Welcome to the region of Esportiva, the youngest of the three big sporting regions. We are a friendly region who are big fans of sport, and new nations, of course, are always welcome. There are a few trophies in our cabinet already, but we're always looking for some additional silverware.

Esportiva Regional Message Board

Hello everyone. So I have been giving it some thought and after a while I decided that I am going to retire Gadirya from NS Sport related events both international and regional starting now. Mainly because I don't have an interest in NS Sports anymore and have a severe lack of time due to college. I will still stick around Nationstates though, but this time with a new nation located in Esquarium called Acworth. So if you want to chat or send funnies to me contact Acworth. I will try to stay on Esper but my track record so far has poor... Hah.

Anyways, good luck with everything guys. I hope y'all continue to win WCs, CEs (obviously), UICAs, and everything else under the sun. I will be always rooting for y'all. Thanks for all the good memories and great storylines. Until next time.

FELIXXXX! NOOOOO!

Adiós, mi amigo. We'll miss you.

My two cents is that leagues can submit any team to the CEdC alongside their champions as long as said team qualify on sporting merit.

  • Traditional European-style leagues might submit their runners-up, a cup winner or the winners of a qualifying play-off (iirc, SJG used to use this last format).

  • Leagues that decide the championship by play-off might submit the losing finalists or regular season winner.

  • Apertura-Clausura leagues would naturally submit the winners of each section. (This is the Soltsteedish format.)

As far as I am concerned, how each association decides qualification is their prerogative outside the obvious sporting merit clause.

Damukuni

Sorry if this is obvious, but what's the procedure for submitting a team to the CEdC?

Right, this might be quite lengthy, so apologies, but a couple of points RE rankings from the regional rank compiler for people's attention.

1) A note on the ranks. I've noticed the last time I updated that the ranks seem very heavily balanced towards the KPB ranks. For example. The current formula is 2/3rds CE rank + 1/3 KPB.

Take a team which wins three tournaments in a row, not losing a single game (the max rank someone could get). That would give a total ranking of 21*(2/3) = 14
Take the current rank of NSI, the highest in KPB and add that in: 18.03333

The average rank for the top echelon of CE teams (consistently like QFs or higher) is around 12, which would correspond to about having a rank of 36 in the KPB (currently 11th). If you don't perform so consistently well in the CE then that number will go down and so you'd need a lower KPB.

I think this has cause the staleness in the competition with basically the same teams going far every time (NSI, Neph, SJG, Bren). I know Neph and SJG have left which will open things up, but perhaps from next CE the rankings could be rebalanced further in favour of CE performance? Maybe take 3/4 of CE rank and 1/4 KPB?

That would change a perfect CE rank to go to: 15.75
And NSI's rank (KPB 1) to go to: 13.525

Which seem a more reasonable balancing for me? (largely copied from a TG I sent to NSI a couple of weeks ago).

2) With Boring Paradise's interesting knock-outs configuration (not against it, just its a bit difficult to deal with from a rank making point of view), I was thinking of updating the rankings with the winners knockout only up to the Winner's Final stage. Is everyone ok with that? (Discussion is encouraged)

tl;dr I want to change the CE/KPB rank weightings slightly and only use winners knock-outs for ranks for this CE.

1) I do agree with having 75-25 ratio for rankings
2) I was going to suggest the same thing when I realized there were rankings I forgot about.

All right, ladies and gentlemen, with UICA wrapped up, the actual submission deadline for the 24th Campionato Esportivano di Campeones is now past.
