CUBAN REPUBLIC INVITES STATE-OWNED PETROL FIRMS FOR JOINT DRILLING PROJECTS WITH CUBAN STATE OIL COMPANY

    February, 1996

As economic revitalization efforts become forefront and paramount to the Cuban government, Fidel Castro has reached out internationally toward likely candidates for a joint Cuban-Foreign offshore drilling project off the coast of the North Cuba Basin, estimated to contain enough petroleum to produce at least 1.1 billion barrels, some estimates as high as 9.6 billion barrels. Currently, Cuba does not have the equipment or expertise to handle such a project on it's own and therefore necessity for foreign involvement.

The discovery of aforementioned crude oil reserve estimates could prove to launch the Cuban economy out of the current recession. Despite the damage control put forth by recent reforms, shortages of basic needs is becoming a dire reality, largely due to the cut of Soviet subsidies that propped up the island's economy for decades. Although a risk, Castro and subordinates agreed that true Cuban sovereignty could only be attained by restoring domestic economic security as opposed to the mire of almost complete foreign nurture.

"Only the Cuban people, solely, collectively, can lift Cuba out of this recession and restore it's true sovereignty, dignity, and spirit. The time is now to mobilize the people of Cuba and by the grace of revolutionaries such as Jose Martí or comrade Guevara, we will be victorious!", Castro was quoted as he delivered a fiery speech to a crowd of 179,000 in Havana's Plaza de la Revolución, just below a steel framework of revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara. White, Red, and Blue flags of the Republic flanked by OD Green uniformed Cuban Revolutionary Army soldiers littered the crowd as the people and military alike cheered in solidarity.

"Cuba has absolute right to seek it's own path toward an economically prosperous future. The powers that be use economic sabotage and punish the Cuban people as a result. We will not be starved, we will not be lynched by the economic interests of the first world, neither D.C. nor Moscow."

President Machel: "O dear brother, your use of the past tense makes me laugh. No, the process of decolonization is an ongoing fight which has certainly made my presidency difficult. Not only to I have to oversee the normal day-to-day proceedings of the country, but I must also oversee the destruction of the Portuguese legacy. It's a hard-fought process, one I certainly expect to be uncompleted until well after my death. Only time will tell how successful we are in moving away from the time of trial, but I hope I have set the nation on the right path."

| The East African Federation has organized an exposition to occur in Ottowa marketing investment opportunities in both private and public sectors- namely, East Africarms, Leclère Weapons Systems, Ifa Assab Faltama, East African Nuclear Conglomerate, and East Africa Rails will be sending representatives along with representatives of other smaller businesses and the Ministry of Economics. These representatives will be tasked with advertising investing in East African businesses to Canadian and potential Paramerican investors. The Free Republic of Mozambique, on the other hand, will be dispatching representatives from its own government to the exposition alongside the East African representatives to advertise Mozambique as a sort of clean slate for investors and business companies, seeing as how the process of decolonization has left Mozambique ripe for economic development on its own accord. |

President Kajombo: “I’m sorry to hear that brother. The process here was swift and pretty painless. It felt like in 2 years we were all speaking Swahili to talk to our many different groups. It angers me that I even had to speak the devil language that is Portuguese. “
