The raven technocracy

Technate-Colluxian “Sun Drinker” Class Weapons Platform:

A new type of weapons platform devised by the Technate and the Collux Ascendancy, the Sun Drinker is named for its unique and strange method of powering itself. It is stationed close to a star, using the energy signature to mask its presence. It uses a power collection device to siphon off power from the star to power its specialized shields and weapons.
The Sun Drinker is equipped with three weapons, intended for the Technate strategy of long range defense. It is equipped with a pair of Tachyon Arrows, and a unique Solar Cannon, which fires a bolt of concentrated plasma, with sufficient irradiation to be equal to the Technocratic Rad Cannons, but combining the impact of an extremely powerful plasma gun, capable of hitting the target from extremely long range. The constant energy supply means the Tachyon Arrows can fire every thirty minutes, making them incredibly deadly. The Sun Drinker also has an array of other weapons, such as a single long range gravimetric inducer, meant to slowly rip ships apart, as well as two Artonic Cannons, similar to the kind of used by Imperial warships.
The Sun Drinker has a set of specialized energy shields to protect it from the stars it is based around, but the station is not intended to be in combat, it’s thick hull and shields meant to protect it from the sun. In fact, the proximity to a star means the station is effectively blind, requiring special long range sensors to function, and makes extensive use of spotter ships and probes. The Sun Drinker constantly has an FTL inhibition field to prevent enemy vessels or FTL missiles from attacking the station if it is discovered, which is only dropped at predetermined times or with a specific set of passcodes to allow allied vessels to hide within and resupply and be repaired. The Technate uses them to extract energy from stars and then mass-fabricate Synths to be shipped to planets and bases in huge numbers, as well as to hold backups of AI and act as secret research posts, while the Ascendancy uses them to maintain its fleet and act as spy posts for Ascendancy Intelligence.

The Ocearan Navy has officially begun replacing its 256mm Rail-Cannon in favor of a 512mm Rail-Cannon, puzzling military analysts as replacing the guns with larger variants would make them even more useless against point defenses of modern navies as they'd be deploying fewer rounds at a slower rate and in lower volumes and increasing the interception chance of the rounds by enemy point defenses.

Surely they must know such a thing, and have a plan to bypass those concerns.

The Terran Shipwrights Guild(An international organization not tied to any country, based in Earth Orbit and centered around bringing together different civilizations' shipwrights to one spot to cooperate on making the best ships possible.) has sought a cooperation with Mr. House should he want to develop his robotics efforts into space. TSG has the experience of shipwrights from across the known universe and is known for it's ability to adapt to the needs of it's customers ranging from Corporate security vessels to the OTDI Fleet(Which is superior in quality to the normal Ocearan Navy) to private custom ships.

House has stated that RobCo has already created an autonomous spacecraft, in collaboration with Colossus Defense Engineering, in the form of the Clockwork Class Autonomous Corvette, but he is intrigued by the offer. Despite the history of association with Oceara, he understands that TSG is an independent entity. He would like to know what, specifically, they had in mind, if anything.

They think that the best way to start is to make a real power play and build not a general workhorse ship, but a mobile star base capable of optimizing the tactical thinking of billions of robots, drones, and other things simultaneously while being an extremely powerful strongpoint for the allied fleet to work around and a mobile listening post for spying on thousands of systems with precision readings at once.

Useful for Quickly Invading and conquering all planets in an entire star system simultaneously, holding onto friendly territory, being a strongpoint for the fleet to work around, and getting the intel advantage on opponents as well as influencing allied and enemy morale with it's presence. Get the enemy so worked up about it being there that they tunnel vision on getting rid of it and can be easily outsmarted and defeated.

The idea is to market it exclusively to the LPCN -- particularly the Cybusian Empire, Technate, and Ascendancy which would be the most attracted to the design. Driving up sales for RobCo robots in the billions of units very quickly and making those powers more likely to buy something with RobCo involvement over something that lacks said involvement.

The Ocearans won't like that idea in the short term, but they would also quickly realize they are indirectly benefiting from the deal. (More money to TSG means more ship production facilities, which means more orders can be placed. Ocearan Civilians very often purchase from TSG so it would overall benefit their entire economy if TSG can expand quicker. It would also encourage them to increase military orders from TSG as they'd see the value of more closely adopting TSG designs.)

Description:
The Luna Class Battleship was designed from a collaboration between the Ocearan Terran Defense Initative (OTDI) and the Terran Shipwrights Guild to create a single capital ship that can substitute for an entire planetary defense network. The ship is expertly designed to be as unthreatening as possible to prevent creating an oppressive atmosphere around the Earth, an outside observer can only tell five of it's cannons and it's 4 Mine Droppers(Designed to be used in emergencies only where Sol must be quickly fortified ahead of a massive attack). The Luna has a very large hangar but no hangar door being designed for it's fighters to use FTL Drives to jump in and out, the Luna's Remote Jump Device can also bring them back if the fighters' Jump drives are damaged. The main gun of the Luna is an Electron Beam Cannon that will reduce anything in it's path to Neutrons and Radiation.

The Advantage of the Luna over other classes of ships used by the Ocearans is that most of it's weapons systems are internal keeping them safe from enemy fire. It's 200 Titan-class PRCs can punch through and destroy very large and powerful warships while it's impressive array of 4,000 Capital-Class PRCs can cut swaths through whole fleets while the Array of 6,000 Fighter-class PRCs protect the ship and allied forces from strikecraft, missiles, solid munitions, and some energy blasts. To defeat stealth ships it has a Subatomic Diassassembly Field Generator to rip apart stealth ships on the subatomic level that get into the field.

Visually the Luna is quite unlike any ship in Ocearan Service, being made of a number of Geometric Shapes but mostly Triangular ones tapering off towards the front and back with the center being the largest point. It has an almost chrome-like finish with Cyan Lighting for Highlights being designed to look impressive without showing a lot of weapons.

The Luna can also project a Planetary Shield to protect the Earth from Attacks, to top off everything the Luna's advanced psywave technology can siphon Psychic energy from psionic attacks and convert it to electricity to help power it's systems turning an incredibly dangerous situation into a slight benefit for allied forces.

Depending on if House goes with TSG's plan and it works out giving the LPCN even more powerful assets, the Ocearans may start a process of phasing out it's Terra Class Battleships in favor of the Luna Class to help close the gap.

An act exclusive to Ancients, bodyhopping is a hidden bit of vampire lore, known by few, practiced by fewer. The act of body hopping requires a suitable body to be prepared, in the form of being infected, several magical sigils drawn on the host. Then the host is drained of blood, and, in an act which is invariably fatal to the Ancient, all of the white Drakul blood is forced outward, through the stinger, into the host body. This, in conjunction with the magic, transfers their consciousness into the new body. Exceptionally rare, the art of bodyswapping is known only to a few Ancients, chief among them Thrax. He regularly switches bodies, out of his fear of being discovered.

Thrax has secretly started hiding any tomes in the Sanguine Pacts vast library of vampire and occult lore that teaches how to bodyswap, preserving them, but keeping them hidden so he alone can teach members the arcane ritual.

With the announcement of the Ocearan ultimatum, a delegation under Minister of Finance Cran Pavond has approached the government of Timmy City. Minister Pavond wants to ensure the Timmian government's full economic and material support when war inevitably breaks out. The Orsonian and Timmian governments have had excellent relations for years now, and the Orsonian delegation is hoping to capitalize on this; the Timmies helped Orson's economy recover significantly after the 2nd Orson Civil War thanks to Timmian loans, and they have also helped prop up Turner's regime when it came to power and fund the Imperial war machine, and the Imperials have always made their loan payments on time. Timmian support is a major reason why Orson was able to transform itself from a war-torn backwater into a world superpower in a matter of 20 years.

Minister Pavond is now seeking a major loan from the Timmies to help keep the Imperial war machine afloat. With nearly twenty million soldiers under arms, the Imperial Military is extraordinarily expensive to maintain, costing the Empire trillions of Credits annually and eating up much of the annual budget. Even with one of the largest economies in the world, it is a strain on both the economy and the Imperial people, with tax rates kept relatively high compared to other nations in order to fund the military. With the coming war, where the Empire will likely face two great powers at the same time, the strain will become even more immense, and could even break the Imperial economy entirely, causing a deep recession and destroying the Empire's ability to wage war. As such, the delegation is seeking as much financial assistance from the Timmies as possible.

Additionally, Pavond wants to ensure that convoys transporting supplies and various war material to Orson will continue (such as oil from the fields in Abu Dhabi and Qatar), and ensures that Timmian merchant vessels will not be targeted during the war. Pavond is even willing to offer the Timmies some of the conquered land (such as some Ocearan territories in Africa and Mamaran territories in Europe) to help pay off the debts.

Timmy City
The Emperor has stated that to accept terms of Ocearan or Mamaran Territory would mean the Timmians being declared a hostile foreign power and will result in all of the Timmians' investments in Oceara immediately losing all returns.

Such a declaration would also make it easier for tensions to escalate to the point of military conflicts in future.

Furthermore, any agreement, even if not bargaining for Ocearan or Oceara's Allies territories will result in the cancellation of almost all joint ventures and Oceara Defaulting on at least large portions of it's timmian debt on grounds that it will not pay for enemy war efforts.

OOC: It would be pretty unrealistic for us to not help both parties. We would help both parties but I would recommend going about this in a different fashion. Any assistance rendered to Orson or Oceara would have likely been in place prior to the war and would have been a continuation of such contracts. Second, since we are a neutral country we would try equally balance our interests between both sides. It would be in the interest of Orson and Oceara to continue to receive supplies/financial help from us ( we will pick both sides, not one). There are companies that would be open to new contracts after the announcement, but they would demand outrageous terms.

After the earlier announcement about the threat of war against Orson, there would be few companies that would want to sign new contracts with either side. War is only profitable if the buying entity has the ability to pay or offer certain leverage as collateral. Offering potential land from other countries is morally wrong, but is not feasible collateral. With the acceptance of land comes the issues of governance, welfare, and caring for the people's of that area. Unless you are early Alex or the Orsonians the costs outweigh any benefits.

Finally, our government doesn't have many state-owned companies, we have a lot private companies. We can make laws and regulations that affect their ability to do business. But we can't tell them where to invest and not to invest if it's not against the law, otherwise, the government would be interfering in private industry. If Company A wants to offer loans to an Orsonian company, they are free to. If Company B wants to sell arms to Oceara that will be used against Orson, they are free to. Threatening punitive actions against a government that is already restricted from interfering heavily in the direct operations of private industry by their own laws is not good policy. A better policy would be to sanction Company A instead of threatening punitive actions against a government. We would recommend to companies doing business in Orson or Oceara to balance their involvement in both countries, if you sell jeeps to Orson, then offer to sell some to Oceara.

I believe there is a way where commerce continues to Orson and Oceara before, during, and after the war.

There will only be one winner in this total war, so supporting the other side -- even if in equal measures to supporting the winner leaves you open to hostility from most of the post-war world.

I want to say 98-99% of the contracts with either side would have been signed prior to any announcement of potential war.

I wouldn't be surprised if both sides started preparing early on. That way when the war they are prepared. I also wouldn't be surprised if a few companies continued to deliver fuel to Orson.

Timmy City wrote:I want to say 98-99% of the contracts with either side would have been signed prior to any announcement of potential war. Wouldn't both sides prepare a few years in advance for the war?

At Minimum we'd start using naval mines in response to Timmian war materiel continuing to go to the Orsonians after war being declared. "If they run into the mines, it was their own choice to brave the mines for profit."

Oceara wrote:At Minimum we'd start using naval mines in response to Timmian war materiel continuing to go to the Orsonians after war being declared. "If they run into the mines, it was their own choice to brave the mines for profit."

That's why I'm saying I would expect both sides of any war to prepare in advance. Few companies or countries are willing to send their ships, planes, trucks, or trains into a warzone to deliver materials, it's downright stupid. Preparing in advance allows the end-user to avoid supply disruptants or the threat of strikes against their vessels.

I believe that the Orsonians and Ocearans would have been preparing years in advance to avoid any disruptions and to minimize damage to their war plans.

Is it too paradoxical to want a highly spiritual and religious population that worships Alexander, yet also admires scientific and technological achievements in a manner akin to the Soviet idealization of science and scientists or the Victorian faith in science and technology?

In my opinion, no. Religion and science aren't mutually exclusive. Many esteemed scientists have also been devout Christians through history for example.

Good point. I’m thinking many Cybusians will be of the opinion that “science is the slow revelation of gods blueprint”, to borrow a phrase from Bioshock Infinite, and thus perfectly compatible with religion and superstition.

The Ocearan Government has filed a petition for the International Permanent Criminal Court(page=rmb/postid=34627652 if anyone missed Novo's post about it) to hear and handle cases of International Terrorism.

Oceara argues that the Council Court of International Justice (CCIJ) is the improper venue for a criminal case like terrorism and that International Terrorism is not able to be properly prosecuted in national courts(Due to multiple national jurisdictions applying) and belongs in the Jurisdiction of the IPCC from how grave a crime terrorism is.

General Plan for the Ocearan Territories (GPOT)

The GPOT was a classified Orsonian operation, to be carried out by the Imperial Inquisition in conjunction with the Imperial Military and additional aid from territorial forces across Orsonian Africa. This operation dealt specifically with Ocearan territories and the ultimate fate of Oceara after its conquest by the Orsonians. While there were several plans for dealing with the captured Mamaran territories after the war, Turner only had one fate in mind for all of Oceara: extermination.

It is no secret that relations between the Empire and Oceara took a turn for the worst in the 2010's; Oceara's rise to power and its use of advanced technology to its advantage were unprecedented, and caught many people in Orson by surprise; additionally, its constant opposition towards Turner's regime and belligerence towards the Empire irked many in the government. Turner was notably presented with a plan in early 2016 by members of Imperial High Command to launch a pre-emptive strike on Oceara, but Turner rejected it, as he did not see the minor nation as a threat to his rule. Within just a few years, this sentiment had changed entirely, with the "Ocearan Question" being discussed in political circles and among the public. It was now widely believed that the Ocearan state was too dangerous to exist. Turner had practically rewrote his "Grand Plan" to include the conquest of Oceara, and the GPOT as the "final solution" to the Ocearan Question.

The GPOT outlined the complete destruction of the Ocearan state, and the genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Ocearan people on a vast scale, possibly constituting the largest genocide in world history. These are the main points of the plan:

-A certain percentage of the various ethnic groups in Oceara would be selected for "termination". In total, 75% of the Ocearan population would be killed (roughly 113,000,000 people, based on the 2020 population provided by Oceara in a previous post).

-Large camps would be constructed throughout west Africa, to assist in the termination of these peoples on an "industrial" scale. These peoples were to be annihilated by various means, such as through starvation, disease, exposure to biological and chemical weapons, and extermination through labor. The operation would be similar to the death camps used during the Ethiopian War, but on a much larger scale.

-The surviving population will be gradually deported from their homelands, used as slave labor to assist in the reconstruction of areas heavily damaged by the war and in other areas, and to act as servants for the Orsonian colonists that will be allowed to settle west Africa. Once they are no longer useful, they will be terminated.

-All cities with a population over 100,000 will be completely destroyed, with all cultural artifacts looted and sent to the Empire.

-The Ocearans will be forced to surrender all of their advanced technology and war material (ships, airplanes, rifles, etc.), as well as all scientists and engineers over to Imperial custody. Non-compliance will result in termination, and possible destruction of said technology.

-All Ocearans will lose their property rights over their land, forfeited over to the Imperial government, who will grant them to Orsonian colonists in a bid to repopulate the new lands.

-The Island of Oceara's population (including that of its capital city) will be entirely terminated, and the island converted into an Imperial Navy base.

-The Ocearan Emperor, his sister Amie, and all members of the Ocearan government will be turned over into Imperial custody, where they will face a public execution.

Due to the fact that the frontlines of the Great African War remained stalemated during most of the war, the GPOT could never be implemented during its entirety, and during the later years of the war, the Empire did not even possess the resources needed to carry out this horrific plan.

Wow. Alex may hate Oceara, but he’d settle for just destroying the military, executing/Consuming the leaders, and then slowly and painstakingly integrating the population into the Cybusian populace at large.
I see Turner studied the ways of Hitler and Stalin extensively.

Citadel Class Mobile Fort:

The Citadel is the result of a RobCo collaboration with the Terran Shipwrights Guild, intended to be a durable ‘mobile fort’ which acts as a focal point for swarms of robots and other autonomous units, in sufficient numbers to conquer a planet. The Citadel is heavily armed with 6 spinal-grade weapons turrets, which generally hold either a Singularity Cannon (Cybusian service), Tachyon Arrow (Colluxian service), or a Super Heavy Rad Cannon (Technate service). These weapons, along with 2,000 missile pods and 2,500 Quad Hardlight Cannons, means the Citadel is quite capable of defending itself from attack. It’s greatest strength lies not in it’s weapon systems, but deep in the core of the vessel. Each Citadel is home to one of the most advanced AI created by RobCo, capable of controlling and coordinating massive numbers of robots and automated defenses, automated warships and small craft, receiving and processing massive amounts of data, and strategizing. Each of these AI, designated by RobCo as “ZAX” units, can vastly improve the fighting capabilities of any robots under its control, from RobCo units such as the fast and deadly Assaultron and the versatile workhorse Legionnaire droid, to the innumerable hordes of Technocratic Synths and Raptor droid fighter-bombers. These units can operate with much more flexibility and tactical ability than if left to their directives, and each ZAX can control billions, even trillions of lesser machines. ZAX units are capable hacking units as well, capable of infiltrating, subverting, overriding, or other interfering with enemy systems.
To make the most of this incredible coordination and processing power, each Citadel is equipped with massive numbers of robots, billions, even trillions of robots of various types, the majority of them RobCo units or Synths of various models, Corvus automated fighters (replaced with Raptor units in Technate service), automated dropships, supplemented by fleets of Clockwork Class Automated Corvettes to protect the Citadel, help land troops, and otherwise serve the ZAX unit, the native Morgan AI obeying the superior AI. Advanced fabricators can quickly replace losses, the ZAX unit able to modify the robots as needed, such as changing weapon load outs or armor thickness.
Because of it’s power, the Citadel is heavily armored, the engineers of the TSG building an extremely durable ship, reinforced with 200 feet of ACE and ERA armor, fifteen shield generators protecting the Citadel.
