How do you guys feel about The War of the Rohirrim movie 2024?
Tatarica, Dwarf, and FrodoBaggins
An anime film prequel to "Lord of the Rings" could actually be pretty cool. It's a genre that I've seen a great deal of creativity in, even though it's not always my preferred. But I remember liking that "Animatrix" prequel to "The Matrix" series, so maybe that's a good sign. In any case, getting the background on Helms Deep should be pretty fun.
Tatarica, FrodoBaggins, and Minas Arnor
It can’t be worse then the Amazons :)
That may be true, I'm still skeptical about both, but I don't expect them to be nearly as great as the Peter Jackson movies thought.

Our Regional Pollsters, brought us many fantastic polls this month including an engaging debate on which size of Elephant would win in a fight! Check it out here.
This month our Emissary Udpate staff interviewed an incredible islander who is involved in so many aspects of our great region. Valentian Elysium. Markanite: Thanks for doing this! Firstly, how did you join NS and why pick XKI as a region?
Valentian Elysium: I joined NationStates because I wanted a website where I could create my own country, and modify it according to my views. And NS just so happened to be there on the Google search And I chose XKI cuz it seemed the friendliest! And I’m glad I chose it :D
Markanite: I'm sure I speak for all of the region when I say we're glad you did too! What's your favourite thing about the region?
Valentian Elysium: Ah, thank you! And my favourite thing has to be the community! So many people here are awesome, and I’ve met so many new friends. I’m really glad I’m able to be with them ^-^
Markanite: I love the community here too, we are very lucky. Do you have any additional roles in 10000 Islands?
Valentian Elysium: Yes, we are! And I do have additional roles. I am a Cultural Officer Assistant, Deputy Lyonesse East Senator, and I'm also a TITO member! And, of course, I'm now a recruiter as well :P I used to be the New Republica South Senator for a long time last year, as well as a TIBOE member
Markanite: Which is your favourite role? If you have one! Do you have any other aspiriations in XKI? Like being a Minister or Delegate?
Valentian Elysium: I liked all of them equally! I really enjoyed all of my roles 😄
And aspirations, you’ll just have to see 🙂
Markanite: I like how vague that is! In the words of Palpatine from Star Wars 'We will watch your career with great interest'
Thank you so much for your time!
TITO Update – February 2022
Has your region been invaded, or do you want to get in touch with TITO? If so, contact one of the following nations:
~Commander-in-Chief: Hakketomat
~Field Commander: Kanta Hame
~Tactical Officers: Smugglers and Mercs (TITO EF), Controlitia, Wischland, Sulenia, Flying Eagles, Thedairos
~Executive Officers: HN67, Eastern New England
Although it was only 28 days, the month of February was a long and busy one! TITO members deployed for ten defenses, three liberations, and five detags. However, most of the month was spent in various long-lasting missions including assisting in TSP’s delegate transition and helping natives clean up in several regions. Even in their off-time, TITO members had plenty to do with the newly-introduced TITO Squad Competitions. Troops were divided into three teams and given various tasks, including art design competitions, tech work, plus good old defending! Their first major activity was to design the first-ever TITO flag! Check back in next month to see the final result. But for now, check out the teams and their logos below!
Update chat had some good jokes this past month!
This month, we sat down to talk with TITO’s resident coding genius HN67 for the inside scoop on the life of a Technical Liaison.
Wisch: To start us off, how long have you been involved in coding and what first got you into it?
HN67: I've really been coding since late elementary, when I got into making little games / just messing around with something called GameMaker, and then in junior high I experimented a lot with batch scripting and something called Scratch. I made a lot of text-based adventure-ish things on the command line (by heavily abusing batch scripts) and various games on Scratch.
Wisch: That's quite a long time! How do you think those skills transferred over to you TL work?
HN67: Well it's made me always be quite comfortable with computers, so it was pretty natural when I started learning more powerful programming languages like python in high school. And I think the ability to explore / try out things is super valuable
Wisch: As Technical Liaison, you help code programs to improve TITO performance, along with other scripts for general NS usage. What has been your favorite project thus far?
HN67: Tough question. My favorite project is probably my API wrapper, but its a extremely broad project. A significant portion of my NS related programming has been connected with role as XO, in automating large / lengthy portions of various duties. Yeah I would say my API wrapper is my favorite project, cause its been a lot of fun to work on the actual core of the project, and then its really very extensible; I've used it to write an autologin, endotarter, card scripts, etc.
Wisch: I've certainly found it very helpful! And about how long have you spent on your API wrapper thus far?
HN67: Its hard to say; I started working on it over two years ago when I wanted to streamline endotarting for myself. I wouldn't be surprised if I have spent at least in the hundreds of hours range over two years
Wisch: Well, we thank you for your dedication. For our final question, what would you recommend to anyone looking to get into NS coding?
HN67: The main thing if you are trying to get into something is to have actual motivation, a project that you want to accomplish. Almost all of my programs have grown out of wanting to make something concrete, like an endotarter aid. The NS coding community is pretty welcoming too, so don't be afraid to ask others for advice; when I was getting started with NS coding that cards/coding community overlap was pretty active and helpful.
What has it got in it's nasty little pocketses?
*stuffs a hand into one of my own pockets*
Well, if it's anything like what's in my pocket, it's pretty sticky...eww
Hi from the druadan forest
Dwarf and Minas Arnor
Welcome to Middle Earth friend.
Thank you.
Greeting, wild one of the wood.
Hello
Be careful, 2 "empires" are doing a massive takeover of smaller regions. saint empire victorien in which i was some time ago was taken by lily. KZSR (conservative united national union) was conquered by the communist bloc for short amount of time
We shall be ready for them if they dare come to Middle Earth.
We usually do tend to keep to ourselves and enjoy the world of Tolkien, but we are aware that NationStates is a battleground at times. Life in Middle Earth is quite peaceful - some times to extreme extents! - and we are good-natured and enjoy a good in-theme debate (and out-of-theme, sometimes). And while I very much appreciate players of all ideologies joining us and contributing to Tolkien's world on the side in their free time from RL and their NS jobs, I would mind terribly if we get dragged in NationStates politics and "war" and conquest.
Our best wishes get extended to all those regions that have suffered from hostile takeovers and hostility as a whole, and we reiterate that we try our best to have Middle Earth as a safe haven from these kind of turmoils.
Moreover, we thank very, very much our friends from within and from outside of our region - for their dedication and help!
Onfande, Tauremorna, and Emyn Arnen
Pfft, lord of the rings nerds <3~
Good job raiding Canada! Wait…
Maybe we should create a new region that is locked
