Sometimes the Endotarting site doesn't work. But usually it cometh back.

And don't forget to endorse your friendly neighborhood XWAD! ;-)
I even have suns in my pretitle for the solstice; how could anyone not endorse me?!?!

Speaking of LGBT+ matters and whatnot, I was very happy to see that a student whom I had as a sophomore and was in the midst of transitioning graduated earlier today with his new name printed in the program and while wearing a suit! I'm neither in nor out at my school; I just am who I am, but it's always great to see when someone has the courage to be themselves. I'm "just" gay, but it's something that I choose to keep close to my chest, because the kids don't need to know that about me. It's better that I'm just their teacher, in the end. And that may not be forever, but for now, it's good. But to see someone transition in the course of high school is quite something. That's a hard road, much harder than just being gay (at least in my experience), and I'm so proud of him for it. :-)

If it means anything I made like five other maps long after the contest was over just because I'm a map-obsessed procrastinator.

That doesn't mean I'm getting a position xD

Cartographer Applications

As many of you are no doubt aware, the government of Forest has been considering how best to fill the position of Cartographer. Choosing the right person for the job is of paramount importance; our regional map is not only a creative feat, it is a representation of our shared values. In an effort to prevent future governments from struggling with this same predicament, we have been working hard to come up with a long-term solution that works for everyone - for the administration, for the Cartographer and (most importantly) for all the Forestians who are invested in our regional map.

We are therefore looking not for a single Cartographer, but instead to create a dedicated team of Cartographers made up of skilled and committed individuals who will collaborate with each other on all duties relating to our regional map. Individuals who are interested in being part of this team should complete the following application.
.

The Application

  • The submission period will last for one month, until the 19th of June. No applications will be accepted after that deadline. Only residents of Forest may apply.

  • The application itself has two components:

    1. A skills component involving the creation of a themed version of the Old World regional map using data that is publicly available. The themed map should allow the reader to visually compare nations based on a statistic you think shows something interesting about Forest. The map should be made in .svg format using a suitable vector graphics editing software (previous Cartographers have used Inkscape). CTE'd nations or those not residing in Forest can be left out of the map or left unranked according to the chosen statistic.

      • UPDATE: The official .svg file of the Old World map is available in the LinkForest discord server - that should link directly to the post - meaning applicants do not have to recreate the map from scratch. This file can be downloaded and edited as required for applicants to create their statistical map.

    2. A written component, no greater in length than 500 words, outlining why you would be suitable for the role. You should discuss any relevant experience, particularly that which demonstrates your capacity for long-term commitment and your ability to work as a team to complete a shared vision.

  • A high-res image of the map should be uploaded to imgur and, along with the written component, should be sent to me, Terrabod, via telegram.

  • After the deadline has closed, the government will consider all applications. Successful applicants will be contacted via telegram and will begin collaborating on Cartography business immediately.

.
If you have any questions you can send them to me via telegram or post them on the RMB.

Best of luck to all applicants!

Correct! If a WAD has, say, 120 endorsements, their vote counts 120 additional times. All of those 120 people can also then cast their own vote, basically doubling the region's WA voting power.

I have decided to vote against the Eastern Europe embassy for the 'usual reasons'.

Looking at their RMB, it is fairly inactive and spammy, and their only connection to environmentalism seems limited.

If that was where the problems ended, I would still vote for, but I am afraid to say that with a little bit of digging, their WAD and founder history looks dubious and shady, with several disgraced nations, ones with similar names and the mentioned predator.

The scientific utopias

The Scientific Utopias has studied the region with which embassies have been proposed and found it to have a history of harassment and ties to raiders, albeit without direct involvement. Though the current incarnation of the region may have righted these past wrongs, it remains too new to be seen whether they will succeed or not.

The office of PM Nuya has asked for the Nation of Ecologists and President Farroway not to try to meddle in Baraelan affairs, urging that this is merely a series of domestic protests and not a giant movement that is fit for external intervention.

The offices of King Solomon, the Alliance for Progress chairwomen Chloë Arborn, and Parliamentary Speaker Carrie Bat-Ilana Çospeaos, however, have together released a joint statement, stating that although they are against the protests at the moment due to their calls for PM Nya's resignation, that they are still grateful for the kind wishes from President Farroway, and urging for national unity and calm.

Shira Meron, one of the most prominent protest organizers, has thanked President Farroway for the support, and has tweeted thanking the Amazonian people for their support and wishing them well in their protests for a more sustainable people-powered economy. She has also sent out a public plea to other political parties around the world, including the Green-Liberal party of NoE, asking them to support the protests in Middle Barael.

Well you are in luck then. No spoilers, but more RP and lore is coming soon.....

Shira Meron has urged the government and armed forces of Einswenn to not use military or police force on any protestors, and has called on any Einswennians thinking of protesting to only do so if it is considered safe to protest. She also wishes to make it clear that although some in the movement are anti-capitalist, in general the movement as a whole in MB is not anti-capitalist, rather they simply want to get rid of corporate influence in society and make the economy more people-powered and sustainable.

Chan Island pirates are occasionally spotted in these protest crowds trying to sell a variety of items ranging from guns & drugs, to spare protest signs and refreshments. Few people seem to be buying, but that doesn't seem to stop the pirates from trying.

Quite a stir was caused yesterday during a protest in a park in the city of Minerva, when police came and raided the protest. The protestors fought back, throwing water bottles and eco-friendly Holi pigment and a variety of traditional spices at the police. To the protestors’ surprise, however, the Minerva PD went on the loudspeakers to tell the protestors that the police were merely there to arrest the Chan Islander Black Market merchants selling illegal firearms and drugs, and that they had no intention of clashing with the hitherto peaceful protestors crowd. Initially protest organizers, such as Nadir “Nigel” Abuhatzira and Shira Meron, decried this announcement as “excuses for an anti-protestor crackdown”, but after hearing the full story they released a counter-memo saying that “now that the full facts of the case have been established, we apologize to the Minerva PD for any attacks on their police forces, no matter how peaceful the attacks may have been, and we urge our protestors not to engage.” They also said that they “decry the fact that these foreign nationals are taking advantage of the situation to earn a quick buck, and we decry the socioeconomic situations that have forced them to take to these illegal business dealings. We urge all members of our movement not to buy any illicit goods from these Chan Islander hooligans, and although we call for all Forestians to stand with us, we do not want our image tainted by these lawbreaking schmucks. Thank you.”

Excerpt from the latest news:

Inspired by Chan Island's pirate activity in the protesting crowd of Middle Barael, Einswenn's most notorious black market "businessmen" have redirected their goods [including firearms and drugs] to MB to radicalise the situation. Learning from MB's police which tried to arrest the pirates from Chan Island, Einset shady merchants try to get integrated into the crowd naturally to avoid being spotted by the local authorities. They also try to cooperate with Chan Island to share profits and avoid unhealthy competition on the newly opened protest market. Several unemployed citizens of the kingdom joined to volunteer in the illegal trade activity, some of them have been caught by Einset Border Control service and returned back for further investigation. The government of Einswenn gave no commentary on the situation.

Well, I've been doing a lot of personal digging and I have come to the conclusion that yes, I am indeed bisexual. It's been a long decision making process, and I really thought out what it could be instead, but I think the best way to describe my sexual orientation is bisexuality. Fitting that I've come to this conclusion in pride month no less.

In my teens there was a time that I thought I could be bi, but what I feel towards the opposite sex was just admiration. I'm definitely gay, but I do think bi people are underrepresented and I think they get a lot of misunderstanding.

My take on the Eastern Europe embassy is that Slavuja, the Delegate, sounds like a wonderful person who would personally fit well with Forest. They seem thoughtful and well-intentioned and like they're working hard for their region. However, the region as a whole may not quite live up to that same standard at the moment -- given the somewhat "light" RMB and the fact that they're still just starting to grow again. I'm sure there are other members of Eastern Europe who would also be good fits with Forest, but overall ... this is a case where I feel somewhat bad that we can only establish embassies with regions, not with individuals. :P
