It isn't outside of the armor.

It's inside of the armor and it won't really cause a chain reaction.

As it's only meant to monitor the vital signs of that one soldier

It doesn't destroy the body or anything like that it's simply makes the suit he's wearing unusable.

Same goes with his weapon unless picked up by another Soviet Soldier
