While unsure of the full scale of the conflict and the reasonings behind it, St Jameses would like to invite The Dolphin Isles, Ionona, Nation for Mutual Security, and Great coalition to our capital in order to discuss a possible ceasefire, and to attempt to solve the issues at hand through peaceful and diplomatic means.

Ishlomekia

The phone next to General Kozak rings

"Brass Hat."

"Sir, I have General Kasumi on the line for you, he says it's urgent."

"Put him through." some dead air is heard before the line is transferred.

"This is General Kozak. I'm told you need to speak with me."

"This is General Kasumi, do you have any troops on our eastern coast? We're are getting some mobilization on our east coast. We've lost a logistics unit and are currently tracking a military flight heading deep into our country."

"Negative. Our fleet units are on the western side inside the exercise zone and our land forces are within the skirmish area. We have had no overflights today. I will have several squadrons refitted with non sim air to air missiles near our shared eastern border in the event we have a rogue plane. Be advised, the target aircraft will not be allowed to enter our airspace and will be downed if the attempt is made."

"Rog, I'll notify Eastern Command. Thank you for your time"

The line goes dead. Kozak hangs up the phone and starts pulling units up to full alert along the north east. All forces taking part in the exercise are ordered to cease immediately and load live ammunition. Flights originating or terminating on the north east are diverted or canceled. The lights in the Battleforce Management Center are switched from blue to red to indicate the switch from a training environment to a real scenario.

Great coalition and Ionona

"Major, you're telling me we were sent to the wrong coordinates, and us capturing that GC convoy wasn't actually part of the exercise? We were 'mis-deployed' as you put it?"

A disgruntled captain can be heard sighing over a static filled radio line, buzzing with tones of emergency transponders.

"Captain, I'm going to be honest with you: The map my team got, and the one they handed out to Fox company and the rest of our men in the mountains were not the same. I failed you as a commander and I will be resigning shortly after this debacle ends. I just hope we don't actually get our country and GC in a f---ing war over this."

"Alright, so I'm going to talk to the GC POWs and explain the situation in more clarity. If said explanation goes downhill, what do you want me to do?"

"Captain, just tell them I messed up, apologize again, and to go about their business. Did they have live rounds on them?"

The Captain sighed again, but didn't key the radio. Private Leon sitting across the wooden table puts his head in his hands upon the table, silently judging the single side of communication he can hear.

"Yes they did, but obviously our company talked with them so were all on good terms for the most part; we had one fight break out among our guys that one of the GC soldiers tried to break up. Nobody got hurt aside from some feelings. They already asked us why we captured them, and blocked the bridge off with those cones, but they only seemed confused since they knew everything was happening in the west. That's actually when the fight broke out between our guys."

"My shoulders have a weight lifted Captain, I'll talk to my commanders and see what we can do about getting you out, and what either GC or NFMS want to do about this. I'm the one getting canned so make sure your men are aware that they are not the ones in any trouble."

"Roger sir, I'll get on it. What should we do about 1st platoon who left early this morning?"

"I'm actually getting a phone call from my commander right now, I'll notify you of changes. If they haven't dropped yet, get in contact and tell them to turn back immediately. I assume if the guys on the ground weren't aware, the rest of GC isn't aware either and they have aircraft in the air with real weapons. I'm just glad nobodies gotten killed yet, let's see if we can make this exfil with that still the case."

"Roger Major, I'll get on it now. Anything else?"

"No Captain Markovic, that's my peace. I'll let you get to it."

Major Dennis presses the phone down into its socket gently, almost as if he had more to say to the men he sent into what is now a real combat situation. A breeze from the ocean air rolls over the command table of his office, and he looks upon the map in front of him. Every other piece of military hardware deployed to GC waters is exactly where it's supposed to be. Great coalition, Nation for Mutual Security, and The Dolphin Isles naval exercises are going as planned off shore. Dennis' cigar falls from his mouth as he tries to comprehend how a mistake like this has been made, and what the repercussions will be.

"At least we've only got the one ship here, and a single company on the ground." He mutters to himself under his breath.

A knocking can be heard on the hardened-steel bulkhead door just a foot away.

"Come."

"Evening Sir, anything I can get you right now?"

The Major, peeling his glasses off his face and rubbing the bridge of his nose, tries to focus on the figure coming through the door to no avail. All he could make out was a casual and bright red t-shirt of an off duty yeoman.

"Not right now Yeoman Rand, but could you schedule a 6 shot coffee at 2330?"

"Absolutely sir, just call us if you need anything before then."

The yeoman prances away, happy as a clam. She knows nothing of what has happened, and probably will very soon.

"I'll probably never see her again, shes been too good to me these last couple years."

The door squeaking closed slowly rises Major Dennis from his chair. He opens the door, looks both left and right, and sees only the red lights illuminating the cramped hallway. He closes the door behind him and takes a right.

Emperor Gale Atkins has just been confirmed to have passed away from natural causes.

His son Charles is meant to be coronated as the next emperor, however simultaneous actions taken by Republican forces and Christian forces have prevented this from occurring however.

The two factions have sent Nashville into an uproar as the fight over important buildings such as parliament and the royal palace. Whichever side is victorious will decide the future of New Atkins...

In light of the recent abrupt militarization, the 5th Army of Ishlomekia and the Saber Rattling Sea Fleet has been mobilized to anticipate any sudden action.

We would like to emphasize that we do indeed guarantee the independence of The city state of crossbell and will engage in military combat should the city state be provoked.

The city state of crossbell

It is clear now that Republican and Royalist forces have been defeated by the Christian Party and their supports. They now control Nashville, and the apparatus of state.

The new leader, Chief Pelley, has sued for an immediate armistice with the breakaway nation of the old Atkins Empire. Dignitaries from all nations will meet to discuss a peace treaty, although the location has yet to be determined.

The Atkins Civil War, in effect, is over.

After a public referendum on the subject was held, it is clear that 71% of Faronnians do not desire the return of the monarchy. Eric Blackwell will hold onto power as effective leader of the nation until the conclusion of a formal peace treaty with New atkins.

2345: A mildly steaming large mug sits on a table under a single red light. The steam slowly moves off the side of the mug, and drops onto the table. A pencil shaving caught underneath flattens upon the table, getting more and more soaked by coffee condensate.

"Captain Markovic, I just got off the phone with my commander. And as we are both fully aware, he is not happy. What happened with the aircraft?"

"We got them turned around in time, nobody had dropped yet. The co-pilot mentioned 12 radar contacts about 60 miles away and closing quite quickly. That was 5 minutes ago and they asked me to standby. They didn't sound worried because they said they were on radio with GC and NFMS planes."

"I understand, keep me posted the second you hear anything new. The last thing I want is platoons worth of men getting shot down over false pretenses. I'll be making a call back shortly to General Kasumi. Thank you for your patience Captain, Dennis out."
.

Captain Markovic stands from his wooden table, and looks over the dirt barrier he constructed just a day prior. He took a deep breath, and put a hand down on the table to stabilize himself. He had been awake for 63 hours without any stimulants. He had been dealing with officer incompetency for the better part of three days, non-stop. Private Leon awoke from his tablenap. He had also been awake for the better part of three days, contacting whomever needed contacting. He thought to himself about the situation, and what might happen in the next couple hours. He thought about what or how Captain Markovic was going to proceed.

"What is it Captain?" Private Leon muttered softly, with raspy morning voice.

"You've heard my half of it, I'd like to keep it that way for right now if you don't mind. I know if I were in your shoes I'd want to know everything, and right now I don't even have it. I can barely make out what's happening either."

"Roger sir, if it's okay with you I'd like to go to my bag. I can't function anymore."

"Leon...."

"Yes, sir?" Leon says somewhat worriedly.

"You're good to go, I'll come wake you in a couple hours."

"Roger sir, have a good night."

Major Dennis walks about the landing deck, hearing the ocean breeze as the minesweeper helicopter is landing.

"We had one job, and my group is the one that f---s up." He says to himself, looking down at the mounted Gatling gun on the rear of the ship.

Eight weeks to an honorable retirement and lifelong financial support from the Iononan Federal Government. Dennis thinks about the good times he has had serving the Federal Navy, and what more this exercise could have done for the people he's been training. He singlehandedly kept four thousand people from getting a decent weeks worth of training in, and from having fun on the beaches of a beautiful country.

He looks down at the gun again, as it moves just slightly left as if to look at something in the distance. He steps back from the edge and walks back toward the island. The helicopter has landed, and the pilots are walking around the aircraft checking the frame and wheels as he passes by.

"Good morning sir." They both say in unison.

"At ease guys, thanks but I'm not in the mood right now." Dennis says as he walks past with a forced smile.
The pilots look at each other as one of them shrugs. They continue on with their duty and occasionally look over their shoulder to see Dennis, eventually, making his way to the island's command door and going inside.

Captain Pastrana stands at a podium in front of a crowd of reporters from various media outlets.
"General Kozak will be with us in a moment but first off we'd like to address a few things. First off, we are not in a state or war or conflict with any nation. Second, we were in the middle of a large scale military exercise named Operation Eclipse. The main objective of the exercise was to test our mobilization ability, naval warfare, amphibious warfare, and combined arms warfare. Live munitions were utilized to increase the reality of the exercise. Infantry use simulated paint rounds and sensor fused body armor to indicate hits. As of now, our forces have been removed from the exercise and are on alert. I'll now cede the mic to General Kozak."

Kozak walks up to the podium and thanks Captain Pastrana.

"Ladies and gentlemen, due to the developing nature of the situation I have to be brief. At 1730 hours on July 25th I was contacted by General Kasumi of Great Coalition in regards to an incursion into their nation in an area that was not involved in the operation. We were not involved in any way with the incursion and ceased all training immediately. The aircraft that penetrated the airspace was able to evacuate before the GC or our interceptors could come into weapons range. This whole situation was apparently caused by a map mix up on the part of the Iononas. They were inserted into the incorrect area of operations. No loss of life has occurred as of yet and the situation is still developing. Further information will be made available to you via Captain Pastrana in the coming days."

General Kozak walks off back to his command center. Captain Pastrana returns to the podium and starts to field the questions of the reporters on the most neutral way he can.

"Sir, are we going to continue our deliveries with all these military assets in the area?" Daskalov asks Romanov

"No. We can't risk it. With the level of volatility in the region right now I don't want an incident that could lead back to me or the government. I've been trying to get some contacts developed in the law enforcement and intelligence agencies of Nation for Mutual Security and Great coalition but to no avail thus far. When I do though we will be able to push more product than ever before."

"Understood sir, I'll postpone the shipments until the waters have cooled."

Today Christopher Cormack and the Cream Sauce Army returned home to Bruma, as the Atkins forces withdrew due to the ceasefire.

The beleaguered citizens of the city, subject to the Atkins occupation, flooded the streets and cheered immensely. They sung “When Christopher Comes Marching Home Again” over and over, as Chris Cormack led his blackshirts on a Second March on Bruma, ending at the charred remains of the Cathedral of Talos.

There Cormack gave a fiery speech, stating that the cathedral, like the Cream nation, would rise from the ashes. He concluded his speech by declaring himself Duce of the reborn nation of Cream Sauce.

Romanov walks into a dimly lit bedroom. The owner of the large house sit bound and gaged wearing a bathrobe. On either side of him are two large men dressed in black tactical gear. The mans yells are muffled by the gag as Romanov gets closer.

"Calm down Yuli, your death will be swift. I'm only here to make sure you die. Your children downstairs will probably be the first ones to discover your cold corpse. Your wife had an "accident" on her way home. Drunk driver, sad business really. You do know why this is happening, right? Oh, right the gag. Well I'll just tell you. I'm here because you happen to be one of the politicians my agents have yet to corrupt. For some f--king reason, you believe in the country more than money. You've even gone as far as leaking the identity of the agents I've won over. You had to know this was coming didn't you? You're a fool if you didn't. You should have requested help from the NFMS and GC governments sooner. Now no one will be in a position to request help to get rid of me and my syndicate."

With that, Romanov leaves the room and the two men drag Yuli Fyodorov, the minister of foreign affairs, into the bathroom where they drown the minister in the bathtub and leave his body hanging half in and out of the tub. Later the next morning the press was informed of the death and an investigation laucnhed by the Federal Investigation Bureau.

Jack Ryan opens the door to his private meeting room. Within the dimly lit room is a small square oak table with four matching chairs. In the rear most chair calmly waiting is a tall man draped in shadow. Jack takes the seat across from the man.

"I'm told you're one of the best at getting places you're not supposed to be."

"I've been known to appear and disappear from time to time."

"I have a critical mission for you. But first I need to know that you understand the risks involved."

The man nods for Jack to continue.

"You will be operating in a nation that has an unknown level of corruption throughout. Last night their minister of foreign affairs was killed in a not so subtle manner along with his wife. We have reason to believe that the Daskalov Syndicate is working with elements of the government that have been corrupted. As far as we know, the president and military aren't lost yet. We are unaware of the state of their intelligence apparatus or federal level law enforcement but do know that almost all local police are either cooperative with or ignoring the syndicates activities. What I'm asking you to do is find the president and get a one on one with him to aquire an accurate picture of the situation over there. You will have the support of a team that's been on the ground for a few months now but this is their first active mission. Prior all they've been doing is observation. If you are caught, we have fabricated documents placing you as a hired assassin for the syndicate. As of now we can not be seen inside that nation. The team will assist you in any way you need. Good luck."

With that Jack reaches out and shakes the man's hand before leaving the room.

Today Christopher Cormack - Duce of Cream Sauce - gave a speech in Bruma detailing the government’s plan for recovering from the war with the Atkins Empire. This plan is based on Four Economic Battles.

The first of these is the Battle of Lira - the Atkins Dollar will be phases out and replaced with the Cream Sauce currency of the Lira.

The second is the Battle of Land - marsh and bogs will be drained in order to free up more land for publics works projects, as well as employ many civilians who have lost their jobs in the war.

The third is the Battle of Births - the government will be offering tax breaks as well as joint parental leave for couples who have children. In addition, the government will only hire married couples.

The fourth is the Battle of Expatriates - the Nation urges all ethnic Zealots to return home to Cream Sauce, and to aid in her rebuilding and recovery into a nation that they can be proud of.

Agent Kurt Wagner walks off his commercial flight from Cinica to St. Petersburg. Wagner makes his way to the baggage claim and patiently awaits his suitcase. As he waits, an average height woman with brown hair and sun glasses walks over and stands next to him.

"How's the weather in Cinina?" she asks

"It was cloudy, snowed a little." Wagner replies

"Really? I've only been there in the fall. Beautiful orange leaves falling every where."

"That would be a sight." Wagner responds as he goes through the confirmation code words in his head. These were the correct responses. This must be one of the agents we was sent to work with. Kurt walks over and collects his bag and departs the airport with his new teammate.

Romanov exits his luxury sedan and walks into a bar in downtown Saint Petersburg. Daskalov is sitting at a bar stool drinking what looks to be vodka. Romanov sits next to him and signals the bartender to get him the same drink. "They won't let this stand." Daskalov says in a low voice.

"They can't do anything about it. We have his wife and children being protected by our men. My contacts in the Federal Investigation Bureau and Sate Department will warn us of any foreign involvement."

"I trust that you'll tell me of any impending danger."

"Don't worry Vladimir, If you are in any danger I will warn you. So, have you been looking at the prospect of expanding the operations to that other island nation in the axehead sea?"

"I have, I see the potential for profit but we'd have to pushout the existing gangs and setup our own network. I'm just not sure if it would be viable."

"I'll look into the matter further for you and determine the viability. Until then, continue on your present course." With that Romanov slams back the shot of Vodka the bartender had brought and leaves the bar.

Today General Aleksande Sikorski announced his intentions to step down as head of state for Beregon following the conclusion of a formal peace with New Atkins, and will allow the transition into civilian government.

"Good morning sir.... Yes sir.... No sir.... Is that an order sir? Roger sir, wilco." Captain Markovic hears from inside the office he is sitting across from. His cold middle-school chair having seen years, if not decades, of use groans slowly from his weight. He looks at his watch; 1242 hours. He has been sitting in this chair for 3 hours waiting for whoever is in this office to call him in. Did the big man inside forget about him, or is it all part of the plan? Whatever it was, it's not like Captain Markovic had any space to complain. For all he knew, he could be getting a dishonorable discharge in 5 minutes for a mistake a higher-up made. The wait was nowhere near agonizing as he had the patience of a crocodile. 3 hours, and now 12 minutes of waiting for an unknown purpose.

Something is going to happen soon, probably. Doesn't matter, my a-- can sit anywhere for as long as needed.

The Second Apellon General Debate is slated to occur this Friday, and with many new nations gaining independence in New Atkins and conflict in Great Coalition, the Nationalist Party has been galvanized into supporting its cause for independence, especially after the Queen’s comments against allowing Apellon to ever secede.

The Liberal Party has also stepped up its efforts into maintaining its majority in Congress, attacking the Nationalist Party for wanting to isolate Apellon from the west, stripping individual rights over fearmongering, and ruining the economy by suddenly cutting it off from the UADI.

And who could forget the Conservatives and Libertarians, who are desperately trying to make gains to lessen the gap between them and the other two parties.

And of course the minor parties are feeling the heat as well. They were unable to participate in the first debate, but will be allowed to participate in this second debate. The criteria to qualify for the third debate is to poll at 10% at least one day before the debate. This is an important chance for the smaller parties.

The Dolphin Isles and Ionona

Before the Apellonian debates tonight, The Dolphin Isles has made a public statement in support of the Liberal Party, the Radical Progressive Party, and the Co-Prosperity Party for their pro-UADI views. While the support may help rally the base around these parties, it will also surely provide ammunition against the UADI and these parties by pro-secessionists.

Upon the conclusion of the Apellonian debates, it appears that the Nationalists have emerged victorious, as they now hold the lead in polling. The Liberals remain close behind though, and the Radical Progressives and Co-Prosperity made gains at the expense of every other party.

The third debate requires parties to have 10% polling to participate, so this in-between period is crucial for all parties. After the third debate elections will be just around the corner, and the future of Apellon will be decided.

A more detailed analysis of the second debate can be found here:

Kurt Wagner sat in a corner of the president's bedroom with the lights turned off. As president Voronin gets closer to the room, Kurt stands and makes his way to the door. President Voronin enters the room and closes the door. Kurt, now behind him, puts his hand over the President's mouth and kicks the back of his knee dropping him to the ground quietly. Kurt leans down and whispers into the President’s ear. “Sir I don’t intend to hurt you. I know some of the situation and I’m only here for more information. We are willing to help but need more information. I’m going to let go now. If you scream I will have to fulfil my assassin cover identity.”

Kurt removes his hand and steps back. President Voronin stands and faces Kurt.

“Sir, I don’t know who you are but I do not appreciate being assaulted in my own home.”

“I completely understand that sir but this was the only way I could meet with you without anyone seeing."

"So you say 'We are willing to help.' Who is the we in this situation."

"That's for us to decide when to disclose."

"I guess I'll have to just trust you for no reason then?"

"The reason you should trust me is because I haven't left you in a pool of your own blood. I also happen to know why your family isn't here right now and will say we can change that in a few days if you cooperate."

"How do you know this?"

"Sir, I got into the bedroom of a head of state unnoticed. I think my methods are far from the focus point right now."

President Voronin nods and gestures towards a small coffee table with two chairs.

"Shall we discuss the situation then?"
