Hi! I'm Erroria, just joined this region! You can call me Dust though.
Although I'm new to NationStates (joined the day before yesterday), I do have nations in other regions. They're Dustalma, Cardiata, Mirroria, and Invertablia.

There are actually two maps in Karma right now!

1) Our RP map. Karma's RP is modern tech (with a but of a future spin) and has a continental map. In the Karma cannon, we consider the RP map to be sort of a historic precursor to the regional map, which is wildly futuristic. Almost to the point of being fantasy. So maybe on this map, you can imagine an earlier version of your nation which has not yet hit that 8 billion peak if it'd make you feel better about squeezing everyone in. You can join this map in the #map-claims channel on Discord. Laniron (aka Lani) will take care of that for you. :)
2) Our regional map. Karma built the lore it has for itself a long time ago. I could never pinpoint why, but we always pictured ourselves as spiritual and galactic. We still tend to. Our regional map is more concept than continental - it's a hexoganal grid map depicting a bunch of floating islands in space. Canonically, Karma floats around like a bunch of crazy space gypsies on islands where it's really easy to communicate terrain and what's important to your nation through little icons and colors you can add to each grid hex. My nation is all forest lands, except the middle hex which is a giant desert and has a huge pyramid on it. (Lukatonia Osi represent!) In the vastness of space, maybe it'd be easier to imagine your whole population chilling in our massive, weird armada. :p And then if anything happens and you disappear, John will turn your nation into a nebula. o_o You can sign up for this map in the #karma-lore channel. Weknesia (aka Jonnemanni/Jon) will set you up.

The World of Karma RP has ended!
Thank you to everyone who participated during it's 3 year stay! I will keep this dispatch up, and will update it to include the final Chapter 2 map before it ended.
Also, the dispatch currently appears to be broken, so I'll fix that when I update it properly.

Guide!
- If A Nation Is in Bold, it's an independent nation.
- If a Nation is not in Bold, it is a Colony
- If a nation is not in Bold, but is in Italics, then it's a Puppet.
- A nation's colour is determined by it's alliance, shown in the bottom right. If a nation is Green it is not a member of any alliances

Sorry none of our Chameleons got you a speedy response. :) You can turn them off here: page=tgsettings. Set recruitment to block all. I would recommend everyone doing that. They eventually slow down, but they never really stop coming.

Hello, Aubrey! I like that name. :o Most people just call me Alti or Altino.
Liiiiitle bit rude there. But you have an okay point. If you don't like the polls that are being used, you should try joining the Chameleons and running for Poll Master. They elect a new poll master weekly and that person gets Regional Officer perms so they can run polls til the next election. That goes for everyone, if you'd like a chance at doing the polls. :) Chameleons are the place to be.

I always think it's funny that people jump right to "Americans are so stupid, why can't they do anything the normal way!" vibes rather than looking to why things are that way. Lol. The UK used to have two games they called football - rugby and association football. To prevent getting the two confused, rugby football was shortened to just rugby and association football to assoc. football, and then just soccer. They eventually stopped calling association football by the name "soccer" and flipped to calling it football because Americans picked up soccer and they didn't want to seem too American. So, Americans call football "soccer" because the British introduced it to us, that's what they called it, so that's what we knew it as. Then the British got pretentious about it and flipped names because America has cooties, I guess. For both games, though, they used football and rugby/soccer pretty much interchangeably. Rugby and Soccer came to America at about the same time and - both being called football - America just meshed them into one game that we called football. So to us, rugby was strictly rugby, soccer was strictly soccer, and football was a mesh of the two games. Modern football has developed a new way of playing, but the rules used to be pretty different and more in keeping with a rugby/soccer combination.

Hope that answers your question. :)

Apparently But Football is played with a foot and the ball looks like a ball. While American Rugby football is mostly played by hands and it looks like an Egg so. And talk about pretentiousness. Americans play baseball amongst their own states and call it the world series. So it makes more sense to call football 'football' and American Rugby just 'American Rugby'. Also it's not just the English. The Spanish also call it Futbol.
