The Ocearan Military has begun training it's troops to use the new Wagain Equipment now starting to arrive from the 2016 Arms deal, Valentina's request to assemble three massive training camps to train vast numbers of troops at once has been approved by the Emperor, her hope is to fully integrate the new equipment into the military by the end of 2018.

Well, Novo has just confirmed that I own Swaziland, which I never knew I owned before.

I was considering incorporating it into my history, but seeing as it is surrounded on all sides by Andrewian territory, it wouldn't hold out for long during our wars with them.

Why not just trade it to Andrew in exchange for land the size of Swaziland somewhere else where you border him?

ARGONEV Heavy Combat Armor
Another armor based upon the same composite armor used elsewhere in the Ocearan Military, this time in unpowered infantry armor, as such it is weaker than standard power armor but is superior to traditional unpowered combat armor in terms of protection. This version of ARGONEV infantry armor is designed for Paratroopers, as it is light enough to not need specialized equipment for drops and has the added bonus of greatly reducing the amount of force experienced by a wearer upon landing from a large fall. While not enough to just drop from a high plane with nothing else helping, it does mean that instead of a full parachute which is vulnerable to fire from it's slow descent it can use smaller drag parachutes that slow down the descent just enough to fall within safe parameters for a wearer of the armor. Allowing them to fall much quicker, making them harder to hit and reducing the total amount of time they are vulnerable.

The Empire has won a great victory against a combined Federalist/Contra-Turnerista force in the Jakosa Siege, which has proven to be a major setback for the fledgling Federalist movement in Orson.

About three months before the engagement, the Orson Intelligence Agency (OIA) received a tip from several of its moles, who had managed to infiltrate the ranks of the Federalists (and some had even risen up to command positions within the movement). The tip revealed the location of one of the largest Federalists compounds in the Empire: it was located underground, beneath a rubber tree plantation 110 miles southwest of Kinshasa (formally known as the Jakosa plantation), the territorial capital of Orsonian Congo. Over the next several weeks, the moles continued to feed more and more information about this complex to the OIA and the rest of the Ministry of State Security (MOSS), as well as Imperial High Command. Apparently, the Federalists purchased the plantation in 2012 via a front organization, hoping to use the extensive bunker system beneath the main farmhouse (built prior to the 2nd Orson Civil War) as a forward operating base. Since then, the Federalists have launched numerous raids and guerilla attacks on Imperial forces throughout the Congo, even managing to raid several armories belonging to the Congo's territorial police forces. Based on the information provided by the moles, roughly 500 Federalists operate out of the complex; OIA had also been informed that Contra-Turneristas from Wagondia had been operating out of the complex.

While MOSS was formulating a plan to shut down this base, Congo's territorial police acted first. Apparently, the territorial police had been receiving reports of suspicious activity on the plantation; for example one local farmer claimed he saw men smuggling weapons and other contraband on the Congo River. The territorial police did not report this suspicious activity to MOSS or Imperial High Command, as they believed it to simply be a local affair that they were capable of handling. Five police officers in the area had begun surveillance of the plantation when they spotted a Contra brandishing what appeared to be an assault rifle while talking to some of the workers. Upon witnessing this, they aimed their pistol and rifles at the Contra and ordered him to drop his weapon. The Contra complied, but more Federalist soldiers appeared from the distance, having witnessed the entire event. An argument between the police and the Federalists ensued, eventually escalating into an intense gunfight between both sides. The officers called for help, and soon territorial police began swarming the plantation, while the Federalists and Contras rushed to arm themselves and prepare for a major battle.

The gunfight would turn into a 20-day siege, as dozens of officers struggled against relentless suppressive fire from machine guns and potshots from snipers, and the territorial police formally appealed to MOSS and the Imperial Military for assistance. While MOSS had been hoping to use alternative means to shut down the base (and had been hoping to capture some Federalists and Contras alive, so that they could be interrogated), they eventually resigned to using brute force. The Imperial Military would send in 200 soldiers and five armored fighting vehicles to end the siege (while they would be supported by attack helicopters from the air). Meanwhile, MOSS would order Task Force 21 of the Imperial Inquisition to be deployed to the plantation to take command of the overall battle; Task Force 21 is one of the most prestigious and elite units of the Inquisition, and they frequently work in black-ops and counter-terrorism. They are known for their cunning tactics and their tenacity in these engagements, earning them the moniker "Duros's Angels" (named after Duros the Great, first Orsonian Emperor, as they exhibit many of the same traits as this legendary Emperor).

By day 17, the Federalists and Contras had been pushed back into the underground bunkers, and Imperial authorities had succeeded in securing the main farmhouse and other above-ground buildings, as well as other entrances to the bunker system across the plantation. Rather than attempt to launch an immediate assault into the bunker, Task Force 21 came up with an ingenious plan: they would flood the ventilation systems of the bunker with Sarin gas, which would kill or incapacitate any humans inside, while weakening any Orsonians and making them vulnerable to attack.

After administering the Sarin gas, Inquisitors and Imperial soldiers would enter the bunker complex, wearing full respirators and dressed in hazmat suits. They would be greeted to the horrific sight of dozens of corpses. Most people who were still alive were gunned down, while a few Orsonians were taken alive to be interrogated. Additionally, some Contras and Federalists were caught attempting to escape the bunker complex by territorial police, and were promptly arrested.

The Jakosa Siege was a decisive victory for the Empire against the Federalists and Contra insurgents. 30 Imperials were killed or injured, while 348 Federalists and Contras were killed or captured in the siege. The Imperials seized numerous rifles, pistols, and shotguns, thousands of rounds of ammunition, body armor, and other supplies holed up in the compound, as well as some intel on the current activites of the Federalist movement. Notably, the territorial police managed Wagain citizens who had been assisting the Contras, providing direct evidence that the Wagains were aiding insurgent groups in the Empire (much to the outrage of many Orsonians); the Wagains will soon be interrogated by the Inquisition. Meanwhile, the government of the Congo has ordered the plantation and the bunker system to be completely dismantled.

For their efforts in ending the Jakosa Siege, all Imperial soldiers involved in the siege and Task Force 21 have received an official commendation from Emperor Turner, as well as a pay raise and a hefty bonus. As a result, Task Force 21 is now the most decorated unit in the entirety of the Inquisition.

The First Jointly-designed piece of technology between the Ocearan & Wagain Militaries has been completed -- the Counter-Laser Targeting System which automatically detects when an enemy targeting laser is painting friendly forces and replies with it's own targeting laser to guide friendly missiles to destroy the enemy scout, it is designed to be mounted onto any land vehicle although it would be most useful on Tanks and Infantry Fighting Vehicles which would be most likely to be painted by lasers as they are front-line fighting vehicles.

Yeah, everything looks so much better. Strangely my cats look smaller than I remember from before I got the glasses last night.

I just got some new glasses, ironically.

Dazzler Missiles
Cruise missiles refit to carry large dazzlers to cause temporary blindness in opponents, Dazzler missiles are an innovation in adding suppression to defend missiles from enemy point defenses by interfering with light-based sensors (Such as Infra-red) and by blinding crews of open-air point defense weapons.

Dazzler missiles also have applications in suppressing enemy forces to assist friendly infantry as they only blind individuals facing the front of the missiles, making them entirely harmless to fire over allied infantry and tanks, used in this way the enemy infantry and tank crews would have to be facing the front of the missiles in order to be fighting the infantry and tanks in the first place.

For radar-guided point defenses unhindered by the dazzler, they remain effective at performing their primary duties however they are unlikely to succeed in preventing surrounding forces from being blinded temporarily by the dazzler missiles as so long as the Missile is in line-of-sight and the enemy is facing it's direction it can perform it's duty -- even from far away. Leaving the suppression capabilities of the Dazzler Missile bombardment intact.

It is assumed from Oceara's nuclear philosophy of using large numbers of short-ranged tactical weapons to bypass the effectiveness of long-range anti-ballistic missile systems, that the technology in these missiles would have applications in further protecting nuclear weapons from shorter-range conventional point defenses, likely further supplemented by traditional radar jammers.

Further work is being put into integrating these laser-based nonlethal suppression weapons into Ocearan Tactics.

I'm thinking about changing the UNF's history a bit in the modern times (early 2000s, a.k.a. post 2006 to the near future)...:

Following the FPR's declaration of independence in 2006, the UNF will have continued on as usual as it had in the current timeline of events. The UNF would have still deployed the Armorines to help fight in the F/M-S War, however space-faring technology wouldn't have been as advanced as the Republic's due to the Senate of the UNF wanting the nation to advance on its own. When the Fleet of Fog first appears following the war (as planned), the UNF would struggle slightly to keep the Octavian Islands from being blockaded due to relying on old Naval vessels from the Utopian Civil War and the few decades following. The UNF would decide not to burden the Republic to help in this issue due to the Republic recovering from the F/M-S War.

In around 2018-2020, after a second attempt to join sides with the Felucians, the Fog Submarine I-401 is tracked down and ordered to be destroyed by the Fleet of Fog while it is docked in a Felucian Naval Base in the Octavian Islands. Despite this, the Republic manages to eventually learn of this issue and sends starships to beat the Fog into submission to prevent collateral damage, causing a truce between the two. Eventually the Felucians and the Fog are at peace with one another, forming bonds and whatnot, leading to the creation of Hyuuga Manufacturing in 2025 (like normal).

What I want to change is the reason why the UNF uses completely different starships as the Republic. For the early years of the Republic, the UNF would be using simpler versions of the Republic starships for space travel...though after the Felucians begin growing their relationships with the Fog, the UNF begins taking a more Fog-oriented approach in their designs (hence the Fog Insignia on the Modern Flag of the UNF). From here, the UNF would help expand the Fleet of Fog within the UNF Military by creating ships similar to Fog designs that are capable of going through space (hence why most ships look like old ships but with space engines and whatnot...).

...While I can't think of anything past this point, this is all I have to think about. But things might change in the future.

What do you guys think about my idea?

Happy 2018 from Australia.

OOC: Sorry for the late reply; I was out of town with family for a few days

The Jakosa Siege has garnered much public attention since the news broke several days into the firefight. A team of two Contra-Turneristas had been purchasing food and medicine in a nearby town when they heard the fighting break out, and witnessed the prompt response of Territorial Police units (many of which were heavily armed). Figuring that they were cut off from the bunker and their cover would soon be blown, they made their way west on the Congo river, hiding amongst freight on a river barge, before swimming to the Angolan bank near the city of Matadi. Here, border guards were made aware of the situation and the news quickly traveled to the government in Santa Catalina. As the siege was beginning to be covered in Wagondia, an emergency cabinet meeting was called, and it soon became clear that there were several Wagain citizens trapped within the compound (including several who were acting directly on the government's orders). This included Angolan propagandist Marco Perreo, a prominent critic who owned several successful anti-regime radio stations based in Luanda but targeted at Congolese Orsonians. After learning that Perreo had been captured alive, the Wagain government secretly contacted the Orsonian government seeking a deal for his release. Many Wagains are shocked that their government would risk sending individual agents to fight in hostile territory, and the humiliation of being caught in the act has only increased domestic pressure. At this point, our government is doing everything it can to save face and avoid the public outcry that would follow a highly publicized and bloody interrogation.

Upon being transferred from Congolese custody to the Inquisition, one of the Wagains was revealed to be Marco Perreo, a prominent critic of the Empire and Turner's regime. The Inquisition would administer a sedative to all prisoners captured in the Jakosa Siege and blindfold them. They were then transferred to a classified base deep in the Congo rainforests, where they are currently being interrogated (however, details of the interrogation, including any intel the prisoners revealed have not been revealed to the public).

Perreo was kept separately from the rest prisoners in a white, padded cell with bright lights that never turned off, even at night (this was done in order to psychologically break him and prevent him from sleeping); he was given water to prevent him from dying of thirst, but no food. Over the course of several days, Perreo was severely beaten and tortured by the Inquisitors (which left him with numerous broken bones and other wounds) while being interrogated for anything he knew about the Federalists.

In reality however, the Inquisition wasn't really trying to interrogate Perreo; knowing how the Federalists operate, the Inquisition knows that Perreo would know few details about major Federalists operations, as he was considered to be foreign assistance, not a member of the Federalist cause. Furthermore, the Inquisition is aware that torture is an unreliable method of interrogation, as the prisoner will say anything to make it stop, including complete lies. They were just torturing Perreo for their own amusement, and to make an example of him to the Wagain government.

MOSS was soon made aware that the Wagains were trying to strike a deal with the Imperial government to release Perreo, and that Turner was leaving the decision up to them; knowing that the Wagains were unlikely to stop their assistance of the insurgents over a single prisoner (even if they publicly agreed, they would still covertly assist said insurgents) Turner cared little about the outcome. The leadership of MOSS would decide to release Perreo to the Wagains without asking for anything in return. Unfortunately for Perreo, it was still not without a price. To ensure he could never speak ill of the Empire again, the Inquisitors used hot pincers to rip out Perreo's tongue. All of Perreo's fingers were also chopped off with a knife, to ensure he could never write any anti-Imperial propaganda as well. He was thrown into a boat, handcuffed and blindfolded, on the Congo river. The motor of the boat was then started, allowing it to sail to the other side of the river into Wagain territory.

Upon learning of Perreo's fate, Turner simply laughed and commended the Inquisition for being "merciful" and allowing Perreo to live.

Happy New Year!

The Imperial Army troops swept through the fields, hunting for Drakul. Their frigate, the Archimedes, was in orbit over the planet, Natex. The outbreak in the capital city of Cofton had been suppressed, and the troops where searching the surrounding towns, fields and forests for surviving Drakul or their nests. They saw two figures walking through the tall weeds. They were strangely clad, not in Imperial power armor, nor in the uniform and armor of the local defense force. They wore black, longcoats obscuring whatever armor they wore, gas masks covering their faces. They approached the five-man squad, extending their arms to show they meant no harm. One of them stepped forward to speak with the squad leader, Hayes.
“I am private Hayes, of the Imperial Army. We are hunting Drakul and it is thus unsafe for you to be until we can verify the area is clear. Vacate the area immediately.”
A muffled male voice came from the gas mask. “You are here to protect the colonists, correct?”
“Yes, that’s correct. As I said-“ Hayes felt a sharp pain in his neck. He yanked out a razor- sharp needle-like barb from it, his biomass repairing itself. He marveled at how it had somehow penetrated his power armor. He abruptly fell to the ground, writhing, his biomass randomly mutating and changing form, tendrils shooting from his armor at random as his eyes and ears processed a bizarre world of color and light and sound. Another needle was instantly shot into the armor of the soldier beside, and the other three scattered for cover while opening fire on the two. They dashed behind a large rock, revealing rifles, which they opened fire with. The two Evolved who had been shot from afar by the needle-shooting sniper were plunged into terror as their senses processed vivid and horrifying hallucinations, their screams resounding through the squads comms systems, their biomass rapidly rotting from the inside out. One of the Imperial soldiers managed to hit one of the strangers in the chest with a burst of Hardlight, to no noticeable affect. The gas mask clad troops returned fire, their rifles firing shimmering crimson bolts of energy. One of the Imperial troops was struck, his shields instantly failing. The power armor itself absorbed several shots from the strange bolts of energy, but a needle penetrated the armor a second later. The soldier, a Human, began having vivid and terrifying hallucinations, his flesh turning black as it rotted away within seconds. His screams mixed with those of his two Evolved comrades, only to die off a moment later. The two surviving Imperial soldiers frantically messaged the Archimedes, only to find their communications were being jammed. A moment later, another needle pierced a set of power armor. The unfortunate Evolved began firing his weapon at random, everywhere, as he saw himself surrounded by a hoard of Drakul. The final soldier, thinking quickly, fabricated a Hardlight grenade and tossed it toward the rock formation the strange hostiles were hiding behind. The explosion flushed them out of their cover, and he fired on them with his Hardlight Auto-Repeater, but was horrified to see the bolts of energy had little effect on them, absorbed by a very powerful energy shield. He noted grimly that all his fellow Cybusians had stopped screaming by now, and lay still, even the Evolved. He felt a sharp sting...

One of the gas mask wearing men spoke into a radio. “The heretic patrol has been eliminated. Our agents worked well. The Evolved and Humans alike are dead.”
