Should we hold another election?

1 Yes, Puldania has been overruled by majority vote; an interim leader (de facto by endorsement) should oversee the election of another president.

2 Yes, Puldania should ensure that an election is fairly and constitutionally carried out for his replacement.

3 No, Puldania was unfairly denied his WAD status by griefing, and this should be treated as a raid.

4 No, The current WAD - the de facto - is rightful owner of the title. Elections are outdated, let endorsements be our vote.

5 No, the current constitution is unlawful, a rewrite is necessary before meaningful politics can take place.

Y'all are crazy if ya think another Constitution is being written up.

How do you help someone through a breakup, I’m really bad at these things. The only thing I know is to be there for them.

It's an option because it needs to be.

What do I want out of a school? Well, what I dont want is the prestige. I couldn't care less if I go to PSU or Yale. The standing of the school doesn't really matter, as they all more or less provide the same and will give me a great education. Some being more 'developed' in certain fields than others, which is something I'll have to consider. I I really want is a place where I can really explore what drives me, and where my passions truly are. I've narrowed down my ideas a bit, but I still haven't decided amongst such fields as Political Science, Environmental Science, some form of Law, Urban Design to a lesser extent, and something else I'm surely forgetting, an intersection amongst them, or something totally out of left field. I really want a place with options and opportunities to grow and develop freely. What drives me away from Reed is its revolution around academia and the act of learning 'for the sake and love for learning'. That just isn't really for me. I'm all for learning, but I want that to exist as a mechanism for a greater end than learning itself. I don't want a PhD in English or history etc, basically.

What I also greatly value in a college is the ability for me to interact and have experiences with different ideas/perspectives/backgrounds/people/etc. That's always been a great intrigue for me, and I find great value in experiencing experiences different than my own. A subset of that is travelling abroad, which I have great interest in.

On a certain level it's definitely about getting a good degree so I can get a good career in something I'm passionate about. But it's also about the refinement of my beliefs and perspectives through the people I meet and the experiences I gain. Narrowing myself down by casting a large net, in a way. To really sum it all up, it's about refinement through opportunity of experiences.

Gosh darn hock v2

Why don't you do something like major in Urban design and minor in environmental studies and political science?

Estradia wrote:Honestly, I don't know. It's used to be Reed, but I've kinda soured over that recently. PSU would be great as it's so close by, and I get 4 years 'free'. But UOregon also does that, and they've given my a 6K/year scholarship that also covers housing. And then UWashington-Seattle is by some of my family, so that'd be cool too.

And I still have 7 schools to wait on. If I got accepted to an Ivy, that'd be amazing. But I'm not holding my breath.

So, really, I have no idea.

PSU and Uoregon are free to attend?

Timberwolves wrote:It's an option because it needs to be.

It's a bad option

I'm definitely considering Majoring & Minoring in fields where my focus is at. Not sure exactly how that'll be split up, but that's the plan thus far. Also am interested in possibly learning Economics. Not exactly the most exciting for me, but it's very important for further a career in politics, if that's what I decide.

Othelos wrote:PSU and Uoregon are free to attend?

'Free' Tuition/Direct Fees anyway. For PSU I hav 4 Years Free and for UOregon I have PathwayOregon. I also have a 24K scholarship for UOregon, split into 4 years. It can be added to the free tuition. Don't think PSU housing is covered as of now, but it's also cheaper than UOregon.

If you can do a course on international relations then I'd choose that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_relations

It's basically a really interdisciplinary form of politics which sounds like it could tick your boxes.

Just listen and let them talk it out. Avoid giving advice unless they ask you for it.

To a degree, yes.

Celitannia wrote:Get a BA on the side with all your med money.

Well, I'm already in PreMed and set to go forth this way for the next six years.

As long as medicine is what you really want to do. I couldn't imagine spending so much time and money for something that brought me no happiness

As some of you may know, and many of you I suspect are learning now, there was a mass shooting at a mosque in NZ.

The attacker livestreams his rampage, video of which can be found across the web for obvious reasons. That is not the point of this post, but a background.

One man in this incident - a victim of the shooters - deserves to have his name in the news.

I dont care who was shooting. I dont care what he used or where he was from or what his childhood was - the police can determine the relevance of that.

But one man stood up to the shooter. One man rushed the gunman, and nearly took him down, if not for luck alone. This mans actions and bravery, while ultimately inconsequential, are a gold standard.

To give ones life trying to protect the innocent from evil deserves international recognition.
Being a worthless sh1tbag who would attempt such a crime doesn't deserve a marked grave.

I don't know their name, and care not too. There's a great sadness for those who're pushed to commit such vile acts, and great admiration felt for those willing to sacrifice themselves for the well-being of strangers. RIP.

The Constitution works perfectly, Puldania is the issue. Not only were his actions at least questionable, but during his term he has proven again and again, that he doesn't understand the constitution and he doesn't even want to try to understand it. He literally started his term by talking about how to break it. And perhaps even more important from certain points of view, despite being told time and time again exactly what parts of the constitution he has broken, he has refused to acknowledge it.

I appreciate his efforts for the region, but I still have the same opinion, he's not fit to be President and he should resign.

I've examined the parts of the constitution I've allegedly broken before, and it doesn't hold up.

But you're welcome to gather testimonials to file for a referenda on the matter.

I had a successful date and I come back to the region sorta on fire.

Business as usual.

The school managed to stop a potential school shooter. They threatened to hit the assembly that we were gonna have. The police confiscated weapons from the persons home and arrested the person that sent the threat. It is a student.

Well that was close.
