If you could visit one place in the world, where would it be?
One time my father went to do research in Japan for a summer and I visited him there. We went to this amazing volcano formation there (I forget the name) but it was like a giant ring of old dead volcanoes and maybe a few that steamed sometimes. I remember the grass being brilliantly green and the mountains staggeringly beautiful and the weather perfect and being so happy! I'd really like to go back sometime...
The Atacama desert in Chile, specifically when it rains. The entire place looks dead, but when it rains it becomes a gigantic field of flowers, since all the flowers bloom spontaneously.

The point is, I don't know what I'm talking about.
I'd like to go to Machu Picchu too! I know a fair amount about a lot of old cultures but practically nothing on the Incas so I bet it'd feel really magical and strange in a cool way seeing where those people lived and stuff.
Oh, I thought maybe you were referencing the Johnny Cash song! x)
Undersecretary Rose led Präfekt-Commander Jaspers into the Grand Foyer of Government House. Prime Minister James Ysar was waiting for them, along with a horde of photographers and jouranlists from both corporate and independent news outlets. The usual dog and pony show followed, with Ysar and Jaspers shaking hands, exchanging pleasantries, posing for pictures, and answering a few questions before retiring to the PM's office for a mostly private meeting.
Once they were behind closed doors and seated, Ysar took a moment to study the foreign officer/diplomat. The man's military background was obvious: instead of relaxing in his chair, he was sitting straight up, like he was standing at attention. That not withstanding, he met Ysar's gaze with frank and guileless eyes.
"So, Prefect-Commander, the Undersecretary here tells me that your Emperor wants to bring some of the Invictus bombers here for interrogation," Ysar said, getting right to the point.
"Ja, I mean, yes, Mr. Prime Minister. Imperator Konsul Leo and his, uh, cabinet, I think the word is in your language, believe that your Lady Zaharra can get information out of them more quickly than we could," Jaspers said.
The mood in the room changed, and Jaspers wondered briefly if he'd said something offensive.
"That...is entirely up to her," Ysar said, in a tone that didn't sound promising. At Jaspers' questioning look, he elaborated. "Lady Zaharra is...well, she does what she wants to, and only what she wants to. I can ask her to interrogate your prisoners, and she might say yes, but if she says no, well, that'll be the end of that."
"She also may, or may not, greet your Emperor when he arrives; she may, or may not, attend the State Dinner we'll be having in his honor. She'll do as she pleases, and we," Ysar said, gesturing at his countrymen, "will just have to live with it."
Jaspers sat silently, processing that. "Is she really a thousand years old?" he asked after a bit.
Ysar chuckled darkly. "Lots of foreigners think 'Zaharra' is a title that's been held by a succession of women over the centuries," he allowed. "That's not true. The Lady Zaharra residing in Castle Altenberg today is the same Lady Zaharra who came to these lands a millennium ago. She doesn't grow old, she doesn't get sick, and she doesn't die. She can also reshape reality to her liking with a thought."
Jaspers thought that Ysar had to be joking, but he didn't come across that way. Jaspers glanced at Undersecretary Rose, who nodded silently.
"I can understand why you can't guarantee her cooperation," Jaspers allowed. He wondered how he was going to explain this to the Imperator Konsul and the Konsulrat. Superstition, religion, belief in the supernatural, they were all frowned on in Leonism. On their flight into Loftegen 2, he and his crew had joked about 'the witch-queen' and SPAB's credulity in giving any weight at all to the fanciful stories they'd related regarding her. But these people seemed convinced the stories were true, and none of them struck Jaspers as an abergläubischer Dummkopf.
"Well, anyway," Ysar said, "Let's talk about something more pleasant, like what protocols your Emperor will be expecting when he arrives. For example, how many TIE fighters will we need for the flyby?"

Far to the west, Javelin 613 was passing over The Copper States on its way to Leestcheck in the Imperium.
Colonel Jonn Truon of the Loftegen 2 Air Force glanced at his co-pilot. They were a thousand nautical miles out. It was time to start decending, and to get in touch with the Imps. Truon checked to make sure his radios were tuned to the correct frequencies, and that his phone was in place, ready to convert standard units to metric. He keyed his microphone.
"East Leonism ACC, this is Loftegen 2 Air Force flight Javelin 613, inbound to Leestcheck on a diplomatic mission, request permission to enter your airspace."
"Javelin 613, East Leonism ACC, we've been expecting you. Permission to enter is granted; welcome to the Imperium."
"Thank you, East Leonism ACC," Truon said, relieved that he wouldn't have to divert. They'd burned up eighty percent of their fuel so far, with just enough left to get to Leestcheck and have a small reserve in case of an emergency. "We are at FL 305 hectometers, 1850 kilometers out from Leestcheck, speed 6100 kph, requesting permission to begin our decent and approach."
"Copy that. Your airspace is clear above 125 hm. Decend at your discretion. Be advised you'll be picking up a fighter escort in a few minutes. We'll hand you over to Leestcheck Center when you're within 500 km of the city."
"Understood, East Leonism ACC, Javelin 613 out." Truon eased the throttles back. Almost at once the altimeter began to wind down as their airspeed fell off. He switched to the intercom, and addressed the VIP's in the passenger compartment behind him. "We're starting our decent into Leestcheck," he announced. "I estimate we'll be on the ground in...forty-five minutes."
There are many beautiful and interesting places in the world. If it really was just one place I'd be allowed to visit, I'd go with somewhere I already know is beautiful: the Aegean islands of Greece. We have visited many of them in my childhood: Lesbos, Skyathos, Skopellos, Kos, Crete (I think the latter does not count as strictly Aegean anymore, but sure is beautiful!). I enjoyed every single holiday there, so I guess just send me to a random island and I'll enjoy it there (the mainland coast was also beautiful east of Thessaloniki, in Chalkidiki).
The Greeks are good people. I'm still sad about how they suffered from the Euro crisis. I think it is a political and economical mistake to have them in the same currency union as Germany. The economies are just too disparate and will always require different inflation- and interest rates to work properly, something that is impossible in a shared currency.
Only academic exchange program? That's too shortsighted!
Students needs to be dosed with nootropics! infected with transforming virus with intelligence boosting options! Think about uploading their minds and robotization! Merge them with AIs! Or all of the above!!
mwahahaha, muwhahaha, muahahaha, bwahahaha, *thunnder* Wait I thought it was sunny ... That's funny. What I was talking about again?
I'm used to just typing N in my search bar, and to have NS as the first thing recommended. I would just hit enter and I was done. Now I've gone and looked up Nephthys (an Egyptian Goddesses of the dead). Habits die hard, and in the meantime, I'll be seeing a lot more of Nephthys than expected.
Dear leader loves to travel and loves all the suggestions. He loves nature and being outdoors. He is very depressed by climate change and took the twins fishing to just get out to enjoy nature. though they didnt catch anything they had fun and went on a hike after and then the twins played in the sprinkler. Lady glitter sparkles took beer leader to the local zoo.
