Government Tightens Covid-19 Restrictions:125 Case Record
SHARE THIS: Link Link Link Link

John Robinson| 25-10-2020

Prime Minister Hælga Jakobsdottír
interviewed by the Laverian Radio

125 cases were recorded a few days ago on Laver Island, a new record which experts warn to be the result of inefficient anti-covid-19 measures. In response to the rising numbers and multiple experts advice, Prime Minister Hælga Jakobsdottír gathered her cabinet and invited the press to a press conference in the Ministry of State in Vulkanerborg castle.
With a population of only 500,525 and with 1320 active cases the new record has put a huge burden on the nation's health sector.

"It has become crystal clear that the current response to Covid is failing us, and the reopening of our societies is affecting Europe as a whole in a negative way. We want to make it clear that we wish to avoid another total lockdown of our society, the socially and economically vulnerable will be unable to cope with another lockdown and therefore we wish to tighten restrictions and invest in means of combating the disease more efficiently instead." The Prime Minister's view on potentially imposing a new lockdown stated in the press conference.

The new restrictions now require citizens to wear masks or visors in public space, with the only exceptions being restaurants and children under the age of 12.
Testing facilities will now open in tourist arrival spots and at least one testing facility be placed in every municipality, "We believe it is important that testing should become easily accessible with fast results so that tourists who wish to visit can do so without burdening our society with more of the virus." Stated by the Minister of Logistics and Local Governments Katrín Jonsdottír. "it is vital that we get accurate numbers on the disease and track its development and treat those who will need it."

Both public and private institutions will be required to provide disinfection tools at entrances and exits, as well as limiting the institution to only allow enough people to cover 1 person per 2 meters inside the buildings, educational institutions and daycares will be exempt.
Municipalities are given the liberty to impose even tougher restrictions to better address local situations which may differ.

During her interview with the Laverian Radio, Prime Minister Hælga Jakobsdottír stated "It is a tough time for everyone and we will do our best to lessen the severity of the virus and its impact. We at the government strongly believe our daily life and its many wonders should be the expense of the virus and not the lives of those vulnerable, as of now that seems to be only desired alternative to choose from." When asked how they came to the decision to increase testing The Prime Minister responded with: "Without knowing the numbers and where the virus is at its worst, it becomes difficult as a government to make the right decisions and communicating with the local governments about their situation."
The Prime Minister finished the interview with a statement: "We have invited our Skarlagen colleagues to discuss a mutual plan to address covid 19 and share resources with each other where and when necessary."

The Laverian Health Institution estimates the new restrictions to have a slow but snowballing effect which will decrease their prediction of 50% of the population getting infected at least once.

You are the one who needs to find an actual argument besides whataboutism.

Like you also said, any power can corrupt an individual. So if someone holds power but does good thing, then it's a sure sign that they'd be able to do good anyways.

Venezuela's so-called "socialist" leaders in general have been pretty bad at actually being socialist.

Socialism calls for more democracy, and yet Venezuela has become less democratic. Socialism demands worker representation, yet Maduro leads a police state to silence the population. Socialism wants to abolish unfair inequality, yet Maduro has created a rich ruling elite white the populace starves in the streets.

It's sad, and frankly, it disgusts me.

Again, more whataboutism through saying "well what about people who did good with power?"

In fact, I'd like to ask: where are these so-called "good" dictators? I'd like to see your list. People with limited power don't count, and I will make sure of such.

You've continued to go in circles with this argument, continually saying "some people were good therefore my system works!" without realizing the nature of absolute power.

And let it be known in the records that anti-vaxxers were not stopped until a disease came back and wiped them out, causing people to vaccinate. That is the only reason I hold the opinion on conspiracy theorists that I do now.

So just because we can't change their belief we should just leave them to death because they're apparently a lost cause? Don't you think that defeatist attitude of yours is... sick?

I'll just say that—having temporarily worked for the Red Cross—healthcare workers have an ethical contract to give an impartial treatment to all kinds of patients regardless of their background, and that includes anti-maskers.
