Well if you think about it, the highest population is with the oldest nation, the youngest nation has the smallest population. It just increases over time, I don’t think there’s much you can do to affect it. Maybe death rate might?

It's definitely about the longevity of your nation; the longer it's active, and not the bone yard, your population will increase every day. My nation is in the Popn. top 1% of the game based on how long its been active.
I think so... it is probable that death rate, public healthcare and such affect the population growth ratio, but i can't 100% confirm or deny this

That is correct. There is also a way for anyone to guarantee that they do not have too many endorsements: leave the WA, allow a major update to apply (this happens regularly, several hours between each IIRC), then re-join the WA. This clears both all of the endorsements you've given others, and all the endorsements you've received from others.
Keep in mind, this really is a security measure. Delegates must spend Influence in order to kick out invaders. Your maximum influence is determined by how many endorsements you have. If people were allowed to have as many endorsements as they liked, it would be very easy for a few bad actors to all move in, endorse each other, and then be almost impossible to kick them all out because the Delegate would run out of influence. This is especially a problem for the three sinker regions (Balder, Lazarus, and Osiris) because re-founded nations retain whatever influence they had when they CTE'd. As a result, it's very very easy for a nation here to have an ENORMOUS pile of influence which makes it harder to kick them out.
It's frustrating, because we have no in-game way of showing support for one another besides Endorsement. But because I like living in Balder and do not wish to be a threat to its security or safety, I try to abide by this rule, even with its frustrating and unfortunate consequences.
