If only history had slightly altered so the British colonized the Phillipines
We would be a bit more built up and industrialised

Nope, not really.
Even if México won, it wouldn't have been in a good position at the time.

The British did bad things to the nations they colonised, no doubt about that, but they helped modernise them, which makes them better nations to live in today.

We’re no richer than those in the Phillipines.

Dude, you're severely underestimating just how awful inequality is in the Philippines. I've seen massive shanty towns formed near polluted rivers against the backdrop of entire cities.

Wow, that’s actually a pretty messed up thing to say. Australia is a First World Country, the Philippines sadly aren’t. This is basically when you say the Irish had just a hard time, as black people in early America, sure they didn’t have it easy, but not as bad.

Honestly, I doubt that. Britain had two types of colonies, those that they settle and those that they did not. Their settled colonies like Australia, and the United States did prosper.

But lands like the Philippines definitely would've gotten the same treatment as the British Raj and British Malaya.

The Spanish were worse
Gave us siesta time, corporal punishment against children which is still in place today, and other bad habits.
Not to mention the fact they only cared about the galleon trade
Didn't bother to build us up, not even teach us Spanish until the late period leading up to the Americans
The Latin Americans had better rights than us

Although what the Japanese did was horrible, the people of Japan didn’t have anything to do with it, yet it was probably still needed, if we wanted Japan to surrender, and end the war quicker.

And the black community in America say they're being "oppressed". I imagine what it's like for the Filipino.

India is still a bit better than us

Even though poverty

Malaya on the other hand
Yeah we're par
I think Britain would build us up though
Like Singapore
We're like a gateway to China and Japan and also the East Indies
