Representative Dara will abstain from voting. The Orson Empire cannot, in good conscience, vote to recognize the traitorous Rachinsky government. However, since recognition of the Tsar's government will be maintained, Dara will not attempt to block the resolution.

The Confederation Fully backs the resolution.

The Orson Empire

Sensors have detected that the Malians have begun taking far more detailed topographical scans of the Front lines as spies report that some MLRS Targeting computers have been brought into SITI's Government Projects Division under heavy guard. It seems they are planning to modify their targeting computers to also be fed topographical data so that they can determine based upon the position of enemy forces and the traits of the terrain relative to the trajectory of the rocket fire at what point the rockets would cross into line of sight of Orsonian defenses and be at risk of interception.

Given the Malians' large stockpile of Cluster rockets, likely they will use this data to set their fuses to deploy the sub-munitions early so that defense grids cannot effectively intercept them. While this is an alarming development as it means the immense power of MLRS cluster rockets can be brought to bear once again on modern battlefields which bodes ill for the already high casualty rates of the Orsonian Imperial Army, it isn't as dire as projections were from before modern defense grids were developed as previously a single MLRS battery could easily wipe out everybody in a square kilometer area in a single barrage -- now the early dispersal of sub-munitions increases the area the munitions are spread across significantly decreasing the damage inflicted but still the damage would be more significant than gun artillery could manage without defense grids.

If the Orsonians could themselves do this upgrade on their own Multiple Launch Rocket Systems before the Malians can complete their upgrade they would have a temporary massive advantage in artillery support over the Malians to help counter the two to one advantage in manpower the Malians have in the field.

Stanislav Galkin, the Tsar's Ambassador to the UCP, has vigorously protested the resolution currently on the floor. Calling it an "egregious violation of Lucijan sovereignty" and a "shameless example of imperial pretension", Galkin has voted AGAINST the granting of observer status to an exiled criminal and traitor with no right to govern. Ambassadors have been recalled from both Wagondia and the West Africa Confederation, as the Tsar weighs leveling 100% tariffs and freezing the assets of both countries in Santa Lucija.

Meanwhile, Rachinsky's government has made plans to relocate from Dakar (their present location within the West Africa Confederation) to Paris, where they can work more closelt with the UCP's European office and enjoy the protections of Timmian neutrality.

Post self-deleted by Oceara.

After some consideration, Formosan Representative Richard Graham will abstain from voting. Similarly to the Timmians, the Republic is neither against the Tsar or for the Rebel Opposition. The general belief within Taipei is that it would be best to avoid endangering the fairly neutral relations between Lucija and Formosa, especially since the nation serves as one of Formosa's largest suppliers of oil and steel.

This useful information gathered by spies from the Office of Army Intelligence (OAI) would be reported to both Imperial High Command and Orson Strategic Command (STRATCOM), and would be used to fast-track the already planned upgrades for all Orsonian rocket artillery. To successfully break through the Malian anti-missile defenses, STRATCOM would provide the Imperial Army with access to its own quantum computer. This computer (and its associated artificial intelligence) was based off of the "Monolith", a quantum computer designed by the Formosan dataDyne corporation for the Ministry of State Security; the Monolith was currently used to control the Empire's mass surveillance and social credit programs. Essentially, the computer's artificial intelligence would be used to determine the most ideal time for the rockets to fire (based on countless datapoints and intelligence regarding the enemy positions and their anti-air/anti-missile systems gathered over the past nine months), drastically lowering the chance of a missile being shot down. The necessary upgrades were planned to be completed within two weeks at most, and if successful, would drastically level the playing field between the Malians and Orsonians and possibly allow for a major offensive (at least until the Malian's themselves deployed their own upgrades).

Meanwhile, the Malian troops would notice that Orsonian forces were beginning to withdrawn in force from the Niamey salient, located at the border between Niger and Mali/Burkina Faso. Artillery batteries were being pulled back, air strips and military bases were demolished, and bunkers were detonated with massive bunker busting explosives (to prevent the enemy from using them); millions of land mines were deployed as the Imperial forces retreated deep into Niger, to make any potential enemy advance for both infantry and armor treacherous. The withdrawal had started as early as August 20th (with troops near the rear formations going first), but Imperial troops were now retreating in massive numbers, and large swaths of land near the border were left abandoned. Malian spies would report that Bran Jaina had ordered the Niamey salient to be totally abandoned. Over the course of the war, the salient had become indefensible- it was surrounded by enemy territory on all sides, and the Imperials were significantly outnumbered in the region, costing the Orsonians dearly to stop every attack made by the Malians. The lines and bases near the border were not planned with long-term defense in mind, as they were meant to be temporary positions that would support a massive Orsonian advance into Mali, according to the Grand Plan. These planned offensives had all failed; the Malians managed to withstand the massive Starburst MIRV attack at the beginning of the war that was meant to quickly break through the Malian defenses, and had an army of ten million soldiers in the field within weeks of the war's beginning; Jaina predicted that, at the current casualty rate and with the current strategic situation in mind, the Niamey salient would be overrun within six months.

As such, all forces were pulling back to the far more defensible Sanam Line, 360 kilometers to the northeast of the border (named after the town of Sanam, which sits behind the line and is the location of Jaina's primary headquarters). The Sanam Line was a massive complex of bunkers, trenches, bases, airstrips, and missile silos stretching for 220 kilometers between Niger and Mali; this line connected to the Malian border defenses in northern Niger, and also connected to the Nigerian Line in the south. The Niamey salient had been recognized as a weakpoint by both Turner and High Command, and the line was constructed as an area where Imperial forces could fall back to if necessary, and as the primary defensive line for the majority of Niger. Local police departments and the Niger Territorial Force had been conducting the evacuations of dozens of towns and villages in the salient since August 1st; assistance from the Nigerian Territorial Force and the Kinshasa Defense Force was also provided to these refugees. The largest priority was the city of Niamey, capital of the territory and the home of 1.5 million people. The entirety of the government had been relocated to Sanam, while tens of thousands of the city's residents were being evacuated on a weekly basis. All trains, buses, airplanes, and any remaining cars within the city had been commandeered by the Imperial Army in hopes of speeding up the evacuation. Several thousand stubborn residents refused to leave and chose to stock up on food and supplies and remain within their home; the Imperials allowed them to do so, but they were on their own once the Malians arrived. Once the city was completely evacuated, all power plants, bridges, rail lines, and the airport were going to be destroyed, and very little of anything valuable would be left for the Malians. All farm land in the salient would be burned or plowed over, and all farm animals would be slaughtered.

Unknown to Malian spies, Jaina was preparing to begin a new plan- the "Southern Strategy". Rather than attempt a direct advance towards Gao and Segou (as the original strategy dictated), Jaina would instead concentrate his forces along the Nigerian border in the south, with the goal of occupying the cities of Porto-Novo, Lome, and Accra, and advancing as far west as the Ivory Coast by September 2021. Millions of reinforcements were being brought up from the African interior as the territories there complied with the harsh Imperial conscription requirements. The total forces in the Malian theater were to increase to 8,000,000, and an additional Marshal would be assigned to the theater to aid Jaina in commanding the additional forces (much to Jaina's annoyance, as he wanted to retain sole control over the entire theater).

Considering the expected Orsonian veto, Guiracocha has decided to remove that particular vote from the table, and, following the suggestion of the Timmian delegation, has instead moved for both governments to be represented. This motion is expected to pass, which it is required to do by a simple majority, though the fate of the resolution is effectively dependent on the 'middle ground' of Formosa, Timmy City, and the Cybusian Empire. UCP Secretary-General Kester Mavanga has expressed his support for this compromise, as it will avoid totally isolating the Tsar and cutting the Lucijan people off from critical humanitarian and development assistance.

Foreign Minister India Gonzaba-Helou has insisted that the Wagain government remains fully committed to the Rachinsky government-in-exile. We are pleased to see that the West Africa Confederation stands beside us in solidarity with the oppressed and disenfranchised Lucijan people, and continue to encourage all free nations to join the international bloc against the Tsar.

UCP Representative Whaite has voted in favor of this measure.

Francisco D'Anconia continues to vigorously campaign for the Rachinsky government, going on whistle-stop tours via The Spirit of Santiago and showing images of wounded protesters to try to earn moral support. In addition, his personal social media platforms are being filled with shows of support for the Rachinsky government and delivering impassioned speeches about the brutality of Tsar Alexander and his ally, Emperor Turner. The Wagain-Cybusian industrialist is on the warpath and shows no signs of letting up his public relations blitz any time soon. He has even purchased billboards in Wagain cities, as well as Berlin, Konigsburg, Hamburg, and other German cities, showing a stylized image of chains being broken by a hand emblazoned with the Rachinsky government's symbol, the Cybusian flag, and the Wagain flag, with slogans such as "Break the chains of the Tsar's tyranny; support the severing of relations with Santa Luijca."
He has also begun to try to persuade the Cybusian ambassador to the Wagain Empire, Ambassador Dimitri Black, as well as various Cybusian socialites and prominent figures.

Confederate Forces have slowed their field operations involving the salient and seem content to wait for the Orsonians to complete their retreat, but have begun moving more rocket artillery into the region as well as starting to bring forward railway troops, army engineers, and stockpiles of railway track & other construction materials to blast corridors through the minefields using rocket artillery and then install rails to allow for resupply and redeployment through the region to allow it to be secured and for the Allied lines to be moved up even before the mines are mostly swept.

Does your nation utilize diplomatic flags?

Currently used by only two nations IRL (Thailand and the United Kingdom), diplomatic flags are flown outside embassies and consulates abroad. Distinct from national flags, they typically incorporate special imagery which distinguishes the rank or purpose of the mission.

Wagondia's diplomatic flag is flown over each of our 288 overseas diplomatic missions, and outside foreign ministry buildings nationwide. The flag itself consists of the imperial coat of arms laid over a white background, with olive branches replacing the usual coffee and tobacco boughs. As the number of Wagain diplomatic missions has increased dramatically in the past few decades, the flag has become a symbol of Wagain soft power, and commonly represents our culture, commerce, and influence at formal events.

The Empire does not possess a diplomatic flag.

(Great work on the flag Novo!)

2015:
Didact Nicholas Ruthven has proposed the Human Equality Act, which will take measures to ensure every establishment or company across the Empire strives to accommodate Humans, be it by employing them (if the circumstances permit additional employees, or by replacing less efficient ones), very clearly indicating if a product is Evolved-only (Evolved-standard alcohol would almost certainly poison a Human, for example) and offering Human accessible equivalents where possible, and generally taking them into account when designing or planning things.
In the Empire, it is not uncommon for Humans to be employed for mostly short term or lower level jobs , because of the popular perception that Humans die very early in life (which, compared to Evolved, this is true, but Human lifespan is increasing), creating fears of having to quickly (relative to an Evolved) replace a worker after expanding a great deal of time and resources on them and creating a gap that cannot be filled as easily if they occupied an important position. The Act seeks to try to remedy that. Another concern is that Humans are near universally considered to be “fragile” or “weak”, and employers are hesitant to hire them if there is any chance of an accident, and bars sometimes restrict Human access on the basis that if they pick a fight with an Evolved, a single punch could quite literally kill them.

(This is one of the few times Ruthven’s proposed laws have no ulterior motive on behalf of the Pact.

Thank you!

Another little question I have for everybody, inspired by a stream of consciousness I had today: what inspired your choice of a national name?

‘Wagondia’ is actually a really old concept in my life, and I can remember making maps and writing stories about Wagondia well before I consolidated it as a NS account. The name itself is pretty much gibberish, and laughably out of place for a nation of elegant romantic dialects, but I’ve always liked it. Wagondia has always been vaguely located in South America (usually coterminous with Brazil), but originally had a very strange mix of Native American (yes, like Iroquois) and English place names. It was a complete mess culturally, which only began to be sorted out as I began to ‘hispanicize’ the whole project. Santa Catalina is a good indication of this, as it used to be rather unattractively called Swamp Arbor.

When I first joined I was basing my nation off of the Cybus Industries Cybermen, so I named it Cybus, and added the 1 because I thought it sounded more robotic. Then I merged Prototype in there. Over the years the Empire became its own thing, ultimately becoming what it is today.
So, yeah, there’s no special meaning behind the name. Part of wants to change it, but I’m not sure what else I would choose, other than maybe The Alexandrian Empire, but that sounds a tad...I dunno, odd, to me.

The Act is meeting with stiff resistance from Imperialists and Objectivists, who oppose the idea of singling out any species for “promotion”, but has extensive support among the Progressives.

I’m really quite a fan of the ‘Cybusian’ moniker. It’s become such a staple of regional lore that it’s hard to imagine anything else in its place. I think there are elements of both futurism and old world empire in the name, which aptly describes your IC persona.

Out of curiosity, how do you pronounce it? Do you emphasize the ‘u’, as in ‘Sye-Bue-Jun’, or is it a softer ‘Sye-Boo-Jun’?

Ruthven’s Bill has been widely celebrated by Wagains across the political spectrum, who view it as a necessary assertion of civil equality in the empire. Commentators have praised the bill’s flexible provisions, which will allow businesses to accommodate humans in the most efficient manner open to them. A more politically, socially, and economically engaged human population will become a stronger and more stable labor force, bringing prosperity to all echelons of society. As they are given the freedom to improve their economic position and accumulate generational wealth, humans will become a key consumer demographic, and ambassadors for Cybusian goods abroad.

The Formosan Republic has a diplomatic flag of its own that comes in two variations, both of which consist of the Republic Sigil centered within a circle and cross.

Although I don't know exactly why, I originally based this nation off of the planet Felucia from Star Wars. I of course built up everything from there, but I've branched off from that for a while now (especially since the change in canon) and have ended up with Taiwan as the basis for my nation.

I generally pronounce it as “Sye-bus-ien”, but the b is soft, not hard. Not silent, but soft. Due to my Southern accent, the u comes across as a tad more like a y than a u when I say it.

Ruthven has championed these points, also pointing out that greater equality with the primarily Evolved or Orsonian population will lead to greater patriotic sentiment and could also increase tourist revenue from Human majority nations, attempting to win over the business-oriented Objectivists and the expansionist and nationalistic Imperialists.
Francisco D’Anconia has begun another public relations campaign across the Cybusian Empire. The popular and eccentric human is an excellent spokesperson for the bill, since he is a very strong proponent of individual rights and equality. He had stated that while the concept of singling out a group for legislation is not something he enjoys, he recognizes that this will pave the way for greater human representation in the business world, and allow his species to become more influential in the empire as a whole. He has been spotted on Arcadia many times, at Spiro’s, public events, Friday Evening Discourses at The Arcadian Academy of Sciences, and has visited a great many alcazars in the Varykino region, trying to win over their noble or otherwise influential inhabitants with his charm and sheer force of will.

The Sironian Republic is a Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy found within the 10000 ISLANDS. Its homeworld of Skedoria, formerly known as Sirona, is located within the Ilaeris System in the Scutum-Centaurus Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. Other territories of the Republic, typically entire star systems, are spread throughout the Milky Way as mobile space platforms belonging to the Republic can be found beyond the galactic rim. To maintain and stabilize its economy, the Republic relies on trade and the use of its own services across its territories and beyond; often partaking in a variety of trade deals internationally in order to expand its influence.

Etymology

The name of the Republic and its people was based on the original name given to the planet Skedoria. In ancient times, long before the Skedorian-Toraxian War, Skedoria had once been known as Sirona by the natives of the planet (with the term having originated from the continent of Torax). The planet was eventually renamed by the Skedorians in honor of themselves following their victory over the Toraxians in the Skedorian-Toraxian War, with the action being made as an expression of their superiority over their rivals. Following the end of the Maian-Skedar War in 2023, and the removal of the Holy Skedar Empire's fanatical government, the Toraxians stepped in to aid their former rivals in rebuilding Skedoria from the ground up. With the eventual unification of the two species and the establishment of a new government, the union was named the Sironian Republic in remembrance of the peaceful times from before their ancient rivalry began. Officially, the term "Sironian" may be used in reference to the inhabitants of the Republic, however it is not uncommon for citizens to refer to themselves by the demonym of their homeworld or country.

History

After nearly four centuries, the war between the Holy Skedar Empire and the Maian Federation came to an end in 2023. The Imperial government was forcibly removed by the Maians following the death of the King and his clones, leaving the citizens to rebuild their society without the guidance of their former leaders. As the nation was being reformed, the Skedar were approached by the Toraxian Confederation in an attempt to formally bring an end to their ancient rivalry once and for all. Despite having been forced from the planet centuries ago, the Toraxians felt some remorse for the Imperial citizens and offered aid to the Skedar in their time of need. Not wanting to turn down any support offered to them, the Skedar openly embraced the Toraxians and made peace with their former rivals, allowing both species to cooperate for the first time in history. One of the top priorities for both the Skedar and Toraxians was to form a new government that was not ruled by fanatical beliefs, but by laws that progressed society for the better while ensuring that its citizens were truly equal.

By the end of the year a new nation was formed between the two unifying species that kept the position of the Monarch within the executive branch of the government, however many changes were made to limit the powers of the throne. Among the most notable changes made were the decisions to have the Monarch serve as the Head of State while a Prime Minister served as the Head of Government, and to leave the position as one that would have to be earned through an election rather than by the bloodline of an individual or by the appointment of the acting King or Queen (a process in which the Holy Skedar Empire selected its future Monarchs). The first Monarch to be elected by the public was a female of the Skedar race named Tal'Navi, who planned on terraforming the planet of Skedoria with the help of their new allies and to increase the political and civil rights of the population. Shortly after her election, the union between the Skedar and Toraxians officially became known as the Sironian Republic in remembrance of the peaceful times before their ancient rivalry.

In 2024, the Republic held its first election for the newly established Parliament, adding members from multiple political parties to the National Assembly as the Queen appointed members to the High Council. Then, from the National Assembly, Queen Tal'Navi appointed the Toraxian politician Akku Nilles of the Progressive Party as the nation's first Prime Minister. Under the supervision of Prime Minister Nilles, the Sironian Republic began a massive development program in hopes of fixing the nation's domestic problems. The program specifically touched upon issues plaguing the nation's economy and education system, though it also bolstered the nation's relatively small military. Various changes were made to the nation throughout the remainder of the decade, with tax rates being changed to be proportional to an individual's salary, multiple jobs were created that specifically targeted those that were unemployed, and it was made to be guaranteed that a free education was widely available to the civilian population of the Republic regardless of one's status within Sironian society. In 2030, alongside working to improve transportation within the nation, the Republic opened its ports to foreign nations in hopes of encouraging international trade and immigration.

The process of terraforming Skedoria was drawn out longer than originally anticipated as there were many cultural and historical sites that were under the threat of potentially being damaged or lost with the changing of the environment. The government had to work around such areas, leaving them as the planet's desert biomes, and so the remainder of the planet's surface was changed to be more more diverse. With these changes came land that was suitable for establishing new cities and farms, allowing more jobs to be opened up and for more civilians to make Skedoria their home. Through strenuous research and tests performed with samples kept during the reign of the Holy Skedar Empire, the Republic managed to bring back some of the extinct flora and fauna of Skedoria now that the planet was no longer under the constant threat of an ongoing war. This not only provided the nation with more food, but also brought the native ecosystem back into balance as some of the species were lost as a result of the mining and construction efforts of the Skedar Empire.

Geography

The Sironian Republic consists of various star systems from across the Milky Way Galaxy, typically centered around the Scutum-Centaurus and Norma Arms. The Republic capital, Skedoria, was once a desert planet renowned for its canyons and rock formations created from countless years of earthquakes, sandstorms, and hurricanes. Before this, however, Skedoria had been a thriving world teeming with all forms of life that could be found within its vast oceans and forested landscapes until a series of disastrous events altered the planet's orbit and reduced its surface to the desert wasteland that it would later be known for. Following the establishment of the Sironian Republic in 2023, the recently elected Queen Tal'Navi hoped to use the technologies shared between the former Skedar Empire and Toraxian Confederation to terraform the planet so that it would become more habitable and resemble the world it used to be. Although various locations would be spared from the terraforming process to ensure that historical and cultural sites would be unharmed, the planet's surface became more diverse and allowed for new cities and farms to be established by its inhabitants. In addition to this, the Republic utilized vaulted DNA samples of various native flora and fauna that had gone extinct as a result of the actions of the Skedar Empire and revived some of the species in order to bring some balance to the new ecosystem.

The Republic Capital of Skedoria prior to its terraformation.

As the second planet of the Ilaeris System, Skedoria remains relatively close to its parent stars (Kaepris, Aetheria, and Dra'Koa). It has two moons of its own (Eri'Solus and Eri'Kosa) that are visible throughout various points of the day and once held military facilities that served as a line of defense in case the planet was under the threat of being invaded. These installations were eventually lost during the Siege of Skedoria and have since been replaced with domed cities that serve as minor tourist destinations due to their luxurious lifestyle and wonderful view of the Capital. A majority of Skedoria's mountain ranges are located within the southern hemisphere, though the largest mountain range (the Orre Mountains) is located within the northern territories of the eastern hemisphere. Mount Sirona, the tallest mountain on the planet (standing at an elevation of 6.2 kilometers), is part of the Orre Mountain range and makes up part of the trio of mountains referred to by many as the "Burning Peaks of Orre". These mountains (Sirona, Lumia, and Kyrat) are notable for their peaks made of a chalk-like sedimentary rock that reflects the light from the three suns at noon, making them appear as an extra set of stars burning in the Skedorian sky. During the reign of the Skedorian Empire, the Orre Mountains were mined for various resources, particularly radioactive ore and crystals with extreme light refraction capabilities, until the mines were converted into a massive research facility during the reign of the Holy Skedar Empire. This facility is still used by the Sironian Republic to this day, however further development within the mountains has been prohibited by the government as the Orre Mountains became officially designated as a national park by the Sironian National Park Service in 2025.

Following the terraformation of its surface, Skedoria has become covered in vast oceans and forests. The global ocean of Sirona is divided into a number of of principle oceanic areas: these divisions are the Andosan Ocean, Grandia Ocean, Ituset Ocean, and the Nelliqo Ocean. In turn, these oceanic waters are interspersed by many smaller seas, gulfs, and bays. The most notable of these bodies of water is the Sanguine Sea, which sits along the continent of Skedore as part of the Grandia Ocean (the largest on the planet) and serves as the home of Reaper's Trench, an oceanic trench reaching a depth of 9.7 kilometers (making it the deepest point on Skedoria). The Skedorian capital of Republic City sits along the coastline of the Sanguine Sea and used to overlook part of Reaper's Trench before the planet was terraformed. A vast majority of the planet's native flora and fauna exist on the surface, as the Republic has yet to bring many aquatic lifeforms back to Skedoria. Among the most notable plant life on the surface are the Eanolia, Kaepir, and Ihk'Apor trees, which vary in size and shape but provide much to the local wildlife and Skedorian citizens, while various fruits and vegetables also exist and grow throughout the year. These include Cynder Berries (small raspberry-like fruit that are golden in color and have a sweet yet sour flavor, but are extremely spicy when unripened), the fruit of the Ihk'Apor trees (simply referred to as Ihk'Apor; a coconut-like fruit that is typically beloved for the water that is stored inside), Eovats (a starchy vegetable that is similar to potatoes and is served in countless Skedorian dishes), and Orridines (an herb that is similar to Coriander/Cilantro, but lacks the aldehydes that give it its controversial flavoring). Of the various species of animals to exist on the planet's surface, most were reptilian in nature for a time until the Sironian Republic began to introduce species from nearby systems to the planet after its terraformation. Among the most notable of the native animal species are the Andosan Monitor Lizard (formerly known as the Kopuar), the Steel-clawed Raptor (formerly known as the Qaatsing), the Mandible-faced Sand Dragon (formerly known as the Ilautso), and the Sironian Starbird (formerly known as the Sikkan).

Demographics

Population

Throughout the history of the Skedar and Toraxians, both species have been known for being able to produce multiple offspring at a time, causing for their populations to grow drastically. Similarly to other reptilian species, both the Skedar and Toraxians reproduce sexually; after an incubation period of roughly nine months (the average time span for the development of the embryo until hatching), females lay clutches of fertilized eggs (which often vary in number) and protect them without end until they hatch. In the past, female Skedar typically laid clutches of up to fifteen eggs at a time, though a royal decree by King Temet'Soa of the Skedorian Empire forced the female population to undergo genetic modifications that lowered their ability to produce eggs in order to prevent overpopulation. Although it was a highly controversial move, it was found to be successful as females began to lay an average of five eggs per year (though outliers did exist across the Empire in small numbers where females produced over twice that amount). A similar process occurred with the Toraxians, however this caused massive riots by fanatical organizations that valued genetic purity. By the end of the Maian-Skedar War in 2023, the entire population of the Holy Skedar Empire was estimated to be approximately 8.5 Billion by the Imperial Census Bureau, though there were some estimates that placed it at even larger numbers. At the same time, the Toraxian Confederation estimated its population to be roughly 17.4 Billion before the formation of the Sironian Republic. Following the merger of the Toraxian Confederation and the remnants of the Holy Skedar Empire, the newly established Sironian Republic had an estimated population of 25.9 Billion. By the end of the 2030's, due to the average national birth rate (as well as the assimilation of a sparsely populated dwarf planet), the population of the Republic would grow to nearly 32.7 Billion.

The cities and towns of Skedoria can be found in various locations across its surface, with most of its oldest cities being found along the mountain ranges of the south and the coastlines bordering the Grandia and Andosan Oceans. For centuries, the planet typically had cities that were enclosed within large dome-like structures that were used to protect them from the harsh desert landscape of Skedoria's surface, with various roadways and underground tunnels being used to connect them to one another. Most of these cities often required water and food sources to be imported from offworld or from cities that provided their own sources of water and vegetation, which were typically the largest and most historically import cities found on the planet. Following the terraformation of the planet, many cities have been built across the surface in locations that were never imaginable in the past, with various coastal cities being used to house aquatic ports/docks and allowing for the inhabitants of the planet to experience fishing for the first time on Skedoria. The Skedorian capital, Republic City, is one of these coastal cities as it is located along the Sanguine Sea, therefore allowing many inhabitants to get jobs working in said ports/docks and lowering the city's unemployment rate. Due to its importance in Skedorian history, the city was one of the only few to be directly connected to the Holy Temple, which served as the capital of the Holy Skedar Empire for a time (until its destruction in the Siege of Skedoria), and even served as one of the only few cities on the planet to contain a natural source of water and vegetation before the surface was terraformed. For most of its history, the city made a large portion of its income by supplying other towns and cities with food and water, though this process slowed down drastically as time went on.

Language

Skedorian (specifically, Simplified Skedorian) is the de facto national language of the Sironian Republic. Although there is no official language at the federal level, some laws standardize Skedorian. The language originated as a form of primitive verbal communication that is commonly referred to as Ancient Skedorian (or Primordial Skedorian, alternatively), which consisted of many growls, trills, and groans that were not capable of being produced by most species (as the Skedar have unique vocal chords that produce a wide range of sounds that only few species can replicate naturally) and was therefore replaced by a newer spoken language that was capable of being widely used regardless of one's species. This language was eventually split into two forms (Traditional and Simplified) that could be easily learned and spoken by most citizens of the then Skedorian and Holy Skedar Empires, as well as by non-native speakers, though the Skedar were no strangers to picking up foreign languages for use in their daily lives. As a result of the Holy Skedar Empire and Toraxian Confederation merging together to form the Sironian Republic, various forms of the Toraxian Language came to be used by the civilian population, though Skedorian was the preferred language to use in conversations, leading for large portions of the Toraxian population of the Republic to learn the language for their own use.

Religion

The Constitution of the Sironian Republic guarantees freedom of religion as a right of all its citizens, about 63.2% of which identified as religious believers during the 2030's. The Sironian recognizes multiple religions which are registered with the Civil Affairs Department of the Ministry of the Interior (MOI), though cracks down upon those which have been proven to act as cult-like organizations. As a result of the actions performed when the Skedar were ruled by a fanatical government that made Jaalism mandatory for all acting members of government and the soldiers of the Imperial Military, the Republic does not want such organizations to come to power. Although the religion has become all but lost, the Skedar population has gone to great lengths to prevent its reemergence and the rise of similar belief systems.

Race

The LinkSkedar are an advanced race of reptilian-like beings that have evolved significantly on a technological scale throughout history. Physically similar in size as a household cat, the Skedar are quick and nimble, but leave much to be desired in terms of physical strength. To make up for their small stature in combat, they created large Bio-Mechanical suits of armor that are far more powerful and faster than the average human, with the added benefit of containing an on-board cloaking device for stealth operations. Typically reserved for Skedar troops within the Military, the bio-mech suits vary in size depending on the rank of the individual soldier and are of varying shades of brown depending on the service branch they operate under. While Civilians are generally unable to acquire a bio-mech suit, police forces are allowed to use a variant of the design and the leaders of the acting Government use specialized suits that signify their role within the Skedar society.

The LinkToraxians are an advanced race of tripedal, Reptilian-like beings that evolved alongside the Skedar for a time and are very similar to their former rivals in various ways. With the exception of their third leg (which is believed to have evolved from a tail), the Toraxians are physically similar to the Skedar and often utilize bio-mechanical suits of armor to make up for their small stature in combat. They are capable of withstanding extreme climatic conditions and are able to work in conditions that would often be considered deadly to other species. A unique feature of the Toraxians that sets them apart from the Skedar is their naturally occurring telepathic abilities, which allows them to communicate with others without necessarily having to rely on vocal communication. On a social level, the Toraxians are known for their kindness and respect, though they may often appear to come off as extremely brash and arrogant to those that have never met them before.

Government

The Citadel of Ilaeris, meeting place of the Sironian Parliament, during the reign of the Skedar Empire.

The Sironian Republic is a federal state under a constitutional monarchy. Queen Tal'Navi is the reigning monarch and head of state of the Republic, and has "the right to be consulted, the right to encourage, and the right to warn". The Republic is a nation "in which majority rule is tempered by minority rights protected by law." In the Sironian federalist system, citizens are usually subject to three levels of government: federal, planetary, and local. The local government's duties are commonly split between county and municipal Governments. In almost all cases, executive and legislative officials are elected by a plurality vote of citizens by district. The government is regulated by a system of checks and balances defined by the Sironian Constitution, which serves as the country's supreme legal document. The Constitution establishes the structure and responsibilities of the federal government and its relationship with the individual planets, and forms the central basis of Sironians' individual rights. All laws and governmental procedures are subject to judicial review and any law ruled by the courts to be in violation of the Constitution is voided. The principle of judicial review, not explicitly mentioned in the Constitution, was established by the Supreme Court in a decision handed down by Chief Justice Ira Irshujo.

The federal government comprises three branches:

  • Legislative: The Sironian Parliament, which meets in the Citadel of Ilaeris, is made up of two houses: an elected National Assembly and an appointed High Council. The Sironian Parliament makes federal law (following judicial review, all bills passed are given Royal Assent before becoming law), declares war, approves treaties, has the power of the purse, and has the power of impeachment, by which it can remove sitting members of the government.

  • Executive: The Queen is the Commander-in-Chief of the military, can veto legislative bills before they become law (subject to congressional override), appoints the members of the High Council and the Prime Minister of the Republic. The position of Prime Minister, the Republic's head of government, belongs to the person most likely to command the confidence of the National Assembly; this individual is typically the leader of the political part or coalition that holds the largest number of seats in that chamber. The Prime Minister chooses a cabinet and its members are formally appointed by the Monarch to form His/Her Majesty's Government. By convention, the monarch respects the Prime Minister's decisions of government. The Cabinet is traditionally drawn from members of the Prime Minister's party or coalition and mostly from the National Assembly but always from both legislative houses, the Cabinet being responsible to both. Executive power is exercised by the Prime Minister and Cabinet, all of whom are sworn into the Privy Council of the Sironian Republic, and become Ministers of the Crown. The current Prime Minister is Akku Nilles, who has been in office since 2024. For elections to the National Assembly, the Republic is divided into multiple electoral districts, each electing a single member of parliament (MP) by simply plurality. General elections are called by the Monarch when the Prime Minister so advises, though it is required that a new election be called no later than four years after the previous general election.

  • Judicial: The Supreme Court and lower federal courts, whose judges are appointed by the Prime Minister with the approval of the High Council, interpret laws and overturn those they find unconstitutional.

The National Assembly has various voting members, each representing a congressional district for a two year term. Assembly seats are apportioned among the planets of the Republic by population. Each planet then draws single-member districts to conform with the census apportionment. Within the High Council, each planet has two Council Members, appointed at-large to six-year terms; one-third of Council seats are up for appointment every two years. Within the Supreme Court, eight of the fiteen Grand Justices (including the Premier and Vice Premier of the Supreme Court) serve four year terms while the remaining members serve eight year terms. Although the monarch may serve until death or his/her abdication of the throne, the Sironian Republic may remove its reigning monarch if the nation deems it fit. If the monarch is impeached or if a vote of no confidence is successful against the monarch in question, they would thereby be removed from the throne and a new election would be held to fill the position that has been left open as a result. Generally speaking, officials that have been removed from office due to a vote of no confidence or impeachment may be qualified to run for a political office in a future election, though various temporary/permanent restrictions may be placed on them.

Foreign Relations & Military

Although it does not have a strong presence (both politically and militarily) on an international level, the Sironian Republic attempted to begin relations with foreign nations in 2030 by opening its ports in order to encourage international trade and immigration. It carries out its diplomatic missions through a Minister of Foreign Affairs, who carefully selects diplomats to represent the Republic while operating within foreign nations. These diplomats are highly successful at what they do and often go out of their way to ensure that the Republic maintains its position with its allies. Meanwhile, the Republic Military mainly consists of warships, soldiers, and materiel from before the establishment of the nation (typically from the Armed Forces of the Holy Skedar Empire and the Toraxian Confederation).

Economy

Among the most important technologies within the Republic is the Warpdrive, which allows travelers to evade the constraints of relativity and travel fantastic distances in a shorter period of time. Without the Warpdrive, moving between even the closest star systems would take years or decades, traveling at near-luminal speeds makes trade difficult and costly. Warpdriven trade, in turn, enables a higher level of income per person than would be possible in a galaxy of planetary autarky. Some planets, those with a diversity of species and resources, would do well enough in a tradeless galaxy, but others would be barren without the possibility of imports from other worlds. Trade allows desolate planets to specialize in the production of valuable commodities (turning their entire surface over to farming, urbanization, etc.). Richly endowed planets gain by specializing in industries in which they enjoy the biggest comparative advantage, using some of the proceeds to obtain goods or services they are not quite as good at producing themselves. At the same time, trade allows bleaker planets to export what resources they have in exchange for the imports needed to make them habitable. As for the Republic Homeworld of Skedoria, it is one of the Republic's largest producers of minerals, metals, and fuel, often using its resources to produce various technologies (such as teleporters, personal shielding generators, personal cloaking devices, etc.) and starships, though it also remains to be one of its largest importers of agricultural goods (i.e., food), water, and medicinal supplies despite being terraformed in the 2020's and into the 2030's.

Read factbook

I've made a general overview factbook for Skedoria in its current state...though I have to stress that it's not as detailed as my factbook on the Holy Skedar Empire. Since the entire nation was based around a species from a video game, I found it easier to come up with information for their past than I did for their future, therefore it is rather lacking in certain sections.

Also, I even made a factbook on the final King of the Holy Skedar Empire, Qin'Ocheq, at one point. I may make one for the reigning monarch of the Sironian Republic, but that'll probably be down the line a bit.

That’s actually awesome Fel! Great job! I would try to do one for the Empire, but I’ve never really defined the population or borders of the Empire.

I should note that.. If human life spans in the empire are said to be 'increasing'.. That implies the main determinant of their life span is poverty preventing them from accessing the extremely advanced Cybusian healthcare that would otherwise grant them almost infinite lifespans.

Which would imply such a massive level of racism as to show active malice from the Average evolved towards the continued survival of the average Human.

This would be something the Imperialists and Objectivists in the council would be aware of in voicing their opposition to protecting the rights of humans to be employed.. That they would be continuing this poverty and the related increase in mortality from said poverty..

-- They would be knowingly increasing the mortality of a marginalized group in their nation which sounds an awful lot like genocide but with extra steps to distance the government & it's population from it's part in such deaths.

I certainly didn’t intend it that way! I meant it more like, the advanced treatments and things that drastically extend lifespan are primarily marketed and made for Evolved, almost all of which are incompatible with Human biology. The human lifespan in the Empire is still probably well over a hundred and increasing due to continued research and increased availability of human-centered life extension tech: however, Evolved can live for thousands of years and may very well work at a company for the duration of an entire human lifespan (this doesn’t happen too very often, but it’s also not uncommon), working their way up and earning promotions and raises, whereas a human employee could be employed for a comparatively short amount of time,
I hadn’t considered that aspect.

A hundred thousand years (according to Orson) the cybusians have had to develop infrastructure, nondiscrimination laws, and science for non-evolved citizens since the Orsonian Rebellion. Hundreds of years? Sounds like the Cybusians didn't allocate any research of any kind into non-evolved infrastructure and science until they Annexed Germany ~1920-1924 and went "Now what do we do with all these weird humans?"
