The Orson Empire wrote:Interesting Fact: Turner was known to be a very intimidating and frightening man during his reign.
Turner carefully crafted his appearance to the public, appearing to be a charming and benevolent as possible in order to gain support, but those who knew Turner personally often saw his true self. Much of it has to do with his personality; Turner is a high-functioning sociopath, and is incapable of feeling even a shred of empathy. He feels little to no emotion, save for occasional "shallow emotions" (such as occasional pleasure or rage); any emotion Turner shows is almost always faked as a part of crafting his appearance. Turner feels no guilt or remorse for his actions; he simply doesn't care. Turner fears nothing, and is a major risk-taker; Turner will risk his own life without hesitation if it means he could achieve his goals. Turner is a master at manipulation, having used it to rise from the rank of a Senator to the rank of Emperor during his long career; he has managed to manipulate much of the Orsonian population into supporting his dictatorship.
In private, however, many government members and members of the Imperial Military feared Turner. As a result, they never crossed him, knowing that Turner would not hesitate to have them executed at a moment's notice. This is one of the reasons that many of the atrocities that occurred under Turner's reign were tolerated; many people were simply frightened what Turner and his fanatically loyal Imperial Inquisition and others loyal to him would do to them.
Turner would personally order the major massacres to happen, often going to the site of the massacre to watch, and inviting Imperial Council members to attend to "witness his accomplishment". Turner did this mainly to remind these councilors that the same could happen to them if they ever betrayed Turner. Prime Minister Wells once witnessed the massacre of hundreds of Indian rebels (who had surrendered to the Orsonians) during the Indian Rebellion in 2014. While many of the councilors could barely even look on in horror, Turner watched the entire event, showing no reaction at all. Wells would later comment about the event, saying "I saw the look in his face. I thought he might be taking some form of sick pleasure in it, but I saw...nothing, no emotion. Turner's eyes were as cold as ice. He is truly a madman."

Fascinating. Thaddeus, on behalf of Torchwood, once analyzed Turner and thought he was definitely abnormal, psychologically, but he was comparing notes on Orsonian psychology from the pre-Rebellion and pre-slavery era, so he didn't exactly have a lot to work with.

I have a quick question for you all:

I recently read an article about military recruitment in the US, and which areas had higher rates of enlistment (The Atlantic South states exhibited the highest rates whereas the Northeast was lower than all other regions, to highlight the extremes).

Which states or regions of your nations show the greatest loyalty to the military, and have the highest rates of enlistment? If they are considered more patriotic or descendants of a higher military tradition than other areas of the country, why is this so?

Arcadia, Anaxes. Most "core worlds" are very patriotic and have a long history of military service. Outer colonies/new colonies are generally less patriotic for a few generations, but that's quickly replaced by Cybusian patriotism.

Timmy City,Cybus1, The Orson Empire, and Socialist Republic of Andrew:

Because all of you currently control major territories in the North Atlantic-European region (Timmy controls most of Canada, Western Europe, and the US; Cybus has Germany, Ireland, and several Atlantic islands; Orson has Quebec; Andrew has Italy and Morocco), what is the status of NATO in your canon? Do you consider yourselves full members, observer states, or neutral altogether? Perhaps you participate in some of the military exercises but opt out of the mutual defense clause?

I'm asking because, though Wagondia is primarily located in Latin America and the Pacific, we have several territories which border the North Atlantic (Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, etc...), and we have historically been aligned with Western interests (fighting with the Allies in both World Wars and actively deterring Soviet influence during the Cold War). If you consider yourself a member of NATO, would you support a Wagain membership bid?

We have attempted to join NATO at least as an observer state and even offered access to resources such as gas and oil, (since Timmy controls most of it I assumed he was the one who makes it's decisions) but Timmy stated that since we weren't a democracy then it was shot down. However we do hold a joint air travel agreement with NATO military aircraft to fly over Andrewian airspace to get to destinations(even sometimes under Andrewian Air Force escort) and visa versa for us as Andrewian military aircraft can fly over NATO airspace should situations call for it. We also have another agreement that should an aircraft go down, then we can send respective military forces and emergency services to render aid to crew members of downed aircraft and secure airs until they can be removed by the respective country.
However this joint flight agreement does not permit the flying of aircraft over secret bases and no fly zones, such as Fort Andrew due to it is a no fly zone to any and all unpermitted aircrafr both foreign and domestic and can result in being shot down, though we have had no such incidents as of yet.
So in short terms...no we are no apart of NATO, though we do hold some joint agreements with them such as joint flying and emergency response services to aircraft's in respected airspace. Besides we wouldn't need to join NATO since we actually have a very strong and powerful military force on our own. We were merely requesting to join to do a service to the rest of the world but guess it wasn't wanted.

As for your membership into NATO, we support it and believe some Latin American influence will be good for them.

And as for your question about our biggest recruitment province...is actually tough to answer due to military service is mandatory all around unless one cannot physically or mentally meet the task. All servicemen believe it or no serve with very little hatred towards the service like most mandatory military service in countries are and rather enjoy their 5-6 years of training (12 or 13-18 years of age) and then 5 years of mandatory active duty service (18-23) and then at 23 they can choose to either remain active duty or go reserve and return to civilian life with periodic mandatory training and exercise drills or when in times of war.

ATTENTION EOA MEMBERS

I'm happy to announce that yesterday officially marks the fourth anniversary of the founding of our great region, the Empire of Andrew!! It seems like just yesterday that we packed our things and left the Imperosphere for one last voyage back to our ancient homeland. I'd like to thank Andrew for his efforts to resurrect this home of ours, as well as Timmy for faithfully leading us in the WA for almost all of our tenure here, and all the original and rookie members who have brought old traditions and new life to our proud region. Because we neglected to celebrate yesterday, I motion that we declare the entire week to be EOA independence week, when we can all come together to remember old times, enjoy the game that has brought us together, and unveil fresh ideas for RPs and regional events.

To begin, I'd like to personally commemorate this august occasion with a set of EOA trading cards, portraying the various world leaders who have steered their countries bravely forward and left great impressions on the development of this region over the past four years. I will be producing one of these cards every day, each one depicting an EOA legend who will forever be remembered as one of the greats. Using RMB, factbook, and forum searches, I've tried to bring together facts and memories from long ago to form a full profile on these timeless personalities.

First up, on this second day of Independence Week, is the longtime Eternal Emperor of our very own founder and Marshal, Socialist Republic of Andrew. The country which bears his name has been a steady and active presence since day one, helping to drive some of the best RPs we've had and bridging the gap between tech levels, government types, languages, races, and political leanings as the central authority which unites us all. This card is dedicated to Emperor Andrew Hall!

During "The Terran Wars" (2020-2100): The Ivory Coast & Ghana are considered the most willing to volunteer into the Ocearan Army, while the Island Provinces and Madagascar are among the least. Tanzania had very little volunteer rates for until the 2040s as a direct result of the distaste for war brought about by the millions of tanzanians who died during the "Great African War" (What Oceara calls the War against the Orson Empire between 2020 and 2026 due to most of Oceara's military operations being located in Africa) and the mass conscription of their population

After Oceara started to expand into the stars (2100+): The Terran Provinces of Oceara would be among the most willing to the fight for the Ocearan Empire, only rivaled by the Core worlds. The Terrans, with the time passed since the horrific blunders of the Great African War the generations entering into the age of intergalactic expansion were more often than not born during or just before the much more successful Ocearan Military Campaigns (The Orson Reunification Wars & The Monarchist-Federation War) and as a direct result grew up in a period of rapid militarization and where military propaganda was most distributed in Ocearan History.

These Terrans built some of the best military academies in the entire Empires and formed the bulk of the Ocearan Officer corps in the early days of expansion before the sheer numbers involved with the populations off-earth made them more rare to see in comparison to volunteers from off-world. These academies have a reputation with turning out superior officers & troops to the rest of the Empire, Terran-trained commanders being considered more proficient than even those trained on Planet Oceara as war veterans would often teach at their academies while the other academies of the empire, due to their numeration would be often taught by-the-book strategies rather than develop new strategies based off the experiences of previous wars.

With the quality of volunteers from the Terran Provinces, the Ocearan Government decided to give the Provincial governments permission to develop their own propaganda to encourage people to at least volunteer during peacetime to receive training and would often leave loyal war veterans with long histories of successes in the field to be involved with the political processes there, often being voted in as Provincial Governors. The loyalty of these governors played a large part in the consistent adoption of conscription in the Terran provinces during wars, however this conscription was limited to those who have already been through the military academies and as such were either equivalent or more skilled than their volunteer counterparts across the empire.

Due to the fact the Island of Oceara is under direct Imperial Administration, it is has the least number of volunteers and conscripts, as Conscription was only ever adopted on the imperial level once during the Alexandrian War and little attention of the Imperial Government is brought directly to administering the island due to it's small size and lack of importance in this age.

The Issue of developing a government-mandated service to make sure the bulk of the population is prepared for military service in wartime is still being debated, although it is still largely being considered constitutional as the provincial governments can be granted permission to initiate conscription of their own populations at their own discretion.

Ahhh this is a wonderous occasion and I thank you for such a wonderful idea of the trading cards and for reminding us of EOA Independence Week! I truly had no idea it has been 4 years already with the EOA.... I'm truly proud to have called this our home in the NS where we all got together and made it into a little slice of diverse Paradise where ideas such as Cybus' designs can be posted or old history such as Orson can be reminded about or where a joint currency like the Osperita can be created or where just anything and everything can happen when we put our minds to it!

I maybe the founder of the region but I am far from it's leader as it was all of us who one way or another, first, second or even third gen residents have contributed to making the history of this fine region into something I want us all to be proud of! From the wars to peace times to galas to intergalactic colonization we have done it all and continue to go even further! And with that the only way we can go...is up!

I'm honored to be the very first one of the cards chosen and for this it is truly appreciated. I appreciate all the hard work you and everyone else has put into this region making it from a once small barren pocket of NS into now one of the highest ranked regions in many categories and a must see destination for pilgrims, visitors and nations both new and old!

And as for info with my Factbook...they're as old as this region so I suggest just asking me personally via telegram so I can provide you with updated info! XD

ANYWAYS! HAPPY EOA INDEPENDENCE WEEK!

Don't worry; I have my own plan for you :)

Well, Alex supports NATO. Andrew Ryan, the man in charge of Rapture, despises it, claims it a tool of the "parasites" to promote "accursed altruism". So he makes things annoying at times, since he has a city in the middle of the Atlantic. So we're a member state, even if Ryan antagonizes NATO sometimes.
But, yes. We'd support your bid.

That's AWESOME NOVO!

Also, no idea what the image on my card should be. My version of Alex is quite different from Prototypes original version, save the name and Blacklight.

Send me whichever pic best represents your vision of him :)

No idea! I'll look around.

New Factbook with a hastily-drawn drawing of an Ocearan Conscript:
nation=oceara/detail=factbook/id=860661
It will give details of the different troops of the Ocearan Army, the first included is the conscripts of 2020-2026.

Finding an Alex is proving more difficult than I thought.

The Ocearan-Azirian Empire, despite their home universe being young, has approached the Cybusian Empire with an offer to cooperate in developing technologies for slowing or indeed stopping universes from dying out slowly. Perhaps extending such cooperation agreement to a treaty organization open to new members.

We consider ourselves full NATO members and it exists.I don't think you should join NATO since we control it and we already have the ARA and IU. Those organizations are like NATO but more comprehensive and less bearuacratic.

The European countries, Mongolia, and South Korea show the greatest loyalty to the military and south pacific islands show have the highest rate of enlistment.

The Panopticon:
Torchwood High Command, The Panopticon towers over its surroundings. It is an obsidian black tower, with minimal decoration. The black-walled courtyard enclosing the tower houses a statue of Director John Forge, a hand-carved memorial wall to Agents who have fallen in battle, and a small all-faiths temple and chapel near the wall for those who wish to pray or mourn. The tower itself houses relatively few Torchwood assets, the majority being "underground". The tower houses the Directors office and penthouse, a museum, several briefing rooms, a command room, and many "offices" and "labs" which are actually meant to distract would-be intruders. Underneath the tower, there is a labyrinthine series of labs and facilities and armories. There are many connections to inter-dimensional Torchwood installations, such as the Torchwood Archives, where most information and many artifacts are stored. There are also links to Torchwood facilities across the Empire. Though it is unconfirmed, The Panopticon is also believed to house the mysterious Section Zero, which roots out traitors, leaks, and internal security issues.
The Panopticon also houses an extensive number of unique weapons, such as Reality Rifles. Security systems are highly classified, but are assumed to include everything from turrets, robotic security, and other, more unique measures exclusive to Torchwood. Foreign visitors to the facility, barring exceptions by Directorial order or an order from the Emperor himself, are Mesmerized upon entry, then mind-wiped and de-Mesmerized upon departure, leaving only the absolutely necessary information left in their minds.

Agent James Burke advanced through the former crypt, now a Drakul nesting site. He had already killed twenty of them, silver rounds from his .45 burning into their infected flesh and into their brains. The place stank of ammonia, a result of the discharged waste of Drakul, whatever they didn't process in the blood and biomass they fed on. He turned up his internal air conditioning, to combat the heat Drakul radiate. Three came running from a tunnel, and with three headshots, he gunned them down. Burke was puzzled by what he saw coming toward him. A seemingly unharmed Torchwood Agent, uniform pristine and Hardlight Auto-Repeater at the ready. "Agent! Report!" He called out. The Agent responded by showering his shields with a sudden, intense barrage of Hardlight, severely weakening them. Burke swore and sought cover. The traitorous Agent arced a stinger into the air and let out some sort of hideous shriek that echoed throughout the tunnels, only to be answered by dozens, hundreds of Drakul. Burke shot off a few rounds at the former Agent, but it dodged, the plasma-coated rounds burying themselves in the walls as the creature sprinted towards Burke. It fired off another barrage, hoping to bring down his shields, but there was a slight warmth at Burkes side, inside his trenchcoat, and he could have sworn he heard some sort of whispering. The bolts of Hardlight metamorphized in midair, becoming ravens, eagerly attacking the former Agent, cawing and scratching and pecking against his biomass. The Bone Charm still worked, Burke thought with glee. Burke immediately opened fire, taking advantage of the situation by firing silver rounds at the Drakuls head. The shields shimmered but held, and the Drakul screeched and fled into the caverns. Burke knew he couldn't stay here, lest he be swarmed by hundreds of Drakul.

Compulsory service. Unfortunately, it's causing a population of super-soldiers or humans evolved for life in space. Which have now been branded 'Augmented Humans' or 'Enhanced Humans' however they are a minority as enhancements aren't required for anything other than the Marines.
