WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO THIS!?
With reports coming from the morgues and hospitals of civilians and tourists having traces of a modified version of "Rezihkre", a fungi only found in the Abyssal sea and Western Astonilandian territories where it is known for its horrifying quality to learn and to take over a victim at such a pace it is almost impossible to cure with the after effects being disatrous to the infected most cures are heavily damaging to the nervous system and the patient's mental health, it also spreads at such a pace that the Western garrions are a few of the places in Astoniland with a flamethrower with even the fire department being allowed to burn forests if a example of this fungi is found being particullary weak to heat.
But what isn't horrifying is that it's in their bodies, what is horrifying is that it was synthesized into a drug with chemicals and pollutants being present in the samples being taken from the dead meaning that somewhere there's a plantation of fungi with people unknowingly dooming not only themselves but posisbly surrounding countries and so Astoniland knew she had to act quick and introduced "Protocol 0".
Sadly democracy didn't come as fast with the protocol prohibiting gatherings of people without use of a mask making voting impossible, this angered many in the liberal sector of the political spectrum who thought this was all just an act for the current dictator to keep power causing protests with only furthered worried the government which had to use the National Guard to disperese and force them back home with martial law on ports and heavily populated areas instated due to the amount of protest again the government.
Protocol 0 also enforced the delivery of masks which proved horribly expensive but it was worth it with most of the urban and rural population having masks provided to them, lessons on how this fungi works where also spread around with the government handing out phamflets with pictures of the fungi being pasted around the city and countries the government radio stations also provided instructions on how to get rid of an infected body stating that it should be carried with gloves, put in a sack then burnt until nothing but the bone was left after the body was gone anything that the infected might have slept on or wore should be burnt alongside the body to avoid spores sticking and infecting another family member of the person.
Hospitals were also stricly sanitized with wings made for the infected or well overdosed so that the cleaning procedure would be made much easier along with preventing infection, sadly no visitors of the infected could go visitim them fearing that the family members might get attacked by other patients with the doctors already having incidents where the patients attacked hospital staff with currently two killed one got their face smashed open and the other one got stabbed mid-brain surgery by the patient.
An investigation on how this drug came to be was also launched with Astoniland adivisng people to look out for possible symptoms of this new drug and disease putting their translators to work trying to spread their current research onto the outside world and possible treatments to avoid massacres hundreds if not thousand of times larger than those that the West had experienced.

Selling the old, and buying the new!
After being conotacted by Vigneulles Astoniland quickly bought several artillery pieces seeking to integrate them into her armed forces but they still saw more oportunity in this looking further East specifically to the Sloumorn after all why shouldn't they make a quick buck? And so has the new pieces were integrated and the soldiers trained to use them the nation began offering the different factions of the so called Truth Wars artillery but not only that, they had several left over supplies in Al-Sandula laying around so why not sell those too?
Medicine, old Al-Sandulan guns, a few Maxims, Artillery, and ammo were some of the thing the Astonilandian government to the factions but refrainned from officially taking a side with all sides seemingly losing or stuck in a stalemate with another side so it was pointless to sour relations in a war where no good progress was being made, no soldiers or trainning was offered either in contrast to the Al-Sandulan civil war where constant military trainning was given and combat was constant, here they kept their distance simply focusing on selling the equipment and if the adventure went well maybe they would sell prototypes to test them out in combat.
The offers of the better equipment went to the front against the Ix fearing a situation like Draconovox rising agian with the remaining equipment being sold to the Patrons who had told the official sources that the enemy they were fighting was weak and could be easily defeated, but with the logistics team being literally driven insane due to the distance and paths that they could take not much else was offered with plans to send clothing or Rhomanian grain to Sloumorn canceled due to how expensive the operation would simply be.

Public alarm over the spread of the so-called “rezihkre fungus” has forced the Deskoslovakian government to take drastic measures to contain the disease, which has been branded as the
“Astoniland plague” by scaremongers in the press. The Republic’s legislature has formed the Komysja Sanacja (Sanation Commission), which will be responsible for monitoring the disease’s spread and formulating an appropriate national response, as well as providing the public with verified information about the fungus’s effects and symptoms.
One of the commission’s top priorities is to secure the Republic’s great port cities on the western coast, which officials fear could be an entry point for the fungus. The price of stocks fell in the national exchange as the Deskoslovakian customs police began to enforce quarantine periods on any ships that had docked in Astoniland up to three weeks prior to the first reports of the outbreak. Cross-Channel trade will likely suffer from these measures until a cure for the diseases is developed.
The Republic’s secret services have also been investigating rumors that quantities of the fungus are being smuggled into Deskoslovakia by organized criminal elements in Kasjia— if these rumors are proven true, relations between the two republics could turn sour.

Domestic Fighter Program and other Developments
With the Outremerians producing aircraft designed to intercept and attack other aircraft, a concept that the Olivedrabians had toyed with but ultimately decided against in order to focus limited aircraft funds towards the development of a bomber, the Olivedrabian military feels the need to design and produce a domestic fighter, rather than simply purchase fighters from abroad. To accomodate this, two things are done: the Air Legion is expanded into a full corps sized command in the Army, receiving a greater share of funding and manpower of the Army. Secondly, a permanent ministry is established, devoted to the research and development of tactics, technology, and airframes.
Though not technically part of the fighter program, the Army has begun to purchase land in the countryside to build airstrips and hangars on to make the once ad hoc deployment and maintenance of aerial assets more efficient and centralized.
State of the Navy
Battleships
The Imperial Navy has been pursuing construction and development of new assets at a prodigious rate, seeking to maintain the Empire's numerical and technological edge over all other nations on the high seas. After the Invictus class Battleships were launched, three more battleships began to be constructed, incorporating new technologies and design insights. The Paternus class (unofficially known as the Diety Class), consists of three ships: Paternus, Mara, and Opian. They possess the same configuration as previous big gun battleships, with 5 twin barrelled turrets, 3 on the centerline, and two on the wings, granting the ships an 8 gun broadside. Nearly completed, they may already be nearing obsolescence, as designs for a new class of "Super Battleships" with 5 centerline turrets are rumored to be in development.
With the new modern warships entering service, the Old Pre-Audax battleships find themselves utterly obsolete and reduced to reserve duties. Seeking to make a bit of money off these old hulks, however, the Olivedrabian government has sent feelers out to the government of Astoniland, offering to sell the two Colossus class battleships to their navy, built in 1882. The 4 other Pre-Audax battleships are to be sold for scrap to save on maintenance costs.
Light Forces and Torpedo Warfare
20 A-Class Destroyers were built from 1909 to 1910. Powered entirely by oil, they outclass all previous light warships developed for the Olivedrabian military in speed, endurance, and torpedo armament.
Though Submarines are by no means a new concept, Olivedrabia has not constructed any, as the usage of such vessels was considered unbecoming of a gentleman and unnecessary, as the Imperial Navy dominates the high seas. However, a small crowd of young naval officers are proposing the idea of developing long range submarines designed to hunt and sink hostile capital ships. Though the technology is not yet there, the idea is nonetheless interesting, and the Olivedrabian navy may change its tune in the coming decades.
Battlecruisers
Olivedrabia's cruiser fleet is explicitly not designed for sustained combat, instead used for maritime patrol and interdiction duties. Seeing as many nations have employed a fleet of smaller, faster vessels than Olivedrabia has, the idea of building a vessel with the speed of a cruiser and the firepower of a battleship has begun to take form. The belief is that such a vessel will be capable of acting as the fleet's "Flying Formation", a portion of a fleet capable of moving at speed to outmaneuver the enemy's battle line and hopefully force it into the friendly battle line's firing range. Additionally, they could hunt and intercept enemy commerce raiders, being able to outgun almost any vessel that could have the speed and operational range to harass commerce.
Political Developments
As elections were announced following the official crowning of Emperor Marcus, a fiery campaign season involving not 2, not 3, but 4 political factions: the Optimates, Populares, Vox, and the newly minted Aquila raged. Having a victory under their belt, the Optimates-Populares coalition was expected to win with a larger margin than last time, and that they did, as Vox and Aquila (Aquila being spawned from the stratocratic ideology of Atrius Faustus) cannibalized eachother's voter base, ensuring that many close elections went to either the Optimates or the Populares. The Optimates for the fourth Senate in a row select one of their own for the office of Consul, one Marcus Lucceius Barbatus.

Paint It Black
Oil money makes the world go round, that is a fact. Almost all major countries in Coldonia have enormous oil and natural gas reserves, except Haute-Outremer...or so it seemed. Back in 1912, an amateur geologist called Raymond Trist discovered oil seeping through the ground in the foothills of Southern Aspatria. He thought this was quite a curious anomaly, and decided to do further research on it. He contacted a long friend of his, Valerie Salthouse, and the duo decided to explore Southern Aspatria to look for similar oil anomalies. As they traveled, they found that almost all parts of the area they explored were covered in the strange, gooey liquid. After this, they published a paper in the world-famous Natural magazine about their findings and the possibility of there being massive underground oil reserves. Scientists and geologists from all over the world decided to travel to Aspatria to repeat what Trist and Salthouse had done, travel around the region to find these so-called "oil anomalies". Almost all reported similar findings. As rumors of oil in Aspatria became more widespread, Trist and Salthouse contacted Haute-Outremer's government-owned petrol company, Royal Epsilon, to notify them about the peculiar findings. Royal Epsilon, interested in the prospect of potentially striking black gold, set up a network of various oil wells across the Aspatrian countryside to see if one or more wells could find the precious liquid.
When Royal Epsilon set up that first well, Outremerian history changed forever. On October 18th, 1913, oil was found near the town of Reginald. When this was notified to Epsilon higherups, they immediately notified the government about the findings. Overnight, Trist and Salthouse became household names and national heroes, and a massive Oil Rush started. The government ordered Royal Epsilon to set up even more wells than originally intended, and set up a so-called "Oil Fund" called the Government Pension Fund, so all of the money obtained from the Aspatria Oil Reserve could be saved and then invested in things such as infrastructure and other vital government projects. The discovery of oil in Aspatria, coupled with Futurist policies, has made political scientists predict that Haute-Outremer will recover faster than expected. Some even predict that due to the Oil Boom, Haute-Outremer in a couple of years will even be able to challenge the Olivedrabian economic hegemony, but only time will tell if that ever happens. The discovery of oil has also caused the radical rise in car ownership due to a radical lowering of gas prices and cars becoming cheaper, making Haute-Outremer one of the most motorized countries in the world.

KONEC KAVALRJE? / THE END OF THE CAVALRY?
In the decades since the First Great War, Deskoslovakian military planners have sought to anticipate the demands of a future war fought with modern technological innovations, like the airplane and the armored vehicle. The tension of the 1905 Sotnian crisis very nearly led to an armed conflict, which the Republic would have been unprepared for, but since then, the top commanders of the Republic’s military have worked feverishly to devise a national strategic doctrine for their army and navy. The planners are heavily influenced by the experiences of the previous generation in the 1880s, which saw the end of massed infantry assaults and the rise of static trench warfare. In the event of a war with Deskoslovakia’s probable adversaries, it is believed that the conflict will eventually turn into a slow grind of attrition.
This has led some influential officers to call for the complete abolition of mounted cavalry units. Cavalry forces were a mainstay of the royal Desskian army for centuries, playing a vital role as skirmishers, scouts, and shock troops. However, their vulnerability to modern weaponry has made the cavalry charge almost entirely obsolete, motor vehicles are seen as a superior alternative to horse transport, and the scout planes of the nascent Deskoslovakian air service have taken over the traditional cavalry role of reconnaissance. Finally, many staunch republicans see the cavalry as one of the final relics of the decadent monarchy— not an entirely unfair accusation, since the cavalry originally drew many of its recruits from the aristocratic classes.
While Deskoslovakian cavalry will likely remain to fulfill internal security and ceremonial duties, it will increasingly become sidelined as the Deskoslovakian army prepares for an inevitable return to the mud and gore of the trenches.

| Analysis of and by the brightest minds in both Eastern and Western parts of the Timurengiin have decisively concluded that the current advantage in trade has fallen in favor of the Slobist State in the east - as the great ports of Mongke and Olivgrad are firmly within their territorial grasp upon the very edges of their eastern most borders - at the mouth of the Bostuk-Drina river and the Northern sea, along with these two most significant ports has fallen the majority of the pre-war trade fleet which due to the nature of the war remain widely intact and are in full operational duty. This advantage in trade capacity and port access is counter-weighted however by the sharp decline of resources of which the Slobist State of Draconovox has to offer the world, as the country has suffered the worst of the war and has been left not only barren but bereft of the West's vast deposits of natural resources particularly in the Mir-Gory mountain ranges.
| Interestingly, this has formed an informal and undisclosed relationship of inter-trade between the East and West where resources from the west are traded by the East for a profitable and stable share. However, the West is not content on this situation - with profit margins becoming more narrow and under the threat of narrowing in the future by their independent partner in the east: and plans are being outlined by Trade directors under the President to begin refitting the River Cities of Rekamchi and Gvardograd along the Tzapad to accommodate larger trade vessels and a larger capacity of traffic to increase the flow of direct trade to customers further west.
| Further Analysis of Trade partners has yielded many profitable possibilities: With states such as Al-Sandlua, Haute Outremer, and Ueshido entering periods of relative peace where they may be able to enter the market again - aswell as strong trade nations of which Western Draconovox has good relations with such as Olivedrabia: as for other states both hostile and neutral, it is only a matter of handling as to whether they open to trade or not.
| As for the SSD, it remains to be seen as to how they will approach relations - with their only strong relations being held with Serbatiya, though such relations have translated into strong industrial support and economic guidance. But still, the East requires resources of which is is lacking - and is in a precarious international situation of which it is being decisively outmaneuvered by its more fortunate western counterpart. Efforts are being made however to attempt to use Serbatiyan trade strengths by proxy, acting as a subdivision of a stronger combined trade confederation which could see SSD ships use Serbatiyan trade routes at the cost of a reasonable share of royalties, though it remains to be seen if this prospect will develop.

| A threatening strain of Highly transmissible and lethal fungal sickness has taken root in Astoniland and Deskoslovakia, of which Draconovox has no current strong trade/migration relations with - except for long range Astoniland cartels: Of which Zapomnia has ordered a complete shut down of activity with. Cautious measures will be used for all embassies, diplomatic missions, migration, and trade movements. Though it remains to be seen as to how this Sickness can be scientifically verified within an individual by test, anyone who displays the usual symptoms will be detained and quarantined without exception - thus all nations planning diplomatic missions to Draconovox are Advised to perform a strict regiment of precautions beforehand, this applies for general migration as well. This is a policy that is mirrored in both the SSD(Slobist State of Draconovox) and the FD(Drakonov Federation).
| Interesting Astronomical sightings have been made by various independent astronomers and space scientists in the New world - with A loose but generally agreed upon idea of a possible near-miss comet approaching the Planet. Astronomical temples in Draconovox are yet to confirm such suspicions and sightings, but a general plan of action will be proposed to the international community is such a possibility were to happen.

The Communal Council: The Fate of the King
Following the announcement of the unconditional surrender, the disarmament of the Nationals, the dissolution of the Royalist state and end of the civil war, a new news, a news which brought a grin to all the members that heard it, King Francisco IV, Sovereign and Most Serene King of Portuia and Defender of the Portuia, was found huddled with a family of 3 in the rural villages of a region south of Azulcide.
The King was found wearing peasant clothes and simple garments while his small retinue of guards were also in peasant clothing, trying to fit in. No gunfight occured as the soldiers presented an ultimatum that if the guards were to stand down, an amnesty will be given to them. The King meanwhile was put under arrest and immediately sent towards an unspecified location under high security. From then, many speculate where he went and it remained as an extremely tight kept secret of where he was.
His family, meanwhile, has been in captivity since the capture of Lesbonice, but under the benevolent intercession of many appeals of Syndicalist citizens of Lesbonice, who claimed that the Queen, Queen Anna Felicia, with the potential for being trialed as treasonous, hid and saved many Syndicalist citizens from the wrath of the Gendarmeria, was given an amnesty and forgiven for their involvement in the war. The family was granted a home in Lesbonice and allowed to live out their lives peacefully, but was still strip of their titles and royal possession, as standard for all nobles involved in the war.
This was followed by a message stating that all who surrender and put down their arms would be granted an amnesty, additionally stating that they are all brethren, wishing to see no more harm done against each other, as each side fought for what they think was right. Yet those who still remain defiant, those who continue to resist, will be spared no weight from the hammer of judgement.

DESKOSLOVACKY FÜTÜRYZM / DESKOSLOVAKIAN FUTURISM
Although Deskoslovakia’s politics are firmly controlled by the political establishment, many minor political factions exist on the fringe, hoping to expand their influence by collaborating with the larger parties. The Deskoslovakian Futurists are one such group, organized into the Partïja Fütüryztyka Prohresyvna (Futurist Progressive Party) which was founded in 1909. Inspired by the highly-devolved republican model in Haute-Outremer, they reject the materialistic, economy-focused politics of the leading conservative and social democrat parties, believing that abandonment of tradition and accelerated technological advancement will allow mankind to transcend to a new age of greatness.
The PFP is best-known for its bizarre stunts, such as interrupting the meetings of other parties by yelling nonsensical phrases (representing the meaningless of contemporary politics) and performing amateur airshows to awe the public with the beauty of technology. However, despite their colorful reputation, the party is unable to make electoral gains beyond a minor segment of eccentric intellectuals due to low funding and the perceived absurdity of their policy goals, such as legalizing homosexual relationships and abolishing capitalism.

Lady Fantasy
Darrell Hopkins was in the process of writing a very special book. He had been ordered by the Az-Bandaian government to translate the Lavoskikia into his native Outremerian tongue and was given full liberty over the translation. The Lavosians were oddly open and accepting of Futurist ideals, and believed that to spread the good Lady's word, "different interpretations must be made so our dear religion can be potentially accepted by the whole world". Hopkins, a staunch Futurist himself, fully believed in Lavosian ideals and believed that if Lavosianism was to ever become popular in Haute-Outremer, he needed to do some essential changes to the Lavoskikia so it could be accommodated to the Outremerian lifestyle. He wanted to fuse Futurist ideals and Lavosianism, so a new, syncretic religion could be made. In fact, he believed that the "Futurist Lavoskikia" would be so different from the original one that he would essentially be creating a new religion. While he feared that his book would be reduced to nothing more than a "weird cultist thing" made by a madman, he had some hope. He believed that due to the radical Futurist beliefs of this new Lavoskikia, he would be able to convince a lot of people and make them convert to the religion. People in Haute-Outremer were some of the most religious on the planet before the SocNats, but after they took over, they destroyed the Oremian faith. Clearly, Deus had failed the Outremerian people, and if Hopkins wanted to get rid of the plague that was Atheism, he needed to introduce a new religion, an avant-garde and futurist one at that. Lady Lavosi, or how she was now called in the Outremerian translation, Lady Fantasy, seemed to answer Hopkins' request. She was a cosmic deity who had created all of the other deities most people worship nowadays. She was a fountain of benevolence who loved all of her children, no matter how flawed they were. She was going to be the one who would guide the Outremerian folk to the stars. It was not going to be Deus, it was going to be his creator.
But, how radically different was the Futurist Lavoskikia, or how it was actually called, the Fantasia, going to be from the original Lavoskikia? Apart from basic name changes, at first glance, it just seemed to be a regular Lavoskikia. Once you actually delved into it though, the Fantasia slowly but surely would become its own thing with every page turned.

When the Universe was young, foolish, and chaotic, there was no one to guide it. The throne of the universe was empty, and the cosmos was pure, unfiltered anarchy. That all changed when Lady Fantasy was born. Fantasy's birth was as chaotic as it was destructive. There were once two stars, Palia and Vesperia, that orbited each other. They danced a perfect and ordered waltz, and were one of the only things in the universe that made any sort of sense. One day, Vesperia and Palia's dance was suddenly no more, and they flew too close to each other. The stars crashed, and the explosion that was created birthed Lady Fantasy. Her birth was a miracle, as Palia and Vesperia's dance was the last thing in the vast and empty cosmos that had any sort of order. When she was awakened, the Old Universe was no more. Seeing the state of her new home, she used her powers in benevolent ways. She brought order to the cosmos, and arranged the stars in perfect and never before seen ways. Planemos now had stars, stars had galaxies, and galaxies had superclusters. Every cosmic object now had a reason to exist, no matter how small or big it was. But, there was something that bothered Fantasy.
She had the perfect universe, yet she was still not satisfied with her work. She traveled around her creation for millions of years, looking for inspiration and ideas. One day, while she was traveling in a galaxy she had named Ixia, she encountered a star she had named Sol. Sol seemed to be the perfect star, it wasn't too hot or too cold, had no planets that orbited around it, and it was a beautiful bright yellow color. Sol quickly became one of Fantasy's favorite stars. She would often meditate near it and verified that nothing bad ever happened to it. One day, while she was appreciating Sol, she finally realized why she was not satisfied with the cosmos, it didn't have any other beings. She was the only lifeform in this vast and lonely universe, she wanted to create something that lived she could look after. After various meditation sessions, she finally devised the so-called "perfect being", she called them "homine". Homine were to live in a planet that Fantasy created just for them, called "Gaia". Gaia, along with 7 other planets, orbited around Sol. Gaia was by far Fantasy's dearest creation, it was the perfect world for homine. Homine were to share Gaia with other beings, which Fantasy called "Animalia".
The first Homine were named Rio and Vita. They and their children and their children's children founded Gaia's first "civilita", the Realm of Bandaia. Bandaia was a wealthy and prosperous realm that invested in scientific progress all in the name of Fantasy. They built shrines, observatories, laboratories, and other so-called "Brain Temples" that would allow them to understand the world that surrounded them. Bandaia was utopian in nature, and it remained like that for thousands of years, but something lamentable happened.
There was once an homine by the name of Echo. Echo was someone who wanted to see the stars and Fantasy for himself, but didn't actually know how to reach them. One day, while asleep, he had a vision. In his vision, he saw a ginormous tower of stone that touched the sky. When Echo tried to climb it, he suddenly woke up. He was now determined to build that tower of stone, which he called the "Tower of Atelier". However, what he didn't know, is that he would doom Bandaia and all homine with his tower. Days, weeks, months, years passed, and finally, after approximately 10 years, the Tower of Atelier was finished. When Fantasy saw this, she was utterly disappointed. Homine had committed a great sin, curiosity. She wanted to hide from Homine, she just wanted to be a simple spectator, so, she unfortunately had to punish her own creation. As Echo was climbing the Tower, it suddenly started violently shaking, then, it fell apart. Echo died a horrible death, but also cursed Bandaia forever. People suddenly couldn't communicate with each other anymore, they all spoke different tongues and dialects. At first, the Bandaian rulers tried to keep the peace, but, it was simply too much to handle. Bandaia split into several realms after violent uprisings, and the era of a united Homine was suddenly no more. War, however, was now Homine's universal language.
Publishing the Book
After months of writing, Hopkins has decided to publish the book. Only time will tell if it becomes as successful as he hopes and if his fellow Lavosians are happy with the result. In the meanwhile, he has requested the Az-bandaian government to construct a Blakovik in Montbel, the capital of Haute-Outremer and his hometown.

VETYRANE REVANCZYZM / THE VETERANS OF REVANCZISM
While Deskoslovakia was officially uninvolved in the turmoil of the Second Great War, many of the Republic’s more militant citizens felt that it was a good chance to avenge their nation’s loss in the First Great War, where the Kingdom of Desskia stood with Koedric against the combined might of Olivedrabia and her numerous allies. These “veterans”, who served mostly in the highly-disciplined Koedrian Army, represent the most radical aspect of the Revanczists, a highly nationalistic anti-Gladian political movement that has exercised a strong influence over Deskoslovakian politics since the establishment of the Republic in 1892.
Experiences at the front have turned them from idealistic volunteers into hardened, bitter men with a taste for violence and a disdain for normal politics. Consequently, their revanczist ideals have become more radical; rather than seeking to fight Deskoslovakia’s external enemies, the veterans’ movement believes that the true enemy of the people is the corrupt parliamentary system that hinders Deskoslovakia from achieving her national destiny. This anti-government, anti-establishment sentiment is amplified by the government’s decision to officially ignore the veterans, who are seen as an embarrassing exception to Deskoslovakia’s position of neutrality. As a result, veterans who suffer from disabilities or mental trauma receive no support from the Republic that they believed they were fighting for, and their inability to transition back into civilian life leads them to congregate in closely-knit veteran’s groups.
While this movement is entirely shunned by the major parties, it remains influential on the far right of Deskoslovakian politics; the veterans are romanticized in the public image as selfless heroes who fought for the honor of Deskoslovakia, only to be betrayed by self-serving politicians.

MYSÏJA Ü ONKADÏJÜ / MISSION TO ONCADIA
Marko Kïrol’s stomach roiled from the ceaseless pitching of the ship as it plowed through the crashing waves of the Channel. He had no appetite for traveling by sea, despite being Desolosvakia’s foreign minister. The minister shut his eyes and marshaled all his strength to resist vomiting. He willed his mind to drift off to sleep, but thoughts of his assignment conspired with the nausea to keep him awake in the darkness of his cabin.
His diplomatic mission, consisting of himself and his personal staff, was steaming at top speed to Oncadia. There, he was to meet with his opposite number, Mr. Pierre Belmont. If the negotiations went well, Coldonia’s nations would soon learn of a mutual defense pact between the two republics, an agreement based on a common commitment to defending democratic ideals that transcended the old enmity between Deskh and Gladian.
The idea for a defensive alliance with a fellow democratic power was Kïrol’s, and he saw it as a necessary step to ensure that Deskoslovakia was not totally isolated on the world stage. Months prior, he had confidentially cabled the Oncadia Ministry of Foreign Relations to probe their interest in the concept and received an eager reply. However, it was still not clear to the queasy diplomat whether the talks in Montais would bear fruit.

I Spy
Reconnaissance is something often forgotten about in the realm of aviation. The top dogs of air command always chit-chat about great and obviously very important things such as fighters or bombers, but everybody seems to forget about reconnaissance planes. For some air officers, reconnaissance is what wins wars. With it, you know your enemy better than he knows himself, and you can develop tactics that will counter anything that he throws at you. And, one of the best ways to do reconnaissance is through aerial means. Recon planes were some of the first planes ever deployed on the battlefield. Even if they didn't do the actual fighting, they were still very important due to the aforementioned reasons. Haute-Outremer's main recon aircraft is the now quite outdated Yarborough I. While still very much a capable aircraft, compared to the latest and greatest models, it falls short and looks and feels old already. To solve this very important issue, the Air Force (which is a part of the army, at least for the time being) has ordered Royal Lea the construction of a new recon aircraft model. This has resulted in the creation of the Lea Le 7. The Le 7 is of conventional construction with a two-bay biplane configuration.

DESKOSLOVACSKO JANOÜZES PAKT Z ONKADÏJA / DESKOSLOVAKIA ANNOUNCES PACT WITH ONCADIA
On December 10th, 1915, diplomats from Deskoslovakia and Oncadia successfully concluded negotiations for a mutual defense agreement between their two nations. The resulting pact stated that if one of the two nations faced military aggression, the other would be obliged to join the war on the first nation’s behalf. The agreement is intended as a passive measure to deter aggression by other Coldonian nations. In their statements to the press, the Republic’s Foreign Office heavily emphasized the pact's defensive nature and peaceful intent.

Hands shake. Cameras flash. Documents are signed. Smiles and polite gestures are exchanged.
The meeting between the Deskoslovakian diplomat Marko Kïrol and the Oncadian diplomat Pierre Belmont has bared fruit, and from it comes a defensive treaty signed between the two nations, guaranteeing one another independence and security in an increasingly insecure world. With it, comes a new shift in Oncadian foreign policy. For many years Oncadia has been courting and indirectly supporting the nations of the Gladiosphere, a bloc of nations derived from the old Olivedrabian Empire and her colonies. But with this treaty arises an Oncadia more willing to seek out friends elsewhere, a shift away from the Gladio-centric policy held by previous administrations.
Some worry of a possible Olivedrabian response to the treaty. Perhaps an increase in tariffs? Colder relations? Or perhaps even more?
Others praise the treaty as another step towards asserting Oncadian sovereignty and distancing themselves from their former colonial masters.
Whatever the treaty is, it could be a sign of more to come.

"Albin, what exactly have you summoned me for?"
Oliver Hart, Minister of the Interior stood before the President's desk, haven woken up at 6 in the morning in order to answer a supposedly "important" call from the President. The president himself looked disheveled, having most likely worked throughout the whole night to finalize the negotiations with the Deskoslovakian emissary who had drafted a treaty to sign just a few days ago.
"Oliver, I need to ask you about something. Something relating to the papers we found on that journalist, Eric LeBlanc?"
Oliver had a sudden moment of realization, as he began to memorize the events of the day and the days leading up to it. They had found out that a journalist had somehow gained access to classified documents, ones that could bring down the whole government if used by the wrong people. Oliver suddenly began to shiver, as though the room had suddenly dropped by 10 degrees. Had they been found out? Was the jig up? Did the press find out the true extent of the corruption that penetrated deep into the Oncadian government's core? It would end his career, stain his name for the rest of time.
"Is it bad?", was all he could say, unable to muster up the courage to prod the President for more.
"Nothing bad, at least for now. But, I need you to do something for me.", Albin remarked, as though seemingly unphased by the looming threat of a career-ending news story dropping. "I need you to burn the LeBlanc Files. I need them gone. I don't even know why we kept them for this long!", he ranted "This is a, how do you say it? A Sword of Damocles, hanging right over our necks and threatening to skewer us like some kind of Serbatiyan kebab!"
Oliver thought of the tale of Damocles, an ancient, and probably mythical Olivedrabian prince who had lusted for power and begged his father to allow him to rule. After obliging, his father hung a sword, suspended by a single strand of horse hair, and it was positioned right above his head. When questioning his father about this odd placement of a sword, his father replied, telling him to always fear power, as it could act just like the Sword suspended over his head.
"I'll do it. I'll burn it and I'll supervise it myself."
Seemingly satisfied, the President leaned back in his chair and dismissed the Minister, who obliged and shuffled away into the labyrinthine hallways of the Presidential Palace.
But the documents would not be burned, for they could not be found. Soon, the very corruption and incompetency the LeBlanc Files detailed took hold, and the missing Files were covered up. Neither the President nor the Minister would be informed of the missing files, and a fake document was found and burned in its stead, satisfying the Minister's promise to watch the documents burn himself.
But where had the files gone? Or more importantly, to whom had they gone?
