I just checked the Amazon's LOTR TV show first published trailer.

Apparently it still has to do with rings ...

Anyone else checked it? What are your feelings about it?

Saruman the white

If Amazon really added black elves and dwarves, and sex scenes... then i'll do what i have never done, rate the show 1/10... There are so many cultures, humanoids and lands to explore and film about; Rhun, Harad, Khand, Umbar, Rhudaur, Troll lairs north of Rivendell, Blue Mountain, that mountain between Rhun and Rhovanion where Dwarves live, forgot the name...

Why do movie studios provoke so much, it hurts their profit as well...

I wish i could trust you... i'd be very uncomfortable watching the show, expecting to see sex scene, i don't have intention to watch 50 minutes on my toes.

I dont know, maybe i'll give it a try, but if i see sex scene, then its one star and negative comment.

Now you got me confused; either Rhudaur or Dunland, what was i thinking. Dunland, the ones who fought for Saruman, that was Third Age, Rhudaur fought for the Witch King of Angmar, that was Second Age, the war that lasted 500 years?

By the way i made an alt The Mouth of Sauron, so you know its me if i comment here or reply.

one of the directors informed that the show will be watchable for 12 year olds except for some parts that would be too scary for them

Both were in the Third Age.

Howdy folks :> I'm new to NS. I was just looking through the regions, saw this one, and thought it might be a fun adventure :) happy to be here with you.

Dwarf and Frodobaggins

Hello Askadian, nice to have you here with us :)

Since you're new to the site, feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Frodobaggins

Hello fellow Tolkien fans, I just popped in this region with some other kingdoms (Ents of Treebeard, Armies of Sauron, and Imiladris) hope we can all have fun discussing lotr lore and the future of middle earth.

Smeagollum wrote:Both were in the Third Age.

Yes because the dunlendings fought the Rohirrm with Saruman's Uruk'hai in the late third age, and the Rhudaur fought with the Witch King against the ancient kindgom of Arnor in the earlier third age like TA 1356.

Dwarf, Smeagollum, and Frodobaggins

Hi Minas Arnor, glad to have you and your fun series of puppets in the region :)

It's been a bit more quiet here, of late, but I'm sure there will be more through soon.

Frodobaggins

Thanks for the greeting. :)

If I may ask, what's your story for how you got into the works of Tolkien?

For me, my father read "The Hobbit" to my brother and I when we were quite young. We enjoyed it so much that, over the following many years, he continued with the "Lord of the Rings" books, which we enjoyed even more as we aged and became able to appreciate the more mature subjects. I believe I was ~11 years old when we eventually bailed on "The Silmarillion," which we had attempted to continue on with...just a bit too dry for a youngster.

Frodobaggins

When I was about 6-7 years old, my father was a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings, he read all the main books and liked the Peter Jackson films; one day my mother found and online game that was called Lord of the Rings Online and he bought that and played it for years (he still plays it now and has "raid nights" with his friends on Monday and Tuesday nights), I watched him play and always asked questions about the story and what he was doing in the game. Over the last few years I was given the privilege's to see the Hobbit and Lotr movies and I loved them, I have read the Hobbit and I own all three books (I still haven't read them fully yet, but I have basic understanding what it has that's different from the movies), and I also own a book that teaches elvish (Quenya) that I have practiced a bit, I now play Lord of the Rings Online (I am about a level 82 Rune-keeper Elf currently questing in East Rohan); other games I own are Battle for Middle Earth 1 & 2 on PC, War of the Ring second Edition with expansions, and two Lord of the Ring card games; so you can see that I like playing inside Tolkien's world.

Sorry if that was a bit long, another thing that I want to mention is there is a YouTube channel called Nerd of the Rings that I absolutely love, this person researches all these crazy subjects from all published books from the base trilogy to the Silmarillion and back, I think some of you guys would like him.

Dwarf, Frodobaggins, and Emyn Arnen

No worries at all about long posts. I have no memory of "Lord of the Rings Online," but I looked it up and it kind of looks like a World of Warcraft for the Tolkien world? Seems like a fun game, though. The only game like that I ever played was Runescape, a free and rather hilariously-bad browser-based fantasy MMORPG, but one that I dumped so many hours into. Otherwise, I don't think I've played any other LotR games, but I'll look into those card games.

Nice to hear you enjoyed the "Hobbit" movies, as I've only heard bad reviews, so far. I've put off watching them because of that. But I really do want to give them a chance. And I'll definitely look into that youtube channel, it's always fun hearing other folks' take, plus I am certainly no expert on the Silmarillion so I've always got a lot to learn.

I'll recommend something I've done before on here, a podcast I have greatly enjoyed in the past called "The Tolkien Professor" (looks like he split it into two places):

https://tolkienprof.fireside.fm/episodes/page/1
https://mythgard.org/lotro/exlotr/

Some are taped lectures, some are prepared digital radio programs, some are community discussions with other experts or even fans. Absolutely adore the guy.

Frodobaggins

The Hobbit, first book, fine.. it's an easy read, then I probably read the trilogy a little young - it was a slog, so really it was The Silmarillion that really captured me and made me read the trilogy again.

I've seen some of them, but I think the Tolkien professor is better.
