Regional Poll • Biden's Environmental Protection Agency effectively bans new gasoline and diesel cars by 2030

The Nomadic Peoples of Darwinian Interruptus wrote:With great applause from President Biden, the US Environmental Protection Agency released new tailpipe regulations that will pretty much eliminate gasoline and diesel cars and lights trucks. No one is making a secret about the intent of this regulation. That intent is to force everyone into electric vehicles. What do you think?

Actually. Texas is looking interesting rn

Yes they are. I wonder if they can get away with it.

Texas and the Federal Government are at odds over controlling the border. The fact is that the current administration is giving little more than a wink and nod to people entering the nation illegally through the southern border.

Texas bears a great deal of the stress on services and population from those illegal entries. Because of that, Texas took some matters into their own hands. They put the floating barricade up in the middle of the Rio Grande River. Texas had strung razor wire across miles of strategic portions of their border with Texas. They even went so far as to close a state park and banish the federal border patrol from it after the feds more or less commandeered the park to catch and release illegals crossing the border at that park. The state went on to arrest illegals coming across in the park for trespassing and jailing them.

The Biden Administration sued texas and won some and lost some. But in spite of Supreme Court rulings, Texas Gov. Abbott continues to make every effort to enforce his southern border.

There are some talking heads comparing this test of wills between Texas and the Biden Administration to the cold war. What do you think?

New poll is up.

When a prosecutor tells police officers, "We need to get the message out that if you succumb to the temptation to to shoot, then we will end up penalizing you, maybe even sending you to prison," what does that do to the people in charge of keeping us safe?

New poll is up.

The shooting on the "Rust" movie set is in the news again. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer on the set when the shooting took place is on trial for criminal negligence and manslaughter. There seems to be a lot of argument over her being charged as she did not pull the trigger. However, it is now well documented that Gutierrez-Reed had a routine disregard for long established safety standards on movie sets took place. She was very young and very inexperienced to be running the weapons on her own.

Many people believe that Baldwin is equally if not totally responsible for the shooting because he held the weapon, pointed it in an unsafe direction, and pulled the trigger. While Baldwin denies pulling the trigger, the FBI lab testing the weapon, abusing it in many different ways and says that weapon will not fire unless the trigger is pulled.

Now the finger pointing game begins. Who do you think owns the blame? New poll is up.

Elon Musk's comments about population decline led to today's poll. What say you?

This article about Nippon Steel's bid to buy US Steel ot me to thinking about how this came to be.

In this nation, domestic steel production got so expensive that sometime in the 1980's it became cheaper to ship raw materials to the Pacific Rim, have those materials made into steel, and then ship that steel back here.

Let's set the Way-Back to the late 1960's. Japan was in need of more steel than they could produce. Japanese industrialists came to the US to look at US Steel production facilities with an eye toward buying. They toured Bethlehem Steel, among other plants. At that time, Bethlehem steel had a payroll just north of 5000 people.

The Japanese witnessed seven or eight people doing a job that should only take four. They saw processes from mixing to pouring that were done manually rather than automated. They discovered flaws and quality issues due to a lack of electronic and mechanical process controls.

Every inquiry the Japanese made about the above issues and more came down to union rules and requirements.

Those industrialists went back to Japan. They did not place any orders. Three years later the first of several behumouth steel mills opened on Osaka.

That first mill dwarfed Bethlehem by a factor of three. Fully automated with state of the art mixing and process control. That first mill opened with a payroll of 500 people. That was the beginning of the decline of US steel production.

Of course, the unions are screaming bloody murder over Nippon's acquisition of US Steel.

"I feel like they already haven't put America first, by selling out to a foreign entity," USW Local 1557 President Don Furko said.

No, Don, you did this to yourselves over the last 50 years or so.

Special counsel Robert Hur issued his report on President Biden and his handling of classified documents. In that official report, Hur states that president Biden is suffering from significant memory loss. NBC News reports the following:

Special counsel Robert Hur’s portrait of a man who couldn’t remember when he served as Barack Obama’s vice president, or the year when his beloved son Beau died, dealt a blow to Biden’s argument that he is still sharp and fit enough to serve another four-year term.

In deciding not to charge Biden with any crimes, the special counsel wrote that in a potential trial, “Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview with him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

In civil law there the phrase "judgement proof" refers to someone who has no assets to seize if a civil judgement is levied against them. It is often a disincentive to sue these people because after the investment of time and money, even if the plaintiff prevails, there will be no collection.

Based on Hur's report, one cannot help but wonder if Biden is now "judgement proof" when it comes to any prosecution of his misdeeds regarding those classified documents or anything else he may be accused of. Frankly, it may be impossible to put him on the stand, let alone actually punish him.

How is this man still in office and in charge of the nuclear football?

Now poll is up.

Want to know why Democrats should not be allowed to even suggest nominees for the US Supreme Court? Here's why:

"Your view has the First Amendment hamstringing the federal government in significant ways in the most important time periods. The government actually has a duty to take steps to protect the citizens of this country... by encouraging or even pressuring platforms to take down harmful information."
—Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson addressing plaintiff's attorney during oral arguments in Murthy v. Missouri, 5th Circuit 23A243.

These two articles generated today's poll.
