Unfortunately you have just missed the beginning of the 87th World Cup on the forums, and generally no international football is run at the same time, because the NSWC is most important.

After the WC finishes, the AO regional tournament - the AOCAF Cup - will be held, along with youth tournaments like the Under-21 an Under-18 World Cups.

In the mean time, you can always work on a domestic league for Svaercia to get into the swing of things :)

Or, if you're too lazy, like me, you can cheer on your AO friends in the World Cup and then start your glorious AO career

I tried to search a little on the forums, and I failed to find the WC Thread. Do you mind if I ask you send a link towards the topic, please?

Ahhhh, man. It's been two weeks since I last visited the site. Sorry for what I did here, but I raged quit in the middle of the BoF. I don't take losses lightly, you know? Nevertheless, I'm planning to focus on my new football league. I've got the whole team planned out, and the structure, too. I'm sure you'll all look forward to it.

Also, good to be back again! How goes your new years?

Thank you for the advice. I'm trying to make one for myself.

If you were in this year's Baptism of Fire, you are also in the World Cup.

Barunia wrote:If you were in this year's Baptism of Fire, you are also in the World Cup.

Yes, I'm also a participant there. However, I wanted to start my own league as a recovery from a loss.
I will, however, post my own roster at some point this week.

Given the nature of NS Sports and how you have absolutely zero direct control over the results, investing that much into an imaginary team's win/loss record will probably not make NS Sports all that happy a place for you. Sure, winning is great fun, but if you're only about the winning, be prepared for a frustrating time in this game. The community, storytelling and worldbuilding aspects are really what makes NS Sports great, winning stuff is just the cherry on top.

Which is why I'm planning to invest in creating my own league. It's to act as a calming period between competitions, as well as to test out different ways to present a storyline.

I find it hard to accept losses at something that isn't real. That is why I left NS Sports temporarily; fearing that it might negatively affect my outside life.

I have multiple (dumb) questions, but it's better to be dumb for 1 day than for your whole life:
1-I presume the RP is made mainly on the forum? So I need to create a topic about my football league there before starting my international campaign?
2-Is there a minimum number of teams and/or divisions needed in our football system? For now I think of like 2 divisions of 10 teams each for now, along with a national cup.

Good attitude :)

The RP is almost entirely on the forum yes, but you absolutely do not need a domestic league before having an international team. I'd recommend making the league first, as it allows you to more easily build up things like team names and styles of play before translating that up to a national team, so the "who does this guy play for?" question is already answered for you, but there's no requirement to do it at all.

I think I originally started with something like 6 teams in 1 division, so there's no minimum number required.

Thank you! I also found the Nephara's domestic leagues tutorial, I'm actually reading it right now!

In hopes to join the RP, I'm planning, as well as many newbies I guess, to create my own league system. I already got a simulated league system (about 20 seasons) on like 3 divisions so I guess everything is already in place for me! :)

But I have a question: let's say that "culturally" (RP-speaking) in MKPC, we tend to play football on a 7-a-side format, instead of the classic 11 men format, but international wise we play 11-a-side, is that ok? I mean, in the local league and cup, we play 7vs7 on the field, but when there are international matches betwen either clubs or national teams we align 11 players.

I don't think that's ever come up before. So long as international matches (club/NT, as you stated) are 11v11 I don't see a problem. Might be a wrinkle if you get involved in international transfers, though again, not necessarily a problem.

Further to Kry's point, in the World Lacrosse Championship we have a country that domestically plays "box lacrosse" (indoor version) but play with the regulation 10 players for the WLC.
I think the idea is fresh and opens up all sorts of avenues.

I'm usually wrong, but from my experience internal domestic leagues can be roleplayed however one wishes.

Pretty much this. So long as it doesn't interfere with others' canon, you can effectively do as you please.

Somehow missed something worth a reply:

I'm still figuring this out, but it helps not to get emotionally invested in the results of things. As it pertains to NS, there's no actual "win" state and things in NS Sports don't even factor into the game itself. It's not something to take personally nor a mark against someone's participation or ability.

It can also be helpful to look at things from a different perspective: perhaps a player had a great performance in a losing effort, maybe a fan in a cheap seat attended their first game and enjoyed their time, maybe some other bright point that wasn't reflected in the final score happened.

Also helpful to know it isn't a writing competition, one could write an excellent RP that gets full RP bonus and still lose to an opponent that didn't RP or posted they don't have anything worth writing about.

It’s fun just building the story. There should be heartache and lost seasons before finally winning silverware. I had a lot of rough seasons before I won a few things. But that built up a storyline, created rivalries and just made things feel more realistic and fun. No worries about winning or losing. It could be a big relief just releasing the pressure from yourself. Nobody judges anyone for their win-loss total. I think I’ve read your RP before and enjoyed it.

I also just remembered a mundane detail that can also prove there are negative consequences to winning:

When I was in disbelief of the first 95X domestic soccer/association football team to win an international tournament, one that was annoyingly-named and located in a small city, I roleplayed that a second set of books was discovered and the team was actually very broke. So they had to trade (what some would consider "sell" in some sports terminologies) all of the contracts to their good players and were left to play the next season with former backups and reserve players, finishing last.

As off now, I think I might just go with a reconstruction of the league after the 20 seasons I already have simulated.
Until now, I got 3 divisions:
-The "MKPC Championship" regroups Division 1 and Division 2 the professional leagues. Each division is made up of 8 teams. D1's bottom 2 swap with D2's top 2 at the end of the season.
-"Division 3" is made of 2 distinct groups: the "central" and "outside" groups. Each one of them is made up of 8 teams. At the end of the season, there is a promotion tournament between D2's bottom 2 and D3's group winners. It consisted of a 6 matchdays league where top 2 promote to D2 and bottom 2 relegate to D3 groups.
-There is also the MKPC Cup, where the 16 teams in the "MKPC Championship" competes for each season.
Now, I think that starting season 21 MKPC will run 4 divisions of 12 teams each. In each division, top 2 would promote, while bottom 2 would relegate. The MKPC Cup would expand to either 32 teams (D1, D2 and D3 top teams) or 64 teams (D1,D2,D3,D4 teams + D1 and D2's 2nd teams).

Atlantis is holding Winter Games on the 1st Feb to celebrate our region's 18th Anniversary. You are welcome to participate if you wish. Details in the dispatch.

Welcome to the Atlantis Winter Games
Held 1st February 2021 to commemorate the 18th Anniversary of Atlantis.

To Commemorate the 18th Anniversary of Atlantis, Winter Games have been proposed to bring nations sporting heroes together to foster friendship and peace between their nations. The Games will begin on 1st February 2021.

Host | The Games | Sign-Ups | Participants

The Host
The Games will take place at the snow-enveloped Lemming Mountains in The Teachings of Lemmingtopias. The Lemming Mountains, in the North of the country, have for millennia been considered sacred ground and are dotted with monasteries, temples, academies, hermitages and thousands of shrines to the Hellenic gods and Lemmingtopian mystic spirits. The largest complex is the Winter Palace, which will serve as a backdrop to the sporting events and which is the min residence of His Holiness the Lemming Sage outside of the Capital. The Winter Palace is also the resting place of the mummified body of the Divine and Perpetual Emperor Lomax during the winter months. Medal recipients and select dignitaries will be invited to a private audience with the Emperor in his mausoleum.

Athletes, Dignitaries and spectators will arrive at the Lomax Winter Station after a journey from any major city or airport in Lemmingtopias. From here, a funicular railway takes you high above the station to the Winter Palace Complex. Limited access to the Helipad can also be arranged on request. Here, Athletes will be welcome by the Lemming Sage prior to being transported to their team facilities and the athlete village. Rooms are available at the Winter Palace for foreign dignitaries. With the exception of a few pensions near to the winter palace, Hotels for spectators are available at any of the nearby Mountain Towns, most being around one hour's transportation to the site of the Games by rail or coach.

The ancient stone amphitheater has been extended with temporary seating to allow for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies while modern venues for the sports already exist and have been upgraded for the occasion. To ensure the safety of the ancient and sacred site, special routes have been laid out for spectators to follow with free tickets required to access the Winter Palace Complex or any of the nearby monasteries and temples. Temporary facilities have been installed to make the area comfortable for visitors as well as to ensure the safety of the site. Some mountain peaks have also been made available for visitor climbing.

The Games
Several Events across four sports will take place:

  • Bobsleigh

  • Ice Hockey

  • Figure Skating

  • Cross Country Skiing
