Jodie Whittaker.

I'm happy with her. Good choice. Now let's see what kind of a Doctor she'll be!

I finally finished moving all the important images from PB to Picload and edited the Magazine, signatures and some important role playing posts. The only thing I'm not going to do, is move and update the images for the museum
as they run on two forums.

What's all this kick off about PB?

Also, what's all this kick off about a female Doctor?

One is likely a more legitimate concern than the other, I suspect.

Celestial maple

How dare you!! How can you not be tuned to the Hostage situation with Photobucket:)
They are holding Million of Images of innocent users - at Gun point (aka 400usd payment yearly) out of the bloom without even a warning.

Female Doctor who sounds dumb. I can understand making a new series (not related) and then giving a woman a leading role but to create a copy, only with female lead?
Well its like Hollywood during the past 10 years - repeating movies only with African American cast to appeal to the now mix audience (which btw is a major fail)

I have to admit, I'm out of the loop with PB because I haven't used it in years.

As for this hoo-har about the Doctor being a woman, I have to say I just don't get it. Imagine that kind of silliness if they'd chosen a black person for the role. That's on the same level for me. Nobody has seen what they'll do with the role and the character. If it's tokenism and they've picked someone for the sake of it being a woman, then OK: criticism warranted.

But Jodie Whittaker is quite the talented actress from what I've seen (she's fantastic in Broadchurch as a grieving mother, for example) and we've so far seen 30 seconds of her as the Doctor. I'm willing to give her her chance. (Though I was rooting for Tilda Swinton and still would love to see her play the Doctor someday!)

I wish they'd find a Doctor who lasted more than a couple of seasons.

Having a Tom Baker style run would be nice. Unfortunately, nowadays, it's become a prestigious CV addition.

What an awful news. All the Hydroponic Nation blue birds, scattered....dead...on the world assembly floor.
Who would have thought that several black birdies can leave so much mess to clean up.
The Cleaning ladies had to pour 4 gallons of bleach !!!

Haha... I think invaders are playing Merry goes round with regions.
Parkplace gained again her delegate 16 hours ago.

I expect it will be the same in Wysteria.

Celestial maple

Wysteria was flipped 24 hours prior to Canada.
Luckily Herzil spotted it in Wysteria and sent urgent messages to all the defender regions so Wordy came to the rescue 1st followed by GRO, TDF and others.

[The Zombie hunters of Almonaster Nuevo] What do you mean? Find a doctor that would last more than a few seasons? David is the second longest running doctor behind Tom Baker

Yes, and I was very sorry to see him go.

On the other hand, you can't just look at elapsed time. Tennant produced less than half the number of episodes that Pertwee did, despite his longer run. The seasons now are much shorter. Both the recent incarnations have lasted about 40 episodes (which is longer than I had realised), but it felt to me like they had just got going when they quit or were forced out.

Five years since I became friends on Facebook with Esselldee. Man I miss that lass... :(

Recently I re-read private messages we had in the past...what a w00t she was! Laughter and tears through the whole reading of the twirling hippy chicks words. Miss her dearly.

She and I used to exchange teh funniez. I think I've got a folder full somewhere. Must go and hunt them out.

I re-read our messages from time to time. She was a laugh. Such a genuinely nice, thoughtful and caring person. Can't expect much more from a friend.

I'm so excited and can't believe I need to wait to January to play at the Olympics.
I guess, I will use the waiting time to recruit the wacko & insane citizens, I mean Athletes to represent my fair nation.
Just hope they will decide once and for all whether Ambassadors represent their home region or the embassy region.

I would have thought the home region, although we would be delighted to have you with us.

Isn't that the basic job of an ambassador - to represent their home region?

Celestial maple

It is the ambassador job :)
But Canada delegation tends to be small which shows on the medal count. Although in the last Olympics Stormaen did bring Canada - honor with 3 medals.

As a none Canadian and someone who visited Canada more than 10 times in her life - Calgary is my favorite city.

and I just read a dreadful article about the estimated $391.82-million budget to prepare venues for 2026 Winter Olympics that will be held in Calgary.
And I'm wondering, why on earth would the city of Calgary will be willing to ruin its beautiful landscape with endless stadiums and arena's that no one will use or remember after the Olympic will end.

Why not build the venues near West Edmonton Mall ? One monstrous venue next to another !!!

Seems like a good place for theM all.

* nods *

Celestial maple

I haven't been keeping up on this issue, but from what I understand a lot of the infrastructure from the last time they hosted the Olympics is still in regular use. I know there was an idea for Edmonton and Calgary to co-host, but I'm not sure if that was the main focus of the review as as far as I know it was conducted entirely by the city of Calgary.

Celestial maple

I don't think a co-host will be possible. For one, you can't expect athletes to wonder around in buses between two cities.
Second, its custom that games are hosted in capitals. That would have put Edmonton up front. The idea to pick Calgary just because its the largest city in Alberta, doesn't make sense.
