will not be going anyway. I told her to stay in the capital. She will listen."

General Elkins covers his mouth, "When did you start ordering her around? Last time I checked you are about 260 lbs and she is 4 tons."

"Well, she listens well enough for a dragon. I did raise her from when she was an egg. I have some authority on her."

"I'm sure. The only reason she stayed in the capital is because she injured her wing, but that was a while ago. She will be leaving the capital."

The Emperor stands and hand the General a scroll, "Find a messenger and give that to him. There orders for the reinforcements to move north."

"Yes, sir. Aldira is like you, sir. Stubborn as a horse."

"Your lucky General, that I promised your father I would not kill you. Dismissed Elkins."

THE TALK FROM THE OLD UPDATE... :

.

The Empire of Coldvar (message 1 of 2):

Clan Frostbeard (message 1 of 2):

Druwaith Folk (message 1 of 2):

In the message, king Garahir wrote about the sudden surprise attack on Foothills from the dwarves of the Woodland Enclave, the stranded army in Fangorn, and that the dwarves are not to be trusted for acting in such an unprovoked manner.

.

"At least they can't get Gundabad...", he said, while licking his wounds.

.

The Variag Order (message 1 of 2):

Scouts are dispatched North into Gorgoroth and East into Upper Nurn

.

Trollshaw Realm (message 1 of 2):

"We'll rest in Upper Rhudaur", Torogok said, then added "when our trollsfolk and slave-soldier of Ettenmoors arrive to Angmar those of us that still are here will move to the fortress of Upper Anduin.

The Defender's Fjord (message 2 of 3):

Clan Frostbeard (message 2 of 2):

Trollshaw Realm (message 2 of 2) (secret message):
Torogok's actual plan was to move his army from Angmar to the High Pass, now that the High Pass was cut off from Gundabad Dweller's reach. He know that there were still some spies around inquiring on his army movements so his movement from Angmar to Upper Rhudaun was a bait. The actual army is not to stop marching until the High Pass, where they'll attack and, eventually, win the pass from whatever orcs still reside there.

Etyangoldi Alliance (secret message):
The peace talks between the elves of Elvea-Falasse, the Etyangoldi Alliance and the humans of the Kingdom of Arthedain, and the trap for the human king had to wait as news from the eastern front, from the Dru humans arrived; apparently the dwarves of the Woodland Realm actually conquered Foothills and are most likely marching towards the Redhorn Gate.
"They're in for a big surprise", Curufinwe thought to himself. "Those dwarves are no match to the elite forces of the Etyangoldi Alliance! Our disciplined men can force march to the Redhorn Gate and reinforce the pass, long before those bearded fellow set foot in the province!"

"It's the perfect time to strike, while their forces are scattered elsewhere ...", Minyatur's counsel proposed, and Minyatur was very inclined to agree: "It's tempting, but we put our word on the line to the elves of the Elvea-Falasse. We stay as we are."

"My lord, the folk of the Shire are one inch away from open rebellion. If we don't do any active action now we will lose their support by the following days!", the counsel pressed on.

"Oh so this is how it is? Then take all the forces and lets move on Numeriador! The humans there definitely will align with our goals and ideals, and we'll please those of The Shire in the process..."

The Woodland Enclave (secret message):
The dwarves were ready to attack the Redhorn Gate. The men working in the mines definitely wore Trollshaw clothings, although the guards appeared to be ... elves. Quite a curious turn of events, but the time was now to strike as their allies from the east, the Defender's Fjord, are marching west to unite with Clan Forochel dwarves and may need the Woodland Enclave's support.

"After capturing Redhorn Gate we'll turn our attention North and march our armies on Trollshaw realms, towards a meeting with our brothers of Clan Frostbeard."

NPC talk and decisions of this update:
.

Druwaith Folk:
After the capture of Foothills by the dwarves of the Woodland Enclave, Garahir and his forces were still isolated in the forests of Fangorn. They did manage to send news to the Dru camped at Ithilien to march onwards and camp near the Woodland Enclave borders, in Dagorlad. Their combined armies would be enough to recapture Foothills from the dwarves, especially if the elves of the Etyangoldi Alliance come to their aid in the ensuing battle.

For the moment, before making any concrete battle plans, an alliance request was to be sent to the elves of Etyangoldi Alliance; after all, they were tipped off on the Dwarf attacks ...
----
Send an alliance request to the Etyangoldi Alliance as to double attack on Foothills

.

Etyangoldi Alliance:
The valiant defense at Redhorn Gate, against the dwarves of Woodland Enclave, further fueled Curufinwe's rhetoric against the puny dwarves and their weak forces. With what is continuously mined in the mountains, in a short span of time most of Etyangoldi's forces will be equipped with top tier weapons and armor. The province is of strategic importance ...

The winds of change sweep Middle Earth ... dwarves fight against humans and elves, while orcs and trolls are allies of humans and elves ...

"Send a message to our allies, the elves of Elvea-Falasse;

King Cirdan of Lindon,

We still await to hear of your preparations for the triple meeting, between us, you and the humans of Arthedain. We ceased all hostilities with them, as to your request.

But dark news come from the north and from the east ... My fears are coming to materialize, friend.

The dwarves of after the mountains, of the woods of Mirkwood, attacked the Redhorn Gate, a part of our realm. Many brave soldiers fought defending the province against the invaders, and we successfully did so.

In the same time, the dwarves of the North attacked our friends province of Angmar, of the trolls of Trollshaw Realm.

You, my friend, are allied with these dwarves; their allies and friends attacked my provinces and they attacked my allies and friends!

Where do your loyalties lie in these dark times? With us, that respected your word and agreed to sheath our swords in front of the Kingdom of Arthedain? Or with your dwarf friends that try to chip off my lands and my friends lands?

Honestly I tell to you that I would come to your aid without hesitation if you ask that of us. But now we ask of you, will you help curb the pain and suffering of our people? And of our friends?"

----
Send the above message to the elves of Elvea-Falasse, to renounce their alliance with the Dwarves of Clan Frostbeard and declare them as enemies until relations get normalized again

.

Gundabad Dwellers:

----
Nothing for the moment

.

Kingdom of Arthedain:
Messengers from the dwarf factions of the icy plateaus of Forochel finally met with the King. Apparently they were on the march trying to find the king, while the king was moving from province to province, either to calm the populations of The Shire, to attack Western Arthedain and even now, to attack Numeriador.

Meeting with the dwarf emissaries and listening to their requests, the King of Arthedain, Amlaith Minyatur, replied the following:
"The times are troublesome. We had some differences with the Elves of Etyangoldi Alliance that we nearly acted upon. Now, with the help of the Elves of Elvea-Falasse, which I understand that are your allies, we're forced to put these differences aside; like we're the troublemakers in the bunch.

We do not like that. We do not like being treated as a second hand commodity, just because we're not of the same 'noble' race of elves. Instead of accepting our plea and helping us, your elf allies continue to let the Etyangoldi Alliance commit atrocities upon atrocities. We will accept the idea of a non aggression pact with you and your folk, as we still do not know what the future has in store for the kingdom of Arthedain. We suspect that in the next forseeable future things will be more clear."
----
Accept the non aggression proposal from the Clan Frostbeard

.

The Variag Order:
The Variag Order defeat in Upper Nurn was terrible for the forces of Ulwarth; the first defeat in a campaign with numerous conquers and wins. So resounding was the defeat that it scattered many of the mercenaries that applied for glory and riches under the banners of the Variag Order.

With the army left in disarray, the ruler Ulwarth had but one thing to do; to retreat from Nurn and organize the troops back to the capitol.

"Send an emissary of peace to the Broken Tooth Tribe. Tell them that we'd like to cease these unfortunate hostilities between our two realms."

----
Send a peace request to the orcs of Broken Tooth Tribe
The army in Nurn is to retreat to the capitol

Trollshaw Realm:

Nothing for the moment

GM message

The Empire of Coldvar has a Dragon icon on the map.

The dragon itself does not give any bonuses or has any strength by itself. It is to be treated more as an IC storyline. The dragon can accompany an army and the IC message can be like the dragon attacks, but the strength of the army is still dictated by the number of the forces of the army.

So the dragon that appears on the map is part of an IC story that the Empire of Coldvar is having.

If any other player wants a custom icon feel free to contact me via telegrams and we'll see what we can do.

Or any other ideas!

GM message

As this is not very clear in the FAQ, you can have an unlimited number of provinces. There is a soft-cap on the number of provinces you can have but you are not obliged to stay at the soft cap limit (5 or 7, depending on how many provinces you started with).

If you do, however, go over the limit, some things might happen to your faction or to your provinces. Just like any empire growing too big suffers from order unrest or other stuff, yours will suffer some penalties that range from rebellions in your lands (some lands turning barbarian again, barbarian armies on your lands, getting a black mark on your faction from the mighty forces governing the realm, incentives for other players to attack you etcetera, the list goes on). Its just to keep things dynamic and to have a false sense of balance, or else you overwhelm the others with your big number of provinces that translates into even bigger armies.

So this message is to let everyone know that you can remain at whatever number of provinces you have, you can even stay at the maximum number of provinces but you can also go over that limit. If you do consider to go over the soft-cap limit, nothing crazy is going to happen; but with each province over the limit you will experience that its starting to be harder to contain your provinces / your faction. Will be interesting.

IC

Clan Frostbeard:

The wind blew over the snowy plain, jostling the few trees. A man in rags and dust approached the dwarven army and gave his chieftain's terms for a final warning to Commander Baldur. He was refused and sent back to the trolls. It was to be battle, the battle of Angmar.

So the Dralvik had decreed his open defiance and his soldiers were at war with the trolls. The army was ready, Dralvik aproache to his army while mounting a full armored goat. He ridded across the front of the dwarven army, running his axe along all their spears.

At that moment, the fireballs have started to rained down from Angmar's fortress shaking the ground.

Dralvik looked down to the battlefield as it lights up in fire: “Many times the trolls have moved into territory that was not theirs to occupy! And many times the diplomatic approach had failed because, the trolls cannot be trust!. It had come to this, we cannot let them get away with the unpunished crime against our kin in Redhorn Gate, can't we?!"

The dwarf phalanx bashed their shields.

Dralvik rise his axe and continued: "Arise soldiers of Forochel! Fear not, because Mahal is wathcing us, and his hammer will fall upon the enemy!" -The dwarves roared and cheer -, "The abysm will have many souls by nightfall! They are keen, eager and foolish. We need only let them die before our axes! They have a slight advantage in numbers, but no dwarven-lives can be thrwon away today. We cannot afford such profligacy!..."

Baldur then said: "Soldiers of Emyn Uial! Sons of the Clan Forstbeard! My kin! Hear me out now! The enemy is well trained and dangerous our brave cavalry must wait to do their work until a breach is been open in the enemy defenses. I fought trolls before and now I thirst for revenge. Today we shall slake our thirst. Today is victory day!”, Baldur raised his war hammer in the air and said encouraging: “Let the hammer falls! Let the hammer falls!..."

The dwarves followed the chanting while starting to march toward the fortress.

“When the hammer falls! Back our enemy crawls!
When the hammer quakes! Trollish coward’s bones will break!
When the hammer cracks! And it beats their armies back!
When the hammer’s boom! Send the monsters to their doom!”

The two armies poured like dual streams through the snow, the dwarves lower their spears in readiness, the orcs and trolls lower their pikes in defense. When the armies met a clamor rang out, echoing into the hills. Blood, danced like powder. The high and low battle cries of the rival foes met in harmony as the armies dug into one another's flesh.

Between sunrise and sundown, the battle raged. A foe with an axe rained a series of strokes against Dralvik shield, but every one was deflected until at last the dwarf-king could best the orc warrior. A troll nearly pierced the shield with his first strike, but Dralvik knew how to give with the blow, throwing the troll off balance and leaving his open for Baldur's counterstrike. Finally, the Dwarves reached the fortress. Orc-archers prepared themselves and released their arrows and some goat-riders fall but continue to gallop on. For a long time they battled.

As they fought, circling the remaining troll forces, matching block for blow and blow for block, it became more a game, almost a dance, than a battle of blood. It dawned on Baldur that here at last he was fighting on the throne room.

It was not until the remaining troll missed his own step, striking too soon, throwing himself off balance and was strike down by the dwarves.

"Look sir, the maps!", Baldur said to Dralvik while pointing to the ground. The two rushed to picked them up.

"Finally! attach this orcish sword to the map an deliver it to King Cirdan, let him know that the trolls of Angmar were defeted, and the map is a proof of that the trolls were planning to harm Queen Barazturg and her kin", Dralvik said while heavely breathing. He cleared his throat and continued: "Do the same with this one, send it to Queen Barazturg, let her know that the Clan Frostbeard is at Angmar". Dralvik look down at his right side, he felt a warmish yet uncofortable sense, he was bleeding.

Baldur then asked: "Cousin! Are you alright?"

Dralvik removed his helmet to answer. As he did so, Dralvik saw through the slits of his helmet his own reflection. It was his own close-set eyes, white and blue hair. For a moment he saw his father, he heard someone call a name, similar to his father before he felt the cold stone.

Dralvik fell to the ground. Baldur took him, and gave an order to his soldier to attend the king.

As they took Dralvik out of the throne room, Baldur walked up to Dralvik's helmet and clean the mask, his eyes were glowing in tears.
He said to himself: "You may triumph in the field of battle for a day, but today there is no victory..."

Baldur then looked at a soldier in a grief look and said: "Liutenant, send word to King Alexius, do not mention King Dralvik's state... just let him know that the Frostbeards are in Angmar and we have taken the Fortress... and we will wait further orders in orther to move the armies. Take that troll's spear head and give it to the menssanger, order him to give it to the King... that would be all... I'll talk to the troops in a moment"

"Right away, my lord", the Liutenant responded while noddeing.

----
Send an orcish sword attach to a map to King Cirdan of Elvea-Falasseand, as proof of the trolls plans against Queen Barazturg.
Send an orcish sword attach to a map to Queen Barazturg of the Woodland Enclave, as proof of the trolls plans against her.

The Empire of Coldvar:

"Sir, we must move the soldiers to the north. If we want to claim more land."

Emperor Nikolai sits at his desk as four of his lieutenants surround him and argue about where he should send his troops.

"No, he should send them to the Capital and launch an attack on Minhiriath."

"Are you stupid we should launch an attack on Lebinin. We should not anger any nation. Better to stay safe."

Nikolai has been sitting through their arguments for 2 hours now.

"Silence, all of you. I already have a plan for my soldiers."

"You do sir. Can we hear it?"

Nikolai looks at the daring lieutenant. The lieutenant flinches under the Emperor's gaze.

"Leave. Back to your soldiers."

"Yes, sir." They all bowed and left.

"Fools all of them."

Nikolai begins to look back over reports. A strong breeze shakes the tent. He hears shouting. Nikolai looks up and dismisses it.

Then a soldier runs in. "Sir, there is a....a....."

"Spit it out man! What is there?" General Elkins walks in and pushes the soldier out of the way.

"Sir, Aldira is here."

Emperor Nikolai jumps to his feet, "I'm going to rip off her wings I swear this."

Nikolai exits the tent. General Elkins leads the Emperor towards the outside of the camp. The group walks to an open field where dozens of soldiers stare at the unusual site.

A large Dragon is standing in the middle of the field. It is flexing its wings. Making small gusts of winds in the process. The Dragon is Blue and Purple in color. It has very large wings, and many veins coursing through them.

General Elkins, and the soldier stop as the Emperor continues to walk toward the beast. He stops about a foot from it's chest, and waits.

The beast stop stretching it's wings and stares down at the Emperor. The dragon blows hot air at Nikolai.

That is the only hello you will get from me, Nikolai.

"Aldira, I told you to stay put in the Capital."

Only because my wing was injured. Now it is perfectly fine. See.
Aldira looks at her wing, and starts to flap it.

"I can see that, but I ordered you to stay. Never, did I call you out here."

She turns her head and lower it to bump Nikolai in the chest with her snout.

I only listen to you, when I want too. I received no new about your health, so I came to find out.

Emperor Nikolai looks at General Elkins, "Clear the area."

"Yes, sir."

The Emperor waits until the General, and soldiers are out of the area.

"You need to start listening to someone. You do whatever you want, and it usually gets you into trouble."

I resent that. I listen to you, sometimes. I care not for other people's orders. You are the only one I care about.

Nikolai rubs his head, "If you cared about my dang feelings you would start listening."

How is you practice coming along?

The Emperor freezes, he looks around.

"Let's go someplace else."

The Emperor leads Aldira towards the forests, he sits. Aldira slowly surrounds him with her body to block any outsiders view.

Nikolai opens up his hand. He whispers, and fire appears. It dances on his fingers as he rotates it.

You have improved. What else have you worked on?

He closes his fist, and the fire disappears. He looks at a small stone near Aldira's tail. He reaches for it. The stone starts to shake. It lifts about a foot off the ground, and zips straight into Nikolai's hand.

"Works well when I need a new writing utensil. I also have worked on making things invisible." Nikolai looks at the sun, "We must be getting back."

The Emperor stands and slowly makes his way back to the camp with Aldira in tow.

What are your next moves?

"Hmm? What do you mean?"

Before I left the Capital. I looked at the map, and where the troops were located. Interesting placement.

The Emperor stops, "How do you feel about going to war?"

Aldira shows her many teeth.

Ecstatic.
