Hey guys! New question of the week:
If every particle of a human body could be synthetically made, would that creature have human consciousness/ a soul and would you consider it human?

Well...I suppose it would have a human consciousness and I would consider it human. I don't believe in souls so it wouldn't have that as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting question hmm.. I suppose I would as they would be basically no different than you and me just synthetically made but was every part of them synthetically made or are they sort of like a clone where they had an original like Jango Fett

That's a very interesting and kinda deep question. I think if you could synthetically reproduce the brain perfectly, or near perfectly, then it would have human consciousness. As for a soul, we have no way of knowing obviously; but I would personally assume that if souls exist it would be given a soul too. And yes I would consider it human.

If souls existed in humans, do you think a synthetic human would have a soul though? I feel like most people who believe in souls would say no

Depends what a soul would be, but gut feeling is no.

The Principality of Demonos had, long ago, adopted measures to create vat produced citizens. Today those infants are as old as three. They are doing well. They have shown intelligence, resourcefulness, and appetite. They're generally communicative and show great promise. The measures mandated a program and it had had a rocky beginning because of this very question.

We have many reasons why we clone our demons. We grow tissue and produce cloned blood for injury, disease, and hunger. Blood is our most popular product. Although it is cloned, that blood is still nourishing. Initially, it is possible to get stuck on the issue of souls. Our nation has a very interesting perspective being Satanic in nature and residing in Hell.

The Luciferian perspective is that souls do not exist unless created by an individual. As certainly as a concept of the divine is manufactured by the mind it can be destroyed by it. The soul is a state of mind. Should this state of mind develop in the individual; natural or engineered consciousness; it is of no consequence. Souls are real and yet, they are not.

I assure you, vat grown citizens who develop a sense of the soul would be interesting. It has yet to be observed in our living specimens examples of the Demonos Reproductive Program, though. Should it be determined that these citizens believe they have a soul, then it makes feeding the elder demons of Hell easier. AND Should they be without one for opining on it: Satanism wins. (they're still as nourishing)

What they are are demons. Everyone is a demon here. Natural born, synthetically engineered, or virtually distinguished; all are demons in The Principality. Once they were human, too, before being damned to migrate unto our shores but, citizenship is to be a demon in Demonos. Any consciousness is a requirement for rights, too. What use is a soul, then?

I love this, it's very detailed and interesting. Does this also represent your OOC views or are those different? (My assumption is that your OOC views are indeed in this but I'm not sure and I don't want to just assume)

Well consciousness is a creation of our brain, so if we could synthetically make a brain as good as ours, yes it would have that. A counter question, what if we applied the 'Ship of Theseus' paradox here? If every part of a person's body was replaced by either synthetic or other people's body parts, is that then the same person or a different person?

I've always loved and hated the Ship of Theseus. Applied here it's very tricky but I feel like most people's gut reaction is that it's the same person (that's what I would think too). But once their brain is replaced, are they the same person? I'm tempted to say no. One of the points of the Ship of Theseus is basically "at what point is it a new ship, if ever?" and I feel like that's a bit more simple here with the brain. Now, without replacing the brain... I'd say they're the same person but not in the same body. However, at what point does the body become not the same any more? That's still a tricky one.
It's very similar to the idea of a cyborg, really
Sorry I kinda rambled there

I initially agreed, but just as humans can change their body through diet and exercise, or lack of it, neuroplasticity is also a thing, so can we even claim to be the same person that we were 10 years ago, due to changes in our body and brain? I would say yes, because our brain is still encased in our skull, which is very much our own. That's about as much thinking as I want to do about this though.

I'm going to the beach with someone tomorrow
I don't want to go
I'll read a book now
It's an inconvenience to go to the beach
But at least I don't have to confront my issues for another day
