If duu zeeh ot Kovanis flak fra distans, es zeeh hva tuu vajt kulät bindet op ej vajt buue po ej svar bakgrunt.

If you look at Kowani's flag from distance, it looks like two white balls joined by a white arch on a black background.

Kuerhyedeenistan wrote:Neat! So, learn here is treated as a transitive verb by using kind of a "dummy object" it. Do you have intransitive verbs or are they all treated this way? Take sleep for instance: I sleep it?

I accidentally left out the 'it' in the translations; it in this case avoiding having to repeat a word, ie "Have you read the book?" 'Yes, I have read it.'

I sleep would just be sérn él.

You're right! Mind blown XD

I assume the fist in your flag is the BLM fist Kowani? (I think I've seen it outside of that context as well, but recently it seems to be exclusively connected to BLM).

Ah ok, so nothing unusual going on with the transitivity then. :)

L'é's.
It is, yes.

It's a common symbol of solidarity. The black one is for solidarity with black people and therefore used by the BLM. Other colours stand for other institutions.

Looks like we're in a bit of a wave of East Asian conlangs. So cool to see several people going away from the "standard" IE conlang trope. :D

Where are my language isolate gang at?

-Astoria- wrote:Where are my language isolate gang at?

*Proud isolateur raising hand*

My current main language Kuerhyét was meant to be an isolate, but I'm considering making my newest language, Inna, a distant relation, so they will constitute a small family instead of being isolates. None of them have IRL relatives, though they are inspired by certain language families and areas.. I strive to make sure they're not too close to them though.

I don't have much patience for diachronics, so I mostly do isolates. I tend towards SAE-ish phonology systems (with just a balanced few oddities thrown in) and either only slightly more analytic or synthetic than your average IE-lang - never fully isolating nor polysynthetic. In those regards I might (somewhat shamefully, I admit) consider myself amongst the IE(ish) conlanger crew.

Yes! I'm still working on the history of Manan, but the concept is that during the 1550's, Korean merchants come to Mananban and introduce the Hangul script. Over time Hangul becomes popular, but in order for the Hangul script to be properly used, Mananbanese had to be adjusted to work with the script. So...yeah you could say that Mananban is based off of Korean, if not heavily influenced.

Hello hello! I'm back after about a week of being ill and other personal stuff.

Haven't done much conlang stuff during that time as I have been focused on trying to make some of my own music and playing a certain game for about 7 hours straight with a low-end PC.

I did a bit of Aruzhin numbers, zero to ten:
Zero - N˙l
One - Otini
Two - Liiri
Three - K˙limi
Four - Naakiri
Five - T˙szhimi
Six - Keiliri
Seven - Säreenimi
Eight - Maruoniri
Nine - Küroonimi
Ten - N˙lki

Again, I am focusing on Aruzhin for now.

Welcome back! Glad to hear you're feeling better. :)

Interesting numbers! They seem to be a pretty thorough mix of (presumably old) Finnic and Slavic loans as well as original substrate (or is it all loans from F or S, just not that transparent?). The -imi (-ini) / - iri alternation is a nice touch! Any rationale behind it or is it "coincidental"?

In other news: ns suddenly gave me the opportunity to name my nation leader. I was hard pressed to come up with a name, and ended fairly randomly with Nycelina Haroheyķn, which kind of translates to Woman-lina Potato-person. XO

..don't know how long I'll let her stay in power..

Acrua

Somehow this game already uses my conlang more then I do.
I got the name 'Attila Atano' in one of my issues. The word Atano in Acrur means I will be. XD
