The EU should be replaced with second continental system lead by the Third French Empire.

Bengal and assam wrote:Northern Ireland be a special zone, with a backstop, and with the Euro as a currency...
And also, STOP MIGRANTS, KEEP THEM TO THE FROGS...

Let's break this down.

Firstly, the DUP (upon which Johnson and the Conservative Party are dependent) have refused to tolerate any suggestion that Northern Ireland can be separated from the rest of the UK. This is because it would likely facilitate the reunification of Ireland by putting up barriers with the United Kingdom. This alone, unless the DUP backslide, or a fresh election makes DUP support no longer necessary before the deadline of Article 50 on Halloween, or the opposition somehow musters enough support for it (when if they could get such numbers, they would probably stop Brexit all together), voids this entire suggestion.

The Backstop entails a partial customs union, which blocks the UK from having a sovereign trade policy. It must set their tariffs and quotas to whatever the EU27 decide without any right to appeal or ability to override such decisions made in Brussels. Furthermore, FTAs signed by the EU with other countries may no longer apply depending on the terms, meaning Canadian goods for example could arrive in the UK tariff-free but UK goods could get heavily tariffed in Canada. This could cause a blow out of the trade balance, and cause a Current Account crisis. It would have the same relationship to the EU, or worse, as Turkey.

The Euro is a terrible invention by the economically illiterate political elite who wanted some symbolic gesture to celebrate the victory of liberalism over communism in Europe. If you haven't picked up on its extensive flaws which have plunged millions of people into poverty, debt, and misery then I advise you to reread my previous posts on the topic. If you disagree with that conclusion, I challenge you to debate me on the topic. In this case, it caves off Northern Ireland from the UK. In doing so, the UK loses control of its monetary policy in Northern Ireland. At the same time, fiscal policy for Northern Ireland remains largely under London's control. This sudden breakdown of monetary and fiscal union lays the foundation for economic divergence and potential catastrophe.

And finally, migration. Ireland allows visa-free access travel for many countries although it is not a signatory of Schengen. As such, for all of the far right propaganda about uncontrolled migration to the UK, technically Ireland is not very different in terms of their policies. If you are talking about refugees, which I sincerely hope that if you are you would do so in far more humanizing terms, then Northern Ireland to my knowledge is already separate from the rest of the UK's refugee resettling system. Meanwhile, Ireland has pledged to receive a mere 4,000 (pledge made in 2015, and as of 2018 only 2,000 have actually taken that offer up). As for leaving it for "the frogs", I should point out that legally refugees are required to seek asylum in the first country in the EU they arrive in - this is ironically known as the Dublin Regulation if I remember right. Attitudes such as those seemingly implied in your post undermine solidarity of the member states, making any coordinated refugee policy even harder to implement. If Dublin is followed to the letter then Spain, Italy, and Greece would have been unfairly burdened by the sheer number of arrivals during the crisis peak. But, I feel that I must point out to you that numbers of refugees attempting to reach Europe have been in full decline since 2015. In fact, according to the UN Refugee Agency 'only' 34,196 individuals have tried to reach Europe by sea in 2019. The annual total will likely be down from 362,000 in 2016 and is clearly a vast improvement upon 105,000 this time last year. But don't let me trivialize it. 669 civilians have drowned this year trying to cross. This is a tragedy. Make the argument that some are economic migrant opportunists rather than refugees fleeing conflict, if that makes you sleep better at night, but that doesn't change the statistics of those killed trying to find a better life. Am I suggesting Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK, or anywhere in Europe should take all of them? No. Am I saying that there should be no process or screening of potential applicants? No, of course not. But the true facts need to be clear here - the 'migrant crisis' is lessening each year, with the EU partially to 'credit' due to their deal with Turkey and centers in Libya, so don't believe any far right propaganda expressing views that an ever growing 'tide' or 'wave' is coming. But don't forget that each statistic is a person, and it is truly a humanitarian crisis no matter what the numbers say. Dehumanizing them and saying that any one country is responsible is reprehensible.

Well, I've heard of a mythical land called "Wyoming", though academic sources say it most likely does not exist, I like to believe it does. One day I hope to visit that barren paradise, and prove once and for all that it in fact exists.

Indeed, but if it wasn't for those of the far right being elected on such propaganda then such a crisis would be far more manageable and not become a self-fulling prophecy. And by 'far right', I don't mean Eurosceptics! Or Conservatives! Or right-wing voters! I mean those who literally lie about the migration issue. In addition, if Europe is able to continue the idea of setting up offices in Libya, Turkey, and other crossing countries as well as crisis countries beyond the Mediterranean then such deadly and unregulated travels would no longer be necessary - but it is the countries who simply refuse to reform the migration issue at all due to their courting of the far right who prevent this from happening.

I once met a man who walked to Europe from Syria. It is unbelievable what some people are able to do in hope of a better life. They don't do it for fun. They don't do it because it is easy. And yes, it is true many aren't from Syria or conflict zones, but what Bengal seemed to imply would leave such genuine individuals out too.

Europe was caught unprepared in 2015. So long as Turkey keeps their route closed, prop up what remains of Libya and focus their attention there, and keep an eye on the Gibraltar crossing (whose numbers went up even though the total number of migrants is in free fall if I remember right) then it should never get as bad. The advanced processing in these countries should also hopefully stop people taking matters into their own hands.

The downturn is coming Zackaroth, I agree, we can only hope that the White House and ECB have learned from the mistakes of 2008. Have they? Probably not, but it will be survivable.

Well they should... Because if someone like Hitler comes into power in Europe(god-forbid) on a Anti-Islamic genocidal platform, their citizens will be among those rounded up...

New Metropolitan France wrote:Are you trying to destroy the economy of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the rest of the UK?

No... I meant something like a British Hong Kong arrangement. With its own currency and financial policies(controlled by Europe and Dublin), while it's other laws will be made jointly by Dublin and London...

Wow...that's a wall of post you've got there...
For Ireland, creating a Hard Border will be problematic, since we can see a Revived IRA

The reason why I don't like migrants is because these people stroll into Europe on a boat(the deaths are tragic, I've got no arguement to that), live off welfare, don't pay taxes, commit crimes such as räpe(as seen in Sweden). In the end, this makes Europeans believe that all Muslims are räpists, causing them to lash out on brown people who migrated to Europe legally, and earn money and pay taxes, and most importantly, assimilate to Western values...

Nuru Administration (2023 - 2028)

The current administration is that of Rais Nuru, the first Rais since the return of the Commonwealth. Rais Nuru is the person who is responsible for Zambia, Tanzania, and Malawi's union into the EAC and as such has has immense respect by much of the Commonwealth. With a 62% approval rating and the support of both legislative houses, Nuru has been able to enact reforms and programs without many issues. His agricultural and economic programs have established a firm and stable economic base and his infrastructure program has seen the completion of roads and electric grids across the nation. Further, his restructuring of the military and is following modernization program have been well received across the country. What many consider to be his greatest strength is international outreach and representing the Commonwealth abroad. This was solidified when he helped establish the state of Katanga in 2024 to end the civil war in the neighboring DRC.

Nuru has also laid out plans to continue the modernization of the Commonwealth and improve the standard of living across the board. This is being done thanks to cooperation with E-Tech and ensuring that food, water, and electricity is readily available to the people. Nuru has personally funded and opened several schools and hospitals in major cities across the nation, stating that he has plans to open more. One of his more unique and unanticipated actions was being a vocal supporter of the Amity Fleet. Nuru called the Fleet "Our Face in the eyes of the world" shortly after its establishment and has worked closely with Amity Command to ensure that the fleet is well supplies and has access to whatever diplomatic channels it needs to function. For now, Nuru has not stated if he will be running for re-election in the 2028 elections but many believe that following this term he will likely retire. While his terms is not yet over, many are hailing him as Africa's New Lion following in the footsteps of Solomon Leonis himself.
