At present, the Northern Norkelia government has chosen to enhance its dominance in Mauritania through the appropriation of coastal and inland cities. Norkelia took advantage of Nouakchott which became a primary base in Norkelian forces' naval and land operations to further achieve the beachheads and seize important sites. The campaigning forces had a tough battle with the Norkelian soldiers nevertheless; just a few successes were made by them.

The Banc d'Arguin is a region of shallow waters and islands along the coast of Mauritania, which became the place for very big naval combat. The Norkelian forces' aim was to have a stronghold in this area to secure their maritime supply lines and, at the same time, to prevent any disturbances by the Mauritanian naval forces. The navy had an armada that consisted of destroyers, frigates, and very powerful ships for battle. The plan was to unload the Mauritian coastal defence and build a dock in the islands. Norkelian forces outnumbered the Mauritian soldiers because of the superiority in terms of firepower and aerial support from Norkelian aircraft carriers, which in turn, turned the game of battle. The victory was thereby the guarantee of Norkelian shipping through the convoy.

Nouadhibou is a strategic spot and the control of this city would have enabled Norkelia to stop Mauritania from the trade routes through the sea and further the country’s isolation. Their navy formed a large amphibious force to invade the Nouadhibou Bay. The Mauritanian navy was supplied with artillery and anti-ship missile batteries, they skillfully defended themselves. Some of the ships inflicted great harm to the Norkelian fleet. Although with many casualties and the loss of several ships, Norkelian forces at last overpowered the defenders which resulted in the capture of Nouadhibou Bay though it was a costly victory, yet Norkelia got a port and further a door to the interior of Mauritania.
