Disappointing news from Taiwan

Voters in Taiwan have backed anti-gay marriage referendums in what LGBT activists said was a major blow to the islandís reputation as a rights trailblazer.

Agence France-Presse

In the end, not unexpected, but the prospect of equal marriage looked promising last year.

We need a dislike button on this site. I am saddened.

I hate the GAY SCENE. It's body shaming, racist, alcoholic, drug addicted, sex addicted, nasty, stuck-up and homophobic.

I tried to start this conversation in Gay Equality several months ago - not interested - and in Gay before that. I was dismissed as being "heteronormative". Anyway, I've tried to initiate a discuss in our region, but as we consist of only four real people, well.. maybe someone else will be interested. That's all it takes.

I've just replied to this in Gay Equality. There is a good book on these matters: "Straight Jacket: Overcoming Society's Legacy of Gay Shame" by Matthew Todd. British, published by Black Swan.

I have also just seen series three of "Eastsiders", American, now on Netflix, a gay drama which deals with much the same things.

The problem with discussing sensitive matters openly on the Gay Equality message board is that we get trolls. The most recent was a pretend-friendly straight type whose flag was a confederate flag with a cross on it. It's good to talk - but the Gay Equality regional message board is hardly a safe space.

Stonewall FC win 3-1 at Wembley

Players from the UK's first gay football club Stonewall FC have described "a dream come true" after an historic win at Wembley.

Playing under a rainbow arch at the home of English football, this was not just any victory for Stonewall FC in their regular Middlesex County Football League Division One (Central & East) fixture against Wilberforce Wanderers.

The team - now the world's most successful LGBT-inclusive club - were invited by the FA to play the game at the national stadium to mark their new partnership with the LGBT equality charity Stonewall, which organises the Rainbow Laces campaign for inclusion in sport. Sky Sports

I went to an event that they had to celebrate the Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign :)

I'm currently reading "David Bowie Made Me Gay". It's lots of short chapters about how LGBT people have fared in the music industry.
