Yeah I agree that they are forced, and if it is Gandalf then it will be even more forced. They essentially feel like their only purpose is to shout "hey remember the lord of the rings", and Gandalf would just make that worse. But I don't think it is Gandalf because meteor man gives off evil guy vibes. I've heard the theory on the webs that he is the balrog that was teased in one of the trailers, which would bug me less than Gandalf or Sauron, because it would just be silly, but it would continue the forced references to lotr.

I assume that the dagger is some sort of morgul blade, but I'm not sure why it has the map-of-mordor-mark on it if it was already in mordor. With that in mind, why would Sauron put the mark on Finrod's corpse?

March of Maedhros wrote:With that in mind, why would Sauron put the mark on Finrod's corpse?

I don't know, maybe it was a sign for the orcs to remind them of the plan to flee to Mordor, but the elves found his body before the orcs got rid of him; I don't know?

I don't have access to the show, so I've not watched yet (though I'll probably hoist the black flag at some point and commandeer a copy). But I'm quite interested in what folks think of it, and don't mind spoilers at all, so I'm happy to hear from everyone!

I've heard it's a good book; I haven't read it myself, but I practically know most of the history of Middle Earth, such as the downfall of Numenor and the creation of the world by Eru.

I'd definitely recommend you give it a try sometime. It's got a ton of amazing moments throughout the book, even if you already know the overarching story

Tatarica hey can you start boosting for Horsemen of the Apocalypse?

Also maybe re-add myself and the old gang back as regional officers.

Hope everyone enjoys the event!

XKI Game-Side

This month our favorite Regional Pollster, Jabberwocky, brought us a fantastic poll; it asked Islanders if they like pineapples on pizza!

In the poll, there were 113 voters, of which 52 voted that putting pineapples on pizza was a horrid idea, 36 voted that they don’t really mind either way, and 10 voted that pineapples on their pizza was a must!

Meet The Nation

This month, BCN senator Gonggong interviewed Harjanika!.

Gong: How did you join NS and why pick XKI as a region?

Harjanika: I was bored one day and I thought that it would be interesting if I made my own nation in a game (I was looking for a 1 day thing but NS was way better). As for XKI, I joined because of TITO (I initially thought that nations could get invaded, however I am glad that I joined XKI nethertheless).

Gong: Ooo, yeee! I'm also glad that you ended up staying in XKI! The second question is: What is your favorite thing about XKI?

Harjanika: I would say ATA. When I look at other regions there's nothing quite like it. Also, the community is very nice and I have met some amazing friends here (including you)

Gong: Yeee! We're lucky to have you in Tito and ATA too! That reminds me that I should get more active on ATA, its been a while since I've done anything there! The third question is: Do you have any future ambitions to work in the government of XKI?

Harjanika: I did try to run for a senator once but I haven't been successful yet and I am not sure if I have what it takes about being the delegate however I am currently and ambassador to the Union of Democratic States! So at the moment I am quite happy

Gong: Oo, yee! I've tried to do something like that in ATA before, I can't remember if it ended up working or not! Oo, I hope one day you could become delegate! The last question is an easy one: What's your favorite color?

Harjanika: Awww! Thank you! However I imagine that it is really tough being Delegate. About the last question: Magenta! It's so nice and peaceful and vibrant at the same time! Now I fancy seeing a Pinky Magenta Sunset

Gong: Yeee! Thank you for answering the questions!

Hope to see you all next month, your XKI Update Staff is signing off!

After elections.

by Pt-20230412 system

The elections have been finished. 211 of 330 places in the Parliament of Telera has been taken by Elner Mâas (literally "the saint mountain"), a conservative party.

"This is great day. After decades of radical governments, we finally take the race. We will improve the economy." - says the leader of Elner Mâas.

Rest parties are: âhża batozae (star of the forest, the former governing party, considered as far-right) with 25 places, Itenim Bażali (free people, considered far-left) with also 25 places, Tolo Iteno (civic platform, considered a party of thieves) with 50 places, Wotok Itilinientuss (chest with money, a small party that was helping Tolo Iteno to form their government) with 9 places and Soeze Zollijali (alliance of the universe, considered a cosmopolitan party) with 10 places.

Account from the Royal Repository of Assembled Tolkien Memes

In this instance, a short fiction piece I found about the Eagles and the meme of their use as transportation. I think it's quite lovely, so I thought I'd pass it along.

'Gwahir flew you from Isengard?' Frodo winced as he leaned up on his elbow, edging close to the wizard. 'With a friend like that you could fly all the way to Mordor.'

'Oh,' said Gandalf, 'could I now?'

'I'm sure you could. He'd fly you straight over the black mountains, right up to the peak of Mount Doom, and from there you could drop the ring into the fire. It wouldn't matter who sees you coming if you only flew half as fast.'

'No?' Gandalf replied in earnest, passing a hand through his beard as he considered the option quite seriously.

'I suppose for as long as it would take, which wouldn't be long at all, as you say, I could quite happily resist the power of the ring. Then again, why should I even go at all?'

He wandered over to the balcony, where Frodo could just make out the trees of Rivendell peering through the mist. Gandalf leaned on the bannister, looking up and over the clouds.

'Eagles are not like hobbits, Frodo. Nor are they like men or wizards. The ring speaks to creatures too, but Gwahir is noble. He could carry the ring to Mordor on his own, with or without me as his companion; you are never an eagle's rider; he takes you on his way, and he is alone in choosing his destination.'

The wizard was quiet, and Frodo felt a shiver pass across the curtains around him. The leaves of the trees bristled, and a shadow moved in the corner of the room. Frodo turned to look, and saw a veil laid across a wooden chair carved in the manner of the elves; with fine lines and bleached wood. The veil slipped, then rose into the air, and then it shook lightly as if taking a step. Its edge curved, and there appeared the silhouette of a young woman, with dark hair falling around pointed ears. The shape of the woman walked across to Frodo and bowed, and from within the veil two light eyes passed across the chain that lay around his neck, then fell away to the floor.

'Mithrandir is teasing you,' said the she-elf. 'The eagles cannot pass the notice of the Eye. They would resist the power of the ring, but only in the place where their spirits run the strongest - high in the currents of the air. Up there no dark will can touch their hearts.'

The elf drew close to Frodo, and he saw her face clearly - young and old, and beautiful as the stars. She whispered into his ear, and he watched as her mouth seemed almost motionless, as though the words passed from thought to thought.

'Where wills cannot touch, Frodo, eyes can still see. Through the clouds he would see them, whilst peering over the edge of the black mountains, and the Eye would send his own birds to snatch the ring.'

The elf looked at Gandalf, and seemed to rise beyond her height, to stand almost his equal. 'Only men can keep their spirits in places that do not tend their natures.'

'Not only men,' said Gandalf, turning from the balcony, 'and men rarely keep their spirits close to their natures in the first place, if they can help it.'

Who else agrees with the following?

1. The Stranger is probably Gandalf (From his gray cloak and knowing Quenya, his close friendship with staying with the Harfoots this long, and I think that he drew Gandalf's G-rune)

2. Halbrand is probably Sauron (From being "driven" from his home by orcs, his death-eye shot he gave to Adar when he asked if he hurt someone Halbrand knew, and just his selfishness)

3. Durin III is hiding something (He shut down the Mithril mining from a single and short cave in, but doesn't history said they kept digging to a point of being "too greedily and too deep")

4. Galadriel needs to calm the heck down (I mean, she becomes the Lady of Lorien and is the calmest and pacifist elf I've ever known, and it's very dark to suggest orc torture + genocide)

5. Gil-Galad and Celebrimbor needing Mithril is a stretch (The rings of power were created to preserve realms right, not this 'we're going to die without it' and using Elrond to get it)

Greetings, everyone. I decided to create Numenor, but this is a version of Numenor where the Faithful won out and turned the kingdom away from the ruinous path that Sauron led it down. When my population hits 750 million, I will make Tar-Miriel the leader. The nation will be an absolute monarchy, but a benevolent one.

Sounds like a fun idea for a nation :) The Dwarrow welcome you to the region.

Well it seems that you were mostly right.

I will say that, after the first season, I can say that it is simultaneously the worst adaption of a work that I have ever seen, and the worst show (adaptation questions aside) that I have ever personally watched through a whole season.
The writing is astonishingly bad.
